Providing us with photos of all the ‘underground’ drainage work for the project (should this be required for future reference) was a real surprise and demonstrates just how Ben goes above and beyond. Ben completed the project on time despite some frost and daily miserable weather for most of the project. Our family is pleased with the outcome of the 70’ (foot) retaining wall, which is absolutely phenomenal, and having 2 flat levels in the backyard is far more usable than 1 steep slope. Ben did a curved retaining wall and stairs for us near the end of July, 2019. One thing that really impressed me was how true to his word and timeline he was. He started when he said he would start, planned ahead, gave us notice when he was coming to drop off equipment or work, and consulted/worked with us on the process and plan as things progressed. He even went above and beyond by doing a couple extra things that we needed and was respectful of the neighbours. Ben worked consistently in the summer sun all day, hardly taking a break. The work is professional, technically sound and looks great. I will surely use him again. Much thanks and respect.

We have contracted Ben from Techniblock in May /2019 to renovate our sloping back yard with removal of old wooden walls and old Junipers .It was soon apparent that Ben is an expert when it comes to excavating and getting the base for the block walls done the correct way. All the measurements were done by laser and the base compacted by way of a Heavy Duty compact machine. All the correct materials were brought in . The block walls were laid with precision and the caps were glued on to perfection.The result of the project ended up spectacular. Ben is a very confident ,well spoken , lovely person and a pleasure to have him do the job. We would recommend Ben of Tecniblock Nanaimo very highly.

To new home owners dealing with flooding issues, trying to figure out hardscaping solutions can be stressful. It isn’t easy to get in touch with a company willing to work with you or provide options in a timely way in Nanaimo, in my experience. Finding Ben was like a God-send. He responded to us quickly, assessed the work that needed to be done quickly, and listened to our concerns and ideas. He also does things the right way. Our modulated retaining wall alongside the house had no drainage and the wood was rotting. Ben and Luke replaced it with allen blocks, put in drain pipe behind each wall, backfilled them with drain rock and reinforced them with geogrid. Then they put in a new staircase and graded the ground above it to drain away from the walls and the house. [Prior to contacting Ben, I had done quite a bit of research about building retaining walls.] I am confident this wall is going to last a long time and our house is safe from the kind of flooding we experienced previously. I would strongly recommend this company. It was easy to work with Ben. He explained things thoroughly, and he is a super nice guy. I am also grateful that he let my 2 year old son, who calls him “Ben the Builder,” sit in his digger. It was a blast! Thanks Ben and Luke!
