Here you will see all the information of people who purchase the services and products of Wolf Creek Golf Resort (Golf) in Alberta (Canada).
At present the business receives a score of 4.3 stars over 5 and that rating was based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, its rating is really good, and it's based on a very high number of opinions, so we may be pretty sure that the assessment is quite credible. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they are pleased, it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to put scores when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Golf is included in the category of Golf course.
Even nice in the winter
Very disappointing... went there because Score Golf magazine rated these courses amongst the top 20 for value in Canada...with 35 degrees weather no beverage cart service to deliver much needed water or gatorade, only 1 beverafe cart person to handle 36 holess the day before..No starters, no Marshals. The links course was in horrible condition, the tee boxes were hard as rock, the greens were in very bad shape. Maintenance of the course is obviously not a priority. The old course was in better shape but quite honestly I would not rate these courses top 20 in Alberta let alone Canada.
Honestly, I'm sure the course is great, but I attended a wedding here and found the facilities lacking. Rickety stairs with an old sink hole at the top covered with a small piece if plywood. Soap dispenser in the bathroom had appeared to be broken a while and the bar served super store brand whiskey. Didn't seem that special to me.
Course is in great shape, challenging for a beginner golfer.
In very good shape this year!
Golf was excellent
Best golf course
Attended a wedding here that was held outside with reception in the banquet room. Facility was good. Catering was actually quite good and staff were very helpful. Overall a pretty positive experience with this place. I can't comment on the golfing as I don't golf!!
The Links course was disappointing. Poor condition. A black fungus infected the greens on the back nine. The bunkers need some maintenance. Cart paths are poor. Carts beeped incessantly with ads and nags. It has potential, but needs a renovation.
Nice day trip from Edmonton. Great variety of landscapes to enjoy. Nice greens.
Beautiful golf course just outside of Ponoka
Great golfing experience....welcome to Scotlabd (Links Course). You want to be a target golf player for this one.
Loved it!!
I feel that if you're charging the prices they are the course would be immaculate and it was OK. I was also disappointed in the dining they used to have a better menu
This golf course is average at best. Some of the holes are challenging but the amount of dead/dry spots is insane. They can do a much better job of maintaining this course. I am referring to the old course as we did not try the other. Driving range is in a terrible spot as well. Overall probably would not return.
Just a small town golf course.
good food and friendly service. Packing is a little crowded during events
Nice place to golf
Pricey
Freindly, helpful staff
Beautiful course.
Such a great golf course, impeded by disregard to the guest. Yeah, the old course is a great course. It's visually beautiful, and a real challenge. But on it's own, that's not enough. First you need staff. Like a course marshall. I was out there on a recent Sunday. It was busy, but no marshall on the property. A bus tour had a group of golfers there. They were loud (music and profanity), one wore cowboy boots (maybe they had golf cleats on them), three wrestled on a green. Someone impacted their putter into the green three inches from the cup on 14. Two were absently driving around the coures asking everyone where the 17th tee box was. Where was the marshall? And when we went in for a post game burger, the food was fine but you had to contend with flies to see who is going to get the most. It was crazy. When I mentioned it to the server all I got was a smile and "yeah, aren't they terrible"! There must be a government department to report them to. They really didn't care. So in the end, yeah I enjoyed the course. But would I drive an hour and a bit back there to do it often? Not likely.
Awesome fun course
Great head pro. Beautiful shape!!
Great golf course
Not what it used to be. Overpriced and hasn't been kept up too well. There are many better options for less money in central Alberta.
The Wolf Creek Golf Resort offers two 18-hole championship courses, and can also accommodate visitors onsite. With both layouts designed by Rod Whitman, the wonderful Old course presents a challenging mix of open, linksy holes and others that are more tree-lined. It is kept company by the longer, but often more forgiving Links course.
The staff was wonderful and very helpful the building was a classic log cabin style would recommend to any golfer
Best golf in central alberta
The bathrooms were pretty dirty but the course was awesome...had some trouble buying beer
Nice course or I should say links. My only comment is the club house needs a big remodeling their website as well.
Tasty food. And friendly service
Great people
The Links course is decent and challenging. The staff are very friendly and the clubhouse and food are good. It's a long course and I do not recommend walking it like we did.
It was clean. Staff was very friendly. Beautiful course.
It's a fun layout but the greens are not good. On one nine they were shaggy, dead slow and unpredictable; on the second they were a bit faster but rough, and putts were wandering and bouncing around due to patchy grass. All in all, expensive golf, considering the greens. The upstairs bar restaurant and outdoor patio was great. Food and service A1. Just fix the greens Mr. Vold, then you can call it a resort. And, suggest you invest in some quiet, non polluting, powerful electric golf karts.
Amazing course in perfect shape!
