We had fun!!

Callie Whytock

I personally would like to know what to do to get the staff to treat you with respect. Unless you're a member they don't care about customer service. I will be taking my services up the road to Edmonton Springs. They for one do not over book and do not make you feel rushed! If you read the responses to some of these reviews you'll see they don't care how they treat people, they try and justify it. Back to being rushed, they book so many golfers in with very little time between, you're always waiting at every hole! There was 4 of us and they had people booked to tee off 5 mins after us. I swear they have a quota on how many golfers they try to book in everyday! What's the point in going golfing if you can't relax and enjoy it?

Matthew Scott

Very disrespectful to beginner golfers. I do not recommend visiting this course if you are learning the game. Went with a group of new golfers to learn the sport and enjoy the game, we continuously allowed groups to pass and play ahead as we understand people play faster than we do. We stopped to let a group play ahead and we had a unfriendly experience with the marshall who was speaking and acting as if we are unwelcome at the course. I will not be visiting this course again, and I do not recommend.

D Ell

amazing amount of work done to this course the improvements are awesome and lots more to come very nice staff, we enjoyed lunch on the deck of the new clubhouse after was a wonderful day we will for sure be returning to play again very soon!!

Friday shotgun golf is the best

Tim Ratsoy

Ok for the price but greens should be better than they are

David T.J. Coughlin

Awesome place for a quick 9 ...good people and fairly priced...

Wes Ashley

Greens are great and it's challenging and affordable

James Stump

best value around. You wont be disappointed good shape for the price

Seung Hyun

$20 on Friday :)

Grant Clark

Lots of work bring done to improve the property. Holes have been rearranged so you start at previous #10. A bit of a long walk from #9 to #10, but it's all part of a nicer experience.

Zane Van Metre

Fun course for beginners

Michael Bonuccelli

worst servus I’ve ever received. worst golf corse I’ve ever been to in the city or in this case St Albert. the greens were trashed everytime i went there. only went there because it was cheep.

Terry Smith

Joan and her staff are very amazing. My son is a top ranked Junior golfer, at 13 years old and was treated very well. We have golf over 20 times this year at different courses and never felt rushed or pressured by any of the staff. Doug the Course Marshall even came up to us to ask how Ty's game was going. We definitely will be back. Thank you again Joan and staff. Dont believe the negative reviews.

Cam Stewart

Great course! Very friendly staff and awesome low prices.

Stoik Notion

For the price, you get what you expect and much more. Never change the price we will keep coming back!

Mary

New owners working hard to make posative changes to course!! Good service .

Miles Morin

Inexpensive

Kevin MacDonald

Greatly enjoyed playing here. Very walkable course. Will be going back for sure.

Jerald “Jerry” Fuller

It's tough to review this course. It's a far cry from a nice golf course, but for the price it offers great value and a very friendly atmosphere. Really a great place for beginners and the less serious golfer. For early spring the greens were quite decent but hard. And the fairways are rock hard with not much grass. But with the dry weather this should be expected. For the price it's a great place. Not seriously fancy, but friendly and comfortable.

Janessa Aarons

I dont believe any of the positive reviews on this page. Seem fake to me. The common problems that people are having here seem to continue without the owners of this place doing anything to rectify them. 1: Try hiring someone to run your clubhouse that has some customer service skills. 2: A simple trail fee or "walkers fee" for spectators instead of an outright ban. They still generate revenue from food and drink sales and are potential future customers. 3: Address your drainage issues so golfers dont have to get wet feet every time they golf here. Simple landscaping goes a long way to ensure proper drainage. 4: Re design your course configuration so tee boxes are not directly beside or behind greens. Customers dont enjoy errant shots sailing past their head. 5: Hire a course Marshall with some knowledge of golf and the rules of golf instead of a bitter gentlemen more interested in searching your golf bag for outside alcohol than enforcing golf rules and course protocol. Cougar creek, Stony Plain, The Links, ect dont search golf bags. Dont go looking for it cause you will find it!! 6: FIX the greens. No one enjoys putting through bumpy dead patches of grass. 7: And lastly. Try to address your customer concerns. Your tarnished reputation will only get better if you change your course management program. Writing all the fake reviews in the world wont make your situation any better. People see things for how they are when they get to your course in person.

Cooper Schykulski

This is the worst golf course i have ever been on. fairways are basically a swamp, greens are mostly dirt. and they messed up our tee time and didn’t seem to care at all. All the holes are the exact same, basically straight lines back and forth. This golf course is a joke, don’t waste your money here. You’re better off going golfing in the big lake swamp.

Matteo Cauti

Really good price, 17.50 for cart and 9 holes on Friday. The course is okay, layout is good but grass isn't best quality. Female staff in the pro shop were incredibly nice and friendly. However the marshal on the course was totally rude. He was rushing us though the group behind was comfortably far. He asked us if it's our first ever golf game and expected us to finish in 1.5 hours in a group of 4. For such a cheap course the marshal sure has some high expectations

Michael Bonuccelli

Good course. Great for Beginners. Staff were pleasant. Greens were a little rough, but for the price it can't be beat.

