Bear Mountain is one of the best resort communities I've ever seen. 36 holes of Jack Nicklaus designed golf, 8 indoor/outdoor clay tennis courts, world class mountain biking, hiking trails, breathtaking scenery, wildlife everywhere, great restaurants and bars, a fitness centre and some of Vancouver Islands most desirable real estate.

Robert

One of a kind. 8 Super red clay tennis courts with a fantastic new bubble on 4 of the court's. What an enjoyable experience. Well run with very knowledgeable staff. Definitely going to play there again.

(Translated) Playing the Valley field today, although the serve is not difficult, but the fruit forest is challenging, the first time, many dark lines can not see. There may be many people playing, and the repair of the scars in the fruit forest is not perfect. The whole is still challenging in happiness. It is better to play this resort first. (Original) 今天打了Valley场,虽然发球不是很难,但果林有挑战,第一次打,很多暗线看不出来。可能打的人多,果林的打痕修复的不尽完美。整体还是快乐中有挑战。到这个度假村先打这个比较好。

Such a fun course to play, me and my friends always have a blast.

Love both courses. Challenging!!! Took lessons from the pro Debbie. She is excellent. Always a treat to play and stay.

Both courses are great; Valley especially. The staff are awesome. All in all I love being here.

Deborah McCallum

beautiful course and an amazing hotel too!

Verinder Grewal

Two class golf courses that are fun yet difficult to play. I really wish they had made the courses easier so I didn't lose so many golf balls. I prefer a few other courses in the area but still good to play here once a year,

Was here for a wedding, nice place, amazing view! I will definitely come back.

It's Bear Mountain. It's over priced. I'm still giving it five stars because ... well ... It's Bear Mountain and they have two Nicklaus courses. A more favourable local of loyalty rate would be a nice gesture to the community. If you want 90% of the experience at a fraction of the price try Highland Pacific ... locally owned and operated (family business) and the scenery may even be better.

If you are a low handicapper you'll probably like the Mountain course. The Valley course is, in my opinion, more enjoyable. Overall they are Nicklaus designed courses. The service in the Masters can be very slow but, for the most part, the staff are great.

Fabulous!

This is a magical place!! The 2 world class Jack Niklaus designed golf courses are a sight to behold, especially the mountain course. The views from the top of the course are absolutely breathtaking as you gaze across lower Vancouver Island and the Olympic Mountain range in America. The food is great quality and the service is always amazing. Whether your dining in Bella or the Masters Lounge you wont be disappointed. You need to visit this place when you travel to Vancouver Island.

Located just north of Victoria, British Columbia's capital city, the impressive Bear Mountain resort offers a wide array of activities and amenities. At this luxury resort Jack Nicklaus has etched his own indelible paw print onto the landscape, creating two captivating and dramatic golf courses in the process, both rated 5-stars. At this Stay & Play venue, the on-site accommodation is located close to the golf facilities

Beautiful course in fantastic shape. I played the mountain course for a twilight t-time. Unfortunately, the round was extremely slow from hole 4-17 (we didn’t finish In 4.75 hours), which was very disappointing. We didn’t see a Marshall to move things along until the 17th hole either when it was dark. It would have been nice if the pace of play was pushed along.

Where do I start. I'll just do a list of the problems me and my friends ran into on the mountain course. - Sprinklers were on in the vicnity of the driving range - was forced to drive the cart through it. Was nice to get wet at 7:15am. Sprinklers were also on, on another hole. Very distracting and wet, again. - A hole on the back 9 was supposed to be a par 5..turned out to be a rediculous par 3 with a temporary green on the fairway. We weren't made aware of this or discounted in any way. - The amount of residential construction happening around the course is insane. Completely distracting. - The course had their landscaping crews working around (and within) our round of golf, mowing grass, trimming etc. - A food/drink hut midway on the course had no food. 1 or 2 sandwiches left and that was it. just snacks. brutal. - The bathroom at the food hut was filthy. covered with dead bugs and mosquitos. Maybe this is all due to us golfing first thing on a weekday but I don't care. Not an excuse as far as I'm concerned when you're paying over $200 and this is supposed to be one of the top golf destinations on the west coast. I'll be sticking with the other courses.

Wow the majestic views of The Mountain Course” are spectacular!

