We hired Sequoia for a large project this year (2021) - landscaping our entire front and backyard and building a 1000+ sq ft two level deck with sunken hot tub and pergola. From start to finish we had an outstanding experience with Tyler and his entire team. We interacted with Sequoia weekly and at points of the project daily. All communication whether by phone, email or in person were prompt, positive and addressed all our needs. We found Sequoia very professional, hard working, and extremely knowledgeable regarding their craft. We had a loose vision of what we wanted, and Tyler and his team were visionaries and experts on bringing our ideas to fruition. They completely transformed our backyard, and the end result exceeded our expectations. The work has significantly increased our love as well as the value of our home. We had some work done last summer - replacing some of the large trees in our cedar hedge which were dying. We were impressed with the level of service right from the beginning - they waited until the they could source the best sized trees for the project , and even came back to install a 4th one when we decided that 3 weren't enough. Unfortunately, the first 3 trees died, an issue at the grower level, not with Sequoia. Tyler immediately offered to replace the trees for us, and again, he waited until the right size trees were available instead of just putting something in to finish the job. He followed up regularly to let me know that he hadn't forgotten about us and that he was waiting for the right product. We were completely satisfied with how the situation was handled and appreciate the professionalism showed by Sequoia. I would absolutely use them again, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to a friend.

Tyler and his team were amazing to work with! Responsive, and easy to talk with. Our job involved new grass, new garden beds and patio stone work. He even helped us find a gas fitter to sort out a fire table install. We also got set up with a proper maintenance plan with his team (our request). We have a very challenging property with lots of rock face and extensive foliage. Sequoia has done great things to maintain the gardens and keep them healthy and looking their best. Sequoia has taken the pressures off my Wife and I having to spend many hours doing "the dirty work"! I have watched the Sequoia crews work their magic with our gardens. No matter what the weather or tasks that need addressing the crews are always pleasant, communicative and obviously very passionate about their work and as happy and pleased with the end results as my Wife and I are. We then get to savour the beauty of our gardens without all the sweat !! Oh yeah ..... The best part of our Sequoia experience .... The $$$$ value. I even thought there had been a misprint the invoice total was so low. Sequioia Lanscaping is Supernatural. !!!!!!

I do not know about their services but the drivers should be more careful on the road. I made an eye contact with the driver before I crossed the street but he did not stop nor reduced the speed. There were other people around me as well and we were all scared because of his driving.

We have been using Sequoia for a year and a half and have been very pleased to have found them. From the first meeting with Tyler to go over our long term plans for our property, to working with Matt and Hayley and their teams, each person from Sequoia has been great to work with and all take care and pride in their job which clearly shows in our landscaping. I have been particularly happy that they work with us in terms of our budget and our wish list and come up with solutions that keep us very happy on both accounts. Upon seeing their work at our home, neighbours on both sides of us have since used Sequoia for their landscape projects.

This review is about landscape maintenance services (not projects such as hardscaping or bigger jobs for which they seem to get rave reviews; I haven't used them for that). Very poor value. Friendly people and professional but I had to cancel their services because I was paying about 550/month for essentially lawn mowing and some other minor stuff around the garden. No/limited pruning/trimming and not very proactive. With you get a yearly estimate, it appears that some months are actually more than others but they will even out at 550/month for the period. The month I used their services was a "heavy" month that actually cost 770 dollars and, again, I didn't see many changes. I can't imagine what a "light" month is about. Overall, I calculated that they did 5 hours of work for 770 dollars, about 150 dollars/hour and in those, 3/5 hours, a single person came and in the other two, it was two of them. If you think that paying 150 dollars/hour is reasonable for landscaping work (most of the time it'll be a single associate), then it is probably good value and maybe that's the norm in the North shore/West Vancouver. For the time being, I'll do my own lawn-mowing and look for better value someplace else.

From our first conversation to our last Tyler and his crew were top shelf. Tyler was extremely thorough in his quoting and communication. His on site staff for labour were all professional, courteous, on time and always make sure that at the end of the work day the job site was tidy and ready for the next days work. We placed some lofty timelines on them and they were able to work with us to make things happen. They went above and beyond what was expected on several occasions just because it was the right thing to do for the project. No corners were cut at anytime. Would strongly recommend Sequoia Landscaping Services.