Fantastic little Golf resort surrounded by beautiful mountains and nature. Well kept greens, attentive staff, excellent restaurant onsite. Would definitely golf here again!
We only come here for Ingress Pokemon lol
Great place, good service.
First off this is probably the most challenging course I've ever played in my very short golf life of two seasons. However, the green and fairway condition was among the best I've ever played on. I typically play CCT and have played many VIP courses in Edmonton and can easily say that maintenance wise this place ranks far above. While challenging, when you think your shots through this course can be incredibly rewarding. I'm no pro with a 18.3 handicap and managed a 91 on the Old Course. One of the local guys I played with told me that the Links Course is even more difficult. Would definitely recommend this course for a scenic challenge and will be coming back next year.
Good course but unforgiving lol
Greens are in mediocre shape. Lots of winter kill.
Good food and great service.
Great course, terrific food. Worth the drive for some old-school good-time golf.
Outstanding golf courses. One of the top courses in Alberta.
Very nice course- I really enjoyed it and it is somewhat forgiving but still challenging with narrow fairways at some points. Great view everywhere and the carts have a really handy GPS system for the huge course.
Beautiful 36 hole rod Whitman design
Difficult but fun. Well kept course.
Immaculate course. Good and challenging holes with a great lounge and restaurant for after the round.
Decent course, not overly cheap or expensive. Quality of course was poor, people who play the course are to blame. Didn't see one person fix a ball mark on the green or on the fairway. Played the old course. Gorgeous views.
Golf course was great. Food in the lounge was bad, it took a long time for food to make it's way out of the kitchen even though there weren't many people dining. Poorly executed menu. Our waitress was very attentive.
Golf
Layout is spectacular, but course is not in good condition.
Tough but unique
Amazing!
Played the Old Course and What a Fabulous 18 holes of golf. The condition of the course was second to none, very well maintained. You better bring your straight clubs, as this layout is very challenging...
Tough course and well maintained
Enjoyed it very much
A picturesque Lodge and course. Great food.
Amazing course!
Wolf Creek, it's a tough review. While I can see the potential in the course, it's obvious that they haven't reinvested much into the property as of late. While they do have some amazing holes, the overall experience is lacking. It's a shadow of it's former self.
Nice golf course
Wolf Creek is where we hold our Annual "Golf Boys Invitational" tournament we always enjoy the Old course, it is challenging and exciting to play. This year the greens are in the best shape I have ever seen them!
Love coming to here. Par three holes, always in good shape. The staff are always helpful and nice. Always a good experience, thanks and keep up the good work !
Course is in good shape. The greens are a bit rough. Keep them straight or bring balls. No finding them in the fescue.
Great challenging links style course
Great grounds. Friendly and knowledgable staff across all areas.
Great course, greens are in great shape.
Wolf Creek's Old Course is always at the top of our list to play each year. The past view years have been hit and miss with conditioning but they seem to have found their way back to the top this year. The greens were in top condition and quick but not fast. The greens were firm but well struck shots were rewarded. The fairways were in good condition with some dye areas starting do develop probably from the heat we have been having lately. The ball sits up nicely giving you a fair chance to catch the ball cleanly. Other courses in the Edmonton area should take note of this. So many area courses strive to look green all the time by keeping the fairways at a longer length resulting in a quarter of the ball sinking down. The tee boxes were in good shape but are probably in need of being leveled and resodded. Other than that, it is well worth the hour drive. The green keeping crew were excellent. We were out early in the morning and when ever we approached our ball the crews would stop working until we hit our shots. Another lesson other courses in the area should take note of.
Great staff and a challenging course.
Terrific greens
The courses at Wolf Creek are great. Two different evolutions of golf. Former site of the Alberta Open old course is an iconic trip through testing links golf. The newer Links Course is a a bigger test if golf. It has been the host of the Alberta Open for the past few years and is a full test of golf. The staff and crew are excellent, providing for the best of service.
Great place to have a wedding of 100 or less.
Always good to spend time playing golf.
Course condition and overall experience was just okay compared to previous visits. Covid / current economy likely to blame.
We played the Links on Pro Shop suggestion and weren’t impressed (a field turned into a golf course, kindly called a Links). The Old Course is where the reputation was made. They will host the 2020 Alberta Open.
Not a forgiving course. In average shape
Great place for golfers if you love golf you must check it out
Amazing place very clean and professional staff would highly suggest it
Hope to be working there
Nice golf course. it wouldn't let me get that eagle though. :-(
Top notch course along the highway between Edmonton and Calgary
Worst greens in central Alberta. Sad. Payed over $100 to play on yellow sandy greens. Won’t be back
Love the course. My only complaint is the unnecessary cart path only fences on some of the holes, but not on others. Why? There's nothing on those fairways that made them any different from the ones we were able to drive on. It sure does slow down the pace of play having to grab several clubs and wall all the way across the fairway and the walk back to the cart path.
