Our go to provider for all landscaping requirements. When we changed the front and back patios, we ordered all our materials from AL&D. Everything received was high quality and came on time. Great place, highly recommended for your outdoor design projects, landscaping, materials and gardening products. Employees are very nice and no knowledgeable as well.

It has been hard for the landscape and garden centres the past few months with the lockdown. So when it was lifted for them, they went into hi gear to stock up. We went looking for a specific plant and unfortunately it was already sold out. Not surprising. They have done a good job with direction markings that keep customers will spaced. The checkout is well done too. While waiting in line for an available cashier, a person actually starts writing up your invoice, so by the time you get to the cash half the work is done. Parking is a bit limited, but not a severe problem. Good work in though times.

I have been a loyal customer at Artistic Landscape along Bank Street for over 40 years, when the old Mrs. Schmitz was still running the place. It was such a joy just to walk around in the gardens and look at the amazing selection of perennials. Alas, ever since she has been gone, things have gone downhill. Between the potholes in the long driveway and the trucks, you have to literally snake your way in if you don’t want to damage your car. The worst is the tiny parking lot riddled with more potholes and puddles. The totally neglected parking lot is an outrage. When I asked for the manager to complain, he was “busy” and the cashier told me the lot was “just washed out”. I told her that it shows a lack of respect for the small retail customer. You would think that management would install new asphalt on the driveway and pave the parking lot given that they are selling all kinds of pavers and paving supplies.

Purchased artificial plants as advised by the owner as they are considered experts. Just took winter wrapping off and other than many returned in the first few months after install last summer the remainder are pretty well garbage. The IKEA replacements purchased at a fraction of the price are doing just fine.

We have used Artistic as our primary source for annuals and perennials for years. We had the chance to use them for a small side yard design and couldn't be happier. Andrea the designer and her crew of two were fantastic. You get what you pay for!

Bad customer service. Rude over the phone and in person as well. Looked at me like I was from another planet when asking for help in naming the type of stone I was after, as if the average person should be aware of such things... Will not be returning or recommending to anyone.

It's very busy, hard to find staff to ask about trees. When you find them some are not friendly some has no knowledge. I kind of regretted that I asked questions about serviceberry trees yesterday to the person who I was pointed out to. First she couldn't find where the trees were. Then she wasn't happy that I had a cart with me. I was told that minimum waiting for delivery was 3 weeks or more. So I purchased my two serviceberry trees today from Richie's feed and seed, Richmond. And they will be delivered next week. I am very happy about it.

Beautiful selection and nice staff but horrible guarantees on their plants. After an extensive landscape project I bought all new trees for my yard and a very expensive Magnolia has already died. Called them at first sign of stress and they said they don't guarantee their stuff. Now I have a dead $300 tree that isn't even a year old. Tried insecticide but it's too far gone. Won't ever make a big purchase their again.

Put down a $400 deposit on work in June that has not happened yet in September. They could have at least told me they won't get to it so I could go to another company. Very difficult to get a hold of the representative I was working with. (Update: other than waiting 3 months and the lack of communication the work was finally done. The men that came did a great job.)

A great place to browse through hundreds of different stones. They have a massive inventory that you can walk through to get ideas or you can stay in the shade and browse through the catalogues. They also have wonderful staff on site to help you with selections for stones or plants. Delivery rates for landscaping materials are fair and they offer split loads as well.

I had a problem here and the owner called me up and apologized saying he would take care of me. He never did and I ended up going back to buy more sod and the sod had a disease and ended up dying. I showed them the pictures and tried to get my money back but they ignored me. Bad service!!

We found Artistic nearly 15 years ago, recommended by BBB and friends. We had them come and draw up a plan for our front yard, including a small sitting area and walkway. Keith drew up his ideas, which matched our vision perfectly. The work was done beautifully. We bought a few trees for the back yard, and they are still there today... Since moving into our new house 9 years ago, we've had 3 jobs done by Artistic including a large patio in the back yard and garden beds built and filled, smaller sitting area, steps and walkway in the back/side of the house tying into what was done previously and most recently an addition to our back yard around a pool installed last August. Every time, we had Keith come up and do the plan and he has nailed the designs. It's been different crews, and each one has been amazing. This summer's job has been a challenge because of extreme temperatures and rain, not to mention covid concerns. But the crew of Wayne and his wife have been amazing and I would HIGHLY recommend them for any job. When they were unable to work due to weather, they asked if they could come on the weekend when it was more suitable for work. I watch other landscaping companies do work in the area and they are in and out in no time - but are back every year to repair their work. Artistic takes the time to do the job right. They put a good solid pad under the patio stones and get the grade right the first time. We have never had to have them come back to fix anything. I am very impressed with the professionalism of the crews. The drivers who drop the bins off and pick them up, trade them, etc are amazing. Every day, the road is cleaned before they leave, and they put down boards to protect the grass so you'd hardly even notice that construction was going on. We are now all done all our planned landscaping in this house - so it's time to move so we can keep dealing with Artistic.