Jayne Rutledge

Beautiful setting. Nice walking course

Ryan Wright (Lombardy-92)

Trash conditions. Course was so flooded that carts get stuck in the swamps. Better off Staying home and playing imaginary golf in your head.

Challenging course. Friendly staff. I'm new to the area but think I found my regular place to golf.

Todd Whyte

Great place to golf for the price.

KANGTAEK LEE

nice place

M M

It's not PGA but it's a great deal for the course itself. The staff are friendly and the holes aren't too shabby for the price. The green is a little bit on the hurting side but again, great course for practice and getting out and enjoying the outdoors on a budget.

Jay

Went there yesterday with a few friends. Friendly staff, clean course, great prices and food. The new owners really improved this place since I've last been here. Jenna (the girl working the beverage cart that day) enhanced our experience and created a fun atmosphere every time she came around. She made it very enjoyable and we look forward to coming back soon!

Judi Adams

It seemed really good. We are going to try it out this Tuesday and if we like it, we will get a membership for next year.

J T

Good course. Great for Beginners. Staff were pleasant. Greens were a little rough, but for the price it can't be beat.

Jordan D Nelson

Great place for a round of golf with friends. The price is great and the course has a good layout. Great location.

Ryan Smith

Great course to play. Cheap fees, and lots of wildlife to look at.

Rick Stedman

Just played a round with a friend who aced the sixth hole. So I might be a little biased. A few greens are still a bit rough but it's the best value for golf anywhere

John Siggers

Great price

Mark Hermann

Did not feel safe golfing here in October 2020. Staff including the Marshall, Beer cart, and 1 of the 3 pro shop workers were not wearing masks and were easily within 6 ft of others. As well they did not implement mask wearing for the public while walking around indoors.

Jonathan Page

The day we went was a swamp due to rain the day before. Lots of water hazards even on a dry day. Some challenging holes. Nice and cheap

Melissa R

Wonderful customer service and staff. I will drive 45 minutes just to play a round at this course because of the polite staff and friendly people. This is a great course for all levels and a perfect bang for your buck.

M. Zhang

Beautiful court ... love the walking!

Killboy Powerhead

No bueno!! Do not waste your time. I dont care how cheap your green fees are...I wouldnt golf here ever agian..not even for free. Treat their patrons horribly (especially if you are under 40 it seems) and obviously use their low prices as an excuse for their lack of maintenance. Discriminating against young customers is only going to damper your future business.

Chris Gavigan (Sweet Basil Catering)

Hidden gem, it changed name a few years ago from JR's. Only $22.00 to walk 9 holes. Greens are a bit rough but the rest of the course is in good shape.

Gregg Weir

Course is in great shape. Excellent value and a fun round of golf.

Tyler Schmidek

Booked a tee time to play 9 holes for 2 people, had 3 people with us, 2 playing and 1 spectating. Was told we couldn't do this. I asked if I could pay for the specator and was told "every player needs to have golf clubs, our members don't like this it is a (premiere) golf course. Been to many courses that are actually "premiere" in and around the city and have done this with no problem. Easy money for someone not playing and using their course on a thrusday night for them! I see this is a problem for many people in the reviews. I really wanted to play this course as price is great and I've heard good things for a little country course, but this kinda wrecked the night. Maybe I'll try to play there again and see how it goes. Thanks!

Paul Day

Nice course some greens need work though

Ray Radcliffe

Excellent customer service and the course is in nice condition with all the renovations going on.

zeldaprime

I've played this course a lot over the years, and really liked it in 2016 when the course was in great condition with an excellent greenkeeper, and while I love the renovations the new owners have done to the clubhouse and staging area, unfortunately they were not really able to repair the course as quickly as they did the clubhouse. The course was in awful shape last year so the new owners did inherit a lot of work. The greens range from 7/10 to 3/10 quality with the average green being at about 4/10 (which might be generous). I suspect greens here will always be tough to maintain since the lower prices will bring a more casual golfer to the course, who are less likely to udnerstand green etiquette such as repairing divots. Fairways as well are pretty rough in many areas. The price is where the course makes up for a lot of value at 33$ on a weekend walking. The owners should take advantage of this year where more people are golfing due to COVID, as there may not be a guarantee of that in following years. I would recommend this course to any group looking to get out for their 1 golf round a year, or a group that is looking to do more focus on drinking than golfing. For those looking for good golf, there are better options available, however I look forward to what the new owners might be able to do to bring the course in to shape. (If that is their goal) A few course notes, owners did lots of trimming around the water, which aesthetically looks a LOT better than it used to. The par 3 6th hole is on a different tee box off of a matt, behind the hole where the drop zone used to be. Hopefully they move the tee box back to where it was as that was always a fun hole over the water, though I could see them leaving it in the new location due the 6th hole tee box used to be in range of 5th hole driver slices. Holes 10-15 are where the new owners can make the most improvements, as the holes as currently sitting are very boring, which combined with the poor greens and fairways can be a bit sad. While I will not return this year, I am sure I will give it another shot next year in hopes of better conditions.