LOOK AT THE REVIEWS. RECENT WORK ALL POORLY DONE. THEIR REVIEWS FROM YEARS AGO ARE THE ONLY POSITIVE ONES. I had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with this company for approximately five months. His crew and main carpenter were excellent however the biggest issue with this company is unfortunately the owner himself. Interestingly the crew members were actually dedicated knowledgeable and hard-working. They have actually left the company because he is so impossible to work with. This company should be avoided without reservation. The owner is a short tempered very uneducated and clearly very inexperienced person. He on numerous occasions lied to me, yelled at me over the phone and would abruptly hang up. I don’t think I’ve dealt with anyone as short tempered as him in quite some time. He would message me on a massive increase in price on a Friday night for example and be unavailable for discussion or communication for several days afterwards. He only replies to phone calls and messages when convenient for him. He makes no effort to communicate appropriately or at reasonable times for the customer. His quote originally was reasonable however it quickly exploded to unreasonable amounts even with minor changes. I think this is his trap. His workers have no respect for him and would openly complain about how dishonest and unqualified he is. In fact his top carpenter has left his company because he is so rude and disrespectful. It became quite obvious to me that the owner, Tyler, does not understand construction or building. He would often try to explain something to me only, for me to have to require clarification and correction from his workers. He might know a few things about plants and trees but I think that’s the extent of his knowledge. His administrative worker is very disrespectful and I could tell she would upset the workers on the day of a important aspect of the project. This led to numerous errors and further delays and expenses.

Appreciate their recommendations but appreciate more that they do not dismiss your own ideas and what you yourself envision. Would highly recommend Sequoia. It's been a pleasure working with them.

Tyler and his Crew have been maintaining our garden all summer, and they are all a very cheerful and knowledgeable group, who are now in the process of completely renovating our difficult garden that is largely built on slopping rock !! Sequioa are also at present rebuilding our large raised Deck area, that is over 30 years old, and ensuring the sub structure is both safe and sound. They have demonstrated their professionalism with a very complex job that is raised high off the ground and will ensure the long term integrity of the structure with well qualified people, who not only know their job, but carry it out in a both a skilled and pleasant manner – they are very good, straight forward people to work with on such an important project.

We speak from a good deal of experience when we say; working with the team of Sequoia Landscape Services has been exceptional. Over the past few years, we have reached out and utilized the services of several very well known landscaping firms and have been underwhelmed by the services provided. Reluctantly, we thought we would try again this year; after seeing the Sequoia truck at a neighbour’s house we contacted Hayley. From the get go, we were impressed. Quotes were specific, and delivered on time. Suggestions that were made were thoughtful and showed their experience. There was follow up to make sure that any questions were answered. Start and end dates were always provided and kept. If there was a delay, we were promptly notified. At the end of each day, the site was cleaned up and readied for the next step in the project. As we progressed, we gained confidence and found other things that should be addressed and, not surprising; they had a team that could handle that as well. Garden (lawn restoration), bed clean-up and mulching, solving a drainage issue, and fence construction to name a few. The quotes, and pricing remained prompt and within budget. We even had one issue around a compromised sprinkler and they made sure that it was not only remedied but covered under the original budget. All in, we can’t say enough about Hayley, Matt and Tyler. All members of the team that we met were polite, experienced and motivated to get the job done. In two instances, that meant staying ‘til 8 but finishing the job as promised was clearly important to each member of the staff. We will definitely be using them again and as important, we have referred them to other friends as well. Our only fear is that they get too popular that they wont have time for us. We’re looking forward to enjoying our yard this year – it’s poised for greatness thanks to Sequoia! Russ and Cindi, North Vancouver

Tyler initially appeared polished and professional in his interaction and work. However, a portion of our project was not completed. I phoned to discuss - and received no response. I sent a detailed email with pictures - and received no response. Apparently ignoring my previous two communications, I received an email from the company asking what I thought of the service where again I explained the situation - and again received no response. This was not professional. I was not surprised to see the name of Grand Sequoia Services posted on the list in North Vancouver small claims court this week. ADDENDUM: It is unfortunate that it took this poor review to get your attention. You are clearly mistaken or have fabricated your claim that you responded to my emails - I have reviewed them again and as stated there is no reply. If we had had a conversation, I would demonstrate for you that the job that was not done was clearly within the estimated work.