Really bad customer service experience. The lady was not very helpful and waa clearly not interested in helping us. When we asked how to know the prices of stones she said she has a catalogue with prices and if we told her which one we wanted, she would give us the price as the store is for contractors so she can't volunteer prices. Would recommend avoiding as a retail consumer

Bought six plants including a climbing hydrangea. Changed our minds about using the hydrangea and were told "no problem" to exchange it, Were then told the manager had to inspect the plant before an exchange could be authorized. Were kept waiting for more than half an hour by surprisingly rude staff. The manager did not show, so we left and gave the hydrangea to a surprised customer in the parking lot. What an amazingly bad and rude operation. Its a wonder they survive. There are so many far better garden centres and landscapers in the city.

Called them to ask about micro clover. Yes we have it. $6.99 for 2kg bag. Asked twice. Left work, came here - no micro clover at all. Sorry, too many students here. Well - train them!

This used to be the best place in Ottawa for perennials bar none, but it's gone down hill since the elder Mrs. Schmidt died; her daughter is expert in landscape design, not plants. If you're a dedicated gardener this is still the place to check first, but go to Peter Knippel for trees.

* MY COMMENT APPLIES ONLY TO THE NEW TRIM RD. LOCATION * Artistic on Bank was highly recommended by a professional gardener I know. However i went to their new location on Trim road (Orleans) and the experience was very unpleasant. The red-bearded man (riding the tractor) who attended us was inpatient, sarcastic, condescending and rude when asked questions, clearly not interested in helping. Hopefully they get a better person to attend customers to uphold the wonderful reputation of Artistic Landscape. Next time I am just going to the original location off Bank street.

No stars for this company. I paid $300 for a 2 hour home consultation, which I was told would result in a backyard living space design. There was no real design input. I was provided with a hand drawn sketch of my existing patio and deck with a few features added that I told the Consultant, Eva Schmitz, I didn't want. These unwanted features were included in the quote that I received 2 weeks after the visit. The quote itself, I can only assume, was based on refreshing my current patio and deck, even though I had been clear during our meeting that I wanted a better design for the space. Isn't this the purpose of meeting with a "designer"?? Clearly, I was not listened to. I also think it's inaccurate to quote a project based on already existing structure (patio, deck) to "establish a budget" when the actual cost of what could replace it could be much greater. I did not expect a full blown architectural plan, but based on their reputation, and having to pay $300, I did expect relevant design advice. No refund, either, for the non-design! Due to the poor quality of design (lack thereof) and attitude when I queried this, I will not be giving further business to this company.

I had to fight for the one-year guarantee on a $400 tree, to no avail. Despite my calls and visits, the manager never bothered getting back to me as he had promised. This is no longer the Artistic Landscape of previous years. I suspect they are planning to sell the land before long and therefore no longer working hard on customer retention.

Cost you a lot to just have them over for them to give you ideas and price. We told them that we we already had a design but they want you to be committed to them before meeting them. Comparing the prices is customers' basic right. So, we did not bother to have them over. They also never got back to our request for a visit by email or a phone call.

I do not recommend this company! I paid $300 for the home consultation and expected a decent preliminary design of my back and front yard. However, the consultant only spent 30 minutes and sent me a hand drafted paper design by email. Plus, the price quote is ridiculous high. Twice as much as the other company quoted. I have a single house with small back and front yard. I got the quote from other three companies about $30,000 +HST. However, I got the quote from Artistic is $60000+HST. It is almost doubled. In fact, I am willing to pay for the consulting service as long as I can get a fairly decent design and a fair quote. Clearly, Artistic does not deliver the service. I would not recommend to others!

I shopped around and got several quotes, Artistic was very reasonable and certainly not the most expensive. It was a couple of years ago that I had my front and backyards landscaped and driveway interlocked. Everything is holding up very well, I am very pleased.

The customer service here is aweful no one around to help out and emloyees are smoking in the nurserys. The managers are rude and not interested in anything you have to say. Just want to nickle and dime you. Since its a big place if your not a contractor bringing them money they dont care about your business.