Northern Alberta Redneck

Dont know where to start. The clubhouse attendant (whom I assume is the owner) treated me very rudely the minuet I walked in the clubhouse. She just starts unloading on me about no horseplay and told me to leave my beer in my car. (she just assumed I was sneaking alcohol onto the course). Then when I asked for a power cart rental she snapped again ranting about how her rule is you have to be 22 to rent a powercart. (I'm 25) I then asked her if there was a trail fee for my elderly mother to come along with our group of three. She snapped a third time "Absolutely no spectators" So I even rented my elderly mother (who has never played golf in her life) a set of clubs and paid her a full 18. This is NOT a championship course by any means!! Not to mention the course itself was more like a saturated cow pasture with severe drainage issues, a poorly designed layout that gets quite dangerous (several opposing fairways, teeboxes placed right behind greens, ect) and poorly maintained greens and fairways. Dont let the low green fees fool you with this one. You get what you pay for. 29 reviews and most of them are sour with a pathetic attempt from the owner to reconcile with the customers that they clearly ticked off in the first place.Owners of this place should give their head a shake and rethink their business plan. Treating customers poorly is a poor business plan.

Mary

New owners working hard to make posative changes to course!! Good service .

Scott Ross

Great course for the price, love coming here for a relaxing day of golf. Very good value for the price and friendly staff, highly recommend.

Dustin Hauck

Can't beat it for the price

C Note

The price is at least decent, but to be honest the course is an absolute dump... it's in very bad shape. I'll still give 3 stars because it at least looks like they're trying to put some work into it.

Lucas Mallette

really good

Jack Olantern

If you can get past the not too friendly air marshal who checks your carry-on bags for alcohol, and you don't mind lots of water on the grounds after a rainy night, and you don't have to go searching in deep sinking collapsing dirt for your balls, and you're okay with tightly placed courses where sliced balls can rip by you, and don't mind losing a lot of balls in big lakes, bogs and marshes, and you're okay with bottle neck waiting, and you don't mind ripped up greens and high winds on the open prairie, and you can handle rules of only 2 people and 2 bags per golf cart, and no sharing of clubs, than you might have a good time for an affordable price.

Randall Bishop

I play in the men's league here and honestly the pricing is what allows me to play weekly. Easily the best dead I have ever seen even if it isn't the nicest course in town. However, if its a wet season, the grass and greens are great. Play can be pretty slow on men's league nights. To the owners: Keep up the good work and I appreciate the pricing as it allows me to play far more than I could elsewhere.

Brook Tyler

I wouldn’t. First of all for a few bucks more you can golf at a much nicer course in the City like Victoria or Riverside. These course are better maintained, better constructed, and the service is far better. They would not allow me to have my son ride along with me, citing that “golf balls are like bullets”. Really? I guess the harpies behind the desk are better suited to assessing an acceptable risk for my child than I am. And don’t cop out by claiming liability is a factor. There is no more liability than having anyone else on the course. Dumb choice, I’ll take my money elsewhere. People are not crashing the doors to golf in this farmers field.

Stuart York

Nice place. Lots of water and overlapping holes. The next tee box might not be where you think it should be.

Me and three of my friends (young university aged women) decided we were going to go golfing earlier today and we chose Meadowview Golf because it was a new club near us. This is our first experience golfing so we were very excited to learn the sport, we spent probably a week researching golf etiquette and buying clothes that fit the dress code. We called ahead the day before to make sure everything would be in order, as well as to clarify that the restaurant and bar were going to be available. During our time at this course, our clothing (golf skirts and polos) was commented on condescendingly and while golfing we were told by one of the marshals that there was a big hold up and that he thought we were the problem, even though it was clear that we were waiting for the group in front of us. He told us that we would need to wait for other golfers before continuing our play, and that any time people caught up to us, we would need to wait for them to pass us as well. After nine holes, we went in to eat at the restaurant just to find out that Meadowview doesn’t have their liquor license and also has what seems to be a 9 year old girl working the counter. After this, as we ate our food, we were approached by another employee who told us that we weren’t allowed to eat our food inside the restaurant and that we would not be able to get back on the course for 45 minutes because everyone had passed us and there wasn’t any room for us. This was strange, because at any other golf course we have been told that you are allowed to eat in the clubhouse without any judgement. All of this was very frustrating and hurtful, so we requested a refund. We had initially payed $40 each for 18 holes and two gold carts, but because we didn’t use the carts or play the last 9 holes, we should have been refunded more than half of our previous payment. We were only given $12 back each. The way we were spoken to by all employees (excluding the cashier at the front desk and the child) was extremely condescending and demeaning and the four of us are very hurt by the attitudes displayed. We were hoping for a good first experience but it turned out very badly. I would not recommend going to this golf course if you are a young inexperienced female golfer, as we were completely disrespected.

