My so-so review is because they do not answer their phone as I see others have noted as well. Wasted a trip and gas driving to the opposite end of town to find out they didn't have the seeds I wanted. Could have avoided that if they just answered their phones. For this reason alone they will not be my first (or second or third) choice for my garden needs.

Good selection....however not knowing anything about house plants I wandered around for over 20min and no staff even asked if i needed a hand. I did need help but was a bit sheepish about bothering any of the staff as they seemed too busy merchandising etc. I would have spent probably near $1000 as I needed several plants and pots for my home...I just wanted some help picking the right plants and co ordination pot styles and sizes etc...I guess the covid mask hid my look of bewilderedness. I was so lost.... Oh well.

I have not gone to the shop so this is based soley on their inability to answer their phones. I phoned dozens of times for days with no answer or answering machine. It is very frustrating that I cannot ask my question without driving the 40 min to them.

Went to the store in nanaimo today I walked in to the store apparently through The door that was supposed to be exit. There were no signs and nobody at the door telling me to do otherwise. I got past the people in the lineup keeping a 6 foot distance and I heard a young girl at the till hollering at me to come back. I walked back to the till once again past the lineup. She informed me that this was the exit and I was not supposed to enter there. There were no signs up and she said we haven’t got our signs up yet. If that’s the case there should’ve been a person there telling me not to come in through that door. It was embarrassing and she made me go back out through the door after I was already well into the store before she called me back. I will definitely not be coming back to this store. I tried to phone the store and talk to a manager but of course they did not answer the phone.

One of the best places in nanaimo for selection on indoor tropical plants and accessories, great selection of plants, not so much during winter seasons but that is understandable. Those who complain about prices are often looking at hard to find or rare plants that carry a high price tag and i'm thankful they even bring those plants in to begin with, common houseplants are priced about the same anywhere in town including at gardenworks.

went today to choose plants for a landscaping project. Masks were required but I'm medically exempt. The man at the door said that was OK and I could say that if I was challenged inside. I was challenged and told if I wasn't wearing a mask they would do my shopping for me. How on earth could anyone do that when even I didn't know what exactly I wanted without looking at the plants?? How can any gardener ask a total stranger to pick out plants for a landscaping project they know nothing about??I Ridiculous. I left without buying a thing, but spent over $200 at another nursery who knows me. I won't be back to GardenWorks - Art Knapp would not have done that either!

Great to see gardenworks in Nanaimo. They ask for masks, but the sign is halfway into the store, maybe they need one out front too? Good solid selection, glad to see the junk that was there from Art Napps go and be replaced with house plants and garden focused items. Hopefully Gardenworks doesn't add to much of the non-garden related stuff.

I can't say enough about the excellent customer service at this garden center. Both people that we talked to (Alisha and Barbara) were incredibly helpful and accommodating. We are on the mainland and we just found out that our friend is in hospital in Nanaimo. I called Gardenworks to see if they have orchid plants in stock and if they deliver. They went out of their way to email us pictures of the various gorgeous options that they have, and they are going to deliver the plant we chose and a card to the hospital on our friend's birthday. I highly recommend this store.

I received a very nice Swiss Cheese plant as a gift. It started turning yellow right away and I thought it was over-watered since my husband said they watered it when he bought it. I did not water it, but it kept getting yellower and yellower. I took it down from it's spot on the bookcase and saw the worst potting job, with roots sticking 4" out of the soil, plus an infestation of spider mites that I cleaned off. It still kept getting yellow and had lost over half its leaves, so I persuaded my husband to return it. They said they guarantee their plants for life and ordered a new one for us. They apologized and said they had to pull all the Swiss cheese plants off the shelf because of a spider mite infestation. When I went back to pickup the replacement, it was less than half the size of the original AND they wanted $10 more. After talking to the manger they offered a 15% discount on the new plant, but they still wanted more money for a smaller plant.

My husband and I are very happy with our experience at GardenWorks. We were helped by Tori and Maddy. Tori is very knowledgeable and arranged our plants beautifully! We looked for easy to care plants and explained our situation. Tori took it from there and provided us with helpful tips and assistance. I was pleased to know Gardenworks provides the soil and decorative gravel when we purchased plants and pots. Maddy at the cashier area was very patient with us as we purchased and returned stuff. They also set us up for their rewards system right away. As we walked around we were greeted by every staff member and offered assistance. As we left with our newly planted plants a different staff member cautiously approached us because we were not going through the cashier are. Before we could explain why we were leaving without going through the cashier area, she realized who we were and thanked us for coming in. Complimented our new plant too. Every person there seemed to enjoy what they do. I hope they are well compensated. They are very happy and dedicated group of people.

went looking for plants today because we always went here when it was Art Knapp, found some great plants but the prices have gotten totally out of this world! I will check again but it looks like you are going to be losing us as clients. Maybe too many household decor that isn't selling so plant prices go up to cover? I go to the plant store for plants and pots, not kitchen stuff, clothes etc. Very sad that prices have gotten so ridiculous
