Very disappointing to see an employee...appeared to be a seasonal worker complaining about filling bags of soul. I've witnessed 5yr olds working harder to fill a bag with dirt as instructed. Not a customer service rep or qualified DeGroots employee to be found to answer questions soooooo...we bought very little. Cashiers were plentiful...4 of them for 2 customers...no wonder they have so much inventory. Sadly we left without our intended purchase because we couldn't find anything we were wanting. Very unimpressive!

Find a different garden center. Some employees here have no idea what they're doing. I asked for a specific type of soil that they sell. A lady by the name of Diane rung it through. Only she rang in the wrong one. Not a huge deal right? She proceeds to ask me "Well what's the difference?" & "Can you tell me the difference" In such a condescending tone, as if I wasn't stupid for suggesting she made a mistake. If they were the same they would not be two different products. It isnt up to you to decide what I want.

My dad had always wanted a Ficus Tree. So, for Father's Day, we got him a Ficus Tree from DeGroot's....Where else? He was thrilled! I moved it into a pot and placed it in his living room so he could enjoy it. WOW! I had ZERO idea how finnicky or temperamental these fellas are. I read how to take care of them and passed the info on to my dad. He tried....But, alas, Fred the Ficus didn't make it. Dad had gone to DeGroot's to explain what is happening with his tree. He speaks in broken English. I believe he got the staff to understand and they offered to exchange his tree for an easier one to take care of. So, yesterday I took him to exchange his Ficus for a Majestic Palm. Sincerest thanks to Rose and Lynn at DeGroot's for helping my dad out and for their patience. It's very much appreciated.

Sold us mulch they didnt have. Went back into the store to tell them they dont have the mulch and they wanted us to wait in a 30 min line we already waited in. Purchased different mulch and said to the cashier "you do have this one right?" She said yes. I asked if she wanted to check on the phone or radio and she said they had it. Left the store to go get it and they didnt have it. Made me stand in line again. Spent 3 hours in the store. 3 hours wasted that I'll never get back. Owner was aware of the situation but did not care

Love Degroots! Talented, knowledgeable staff, always willing to help. Lots of interesting plant choices, and many, many other items garden, and plant related. They also stock pond equipment, materials, and water plants, in season. In addition, their hardscaping section is quite vast. Need a garden designed, and/or installed? Just finished our Landscaping. The designer Arron was right on with his ideas. The workers Matt and Chris were the most pleasant men we have ever had at our home. these men know their stuff. they were very conscientious meticulous and carrying in their work. Every request or question was met with, "no problem, what ever we can do to make things the way you want them." There was no hurry hurry get it done. Loved the way they worked. And, they obviously love their job. Would recommend these folks to anyone having landscaping done.

The worst business in Town! They don't answer phone calls or get back to you. They put gravel and stone down 60 feet of my new fence. Its been may and they still haven't corrected it. They also raised the elevation of my neighbors yard and I am getting flooded now. The Ontario Landscaping Organization will be in touch with them!! Dont do it!!

Disappointing experience today. Husband went in for one thing. Knew where it was, should of been in and out in 5 minutes. They didn't have it on the shelves. Someone went to look for it in the back . . . 30 minutes later my husband is still waiting for the person to come back. Turns out they forgot about him. Eventually got what we came for. Service here is very hit or miss. It's either excellent or its poor, its never inbetween. We have been frequenting other green houses because of this. Stopped in today because it SHOULD have been more convenient.

This is my favourite greenhouse to go to in Sarnia area. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They offer several different classes. Some are free of charge. Even if you are not purchasing anything, it is nice to walk around and look at all the plants and flowers.

If your neighbor is having Landscaping done, Degroots does not care about your side of the yard. As per John Degroot, its all about the paying customer. I had a new fence that I installed and paid for. Degroots thinks its okay to put stone 30 feet in length against the bottom of the fence. 2 to 7 inches high. Because of this I now have fence boards coming away from the fence. At the start of the project, Degroots was told not to touch my fence! Pretty sure we will be seeing each other at court!

Aside from the wonderful staff, plentiful nursery and Teahouse on site...they open their doors to community events such as the St. Joseph's Hospice Dancing Under the Stars Gala. Giving not only their time (John DeGroot), but their Greenhouse year after year. When you come to DeGroot's you are not only supporting a local business, but the generous work that this employer does for his community.

This is the go-to place in Sarnia in my opinion for anything nursery related. You get trusted advice and they have very nice products. I deducted 1 star because the prices on some things are absurd. $100 for a ceramic pot is ridiculous when you can get one the same size and same material for $30-40 at Winners/Homesense. Plants-wise, they're great. Will be back for all of our gardening needs. 4/5.

By far the best customer service I've ever experienced. Had a few dying plants out front that I recently bought and when I went to ask for opinions on how to bring them back to life the guy actually drove to my house inspected my soil, brought me 3 bags of mulch and three brand-new plants..... no charge.
