Very poor private golf club experience. Here's why. 1. Course sits on very poorly drained land. Would stay wet for days after it rained. 2. There is not a tee to green cart path therefore there was at least 3 or 4 weeks all tolled where no carts were allowed due to weather. 3. Blue flags were also banned on those days therefore as a disabled veteran unable to stand and walk for hours at a time I was denied access to the course. Out of a 5 month season the course was unavailable to me for about 20% of the days. A golf membership shouldn't be a huge risk or gamble. A tee to green cart path (the likes of which you can find on all public courses) would solve this issue instantly. I spent $$$$ on green fees at other courses with cart paths. 4. When I suggested the cart path to the general manager there were 3 reactions. Firstly he laughed. Secondly he suggested I pay for it because thirdly, Its never going to happen. Disrespecful episode number 1. 5. If you depend on a cart to play golf then I strongly do not recommend a membership at Belvedere. 6. The guest fees are outrageous. This not not a $100 course in the public sphere. You can get on Northern Bear for $90. There is no comparison in course quality. Jack wins all day long. I couldn't ask friends to pay these fees. Another reason I spent $$$$ on green fees 7. Not once during the entire season was the grass deck on the practice range open. Imagine a so called country club experience where you hit off worn out mats every day all day. 8. I was not informed of the financial crisis the club was in at the time I joined in February having just moved from Ontario. The finances had been run into the ground by previous management and the current management and turf personnel and food and beverage staff are almost all new for this season. 9. Nowhere was the inexperience in working at a private club more evident than in food and beverage service. I believe this was a result of an attempt to save money in a department that lost money last year. 10. Administration worked very slow this year. I waited weeks for the head pro to get my Golf Canada dues paid until I just paid it myself. Paid twice this year I guess. 11. The grounds did not resemble a country club as the gardens were ignored this year. To save money was the reason. There are many better and cheaper public courses to play where the properties are immaculate. Course conditions were average at best. 12. There was difficulty this year with access to tee times. There were many reasons for this but the one that stands out to me was seeing the same names on the tee sheet twice in the same day within close proximity. Members not cancelling then not showing is another favorite especially when its booked as a member and 3 guests where someone doesn't show up. 13. Men's night has the tee sheet closing at 2. There are better ways to run a men's league than to close a block of tee times. Especially when access is hard enough. 14. The course layout is great if you like steep hills with the corresponding bad lies and blind shots. Not a friendly par 71. 15. The membership was not welcoming at all. Seems many who have paid transfer fees resent the new membership policy of no fees for initiation. Incredibly cliquey where on more than a few occasions I booked in with other members and they were not happy with a stranger. One time I booked in with the GM. When he noticed he quickly took an earlier tee time. I asked why, he said he was off duty. This was in front of many members and I felt extremely disrespected by this man for the second time. 16. This may seem a pretty harsh review but I did not enjoy my season at Belvedere at all. I do not recommend joining Belvedere. As said already there are many better course in the area.

Along with my dad and brother, I joined Belvedere this past winter and we just wrapped up our first season as playing members. The only downside was not joining (much) sooner than 2021. What an outstanding, outstanding year. Where to begin… 1) The golf…most importantly…this golf course is in excellent condition. (See the pictures I took with my old iphone which might not even do them justice.) These superb conditions probably should be expected of a private golf club, but still, it must be stated. There are some pretty decent public courses around (I played public courses all my life until this year), but those course conditions do not hold a candle to what Belvedere was like in 2021, even beginning in April. Such a beautifully designed course, kept in beautiful shape. It never gets boring either. 2) The people…I was expecting some snooty people, being new and at a private club, but Belvedere could not be more opposite. The members all have been welcoming and down to earth people. All the staff - from the GM to the golf pros to the golf shop to the administration to the food and beverage - are all just a pleasure too. Seriously, just great great people. 3) Food and beverage…the restaurant and lounge is one of the very best around Sherwood Park. We pop in for dinner, or beers, even when we’re not golfing and will continue to do that through the winter. The food, and service, is fantastic. The newly constructed snack shack is also in a great spot to grab a quick beer, a hot dog, or a breakfast sandwich at the turn between the 9’s. According to some older members I’ve chatted with, there were some lean years at the club about ~3-5 years ago. For all those issues, there’s truly no sign of anything now. The club is well run, the people and staff are great, the food is great, and most importantly the course and the golfing experience can’t be beat. If you can afford it… and if there are spots available (I think there’s a wait list at the moment)… I would highly highly recommend joining Belvedere. I plan to stay for years to come.

One of our favorite private golf courses in the Edmonton area. Great layout with exceptional conditions. Staff is unreal and the food and beverage is outstanding. If you get the chance to play, take it!

Thank you to Jason and the rest of the team at The Belvedere Golf & Country Club. We had an opportunity to play the course, which was in great shape, the staff were all super friendly, and the beers on the patio were nice and cool. All in all, a great day and a great club.

I have had experiences at many private golf courses in Ottawa, Toronto and Belverdere. Belverdere is great course for the money. Small tight greens and plays longer than the yardage book. Two years ago it was ( along with many golf courses) because of bad management in a challenging place. A new GM, Superintendent, Head Pro and Executive Chef has turned around and created a a wonderful golf experience. Wether you are a member at The Royal Ottawa, Islington or Belverdere it has been my observations that members get out of a club what they put in. In the case of Belverdere a very good investment.

My father had reciently passed and after the funeral we had a party in the clubhouse. The entire staff was phenomenal the food they made was exactly what we asked for. They were very accommodating and set up for us with little notice. I'd like to thank the entire staff and members of the Belvedere Golf and Country Club for all the help creating a wonderful setting and hosting the celebration of my Dads life. Thank you Daniel Dotto

Excellent food, first class environment, very good service.

Very well taken care of course. Staff is professional and friendly. Food is delicious. Quite expensive to golf here and the course itself is pretty tough in the sense you can't see most of the holes from where you tee off, and there's no maps on your scorecard. Definitely recommend a golf watch if you have one. It's also a private club so I can understand the price a bit.

Kirk Skermer

Yup...there is a reason it's private. Gorgeous course. Challenging yet fair. Once I win the lotto max...I'm in.
