Drove around to 10 similar companies and this one was the best by a long shot. Pricing was amazing and the service was first class, took me a total of 10 minutes from purchasing the Bark mulch to driving out with my truck bed loaded and on my way home. Also I live deep south Edmonton and had no idea Rockland was located at the Village at Blackmud Creek. My choice for landscaping needs going forward!!!

I purchased some dirt. It was dirty. It provides a good base for growing grass and leveling a lawn. The dirt performed very well. When I opened the bag of dirt, I found...dirt. Not only would I buy it again, I have bought it again. If you are looking for a bag of rocks, do not buy this bag of dirt. If you are looking for a bag of dirt, then this product is for you.

Gary helped me with the purchase and he was so kind and patient. [UPDATE : after having to ask and telling them their competitors price they price matched the Edmonton based landscaper and knocked $10 off the delivery. We shouldn't have to ask for competitive pricing but at least they got back to me with a fair price] Every time I go here, I'm dissapointed by the price or the lack of understanding on how to please a customer. Two major issues here ; price and their need to charge anybody living in starling/trumpeter and extra $25 for delivery. Price : 1" limestone is $140/yard. Go down Vileneuve Rd to the west about 7 min to the lafarge yard and pay $40/ton. 1 ton = .74 cubic yards... 1 yard of garden soil is $44 1 yard of garden soil from Edmonton based landscapers $38 Delivery : starling in literally 100 feet from the St. Albert border yet they insist an additional $25 for delivery. So apparently the 8 min drive down ray Gibbons costs more to deliver then the furthers nether regions of stalbert. It's unfortunate because many of us in Starling would like to be going there as they have a good assortment of items...however the costs just don't add up. Sucks as they do have great staff on site that are extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

Website not always accurate - go in person to check supply- While we know this generally, this company was really off, but they have taken that feedback and are updating it! I changed my rating from 2 to 4 post talking to Amanda, who is great with customer service. We had some challenges with mix up on stones and charging fees, but Amanda got it all sorted and was very kind and understanding. We appreciate the consideration and prompt response.

I've been to Rockland a number of times over the years, always a top shelf experience. The staff is friendly and the yard is very efficient. The loader operator was very careful loading gravel into my truck. Consistently a good experience with quality products at a fair price. I'd highly recommend.

Gary has consistently and generously supported our community projects with donations and technical support to both the Elmer Gish School NatureScape and the St Albert Community Food Forest. His product is top quality, the delivery timely and the service cheerful and above the call of duty...Our last delivery had the driver hop out and help us move slabs of granite to catch the sand and crush so it wasn't absorbed into the tall grass. That was MUCH appreciated. Gary is always cheerful and helpful and overtime I drive by Rockland I blow a kiss! ;-)

Great selection, great price and great service. While at location, Gary was incredibly helpful and had some great tips for our water feature we're planning in our back yard. He was also more than accommodating with his time helping us choose a feature stone for the front yard. Delivery went super smooth and the delivery driver, Mac, was great help in getting the stone we chose in place with the forklift. I also went back and picked up a half yard of rundel 2"-4" stones and was in and out in 10 minutes. If you need rocks, couldn't recommend more.

We have really enjoyed working with Rockland over the spring/summer as we purchased materials for our landscaping. During our initial contact, Gary was so efficient in his response (kindly answering all of our questions even though we had contacted them Afterhours) which made an amazing first impression. They have also delivered the (great quality) product on time, and today, when we exchanged a product we had purchased too much of, we forgot to take our tarp off of it before we left for work. We came home and saw that the driver who did the exchange had neatly folded the tarp and put it on our steps - this is an example of how Rockland has gone above and beyond! Thanks, guys - we will continue to use Rockland when we do our front yard landscaping and definitely mention your company name when friends and family are looking for landscaping supplies!

TLDR, USELESS!Went two days ago and got a bag of black mulch. Everything went fine. Went back today to get a couple more and it started raining. I was told by the operator that I would have to help him fill the bags. Fine, it's pouring but I want this done. So as im getting the bags ready he tells me to meet him by the pile where he's explaining and complaining how to do this without the proper equipment and keeps telling me what I have to do. Finally, I've had enough and tell him I'm going to get my money back. I get back to the till and you could tell that he called ahead because she won't meet my eye as she says "too wet?". No, I tell her that the guy won't stop complaining. That's it, as I'm leaving, him and another guy are getting in their trucks as they laugh at me. Disclaimer, you have to give at least one star to rate.

