Stopped by tonight and asked if they had availability. The front desk clerk said that they did, and quoted me a rate. I asked to view the room at which point he said if I wanted a cheaper room to go down the road. My husband and I are on a house purchasing trip as we have just retired and would like to find a hobby farm and leave the hustle bustle if Vancouver Island. I indicated that price was not an issue but because we have had some poor rooms in the past, we wanted to have a quick look. He treated us like we were trying to go and steal or mess up the room and told us to go somewhere cheaper. We are business people who ( i feel) have never appeared to be the type of folk who would mess up a room. I was incensed at his accusatory style. Luckily, we found a room in town and were happy to pay 2 times the price and received exemplary service at Billy Barker Hotel.

I've never reviewed a motel before, but I felt compelled to after this stay. A Super 8 is a Super 8, but after staying at a very overpriced lodge on the Cassiar, I wanted a known quantity. So, more than double the amenities at less than half the price at the Super 8 in Quesnel. The front desk person was friendly and chatty, the room was clean, the parking lot was close, well-lit and safe, and there's a big grassy area for dogs. I couldn't ask for much more. If you're looking for a clean, inexpensive, hassle free night, stay here. I will again.

I dont know why these guys only have a 3.9 star rating? I have been in hotels all over the west and this one is right up there. It maybe a 2 star but it was very clean, all the amenities a couch, the bed was so comfortable and the rate was really reasonable. The parking lot is lit up very well and it is a safe place with no worries about break in's. I will always stay here when im in the hood I recommend you do the same.

This place is decent. The room was clean on entrance. No bug problems, no forgotten housekeeping. The free Continental breakfast is pleasant and the staff are accommodating even if they don't say much. If you are the keep to yourself type, this place is good. If you have kids, they only have the two queen beds option. There is no room for a cot. Make sure you are clear on how many are in the room for bathroom items.

Absolutely horrible service from the owner, we booked a room online and when we arrive he made us book again for a room that was $15 more! The room was nothing like the pictures, bugs all over the table with the coffee and bugs in both beds. We went down to talk to him to get the money back but he said that the room is fine and we moved the covers on the bed so he was not going to refund us. I would sleep in my car before staying in this dump. Would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE.

Be very weary about booking here if you are traveling with pets.. they only have 3 rooms for pets available and don't look at reservations to see if you have booked with pets. The staff at the front counter changed our room 3 times as we were gathering our belongings that we needed to bring in with us. He was also very unfriendly.

I had such a bizarre negative experience with this business that I felt obligated to share it. I actually did not stay at the motel because of extraordinary circumstances: I was forced to dramatically change my plans because of an extended 75+ km closure (due to flooding) of Highway 97, the only route through northern BC. I had booked a reservation through a third party website and so did not expect the motel to issue a refund. But I called them anyway as a courtesy so that they could reassign the room to another customer. Motel staff said they could not refund the room because it was booked through an outside party (as expected) but suggested I call the travel website support. Website support was understanding of the unusual situation and offered a full refund. Apparently however, credit card billing was handled by the motel location, so support put me on hold to call the motel manager/owner to complete the refund. The website representative afterwards apologized that the owner refused to refund the charge and then hung up on the representative. It was very surprising that the third party booking agent (located in Florida) was much more understanding of the situation than local management. A very unusual situation, but may be indicative of this location's attitude toward customers.

They had this bizarre pet policy where your pet isn't allowed on the bed. Which isn't possible for me cause my tiny 5 lbs chihuahua sleeps with me and would have spent the entire night crying had I forced her to stay off the bed. The room was clean but was something out of the 80s and the bathroom was very worn. Lots of paint worn off the tub and the showerhead was very calcified. The continental breakfast was very small. I stayed at the super 8 in William's lake a week earlier and that one was much better.

While searching for a place to stay the evening this animal friendly hotel was very comforting to our needs. Even our fur baby. The price was purrrfect. The room was fresh smelling. The linens comfortable. The TV was situated at a pleasant viewing. However, the water did not stay hot for my bath which was unfortunate. Short bath.

Buddy guy at the front desk kicks us out because he can't speak English well and there was a misunderstanding wouldn't give us a room and was really rude and wouldn't let us explain our situation. just go to the sand man best option
