Huge park! So much to see, so much to do, the garden sections are amazing, both the plants and the thoughtful arrangement of them. I'd recommend going there for the whole day, with some lunch boxes and cool drinks.

Yue Zhu

Outside garden is free, inside greenhouse needs to buy tickets, around 16$. Both need to check vaccines passport. Really deserve to visit and can learn a lot from the greenhouse!

Ian Ruthven

Light show, though nice, was rushed and we definitely did not have sufficient time to walk through the entire exhibit in our timeslot, based on our booked time and time remaining until closing time. Security was trying to get everyone out well before closing time. Pretty disappointed overall.

Laura Verbich

A must visit in the city. Beautiful walk through the gardens, it is wonderful to see nature and plants and flowers in such a peaceful place. I also loved the cafe/bistro and ice cream place as you walk in (there’s vegan options!)

Karissa Garneau

You could spend an entire day here. The gardens are expansive and beautiful - with an entire arboretum behind them. The Chinese & Japanese gardens were artistically put together and the First Nations gardens felt like home ❤️

Enjoyed our time here. A very beautiful place, so take your time exploring. The weather was fantastic on our visit, so the walk was very nice. The facilities are closed, so keep that in mind (bring food and water). Overall I highly recommend visiting this place when in Montreal.

The botanical garden is just a beautiful sight to see, the flowers are all more impressive than the others and the colours are definitely mesmerizing. I recommend going there on a sunny day, so you can really capture the beauty of it. It takes about 1-3 hours to walk around and appreciate the different gardens but it’s definitely worth every penny!! Don’t forget to go inside as well, the plants are also impressive

The Montreal Botanical Garden is a large botanical garden in Montreal, Quebec, Canada comprising 75 hectares of thematic gardens and greenhouses. The Chinese garden and the light festival are the best... So, very lovely...

Jamie Carr

Beautiful gardens, especially the Chinese gardens and area around the lake - where the Autumnal tree reflections were stunning! Easily spent 2 hours here, could spend longer

This was one of the most surprising visits to me in Montreal. The botanical garden is of good size, excellently maintained, and well organized. Staff was always friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is nice and calm and the garden is separated into different areas and themes. The Chinese garden is fantastic. As a sign of friendship between Montreal and Shanghai, the garden was entirely designed and built in China before being disassembled and shipped to Montreal.

It was amazing, every year I go for different events and it always looks so different, this year I went for the Chinese Lantern festival and they used the most beautiful ambience sounds as well as the lights themselves. They had a tree that absolutely glowed and they had these tricks where they made it look like portals were floating in the sky. When we arrived at the Chinese culture part it was so beautiful. They went above and beyond. The food they sold was amazing, they had different flavours of popcorn and I decided to be creative and choose their steak spice flavoured popcorn, it was buttered with a bit of pepper, it was the best popcorn I had ever had.

Highly recommend ! With 181 acres (75 ha) of plantings in summer and 10 greenhouses open year round, the Montreal Botanical Garden is second only in size to England's Kew Gardens. It grows more than 26,000 species of plants, and among its 30 thematic gardens are a rose garden, an alpine garden, and - a favorite with the kids - a poisonous-plant garden. Visitors can attend traditional tea ceremonies in the Japanese Garden, which has one of the best bonsai collections in the West, wander among the native birches and maples of the First Nations Garden or explore the winding paths of the Chinese Garden. If visiting between February and April, don't miss the Butterflies Go Free exhibit. The botanical garden is of good size, excellently maintained, and well organized. The atmosphere is nice and calm and the garden is separated into different areas and themes. The Chinese garden is fantastic. Ambient music and sound effects accompany every part of your walk and themed accordingly. Japanese and First Nation themes are memorable. Truly outstanding in every way - the sights can't be beat! The walking paths were clearly outlined so you never felt like you were wandering off. Also, there were plenty of different species of plants that were very appropriate clustered and with esthetics to match it's origins. Visited during Gardens of Light event. Nice place for a safe evening stroll in Montreal. Takes about 2 hours to walk through at a leisurely pace.

A really beautiful place to visit! It is pretty expensive (a bit over $20 a person) but a lot of effort goes into the gardens. I really enjoyed the Japanese and Chinese gardens. I liked how there was information on how they were constructed, and that the Chinese buildings were actually built abroad and disassembled, then sent to Montreal and reconstructed! The Japanese garden reminded me of a garden I visited in Tokyo. I recommend this place to garden and flower lovers.

