Simply, the best out there. I have been there 4 times and have never had anything less than impeccable service. They have plants there for much more reasonable prices than regular nurseries (Trust me, I've done the leg work) and in better shape. On one particular occasion they didn't have exactly what I was looking for, but the sales associate went above and beyond to recommend me another place that he was sure had what I was looking for, and for sale, since the season was dwindling. You know what I did? I waited for the Urban Gardner to get it back in stock. Full price, baby. You know why? Cause they are THAT good. Also I'm a stickler for pots. I've seen most every pot in the game, this place gets a 10/10 on my pot selection criteria. Variety of colours/textures? check! Wide range of sizes? check! Paterns? Hand made? Organized? Stands? Hangers? You bet. Need I say more?

The first time I visited Urban Gardener I had just popped in out of curiosity. I am so glad I did. I fell in love with their terrariums and air plants and took two home that first visit. I had even signed up for their terrarium workshop. It was a lot of fun. What stood out even more than the beautiful selection of plants and products (many of which are made locally) was the very friendly and very knowledgeable staff. I continue to go here with all my plant questions and needs.

I found this place as I am a newly obsessed plant mama and wanted to get some plants from local places that deliver. I found Urban Gardener on Instagram and absolutely loved their products! They deliver for just $10 anywhere 15km away from their shop. I was a bit confused at first as they don't have an organized online ordering and they just take orders through Instagram or Email now. I took screenshots via their Instagram stories of the plants I wanted and sent them a DM asking if they could deliver to me! I ordered 7 plants for around $190 total with delivery (sansevieria zeylanica, sansevieria laurentii, sansevieria superba, echeveria, monstera, hawothia and peperomia frost). They gave me an email to e-transfer the money to (which at first I thought was sketchy lol) and told me they would deliver it in two days! Before they delivered it, they sent me a text and were happy to accommodate and come a bit earlier than expected :) I am SO happy with my purchase, my plants are thriving and looking so good!! I was a bit concerned at first as my echeveria was missing from the order but I just sent them a DM on Instagram and they were happy to etransfer me the amount back. Would DEFINITELY order from them again!

I came from Ottawa to visit this plant store and I was extremely disappointed. I was ignored until I finally got the owner's attention to ask her a question. They did not make me feel very welcome. Prices are expensive and after following the care instructions (which I had to ask for) for the plant, it started to die on me a few days after getting it home. Would not recommend.

Beautiful pots and plants, however, terrible customer service. They are currently only selling through Instagram, and somehow they pick and choose who they are going to reply and sell. I tried to buy many times and never got a answer. Last time I sent a message a second after they made a post about a plant being available, never got a reply and next day they were re-posting all Instagram posts of people who had bought it. (PS: most of them were "famous garden Instagramers". So what the criteria? How do they choose who is going to buy? Is it more important to re-post Instagram stories of famous people than replay normal customers who wants to buy something? And this is without mentioning the salty price.

as an aspiring plant dad with kind of a black thumb, i love this place! every staff member i've interacted with so far has been very informative and helpful, and utterly patient when i have even the most basic of questions (ie "when you say 'water it'... how?") i was recommended urban gardener by my coworker and could not be more pleased with the outcome. and so far, two months in, not only have i not killed a single plant baby yet, but they are flourishing! the sansivieria i picked up here has grown nearly a foot taller in the past two months, which given my track record is unbelievable. thanks, guys!

Personally worked for the owners of this store doing landscaping a few years.. I was often involved in many aspects of the business besides the actual sales of plants. I can truly say that behind the scenes, there is so much dedication to the entire premise of the business. Ordering the right products for the demand in the neighborhood, trying to be as helpful as possible with any requirements or needs posed to them, providing plants that meet customer wants and needs....and now....with COVID....trying to stay afloat and pay the bills, meet consumer demands, maintain the customer service they strive for with typical and now possibly "classic" expectations...in such dynamic and trying times for businesses they have managed to stay true to themselves and the goal that began thier business. Customer services, dedication to the industry, and respect for the neighborhood in which they sit. From my glimpses behind the scenes there is exhausting dedication and effort from people who truly believe in the service they provide. Small businesses such as this define us as Canadians!

On the pricey side (but normal for the city) and most of the stuff is pretty local, which I love. Great staff, solid selection of plants but what really impressed me was the selection of pots! It's been tough finding ones I like, especially on a stand and they had lots to choose from. Definitely a repeat customer.

Just a caution when purchasing from here! I got a 6” scindapsus pictus Exotica a couple days ago and when repotting (as I typically do as I have a large collection and do not want to risk pests), I found that 5-6 of the “leaves” were just unrooted cuttings. When I pulled them out they also looked dead. A few weeks ago my partner helped me purchase 2 plants from them as well - an Alocasia Maharani and Alocasia Silver Dragon. They’re both very quickly declining (lost 2 leaves each so far) as it seems the roots were either rotten or they had a fungal infection. (I am currently keeping it under a plastic bag to keep the humidity up and try to save it lol) They do NOT offer refunds so buyers beware! After reaching out to the owners on Instagram (where they do most of their sales), they promptly BLOCKED me. Super disappointing customer service to say the least.

