I purchased my grading soil and rocks for my landscaping project. Everything turned out great. The delivery was fantastic to my home, and the loaders that work onsite work very hard.

I want to start by saying I will shop from here again, since there aren’t any decent suppliers in Milton, they have great prices , but I was applauded by the hypocrisy #vanbeeks portrayed today, I visited the Oakville location to learn about my deliveries in the morning, nothing conclusive , I waited on hold over an hour combined, to hear marketing voiceover lie to me over and over again, at least thanks to. Cliff I’m ready to roll when the stone get here after 5, I was hoping to finish this early, as this is my 8th day working , and I wanted to great my son with clean clothes, I can say more about your inconsiderate hypocrisy, but I shall be civil!

I purchased 2 cubic yards of premium soil last month thinking the quality of Van Beek is great. But sadly, the soil was not weed free.. after just a few days, there were a lot of seedlings coming up.. I wouldn't recommend the soil for vegetable garden.

It is my opinion that I never got what I ordered and then they denied my requests to fix the situation until I sent them a lawyer's demand letter. I don't know how a company with such abysmal service and poor quality products vs. the product representations stays in business. I question whether the positive reviews have been fabricated to drown out the real (significant number of negative) reviews. Avoid this company.

I was disappointed in the customer service and pricing. They have more inventory, but their pricing is significantly higher than smaller supply stores. I was quoted different prices from the Oakville and Mississauga location. I wasted a lot of time driving between each location because none of them had up to date inventory. Each location had 5-6 employees, none of them were able to answer basic questions about dimensions, inventory or stone colours. I ended up placing my order with Academy Stone in Oakville.

Someone is not doing their job!! Never in the 27 years that I been in business have I had a problem with a delivery service or product. I had ordered a yard of black lava rock on August 16/2020 to be delivered August 22/2020. I paid the whole amount on my card including $175.00 delivery charge. I requested delivery as early as possible so I would assume 8 am latest 830 as deliveries start at 7am ,I was told, seeing I had ordered 6 days in advance I was either first or second up, I would think. Anyways. I saw the charge was made to my card and on Thursday August 20th I made a phone call to see if my order would be early morning Saturday,the person on the phone said we can't guarentee early morning but said before noon I should have it, this is after I gave her my order number. Saturdsy morning arrived I had an employee show up at 830 to the site started doing some clean up while waiting for the rock. I decided to make a call to see if they can give me an idea when the delivery was going to be, the girl, said she can't specifically tell me, but after I gave her my order #, said around 1030 am ok. no problem I went to look at another job while my worker just killed time cleaning up , I told him once stone gets here start taking it to backyard. I got back to the site at 1130 am the lava rock was not their I said, what's going on ? Got on my phone called i asked where is my order she said I don't have an order for you i said what???? Gave my order number she said that they don't have that product in stock...now you can see how I was fuming actually I was very nice i did not drop any f bombs ... as i had called 3x before this call. i had put order in, WHY WAS I NOT TOLD that they never had any ? Had come here for a few years till today. I went to order sod and was told i could get a shipment the day of. I came in the day before to be a head of time to make sure i jad my order to be told it wouldnt come. They mentioned their supplier and that they wpuldnt be able to ship till 2 days. Funny that their supplier sells to the public too and gave me the exact same order 30% less. Thats a huge difference. Sad to find out i was getting screwed price wise here.

This Van Beek's location has a good supply of bulk landscape items and quite a large selection of rockery. I also frequent this location to get bagged firewood for my brick oven. However, they only have mixed hardwood and you cannot select woods such as hickory, cherry etc. Still it is convenient so it is a go-to destination.

Rented a bin. It was suppose to be a 14 yard bin. It filled quickly. When I did measure it, it was only a 12 yard bin. I spoke to one of the owners and he told some nonsense about brick yards. I teach math, a cubic yard is a cubic yard. His best defense was to yell and scream over the phone about sending another bin, and threatened me about putting anything more than 2 yards in the new bin which he never did send. He just hung up the phone on me. Great customer service buddy.

Van Beeks recommended a triple mix topsoil as a base for my residential project with a premium topsoil with seed after as a top spread for the seeding. Unfortunately the driver mixed up the piles when delivering which resulted in me putting down the premium topsoil as the base and the triple mix as the seeding layer. My lawn is ruined for the season as a result with a layer of pebble and sand on my lawn which has killed the original lawn almost entirely. Even with an additional delivery as a second layer (but actually 3 rd layer) of the premium topsoil and another 10 lbs bag of seed to try and tamper the triple mix has not helped. Grass seed that was sold has barely germinated. To add insult to injury the triple mix blew onto my vehicle and created a concrete like coating. Do not recommend any of these products or the advise of this landscaping company.