My family has been using the services of Rockland for the past few years for landscaping our new homes. They are consistently providing courteous customer service and quality products at prices lower then their competition. They are knowledgeable and guide you onto how to complete easy to difficult landscaping jobs. We had multiple large boulders, rock, and mulch delivered to our house and the delivery crew was very professional and took extra caution not to damage my driveway and did clean up any mess that they may have made. I would recommend this business.

They are good for other things but soil is not one of them. Ordered 12 yards of topsoil. I've never seen so much clay and organic matter in topsoil before. Extremely inconsistent. They are conveniently close to my house but I will start using Burnco for my landscape products. Called to let them know of the situation and to sum up the response I got was " it is what it is."

I have been dealing with Rockland for the past 10 years since we moved to St. Albert. My last experience I dealt with Gary. I showed up on Friday evening at 17:30 just before the long weekend. We were looking to purchase a rock for the front of our house and have numbers sandblasted on it. Gary was off site and he meet me there. When Gary arrived, he and one of his staff were very helpful and took their time to help me out. He helped me pick out a rock and I asked him to get the house number sandblasted on the rock. I gave him the font we wanted and I left it up to him how and where to place it on the rock. They called me the following Tuesday and told me that it was ready. I picked up the rock the next day and it looks amazing. It was very well done and the placement and size of the numbers were just right. Turn around time from picking the rock to have it completed was very efficient. We will continue using Rockland for our future landscaping projects.Just want to thank you and your staff at Rockland for very good customer service and that we are very happy with the great service and experience we received.

We came into Rockland on a Friday early afternoon. My wife and I had a vague idea of how we wanted to landscape our back yard to create a fire pit area. We had recently regraded around the house and where not entirely sure what the best process would be to keep the grade, provide a solid base for our decorative rock yet maintain the grade. We were also somewhat undecided on what kind of boarder we wanted. We looked at the various displays of product, that were very nicely laid out, and went to speak with a customer representative. He was only on the job for 4 days, yet his product knowledge was on point. His knowledge of the delivery systems was also outstanding, which would come into play later. When he realized that our questions were a little more than he was comfortable with he passed us off to a more senior person, possibly the manager. At any rate she spent a significant amount of time with us discussing options as our initial plan had to be modified. She gave us several options and sold us on what was one of the more cost effective ideas. We ended up buying 2 yards of road crush, 2 yards of limestone, a yard and half of bark chips and a stone fire pit. As we only had a half ton pick up, we opted for a very reasonable delivery using their flat bed as it would have taken us 8 plus trips to gather all the materials. The Big Bag system worked great. the additional 30 dollars or so per bag was well worth it. On Tuesday we had everything delivered very promptly, with a courtesy approximately 1/2 hour before arrival. The crew, Brian and Mac were fantastic. Very friendly, efficient and safe. Mack was newer on the fork lift, yet he got everything unloaded and place in a timely manner. Long story short, the yard is well set up, the staff is excellent and the prices are very very good. We will be using them again! Thank you to Garret, Amanda, Brian and Mac!

When reading reviews, most people want to see the basics in a few sentences. Gary and the whole crew are prompt, fair, and follow through on what is promised. You could go with a larger chain or search Kijiji to get it super cheap but why would you do that when we have a local small business that goes above and beyond!

After visiting all of the landscape companies in the Edmonton area we ended up choosing Rockland Supplies. They were an excellent team to deal with!!! My wife and I did not know which type of flagstone to use for our landscape project at first but with Rocklands variety it was easy to choose from. We ended up going with Creston Valley flagstone. Rockland Supplies had the largest variety of flagstone to look at with multiple pallets of the Creston Valley flagstone to choose from. Rockland also allowed me to purchase more then I needed and then return any unused rock. With flag stone installation you always need extra as it makes it so much easier when putting your puzzle pieces together. Most other places do not allow this and the Rockland team worked with us in order to make our landscaping project successful. I would highly recommend using them if doing any flagstone installation.

Good prices and not that far out of town to drive to. I have always had very courteous and kind service from the people at the tills and the operators. It obviously gets pretty busy on the weekends in the summer. I'm usually grabbing mulch, topsoil, crush or washed rock.

Very poor service, I called at 9am inquiring about my delivery of rock for the day and was told “ The driver has the paper work “ and should be shortly. 3hrs later and still nothing. I called again and some woman on the phone gave me attitude like she was trying to brush off my concerns. If this is how they do business I’ll be going elsewhere. I am a St.Albert resident so I don’t under stand the delay and would prefer to shop locally but not if I feel treated like a second class citizen.