Awesome place for golf..greens a quick and you need to think of what area you gonna hit your ball..to avoid hazards
In good condition. Tight fairways and challenging greens. Was not very busy, would go again.
Played last summer. Challenging and a lot of fun. I'll definitely play there again.
The old course is an awesome layout. The "new" course is long and hard but 3 holes with blind tee shots and hard to see these fairways. It is hard enough. But the original is an awesome test and a must play!
To expensive to play 18 holes of golf.
Played the Old course, it needs some work. GPS on the carts didn't work. The greens didn't winter well and were a little rough for July. Usually in amazing shape. Staff were amazing as usual.
Green's were quick..roughs was short.. awesome place to play
Could be 5 stars if they paved some of the cart paths again. Awesome layout. Impossibly tough green to putt on due to slopes
Beautiful course, will definitely be back.
Challenge , Beautiful ....????️⛳???? Lots of Fun , and Awesome too...
poor signage on the course in relation to hole direction. no GPS in old gas carts. course map on front of cart too small to read...even the two young pups could not read it. many blind shots for newbies to course. expensive.$110 each with cart [holiday weekend]. greens in fair to good shape.fast and true. food good and staff pleasant.
Awesome course as always
beautiful
Great golf...horrible experience. Staff unaccomodating and rude...if you could find them.
Outstanding still an awesome place to play Golf just like I remember,Lars
Links course is fun to play. Lots of sand so be prepared
Course was in good shape
Course good shape but was supposed to play the old course and prebooked but sent to the links course instead.no good reasons for doing this
Played The Links course a week ago...GPS was not working...they gave me a whole $4 off....now I can afford that bottle of water. The greens were not in great shape, Spotty and slow.Dissapointed for $108.
I normally love this coarse but the fairways are dead greens were pretty rough, hopefully they can fix it this year, for the shape its in its a bit over priced.
Challenging yet fun golf course
Great golf great people
Great condition, started playing Wolf Creek over 30 years ago. The Old Course was the only course and remains a truly pure golf experience. For a top 100 course in Canada, it is a bargain at 100 dollars with Cart. Thank you to the Vold family for maintaining a Canadian Golfing Gem.... I do miss the 25 dollar green fee.....
great layout nice mix of holes long and short very challenging requires thought and variety of shots well manicured.i was treated like a member of a private club.
I played the Links Course on Saturday, August 25. It was a fantastic experience. The layout of this course is exceptional. A great variety of holes to keep things interesting from a strategic standpoint. Reachable par 5's that have plenty of trouble around the green to make you question going for it. Par 3's that range in length from needing only a SW, to potentially needing a Driver. And bunkers... bunkers everywhere! They are all deep and truly a hazard. And the only cart path passing through a bunker I have ever seen! The conditioning of the course was excellent! The fairways were a pleasure to hit from. They were tightly mown, but the ball would sit up nicely on them. The greens rolled true and very consistently. The bunkers were well kept, and divots and ball marks tended to be well taken care of. The fescue was easy to find a ball in, but difficult enough to hit out of. I also very much liked that the Links Course had its own practice area to warm up at prior to our tee time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a very enjoyable day at Wolf Creek and intend to return some time to play the Old Course, and I can't wait until we do!
The best golf course around
The once "best tournament golf course" in Alberta is showing its age (the Old Course). The holes themselves were in pretty good shape but the supporting infrastructure needs refreshing. Cart paths, stairs, signage, tee markers, yardage markers, etc. are worn. We have played the new course yet.
I went golfing at Wolf Creek (Old Course) on May 26th 2013. I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the course and the facilities provided for the golfing experience. This was my first time golfing this course. I read and saw pictures of how pristine this course was SUPPOSED to be. I know it's the beginning of the season but other courses in the area are in way better shape and provide spring rates. It appeared like maintenance was lacking if there was any done other than grass cutting. Fences falling apart. Cart paths breaking apart. Big holes where the cart paths end. Sand traps that have sand that a $30 par 3 would have. No map of the course on the score card or at each hole. No GPS provided (which so called cheaper courses provide). The club house looks run down. For the $110.00 spent on this course and the half hour drive i would not recommend this course to anyone. On the good side the staff was friendly.
Great golf, two very challenging courses.
Terrible service in clubhouse, half hour to get a waitress to acknowledge our table....ordered beef burger got a chicken burger...told it would be 15-20 mins to wait to change it...nothing done with bill...will not order food there again
Played the Old Course, really good course architecture. It's quite tough for beginners especially though. Favorite holes by par for me: Best Par 3 - #3 intimidating shot, I liked how you can use the hill on the right to bounce the ball onto the green if you're creative. Best par 4 - #5 strategic tee shot where you really have to pick your line, lots of nasty pot bunkers around the green. (#4 runner up, really beautiful) Best Par 5 - #11 one of the coolest holes I've played and my favorite on the course. Fairly wide open tee shot, if you hit it far you can possibly go for the green but it's all carry over a nasty creek bed. The layup get narrower the further you get to the green. Super strategic hole. The only thing I didn't love was the location of the practice range, it was very narrow and close to #10 and #18 and both holes had quite a few range balls on them. Definitely felt a little uneasy on those holes being in the line of fire.