Andy&Janet Weighill

Friendly staff and well maintained.

Tami Hoeppner

Golfed there for the first time today. I was a little hesitant because of the reviews but the price is amazing so had to give it a shot. Well it was FANTASTIC!! The staff was more than pleasant. There were super friendly, helpful when we asked about the leagues. Quick, efficient, very organized. The marshall and beer girl were the friendliest ever. Will certainly go back, and will probably join the ladies league. And the course was in beautiful condition and the lots of washrooms for us ladies. Good job J.R's!!

Sandra Findlay

Nice staff. Challenging front 9 and open back 9 for using your long hits. Can't beat the price. Greens are usually nicer than some higher priced courses.

Michael Durocher

Currently the greens are in bad shape. Value though is incredible! Nice open course which will play easy for low handicapped players.

Lauren Hannah

Great value, nice course!

Kyle

Course is in excellent shape!

Gordon Martin

Very basic golf course. Fun place to work on your game for $25.

Paul Max

Cheap frendly and a not.bad 18 holes

Adriel Michaud

Challenging greens, very inexpensive, and good variety of holes, but the layout is too tight. There are spots where 4 groups could be hitting within 100 yards from each other. Calls of "Fore!" are common and necessary.

ADSjr Capital Group, Inc

I have been golfing on this course since I moved to Edmonton in 2000. Its not the Mayfair or anything like that but its a decent course with lots of challenges on the front nine and lots of length on the back nine. As for the people running the course outstanding! I take the negative reviews with a grain of salt as sometimes we let the unhappiness in our own personal lives ruin a golf outing in the outdoors. Great value and a good golf course. The owner Joan and her sister are consummate professionals! In the 15 years I've golfed at JR I have not had a bad experience . I highly recommend this golf course and the people who run it. Daniel Skepple

Taylor Lingl

Excellent course! Friendly staff and beautiful clubhouse — with a very nice patio to enjoy post-round. Some great improvements on the course as well. We really enjoyed our 18 holes here and will be sure to come back.

Boilermaker Things

Pretty decent track. Lots of water but everywhere in and around Edmonton has this issue because of the ridiculous amounts of rain we have received this summer. Will play here again for sure.

Brandon Whytock

Tee times are supposed to be booked 7 minutes apart. Obviously over book(spent 5min waiting a hole) because the prices are so low. Course is one of the worst looking in the area and is only worth the 30 they charge. If you like standing around and waiting alot. This is the course for you. Should also note, course staff seem very rude to the younger golfers. NOT A PREMIER COURSE Since the owner responded. I did not bring liquor on the course. A 4th in our group did who I did not know personally. I was also told to leave yet my brother who was playing 5 holes back watched the Marshal catch an older couple with liquor yet they were allowed to continue. Yet me, who did not bring liquor on the course was told by the same Marshal to leave. Our Tee time was at 1:07 and we got off the the seventh hole at 4:55. Told to leave around 5:10 at tee box on eight. Couldnt imagine how long 18 holes would of taken. I play 3-4 times a week when I have the time and this course is only a couple minutes away from me. I will NEVER go back to this god awful course.

Dearl Bergstrom

Fun afternoon out but it's still wet out here

Samantha Belore

We had a great time. They have lots of COVID protocols in place including a sanitization station for their golf carts. The Marshall was friendly. The guy working the front desk was polite and knowledgeable when I asked him an etiquette question. Sure, there’s some spots that have water sitting but we drove around them in our cart and didn’t have an issue finishing the course.

Well maintained fun and challenging course. Felt a little rushed right from the start however, when we were told “you guys let’s go. Your up come one” 5 minutes before our tee time, while looking at filling out the names on the score card. I would expect that if I was late but I was early, raining, and at this point not busy. Would not suggest it to a beginner golfer that can’t play fast enough or the marshal will follow you around a lot. Again well maintained fun and challenging course all in all though.

Larissa H

Best bang for your buck for golf by far! I don't find any of the negative reviews to be justified at all. No one should expect tip top greens for the amazing price they give! I think CONSIDERING the price per round, the expectation is actually exceeded. My husband and I love golf but can't afford to play often at most courses in Edmonton. We are happy to drive out to J.R. for a round any day of the week. Thank you for providing affordable golf :)

Great prices. Friendly staff

Rudolph Reece

Great improvements by the new owners .

Trevor Kleijnen

Not the best course, but , LOVE IT anyway, Joan and staff are very good, value is fantastic, course is wet in places like most others this year. A real Gem that should not be overlooked and deserves respect for what it is.