Beautiful! Stayed here as a Anniversary staycation. Beautiful, clean, comfortable room and fantastic friendly staff from Bella at the front desk, our server at Masters Lounge and Terrace and Jackson and Mike at the Clubhouse.

The BREATHSLOW

Love the Golf courses and the staff, always have had a terrific experience every time I have gone but the new managements decision to refuse the use of the Island Trail card after I have already purchased it due to COVID-19, but will fully accept cash payment is a joke and is in complete violation of the BC Consumer protection act...... Bear Mountain does follow through with their financial commitments to their retail partners........ THEY HAVE NOW SINCE AUTHORIZED THE TRAIL CARDS 6/4/20

I got a good score 96 when I first played the mountain course from black tee with my friends. After that I enjoy the mountain course’s view, but I don’t have enough time to see because I love golf very much. Here is my special favorite place.

This review is for the military community in the Victoria area: go get a cfb esquimalt golf Association memership and then come here. Only cost 50 bucks to golf this amazing valley course as a member and what an amazing course!!!!! And the beer cart sells little airplane liquor and juice. Which is great for a mid game coctail!

What an incredible golf course! You may lose a few balls but you’ll comeback for the views! Hotel is great as well!

JPB

Did not stay here, but played the Golf Course, and wow....just wow. Absolutely beautiful scenery with wildlife everywhere - a pure joy to partake in. Put your ego aside and bring a bag of golf balls, because a massacre of your game might ensue - nonetheless, it is a day of pure enjoyment. Incredibly efficient, friendly and helpful staff. Everything is spotless, manicured and maintained. Stunning Clubhouse with great food and drink - prices are better than I expected - awesome views from the Deck over looking the First hole. Highly doubt you will be disappointed - cannot wait to come back again someday.

Largest clay tennis court set up in British Columbia. 8 courts, very spacious playing area and modern, bright warm bubble for winter play. Excellent golf courses, a Westin Hotel and a variety of dining options. This is resort atmosphere.

This golf course is not even close to worth the insaine amount of money they want now. $270 for a round. WHAT A JOKE. you use to be able to play here for $120. Biggest scam in BC for a golf course.. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Played here on Sunday April 18 with my two kids. What a stupid amount of money and the golf course isn't any better than any other for less than half the cost. To top it off, it was cart path only even though the course was firm and should have easily handled the carts. I agree with other posters here, don't waste your money.

Mountain course is beautiful with great views! Staff are very friendly and helpful all around the resort.

Absolutely stunning. One of the best golf courses in western Canada. Agreed it's a tough course, we were fortunate to play the mountain course twice, a surprise on the 10th hole with free snacks and soft drinks was a great touch , never seen that anywhere before. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our foursome will be back soon.

We had a group of 8 play both courses over a weekend. The courses themselves are beautiful and in great shape. They are overpriced but we knew that going in, that's expected for the highest end golf course in Victoria. The customer service was the worst we ever experienced on a high end course. At arrival there was nobody there to greet us. There was a button that said to push for club assistance. We pushed it and stood there for 10 mins, nobody showed up so we all carried our clubs down to the cart staging area. When we got there the cart staff did come out and load our bags but they were not friendly at all and said nothing about us having to carry our clubs down. On the course the drink cart staff were also very unfriendly, both days. We tried to start respectful conversation and all we got were yawns and head nods. At end of day the cart staff were just as unfriendly as when we arrived, no "hi how was your day" or anything of the kind. A few grunts and they took the carts away. We are far from being a spoiled needy group. We simply expect decent customer service. The customer service at this course was terrible for a cheap course never mind one with a $275 price tag. There wasn't a single person over the two days that made us feel like they appreciated our business. As a result, hard to recommend this course to anyone.

Planned on hitting the links with a visiting brother. Unfortunately, we had some snow and it shut down the course for a few days during his visit. My brother has a couple young sons who love golf and we wanted to grab them some product from the pro shop anyways. Dylan was working the pro shop and was extremely friendly. We will definitely make it back during some warmer weather. Thanks for the service!

Nothing but class and great customer service. We brought 24 guys from up island for a Ryder cup event. Bottom line is we had a great time even if the course beat up on us on this particularly windy day. Thanks to the pro shop staff for making us welcome and we look forward to playing your courses again. Dave W.