Nice course! A very challenging track!
By far one of the best courses on Alberta!
This course is fantastic, both courses are well designed, staff is friendly and accommodating. The greens on the links have seen better years, it happens. The infrastructure is aging but it doesn't bother me I just go there to golf.
It definitely has its quirks, honestly I only 5 starred it because i didn't have to pay for the time I was there as i had a coupon, in also didn't get to finish do to the weather and me being a baby back b!+(h, but it is definitely for pros not novices like myself. The least amount of info upon arriving as well ???? but a free driving range upon paying for the golf. Hills are real steep so to all my super thick ones out there, just walk instead. Otherwise you'll be pushing those carts up the hill.
This golf course claims to be the place that Alberta meets Scotland. The difference is, Scotland grows grass. The greens won’t be back this year. Fire the superintendent. These guys couldn’t grow grass if Willie Nelson was the superintendent. Close the place and grow some grass. Total dumpster fire of a golf course. Save your money, drive an extra 30 minutes (or save 30 if you’re from Calgary) and go to Innisfail. 10x the golf course for the money. Wolf Creek was once a premier destination for golf, but now I wouldn’t even take my ex wife golfing there. Embarrassing.
The best golf course and the RV resort is awesome too - a pool is being built soon for the RVers - wahoooo!!!
Nice course with some easy and some difficult holes. Disappointed with lack of food in consession. Plain(not even mustard) roast beef bun and water were $8.00.
Amazing links!
Greens are garbage.
Amazing first time experience!
The management is young careless and run his own food tuck so doesn't have time to actual manage the place it say the kitchen is open to till close but but closes early as 730 some days without notice . .back stairs are condemned .The place needs serious work and a new manager Beer fridges were not working dishwasher wasnt either or TV's . The were out of onion rings hp and ice tea. The place is run down and dirty
Great golf awesome staff
Wonderful course. Narrow fairways but very lush . The holes were great. We'll be back. Truely enjoyed the course.
As per some of the other posted comments the course is showing its age. The day we played the fairways were very dry and baked in places. Some of the greens were a little rough. Given the experience Wolf Creek is overpriced. There are better and cheaper options.
A gentleman by the name of Brian provided my friend and I an extraordinary camping experience. He went above and beyond to take care of us. From picking a new campsite because the wasps were too much in the one reserved to bringing us wood and stacking it at our campsite multiple times. Also provided us grates from an oven to cook on over the open fire so we could have the true camping experience. He would also check in on us periodically to see how we were doing. This great fellow is retired and is just doing this because he truly enjoys people and being outdoors. He is a perfect compliment to a fun and amazing camping and golfing experience. Thank you Brian!! Ps. The golf is amazing as well. Two fantastic courses.
Well managed and vast
Booked a tee time online, then called the pro shop because I had to make some changes to the tee time. Was told that my green fees will not change but later was charged and additional $90+ dollars for a group of 4. They have not returned my emails to correct the mistake.
Challenging course.
Always treated well, weather was great, always have a great time here.
Excellent course(s)! Both the Old course and Links course are challenging, but the quality and layout of both courses are among the best in the province. They're both must-plays if you live in between, or even IN, Edmonton and Calgary.
Love this course and make the trip from Saskatoon every year to play it. The only disappointment was my score this time.
Definitely not enough of an "accomplished golfer", to take on this beast. However, it has great reviews and my dad and his buddies play it every year,
Great course
No words can decribe what wonders bring when you in counter mother earth
This course just continues to disappoint from the poor greens to the poor service. We drove down from Calgary to play, greens were sub par and paying top dollar. At the turn 12:45 in the afternoon and they have no food at the snack shack? This course is in desperate need of a rescue, it used to be a favorite but now they will never see another dollar of mine ..don't waste your money go somewhere else. So many better for less...
Great place for golf and friendly staff
Greens were not the best. Love the track though as always!
Course is in amazing shape. All that rain has helped for something.
This place is great. I lost a few $3 dollar balls, found some you couldn't give away and got a sunburn. 10/10 would lose a pile of balls again.
Great course, early season conditions but still fun. Great staff. Pro shop renovation looks really nice.
Awesome course! Love the old course.
Course was in great shape.
We had an awesome experience there will definitely be going back next summer
I like this course a lot, but it's tougher than the yardage suggest.