Nerd E30

The new owners have worked very hard to get this place going in the right direction. I think it's going to be amazing with all the new changes. The new club house looks amazing and the staff is quite friendly. The course itself is in better condition then I've ever seen it and they are making it better every day it seems

Debra Scoffield

Meadowview Golf course was a great place to play Golf. Their still doing some, well needed landscaping, but all in all, it was a fun course to play.

dalton dickau

This is a great place for golfers of all skill, just remember to bring enough balls and a bit of bug spray as the fairways are tight and there is plenty of water hazards. 10/10 would reccomend

Hongsang Rho

I am enjoying this golf course. The staffs are nice and the price is impressive for quality. Year by year the course is getting better. I notice how hard they try to keep fairways and green nice. I recommend this golf course strongly.

Dean Neville

new facilities are going to be great. back nine greens need help but great price and friendly staff.

Wayne Łangston

A little wet today but still had a good round.

John Posty

Hospitality is the best of any course I have played. Course conditions are very good.

R- Truth

the staff ignore you like you are not a human I was suggested here by one of my friends the worst place to golf at

Dylan Valiquette

Been playing this course well before new ownership and haven’t had such a great experience as this on the course. You can see the amazing changes they’ve done so far and look forward to what’s next. You can’t complain about the prices and to top it off the cart girl (Jenna) was amazing. She made the round complete.

John Hogue

Too many reviews about rudeness. Going to pass on this course. Golfed Hunters Point in Welland, Ontario. Were greeted with two very friendly starters. It got us off on a great golf game, It's all about an enjoyable time. Perhaps JRs needs to learn a few pointers.

Auqal

Cheap golf yeah, but the marshall was really rude and inconsiderate, he asked us if we have even played golf before, because we were taking a little longer which really didn't feel professional and really made us not want to come back to this low quality golf course. I personally would not recomend this course to anyone other than someone who wants to be disrespected.

Glen Aarons

Low price, low quality. I have golfed at dozens of courses around Alberta. Many have their problems. In golf, I have always found you can look past the small course flaws if you try to focus on the good which usually outweighs the bad. I have to say, its very difficult to focus on the good when you are greeted ever so rudely in the clubhouse before you even have a chance to step foot on the course. Thank goodness I didn't have a run in with the course marshal I have read so much about in previous reviews. Very unprofessional. Just because your green fees are so cheap, it dosen't give you the right to treat paying patrons so poorly. I would rather pay a few extra dollars to experience good customer service rather than being treated poorly at a course in my own personal opinion is not worth a repeat visit.

Ashley Porretta

Amazing staff , awesome course and unbelievable food.

A H

Good people, Great price, course is in good shape. Only issue is the greens are not. Doesnt take away from the round, just makes things more challenging. I will be playing here again for sure.

Terry Osbak

We better since the sisters took over

Max Powers

The people who run this golf course are the rudest people I have ever dealt with.

Sue AB

Nice course. Very nice clubhouse. The improvements are already making a big difference. We got a full raincheck after playing 5 holes. No hesitation. Really impressed with the new management. No traffic noise, a fun round of golf. I highly recommend.

Cameron Moren

Decent course golf greens are in not best condition but still had a fun round with friends..

LorraineDennis Nyal

I play this course a couple times a week. I have to say that the staff is outstanding. Friendly and helpful. Makes for an enjoyable round. The improvements are great and will be fantastic once they are completed. Kudos to the new owners. It’s so reasonably priced and the clubhouse is very nice. Haven’t tried out the kitchen yet but I will be doing so.

Cliff Morin

The new owners are doing a great job with this course . And try the great sandwiches delicious!

Ted W Melnyk

Not a great course, however food in the clubhouse was awesome.

Michael Coombe

New clubhouse is sweet The course is going to be a little gem next season

Pat K

J.R. Golf Course is now Meadowview Golf and Country Club. I work here. Lots of changes going on.

Stephanie Eacott

With the new ownership this course will become one of the better courses around. New staff, new head pro and expanded facilities I'm excited to play here.

Elvie BAUTISTA-MARSHALL

I have been golfing at JR golf course for over 5 years now - the owners and all the staff there are always courteous and friendly. It is inexpensive to golf there but the only reason it is - is because the owners (Joan and Carol) truly cares about providing a golf course that is affordable for everyone and they work very hard to maintain it every year. Myself and the group of golfers I know deeply appreciate their hard work and dedication. The greens are always maintain and they are always trying to improve the fairways. I look forward to golfing many more years at JR golf course.

Ingrid Franchuk

I love this course! it is FANTASTIC value for the money, staff are friendly and cheerful. The landscape improvements that they are making this year are already having a positive impact, with far fewer mucky spots than in the past. Yes, some of the greens are a bit rough, but it has been tough everywhere this year, and the course is in quite good shape considering the uncooperative weather. For those reviewers who moan and complain about the conditions, please feel free to golf on similar conditions for twice the $$. I will be back and look forward to seeing the course next year after this fall's improvements.