I’m never in this neighbourhood but happened to stumble upon UG after brunch one morning. I was greeted by a gentleman upon entering the store and he offered help and asked if I had any questions. Super friendly dude. I am a plant mom so I have a handful of plants at home but this store have some plants/succulents I’ve never ever seen before. I ended up buying two plants and was well instructed on how to take care of these babies. I highly recommend this store if you’re looking for some tropical, exotic plants!

I had the best experience here today. I went in with a million questions and every one of them was answered with patience, knowledge and guidance. Both people working today were so helpful and I left with 7 plants and pots. I can't wait to go back to buy pots for the outdoor flowers/plants I plan on bringing indoors. They were even helpful in letting me know which to bring in and which had had their season. I left on cloud 9. Edited to add: I never leave reviews even when I've had a good experience. This one stood out so much that I felt it necessary to take the time to give UG their due.

I've been looking for a certain size, shape & colour of flowerpot for quite a while. At my first visit to this store I found exactly what I wanted in a perfect size. Checked out the plants while there and found them to be in a very healthy condition. You can get fungus gnats from any plant store. They are very easy to get rid of. These little flies are attracted to the colour yellow. Buy a package of Sticky Stiks traps and use them until the flies no longer appear. Cost is around $10 and they really work. Available at most plant stores.

I LOVE SHOPPING HERE AND ALWAYS RECOMMEND IT TO OTHER PLANT LOVERS. The manager offers really helpful advice, she’s friendly and won’t try and sell you plants that aren’t going to thrive in the conditions of your home knowing it won’t work out - this is a hugely underrated and important thing and part of the reason going to a small shop like this is so much better than going to a big box store. The negative comments here are surprising because if I’ve ever had an issue with my plants at home (even ones I didn’t buy at this shop) they’ve been supportive in helping me to resolve it. The service is always awesome and I’ve been shopping here consistently for more than 2 years. It’s also worth noting that all of these shops get their plants from nurseries and regardless of where you go, if a plant has a pest that isn’t visibly present on the foliage yet there’s no way for the store employees to know about it before the plant is sold. It can take weeks after you’ve got your plant at home for a visible infestation to occur. If this happens... just go back or give them a call and in my experience they either replace it or treat the plant for you. There’s no way to avoid this stuff with plants and it doesn’t matter where you buy them lol ????????‍♀️

Absolutely love this local plant! I visited to pick up my Hoya that I ordered through IG They were very kind and explained well which is in stocks or sold out with some pictures when I DMed! I had to check this place out though it’s pretty far from my place and it was absolutely worth it. The plants are really in good condition and they gave me cute note as for the plants I purchased (how to treat them with water, light etc) I’ll definitely visit again :)

Had a great experience with urban gardener! On instagram I ordered this beautiful Pincusion Peperomia and the pot and for the quality it was well worth the price. I also ordered a set of four wallygro planters as well as some pothos and pink fittonias to plant in them (pictured is the pincusion peperomia and her pot, the pink fittonias in the left wall planter and some pothos in the right). Will definitely return when I want some more plants!

After following them on Instagram for a while, my partner and I were really excited to check this place out. They have quite a nice selection of plants and pots, and we did end up making a purchase, but weren't super happy with the customer service. Felt a bit ignored when trying to ask questions, and when we were finally able to ask about pet-safe plants, we were given a dismissive response. It just seemed like the opposite experience of how helpful they were on Instagram. Not sure if I'd go back.

I e-mailed Urban Gardener regarding repotting my Diffenbachia that had grown really big. The staff were really prompt in replying to my email and were super friendly. They offered pick up and delivery when I mentioned that I was too afraid to move my plant as it was really big. The delivery person was on time and very mindful as well. I got my diffenbachia back a couple of days ago after splitting it into 2 plants and she's happier than ever! The staff even offered more affordable options when I mentioned that I was a student and couldn't spend too much money at this time. Thank you Miah & Steph! You guys did a great job.

My friend recommended this local shop earlier this year! I've gotten most of my plants from them! Took some time before they replied to my message when I first ordered through instagram, but understandable since they are very busy with other orders and my message was in the junk mail. Once they saw my message, they saved my info. I ordered again 2 more times after that and got a quick reply both times! All the plants I recieved from them are beautiful and healthy! They are also doing well in my home! They have made me happy and I am so glad I was able to support a local business. I had a delivery for the first order and the last 2 orders were curbside pickups! I have not had any problems with the shop or plants and would definitely recommend them! Already have to all my friends ????

Staff initially are quite friendly and helpful but then completely disappear and do not follow up. I had been trying to order a pot from them online (quite expensive one) during covid - trying to help local small businesses during a time in need. I followed up multiple times with absolutely no response from the team after being told that they could fulfill my order. I am quite surprised by their lack of communication especially given how quick they were to respond initially. If you want to order something from them, good luck in having them follow through. You may want to consider other places in the area.

I dont get the hype with this one. It's out of the way from public transport and the plants are cheaper and healthier elsewhere. I've heard complaints of mealies and alphids. I saw quite a few yellowing leaves on tropicals and succulents that have been left to dry for too long
