Here you will be able to see all the opinions of people who are consuming the services and products of Stony Plain Golf Course (Golf) in Alberta (Canada).
Right now the firm gets a rating of 4.1 stars over 5 and this rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is very high, and it is founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we may think that the valuation is very reliable. If many people have bothered to rate when they are pleased with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to place evaluations when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Golf is classified in the category of Public golf course.
Great place to golf great greens
Greens are good. A little slow but better than others in the area.
Use to be Best greens in the area, now pray that the bumps be with you! Course gone to......!?
Beautifully maintained course, shots stick on the deceivingly fast greens. Great pro shop and management, highly recommend!
Great restaurant. Decent golf
Well layed out every holes very different with enough elevation change without being to much . Best coarse in edmonton for $60 . Greens and fairways were a 9.5 /10.
I absolutely love the eggs bennedict!!! Love Love Love!
One of the top conditioned public courses around and is a really good track. Currently fairways are excellent and the greens are really quick which I like. .
Awesome brunch!
I've lived (and golfed) in Edmonton for 22 years and have never been to this course. I was so surprised to see how nice this course was. It reminds me of Colonial in Beaumont without the price tag. Guess I know where I'll be going from now on.
Great course, friendly staff, but some chemical damage on the greens has then much worse than normal. Probably better in July or August.
They just redid the greens, best replacement I've ever seen. Great course
Great public course. Nice course layout for the the average to good golfer. Good pro shop. Great restaurant and service.
Used the cross-country ski trails and they were great
We were treated like king's. Wow!
Greens are in great shape this year.
Fun course and awesome staff. Had a wonderful time during the chamber golf tournament.
Best course I never played
Very nice kept course fun to play
Great course to play on. Very good conditions as of Aug 9th.
A great place for all abilities. The course layout is challenging yet fair! Staff in the pro shop are tops in the province. Great teachers, great fitters and always willing to accommodate. Looking forward to all the changes for next year! Proud to be a member here!
This is one of the better municipal golf courses in the Edmonton area. There are a handful of holes where the houses are very close, so you need to excercise some caution. The greens are large, fast and have some undulations so make sure you have a putter you can trust in the bag.
This is my home course. Never gets old playing here. Conditions were great this year. Greens were cut long but I know why and it didn't impact my putting much.
Nice layout. Groomed holes. Was in decent shape for this time of year.
Very good layout with very large greens. As of late may 2020 greens were very lush and full but rolling very slow.
Good food in the clubhouse. Excellent views of the golf course. ????
In good shape, priced decently. Would only allow hitting off of mats on the range so that was pretty annoying.
Great course..friendly staff
Good driving range.
Awesome course
Nice course. Fast greens and very challenging.
The driving range is standard rate, had a lot of fun there today
Golf course beautiful, food amazing, and the staff is outstanding! Be sure to check out Station 83 Restaurant, even if your NOT golfing!! Everyone is welcome for a wicked plate of food!
Awesome course, fun layout.
Very nice course, found the greens very fast and challenging
Nice course. Fairly challenging but open enough to be able to get out of trouble with your next shot. Greens were terrible. Patchy and in rough shape. Management should not be charging full price when greens are so bad.
Great course. The grounds crew must know what they're doing.
Took the kids I work with here and they loved it! Great course and driving the golf carts are always a plus.
Beautiful course, really enjoyed it!
Great option for golf right in stony!
Great local course that is well taken care of and enjoyable for any level of player
Beautiful weather today, however Greens very long and raggedy, disappointing. Rough was very long, made finding your ball 3 feet off the fairway extra time consuming. Cold hotdog and given diet pop instead of regular. Warmed in the microwave, not the experience my group was hoping for. Will give it a year or two before we return.
Course in great shape
Food was very good, service was great and on top...nice view! I am not a golfer but I have heard the course is very good!
Good course with slick greens.
The Stony Plain Golf Course used to be a fun place to play a round of golf. Sadly it has turned into a tired, run-down muni- course that caters only to residence of the town or it's employees. Given that the taxpayer dollars fund this operation, I expected more...but have been really disappointed over the last couple of years. Service has declined and prices have gone up. Town employees now take priority over paying public, it used to be the opposite when I played there. It seems like the course is constantly under construction. Looks like a complete waste of money in my opinion and takes away from what used to be a nice payer friendly course. Now at over $90 / round it has become one of the worst courses in the area and with all the great courses to play instead, people are leaving there by the bus load. You would think that this would change being a town operation, but it's a small town and logic does not apply. So my friends and I only play here once or twice a year for the odd company event. Even then, the banquets are tasteless and over priced. For all of those golfers out there save yourself $100 and play any of the other courses in the area twice. You'll be much happier than being treated like you are at the Stony Plain Golf course.
Challenging course but not very scenic
It's a pretty good course standard issue Alberta golfing
Updated: 19-May-2020 Even though it is still early in the season here the course is in good condition. The tee boxes are in good condition and cut. The fairways are cut, but there is still lots of winter damage and some are still soggy. The greens are generally good with minimal winter damage, freshly cut but a bit on the slow side. The new greens they planted last year are really starting to come around. Given some time, I am sure the course will be in tip-top shape for the summer.