Ryan Wagner

I had nothing but good things to say about this place since it changed to Meadowview. Golfed here multiple times this year and it was much better this year then last. That being said, 4 of us went to golf there tonight, my girlfriend was just a ride along as she is recovering from a foot surgery. They told us no power carts after 4:15pm.. my girlfriend can not walk. They refused to make an exception and were not friendly about it. They also did not mention this to us when booking our tee time and gave no solution to the problem. They turned away a paying customer and we’re not accommodating. Not to mention we had to drive out there and waste our Friday evening. I will be spending my money elsewhere and won’t be returning in the near future.

Steve Wildman

Wet

Ron Brisson

This cow pasture isn't worth the cheap rates they offer. There is a reason it so cheap, the greens aren't maintained and they don't care about their customers.

Sharon Smith

We always enjoy this course. New owners are putting a lot of work into it.

Jared Arcand

Decent shape for early in the year. Great clubhouse and friendly staff. Definitely a great place to take the kids.

Trevor Langlais

Cheap golf does not mean you are entitled to treat customers the way you do.That is a choice you make as an owner. I never expect pristine conditions on any of the courses I golf. But I sure do expect a certain level of customer service and acknowledgement when an establishment takes my money. There are several courses just a few minuets away that you could probably learn a few things from. You might find me there but never back on your course. My only hope for you is that you do not change. Keep your ways and one day there will be no customers left to treat terribly. To elaborate on response from owner: Describing my bad experience would only be repeating several of the previous reviews but it started with rude greetings from the clubhouse attendant right from the booking of the tee time.

Great value for this course!

Kyler Kowalchuk

Our tee time was at 10. Course was soaking wet from the sprinklers that were still going on some holes at 12 noon. We had to wait 15 minutes for mowers on the 7th hole, and probably another 15 minutes on the 8th hole. They wouldn't stop mowing to let us play through. Course was beautiful for the price, but maybe mow the grass before people have tee times.

Spencer Burchett

This course is in horrible shape. Tons of standing water on the fairways and the greens are about 50% grass and 50% dirt/sand. One of the tee boxes is just a range mat. Layout is basic. Location sets the course up to be wet and have tons of bugs. Staff are friendly though. Personally, I would recommend playing elsewhere, even though it is cheap to play this course.

Michael Amyotte

Decent coarse for the price, although the staff/Marshall take it way too seriously. People come here knowing the price and expecting to play a relaxed game. The Marshall is pretty ridiculous , yelling at us for being on the fairway with the cart yet there are wildflowers/weeds growing on it... A few holes smelled like you were teeing off in an outhouse(yet not outhouse or portapotty was around) I don’t know where they pump their sewage but it had me wondering. Yeah it is cheap decent golf but you won’t see me here again. Cardiff it is!

Al Barker

Excellent, great friendly people

Nina Jespersen

Beautiful course super cheap going back my new spot

annie earnie

other reviews mention upgrades... would have hate to have played here before. As of right now, fairways are water logged. I teed off, hit my ball straight down the fairway and managed to lose it in a deep puddle. I lost my ball in a massive puddle in the middle of the fairway!!! there is water everywhere on the greens. left with soaked shoes and socks. they should recommend a cart if you are planning on walking. this could be a nice course if they get the water situation under control. oh and they also screwed up our tee time reservation.... at least it is fairly inexpensive.

The Reverend Preacher

Great course for budget golfers. Well priced and very challenging. I will certainly be going back there again.

Adam Gordey

New owners and new name but this is a sweet affordable course with all the amenities of a course twice the cost.. Only issue is with the condition of the greens, but the ground crews are busy improving them every day and really how picky can a person be when getting an 18 hole round with power cart for like $30. I will definitely be back.

jamin holland

Me and my two friend who love golf wanted to play here, we were younger players but still pretty good at playing, since it was not busy we were going to tee off from the farthest tee box (the blue one), when our first guy went up and was about to swing we were rudely interrupted by the course Marshall, he ask why we were teeing of from the blue, we replyed because it's harder and we want too, then he told us not too tee off from the blue. After that we were followed from a distance by the Marshal. This is a rude golf course, never come.

Dylan Carmichael

The course isn't in the best shape this year due to winterkill and flooding, but the new clubhouse is awesome, it's the most affordable course in the Edmonton area, and I'm confident the new owners will continue to improve the course over the next few seasons.

Glen Peterson

Great value for your golfing $$$$ !! Well cared for course .The front 9 and the back 9 are totally different !! Friendly staff. I have been golfing here for 4 years and love it.

derek smith

Barry Haugen

Good bang for the buck.