Absolutely horrible and a total nightmare! We purchased all the interlocking and natural stone products for our front and back yard from Van Beeks last year and had a great experience.... the complete opposite of what happened this year. Apparently management has gone from one brother to the other since last year. On Monday, we went to Van Beeks with pictures of our backyard steps and measurements as we wanted to replace the existing steps. The young gentleman that helped us at the counter told us we needed 12 step fillers. I’m not a landscaping expert but I knew for 3 Banas natural stone steps I didn’t need 12 step fillers. We walked out and decided to take a look at the yard to determine what colour we wanted. When we went back into the shop we were helped by Megan who was great and took a lot of time working through various different options. She was super patient and thorough. We came back home to make a final measurement before purchasing and told Megan we would call her to place our order. On Tuesday morning, I called first thing in the morning to place our order. The young gentleman who picked up advised that they didn’t have 3 of the 6 feet long, 6 inch rise Banas Steps in Dove Grey in stock. I was quite surprised when he told me they didn’t have them, as the day before they were in their yard. I kindly asked him to double check to which he said that they were probably sold and pending delivery for someone else. I asked him if they had the Banas Rust Remover as I needed that too and he said they don’t sell it which again surprised me as they sell Banas Product. After hanging up I called Banas to see where else they sell their products and called Peel Landscaping and Boulders, both of which had the product but I asked my husband to call Van Beeks once more to confirm as I’d rather support a local business. When my husband called, Suzanne told my husband they had the steps we wanted in stock, along with the step fillers, rust remover and a few other products. We then placed our order as we needed it for this Saturday when we had contractors coming to install. On Thursday, we received our delivery and noticed the step fillers were not the same colour as the Dove Grey steps - also, one had black lines all throughout and the other was majorly chipped. On Friday morning I called Van Beeks first thing in the morning and emailed them pictures. They agreed they sent us the wrong colour (they sent us slate grey) but advised they didn’t have any Dove Grey in stock. At this point we were quite frustrated and knowing that we had contractors coming in less than 24 hours to install was stressful. They told us they would go to Banas and pick them up and would deliver by the end of the day. At 2pm I called just to ensure they were on track which they said they were. At 5:30pm my husband receives a voicemail saying they are sorry and can’t get us the step fillers for today. Thankfully Suzanne picked up who checked the truck and confirmed they had them and we would get them delivered first thing in the AM. On Saturday, our contractors go to install and we notice that the step fillers they delivered this morning are 42 inches instead of 46 inches that we purchased which are too small and wouldn’t work. I called and tried to get through for 25 minutes and then decided to make my way to their shop. They agreed to give us another step filler that would allow us to make all the cuts we needed without being short. Once I came back home, the skid with the steps that were delivered on Thursday was emptied and once the skid was picked up we noticed the driveway is damaged from delivery. Considering I picked up the step fillers at 4:30pm I am now having to pay for the contractors to come back today (Sunday) to finish the steps. Given how much we’ve spent at Van Beeks or even if your a new customer , I feel like our experience with Van Beeks this time around has been a complete nightmare. I understand small businesses are having to make major adjustments during this pandemic but this was a new low and complete disappointment.

I ordered 2 yards of Black Loam earlier this week, was able to get a Saturday delivery. I didn’t ask for a time but assumed it would be in the morning, my fault for not asking. Got a call at 1pm saying my delivery was being prepared and should be there in a half hour. At 3pm I called, listening to a message for 2 minutes before I hung up. 3:05pm and no delivery or call, not impressed. UPDATE: Apparently the Oakville location ran out, got a call from Mississauga location that they were sending it right over, very apologetic. I had to go out, when I got back, dirt was there and they had even filled up my wheelbarrow. Good recovery!