The Golf course food is substantial and delicious. Check out the 2nd floor patio!
Solid test of golf on a very nice track. New greens (2020) settling in nicely!
A great staff makes a great golf club. Dropped in to hit a bucket of balls on a very busy weekday was greeted by a very welcoming staff that made a great day even better. Looking forward to teeing it up there when it warms up a little.
Love this place
Greens are brutal
Ok food, very inexperienced wait staff at the restaurant. Terrible wait times!
Wonderful place even if it is just to meet see friends for drinks.
Staff is friendly and always welcoming. Great golf lessons for the kids and food is always good.
I've had not one, but two vehicles dented by stray balls from the driving range while driving along Fairway Dr, due to the inadequate netting. Couldn't imagine taking a walk near there.
Thoroughly enjoyed the course.
The course this year (2019) is in great shape.
Good course and prices.
Great course and in great shape
Always enjoy playing this course but at the moment the Greens are in poor shape. Hopefully this will soon change.
Nice course and difficult
Great atmosphere and the food is fabulous. A place that you need to try even if you don't golf. The staff are super friendly.
Fairways and greens great shape. Service not great lady at shack she was on her phone as bothering her to ask for drinks & food. And apparently the course forgot schedule to cart person as no cart person till 17th hole. But it was great day for golfing!
Good experience except when me and my friend ordered beers at the little beer hut the old lady working there refused to give us the beer we ordered claiming she already gave it to us even though she didn't. I was quite disappointed with her service.
It is in great shape, like the new greens
The greens are the worst I've seen on a golf course at this time in the season. Grounds crew should be embarrassed.
Played at the course the other day, seen it from the road in an it looked really nice. Looks can be deceiving is lesson 1. First off I went and got a tee time, first the guy forgot to charge me for a cart an just assumed I was walking. I needed some golf balls and had to individually grab each sleeve and then case to find out a price oppose to having the Price's for anyone to see. After paying twice he gave me a cart key, I assumed the cart would have been rite outside the door with the other ones, it was not. After searching everywhere for the cart I was given I finally found it sitting by itself by the cart shack. I put the key in and find out nothing works. After messing around with it I asked the cart washer and he told me that ones been out of commission for a while. Now I had to go back inside to get a new cart.I finally have a new cart and went to go warm up at the driving Range. I parked an went onto the awkwardly leveled range with tee boxes that could use some real TLC. The boxes were unlevel as well with no where to hold your clubs. I finally finished up at the range an headed out to the first tee. I was at hole #2 when I realized if you don't want to lose 100 balls you better keep on the fairway. The roughs here were insane. Now I know the rough is suppose to be longer grass obviously, with that said there is a difference between rough and forgetting to mow the lawn or keep up with maintenance. The Chance's of finding your ball in the "jungle rough" are slim to none lol. Your better off just remembering were you hit then dropping on the fair way. After getting through a few holes I noticed the Greens could use some attention as well. The course lay out overall is for begginers for sure, im an avid golfer an Ill only speek up when I truly find something that just wasnt up to par or worth the money. I suggest trying 9 before you pay for 18 to be able to see what your getting yourself into.
Fairways wet and rough, greens excellent will play again.
Great nachos!
Nice course. Greens are in rough shape.
Visually stunning
Course in poor condition greens are bad
Golf course is in great shape. Greens are fabulous and fast Too bad the person putting the pins is on cheap drugs. They are never on flat spots ,too close to the edges and the flags are often at an angle. Obviously not a golfer.
Meh...
After a slow start the greens are back and fast. If you are looking for a great place to play this is it.
Really nice golf course. A little tough in the rough but that's a good challenge, might lose a ball if you're not paying attention. Greens were very fast. nice layout.
Greens and t boxes were in good shape some of the fairways were pretty rough though. Price was reasonable at $70 for 18 and a cart.
Course in great shape
Love the driving range. Course well maintained.
The course is in awesome shape. Staff are super friendly . Pace of play is awesome
I have never played this course but really enjoyed it. Some fairways are rough though. I will return.
I love this place as is. It is not crowded - Hope it will stay this way.
Dine and nine it was a good night
Greens in rough shape...
Always in good shape. Bunkers have good sand. Fast greens. Great stuff.
That chef wouldn't know what food was if he went to school for it
Beautiful 18 hole golf course.
Good course
First time here and very disappointed in the shape of the greens. Course was in good shape except the poor greens. Didn't help that the pins were in the middle of every dead area so it was like playing plinko. I wouldn't spend the money to play here again until the greens were in much better shape.
Awesome course, greens super fast!
Just used the driving range...
