12 midnight went to get late night dinner. I am dressed normal.searching for dinner and followed by security everywhere I went. I am a 53 year old man who has money in my pocket to buy what ever treated like a criminal because I'm native and wearing a black toque is the only reason I can figure why security decides to follow me everywhere I went in the store by shadowing me. I also have my licence for security so I know when I'm being shadowed. No sooner was I at the till paying for my Items he returns to same spot that he pretty much dug a hole into because he was standing there for quite some time before I walked into metro. That left me with a very bad impression of this establishment and it's security.

Great customer service, even with most tills being closed due to the pandemic their staff has the self checkout cleaned and sanitized quickly. Furthermore the staff is helpful and friendly to every patron. Amazing baked goods, would recommend the in-store cinnamon rolls and oatmeal cookies if you're looking for something closer to homemade taste. If I am not going to Westfort foods to support local. Then my best option is Metro, there are better places to get slightly less on certain items but the service and good baked goods always has me returning. Would recommend the Author Street Metro any time.

This location is EXTREMELY busy. great produce, and very good fresh bread. lost a lot of stock when they renovated to accommodate the fast food frozen food section. which now takes 1/4 of the store. Not many fast cashiers. plan to wait in line to check out.

Produce seems overly picked over and there are always shortages. Offers same selection as other grocery stores when it comes to meat, dairy and dry goods. Staff seem miserable, but when its homogenous amongst the staff to put in their time and do no more I blame management for not motivating them.

Went mid-day on a Monday. Lots of empty shelves in the produce section. Store was relatively clean. Clear walkways. Checkout was very quick indeed. Friendly staff all around. Would have been nice to not see large sections of emptiness.

I received gift cards for Metro through agencies within the city during the pandemic to help supplement my odsp income. Gratefully I was able to shop here & experience a different way of shopping for groceries. Everything was so beautiful. Fresh. Bright & vibrant as soon as I walked in. It was almost overwhelming. I had a short list. I couldn't get distracted from my list. I had a little extra here & there which came in handy at the check out. My short list was an arm long receipt. HOWAH! Luckily I had my own bags. The cashier was friendly & patient as I used this card then the next slowly deduct dollar after dollar. My rent is paid. My bills are paid this month. This is how I survive now on gift cards to get by. This is reality of poverty in Thunder Bay. #UNIVERSALBASICINCOMENOW!

Excellent selection of fruits, vegetables. The seafood section is stocked with wide variety of fresh, frozen, and live seafood. Tons of meat, cut in store with great specials every week. There is bakery in house that creates one of a kind treats for special occasions. The cannolis are deelish! Beernis now offered at this location! I shop at the Arthur's Street store regularly and I find that there are never enough cashier lanes open! I went yesterday on a busy Saturday and there was 4 of ten lanes open and each one had a huge lineup. Overall, great store if you shop in off hours!

I went to pick up the weeknight meal deal and asked the gentleman at the deli what it was and he said sushi. I asked which and he said whatever is there is there. I checked out and my sushi was more then the advertised price. I was frustrated that I could not get a straight answer and return to my sushi and the manager was very polite at customer service and made the situation right However Santo gave terrible 1 star service.

Honestly I should have reviewed this Metro a long time ago but I think I took it for granted. This is the only supermarket I go to and it's also the only Metro I go to in thunder Bay. Everything is always so fresh! Everything is always available! I just love it and everything is super easy to find. Also the staff are very helpful. So yes I'm definitely giving them a 5-star!

It's funny I had the same experience as telly except the security guard had no visible clothing I was actually terrified I mentioned it to Jim the manager he told me he didn't understand why I was over reacting and if I was there to shop it shouldn't matter if I'm terrified while shopping I made a complaint to corporate headquarters in regards to mine and the managers conversation this morning Update got a call back from the manager Jim on April 18th and he asked me if the guy that followed me had a towel on his head ☹️ I've been waiting for head office to call back but no call so I'll leave my complaint here great managerial skills and blatant racism coming from this place

The layout is a little harried, making the store feel more crowded than it actually is. The produce looks good but the spotlights, though LED, are pointed more into the eyes than onto the produce. The store is well lit, even into the narrower aisles, and the variety seems plentiful.

Nice store. A friend told me they sell fresh pizza dough. I could not find it, asked a worker, he was very friendly and directed me right to it. Store was very busy. Thank goodness I had minimal items and could go through the express lane. All the lines were tremendously long. I find all 3 metros in Thunder Bay never have proper cashier coverage, no matter what time of day.

Well stocked, clean and bright store, but every time I'm there the line ups are atrocious. I go off peak shopping times and 10 to 12 people online, very few cashiers open.

Deli service staff are indifferent. Shelves of deli items are often sold out and not restocked. Soups are started too late and are stll frozen bricks at lunch time, when they remember to even start them.

Cashiers are always rude. I always have people following me during the day” and when I go to check out, they go stand at the main door with another worker and watch me. and the cashiers get annoyed when I pull out my status card. U would to if u had one. And they have to cal the manger, which I don’t mind waiting at all. RASIST WORKERS. I just smile and say have a good day.

This store says they do not give the student discount on Tuesdays however the other metro does so that's the biggest reason for lower star count.Also a few of the night cleaning staff are incredibly rude but that's not entirely metros fault as it's hard to find good night shift minimum wage employees I would assume.

We are from Alberta and stopped at this grocery store to pick up a couple of items on the way to the lake. When it came time to pay there was only one till open and at least ten people with full shopping carts ahead of us in line. Needless to say but we ditched our cart and went to Safeway down the street where we did not have to wait.