The reply from Van Beeks is a crock. I am 8 minutes away and literally one left turn off of the road they are situated on, not the 2 hours they put in the original response. So their response makes no sense. They have terrible customer service and lying in the response to my original post just makes it that much more clear. We are all affected by COVID. But Instead of honouring the contractual obligations made by their mistakes they simply cancelled the order to make it go away. I do not accept the apology nor will I use or consider the use of this company again. I would give 0 stars if I could. Placed an order last weekend for soil, screening and loam. The price was great. Scheduled a Friday delivery. Did not hear anything from them. On Friday I called twice and received confirmation that my order was on the way and not to worry. Well it never showed up. Called today and spoke to a rude gentleman who told me I had not paid a delivery fee and that I was expected to pick up my products. I explained that my receipt had a delivery fee on it. The man laughed and asked why I would think that was the delivery fee, it clearly was a splitting fee. I apologized for my “ignorance” pointing out I didn’t know what a “splitting fee was” and stated that the website had called the fee a “delivery fee” and had asked me for delivery directions which I had provided. I asked if they would honour the contract/order as I did not feel that I should be punished for faulty advertising on their website. He told me they would happily send the product for and extra $400. He was argumentative and rude, hanging up on me when I asked for his name. I just received a cancellation email from the company as well. I guess this gentleman decided my money was not worth their time. I was extremely disappointed with my entire interaction with Van Beeks and would strongly recommend going with a company that honours THEIR mistakes without belittling their customers for the errors.

I have been a client for several years, I like their customer service, however this time I was disappointment with the quality of the soil that was dispatched and not receiving a response to and email send with this feedback. When placing the order over the phone I inquired about the colour of the soil because I want to ensure it was not brownish of grey and I was assured it was black. However as you can see on the picture the soil mix seems to contain a lot of material that is not soil, it dries out very fast and becomes airborne and the colour is light grey.

I had a really terrible experience starting with the delivery time. As a contractor that doesn't do well for us. Delivery time was very late and delivered in the pouring rain. Never seen such terrible quality products for sod and top soil. The top soil was full of rocks. There was chunks missing out of the sod all cut different sizes. They only have one delivery driver and he had problems with his truck all day. Apperently that was the delay. Then when he delivered the sod it took him nearly an hour to be able to drop the bin I had delivered with it. I wanted both of my bins delivered first thing in the morning. That was the deal. I didn't get my first bin til about 2. I had to stay in a hotel and lost several hundred dollars because of them.

When u sell soil just sell soil not stone you should tell customers about product accurately. I bough top soil 2.5 yard today and when I recieved delivery I checked soil its mix with stone I call them and complain and they handle the complain poorly Very disappointed with product and customer service Please next time tell customers clearly that your soil have stone too so at least customers should know what they are buying I osid for soil not for soil with stones mix

What a terrible place to shop at. I came in this morning (sept 21) to order some soil and as I`m standing there waiting the young pudjy blonde girl ignores me and starts to serve an other driver. This place has changed and now I hear that there are new owners . I guess they don't want my business so I took it down the street to Petrie`s top quality soil where they not only gave me great service they even gave me free pens and a calendar. I have been coming here for years but it seems like kids are now running this place and it`s going down hill fast. To bad as the owner of Special touch services I will no longer come here as it`s a waste of my time. One thing they will learn is that word travels fast among the contractor world and a word about bad service travels even faster. This young girl better work on improving her customer service skills real fast or she`s going to find her self with out work.

You may be surprised how much sponge wood is slipped into their loads. I measured 28 to 32 percent moisture content on the first 5 pieces I split and checked upon arriving home. (20 percent is the suggested maximum). if buying firewood from these folks, bring a moisture detector. Decent units available at Amazon starting far below the price of VBs "4 year seasoned firewood" face-cord stacks.

I filled out an online quote request for 1 - 2 bags of premium garden soil. I got this reply: "Thanks for your inquiry. For one yard bag delivered it will come to $151.46. Each additional yard bag is $75 + HST." When I called to order they told me that the price quoted for each additional bag does not include soil??? I find them very sly and deceitful. This is clearly misleading.

My first negative google review. Things are difficult right now and I have no problem with delays or low inventory. I must say though the service I received was beyond bad. I went last week to pick up 11 bags of various items. I was there over an hour and asked the young man just to double check that the order was correct before closing my trunk. He assured it me it was. Came home and I was missing 4 bags. No problem, went back a few days late and Zack told me to come on up to get the 4 bags. Eventually got to Zack and he pointed out to the yard and asked me to speak to anyone in orange. Eventually got to Evan who kept asking me what the order was, eventually asked me to move my car as I was in the way (been there an hour again) and I asked how long he thought I should be. He didn't know and informed I came at too busy a time. I asked if I should cancel the order and he thought that was a good idea (literally). Not the end of the world, won't go back and they are a very big company and probably won't care but this was my experience.