Brendan Thompson

I was astounded by some the reviews when I stumbled upon this page. I have played no less than 200 rounds at JR plus many more at other courses around the city and the province over the years. At no time, not once, was I and my companion treated with anything but utmost courtesy and professionalism by Joan, Carol and the rest of the staff. For those of us who has the pleasure of knowing them both, I am not at all certain about the validity of the comments made by the poster(s). This is one of the very few clubhouses around that you are greeted warmly and accommodated promptly instead of indifferent Drainage : I suppose the early season run off and the two days heavy down pour of rain may have caused less than ideal conditions last year for the previous poster(s),but JR was not alone, majority of courses around were also impacted because of that. Greens : Myself, and many others, believe the state of greens at JR are among top 10% of all public courses around There is a reason this course is so cheap : Yes, the reason is the owner held steadfast to their vision. Affordable Golf for Everyone, which most of us are thankful JR golf course do not have valet services, stone club house, waterfalls. What they do have is friendly atmosphere, a good playable course for all skill levels at more than reasonable fee. I look forward to many more years golfing at JR and their hospitality.

Roland Zacharias

Friendly place!

Bob Woodford

Friendly staff. Many course improvements under way.

Marshall was rude and disrespectful, felt unwelcome and we were just numbers and $$ to get out on the course. They are trying to change the former image but it was not a comfortable experience. Ended up cancelling on the 1st tee will never go back.

Douglas Aberdeen

Awesome course marshalls

Dave Driver

Great for the price.

I recently had a poor experience at JR golf course. I was upset with management when I left the course so I came home and wrote a negative review. This has been bothering me for a couple days now. Like I said I had a single bad experience recently involving the course Marshall and clubhouse staff. I have golfed at jr for over half my life and always praised the course for being a great deal. The course itself has its issues but overall has provided me with many great golf outings. It has to be said the course is in very good shape this year, best it has ever been in my opinion. Or at least in recent memory. I will never return to the course. However I have had 80+ great rounds at jr in my life. I only had one bad experience. It was very unexpected. Odds are anyone heading to JR will be happy with the course and very happy with the fair price. Although the management and myself do not see eye to eye I cannot deny jr is obviously one of the best golf deals around Edmonton. I apologize for writing my previous review. I stand by everything I said in it. Based on one visit it was valid. Based on my overall experience at jr it was unfair. I apologize.

Today my friends and I chose to go try a new golf course rather than the one I usually go to. There has been a steep decline in staff behaviour since this club turned from JR’s to Meadowview golf. Starting when we got there, we were disappointed we could not use the carts despite having been told on the phone prior we would be able too. While we were waiting to begin golfing, the older woman at the entrance made a comment on how me and my friends were dressed. Her comments were very condescending and she was speaking to us as if she was speaking to a child. We all had on golf skirts and collared shirts, which I have worn many times before without comment, including at higher end clubs. The marshall was quite snarky and followed us around the whole time, making rude comments about how we were slow, when in fact there was a wife and husband who needed to use a disabled cart therefore needed extra time. The marshall did not apologize after realizing his error. After taking a break before starting on the tenth hole, we were told by another random man that we were going to have to wait forty five minutes before we were allowed to golf again, all because we took a ten minute break. The entire time we were referred to as “young girl” or “girl”. As we are clearly not children , the respectful term to have been referred to by would have been ladies. Not to mention, in the club house they have a child who is clearly no more than 8 or 9 handling food and cash. As a business owner myself, I am very aware that it is illegal to have a child that young working, and to have her handling cash. I would not recommend this golf course at all. The only positive experience we had in the three hours spent there were with the front of house employee Chris C. We were also charged for a golf cart despite not using one.

No good Very bad

I have golfed here all summer because their rates are low and their course is decent. I did however take my 7 year old with me today (who has come to just about every golf course in the city with me), and the "owner" met me before we got into the clubhouse. We couldn't golf unless he was golfing and when I said he would, she made every excuse in the book so we couldn't golf. I've never been spoken to that way. This is not the first time I've noticed the attitude from the people in the clubhouse. I will NEVER golf here again. Maybe sell it and go into another business?

Barret Dupuis

Went to Meadowview Golf for Father’s Day. Very impressed with the improvements the new owns put into it. It is my family’s new favourite course to golf at. Highly recommend it, the view is amazing, just outside of St. Albert but it is absolutely tranquil, service was exceptional.

Kyle Terrier

Great first experience here friendly staff good course ????will be back left a few out there I want back

Rick Prefontaine

Sure, it's not the greatest course in the Edmonton area, but it's good value for the money, and that appears to be their goal. Never had a problem with any rudeness from staff or marshals - had some good laughs with the marshal last week!

Chuck Stipchick

Price is more than reasonable, lots of water, but please do something about the greens, worst I've played on, looked like start of the season. Given the rain we've had they should be in immaculate condition.