I'll start with the only positive part of my trip to the course. The girl working in the Pro Shop was very friendly, helpful, and informative. However, we stepped out of the pro shop, and upstairs to grab a snack before hitting the course. It's about here that things started to go poorly. The lounge was nearly empty (maybe 8 people seated), with no lineup at the bar. When we walked in, the waitress looked up at us from the greeting desk, and just looked right back down, no acknowledgement of us whatsoever. Okay, we're headed to the bar quickly, anyway. So, step to the bar, where the bartender is counting cash, and doesn't lift her head to acknowledge us, either. Alright, you're counting, maybe you can't stop without losing track. Eventually (and there's a solid pause in here), the waitress from the greeting area comes over, and tells us that we should go to the concessions stand at hole 10 to get our snacks and beer because it's probably going to be faster than the bar we are literally standing 6 inches from, with nobody else in the line. Why on earth can't you just serve us, so we can be on our way? Hit the concessions stand, and the poor girl there is trying her best, so kudos to her, can't complain about someone who has probably just started that job, and is basically on her own. Ah, golf! Tee boxes and fairways are in decent shape, but man, the rough just off the fairways was brutal, and ball hunting took exceptionally longer than it should for being so close to the fairway in several cases. Greens weren't in great shape, but they're new, so I won't say much there. Front nine were completed, and we'd started later in the day, so we stopped for a snack break at the clubhouse. We'd gotten vouchers with our green fees, so we thought we'd sit down for a few minutes, grab a bite, and head back out. The course was nearly empty, so no fear of tying anyone up when we headed back out. Dinner. Man, oh man, dinner wasn't great. Wait times were atrocious, the waitress absolutely didn't want to be there, and the food wasn't anywhere near spectacular. My wife had ordered bow tie pasta, which is supposed to be served finished with spinach on top. The kitchen was out of spinach, but instead of letting us know, and allowing her to choose something different, her meal was loaded with parsley as a sub for the spinach. These are definitely not interchangeable in a dish. She's not picky in the least when it comes to food (that's my job), but I'll quote her in saying that it was the worst pasta she'd ever eaten. So, once the bill was paid, and we left the clubhouse again, we hit the back nine. We knew full well we weren't getting 18 holes in before closing, so we'd decided 13 was a good number before calling it. Anyway, on the 12th hole, the course marshall showed up. Asked us what time we'd tee'd off to only be on the 12th at that point, and I explained that we'd stopped at the lounge, and that it took longer than anticipated. The response I received was that we shouldn't have stopped, you can't stop at the clubhouse, you have to play the whole course before you do. Listen, man; I understand that on a Saturday, at 11:45am, when the course is busy as hell, I can't stop, because it throws everyone off coming in behind me. But you're not going to tell me I can't stop, playing a sundowner, on a Sunday, with nobody in front, and nobody behind me. We paid the green fees for 18's, with carts, and then spent money (that we definitely shouldn't have) in the clubhouse and lounge. We had time for two more holes before closing, but packed up and left after our encounter. Long story short, my wife and buddy don't play golf, we were trying to have some fun for my birthday, and that was certainly dampened by the staff at Stony Plain Golf Course. I'd recommend management make some substantial changes. In the meantime, I live about 2 minutes from the course, but I'm about to book a tee time elsewhere and make the drive, instead.
It is a beautiful clean golf course but to pricey for me
OK Course under construction, exec lvl course. Price reflex caliber of course which is ok.
This is the only golf course in the area that refuses to allow kids under the age of ten on the course. At first staff said it was a Town of Stony Plain policy and there is nothing they can do about it. Later after talking with a manager I was informed that it is indeed the courses decision. What better way to grow the game of golf then for a father and son outing? For a course to just ban kids it is not realistic. Setting aside tee times or signing a waiver for the liability could be a start. This courses rule is not good for growing the game. No matter how many flags they stick in a field and call it a kids course. Hope this gets changed. I used to like giving this place my money.
Greens are in great shape. Looking forward to the season.
Had a great arvo of golf. Met new friends. Much thanks to Rob
Course is good. Greens are in bad shape. Pro shop has got more stock then previous years. They really need to fix the greens
Course is in pretty good condition. Staff is friendly. Will book again this summer for another round.
Played Stony Plain last week and have to say that they are doing an amazing job with COVID-19 protocols and are taking it way more seriously than other public places that I have also played this season. Their website is also super informative and easy to book on compared to the “Muni’s” in Edmonton. Five stars all around from the conditions to the staff.
The greens are horrible. 1 green that wasn't covered in sand.
Always a joy to play this course! Greens still fast as F!! Lol
A little wet but so much better than last yeat
Good prices
Course not in the best shape this year. Putting was very difficult due to winter kill. It will be better next year I figure. Staff are great
Family had reserved the lounge months in advance, came to make sure everything would be ready in the morning and was told all was good. Came to set up for dinner and the main cook came out saying there was no reservation and there was nothing he could do and no food for anyone though the tables were set for us. Demeanor was incredibly rude and abrupt towards the family.
Horrible shape, don't waste your time or money. It will be July before it comes back. Gave it one star because it wouldn't let me give it zero.
Great shape and a wonderful course