Darren K

Very nice course and very friendly

Wayne Cocks

The owners are terrific people and this brings a great feeling to the coarse. It is challenging and great target golf. Can't say enough just a really good experience every time I go. Wayne

Taylor S

Great place for an inexpensive round of golf.

Tom Wade

Fairways to dry greens goods

sheldon waldbauer

Great for the money

Joey Dellaire

Love the back nine on this course. Love the improvements being done to the course.

Tim Minogue

had a good day. people very friendly. Nice place to golf

Elaine Deagle

I think they need to find a new greens keeper Fairways were swampy and the greens were like putting on the moon...full of craters and dirt and sand. The rough.. wow lost so many balls because the rough was so deep. You should put more time into the fairways and greens rather than the clubhouse

Masih Moh

first time golfer .made a mistake of coming to this place.i came with my brother and a coworker. right of the bat the whole staff came out running claiming they saw us put beers in our bags and demanded to check our bags..seriously ? Is that how you treat your customers by humiliating them . There were no beers but a bag of golf balls. they didn't even apologize and on top of that they kept hassling us to speed up when clearly nobody was behind us and the ladies that worked at the front had such a sarcastic smile towards us whenever they said anything it sounded so fake . warning to people from different ethnicity don't go here. they will come hassle you and search you for no reason .stay away. not worth it .

Ryan Luknowsky

The owner definitely needs some lessons in customer service.... won't be coming back to this place!

Steve Kowalchuk

Great value. At $30 for 18 holes during the week, it's hard to beat the value. Some great challenging holes as well.

Dave Marshall

Nice course, great greens. A lot of improvements going on right now which will make for a great course. Pricing is appropriate.

Terrence Bishop

Too many bugs and too much water

Lee Tappenden

I golf at JR's all the time, and have been for about 5 years. The people there are great, very friendly and go above and beyond to ensure that i am a satisfied customer. Very good value for the money you are spending. Relaxed atmosphere, and just overall a great experience every time i golf there. Highly Recommend!!!

Zaw Aungkyaw

Budget golf course. You get what you pay for.

greg posty

Great place to play golf and affordable

Matt Fraser

The JR golf course is an excellent place for a round of golf. The turf is impeccable and the grounds are well maintained. The staff is courteous and courses are challenging with a variety of holes from easy to difficult. Its beautiful along the lake with excellent views. I can't wait to play again. You will not be disappointed in this course .

Chris Klimosko

Always a good course. 18 full holes so you don't have to walk the same 9 twice. The Marshall is a super friendly guy and manages tee off's quite well.

Tyrone Corsaut

Course is in good shape. People working are nice and friendly. Best bang for your buck in edmonton

Paul Huedepohl

I hadn't been to this course in 15 years. I shouldn't have waited that long. You will get very good value for your money.

DavCor Vicklund

Tried this course once with my husband, myself and another couple will not be back! 1. Bought 8 drinks first 9 holes from the drink cart. 2. After 9 holes went into the club house to get hotdogs and a couple more drinks payed by debit. The debit machine was very slow we offered to cancel and pull out of ATM and was told " hold your horses be patient" 3. On hole 15 was confronted by marshal and was told we were 3 holes behind time. (we do know there is a time limit) No one was behind us at all as it was 7:22 p.m. One of the people we were with has only golfed 12 times prior, first time this season. 4. We skipped hole 16 and 17 and then we were going to return our carts after playing hole 18. We as ladies needed the washroom and was told the club house was locked so we could not go. 5. last but not least as we were walking to the clubhouse the marshal was complaining about how slow we were using foul language. ( he couldn't even wait for us to leave) There were people on the front 9 holes playing and we still couldn't go in. Thank u for your reply to my concern. You just defend yourself and cant even take responsibility for any of it? If you can live with that? Have a great day!

Jordan Mattern

I give this course 5 stars not for the quality, so much as I do the value. I've played a number of course in the Edmonton area this year, and the greens here are comparable, if not better, than a majority of the courses that you pay much more money for. I've been coming to JRs for years and the quality has remained the same while keeping the cost low. Love this course

G M

Nice changes from old format, making many improvements. I look forward to playing again. Price was good too

Robert Woodford

An affordable course. A couple of long long par fives.

Rudy Reece

This place is a great place with great staff and great price . Everytime I come here I get my money's worth.

Brenda Young

We have golfed the course a number of times and are looking forward to this season. The staff are pleasant and for a small course it offers a bit for everyone. No complaints and reasonable pricing. It would be nice if it offered a bit more of a lunch counter.

A Name

The drainage on the front nine sucks, and half the greens are in awful condition, but at $28 its the cheapest golf in the Edmonton area.

Ryan Senuk

Affordable golf! 25 bucks for 18 holes. The course isn't majestic by any means but they do put a lot of effort into it. Bring lotsa balls tho water and fescue galore. Staff are very laid back and friendly.