This is a great day, quiet and beautiful the green houses are amazing the outdoor gardens are wonderful. I can not impress upon you enough to block out 5 hours and just wander around and soak in the beauty. As for a walk and shoot for the camera bugs, you of course want to wrong.

I enjoyed being in this place immensely. The flowers are so beautiful. They are arranged in such a delightful manner that it makes you feel like you’re in paradise. I took so many pictures and walked long distances. The place is huge! We were not able to see everything. My feet were sore and my camera ran out of battery. Luckily there are benches amid beautiful garden. It is such a nice feeling to sit for awhile and admire it’s beauty. Unfortunately, restaurant inside was closed because of Covid. So bring water and a power-bank.

We went for the jardin de lumière. We walked for 40 mins for nothing as the entrance was closed at 6h pm. We had to walk back to the car and enter in the public parking that was not advertised anywhere. It was completely full, we had to turn back and park somewhere else and walk another 20 mins. Then, had to wait in a 30 mins line. Then the actual parkour was about an hour. It was ok. Nothing we haven't seen before with those other places like foresta lumina. There was nothing really standing out or not even a story behind the light show. Just some random sound and light show going around. I guess we were expecting more.

Marie-Sophie Dromer

Went for the lanterns recently but this place is so amazing and has so much to offer! Beautiful greenhouses and gardens with seasonal activities for everyone to enjoy. If you like nature and plants, you will love the botanical garden.

Soham Amin

Amazing amazing amazing place one should go. It’s like wallpapers you see in dekstops. What a beautiful place❤️

For any tropical plant enthusiasts out there (whether a casual hobbyist or it's your career) you HAVE to visit. The greenhouse stretches way further than you would assume. The proper labels for each plant leave no guessing as to what you are looking at. It was amazing to see plants that I grow myself in my home, but which are thriving here in perfect conditions.

BhaJnish Panesar

Love the park I been there last year in September 2020 during Covid. The park is well maintained and landscaped. It is divided in many different sub-parks. Like Japanese zen garden with a pond and various other types. It has a place where one sees several type of vegetation. The park is huge almost take you 5-6 hours if you want to explore everything. Parking has a big lot for which one have to pay and for park tickets one can buy with out of 3 choices which you want to select.

Silvia X

Went there in July. Beautiful gardens. My kids haven’t seen traditional Chinese gardens. This is a memorable experience. The trip was educational too. Also admire Koi in the pond for good luck!

It is beautiful little getaway in the middle of the city ???? If you’re a plant lover, need a new scenery, or your just looking for something new to see in the City, I highly recommend visiting this Beautiful gardens, it's so relaxing inside the greenhouse that you could spend and hour there every time, just smelling flowers, taking photos

Oktay

100%i recommend the place is fabulous wonderful with nice planets at least you need 4 hours to see all of them nice for taking the pictures also there is discount for students even in summer

Isabelle Chene

Such a beautiful garden. It took us about 2.5 hours to do and some were not even in bloom! Awesome variety.

Emily

Highly suggest you visit these botanical gardens. The butterfly observatory was incredible. Whether you’re visiting Montreal or a local; if you haven’t been, this is a stunning botanical garden.

Cryptide Beats

Awesome and relaxing environment. Great place to walk around and enjoy nature. 10/10 would definitely visit again. I loved the bonsai section in the Chinese Garden of the park. Better to arrive early in the morning because after noon it gets busy.

Jay Xie

Very big, practical layout, and many varieties of plants that will interest everyone. Admission fees are reasonable for a large scale garden like this one.

Sepideh S

This garden is really worth visiting. Chinese and Japanese gardens are the first ones you see and are very beautiful and picturesque. It was my first time seeing 90 year old Bonsai plants. The alpine and indoor tropical gardens are really unique in Canada. The restaurant next to garden also was really good to refresh and get some delicious pastry and coffee. Expect to walk for some hours.

Jack Saint-Fort

The Botanical Garden used to look healthier. I'm not sure if the impact of the pandemic caused that they don't care of it as they used to. Some of the paths are closed for renovations. Hopefully they will have this place back on track soon or at least for the next summer.

Victoria Weston

Honestly the most gorgeous place in Montreal. Flowers and flora overload! I could probably spend a week here! Will definitely be back!

sloane rosen

Had a great experience. You can spend a whole day there! There are so many beautiful flowers and plants and they are arranged into topic based areas. You could have a fun photoshoot or just sit and watch the ducks.

Elizabeth Hince

Amazing, the flowers and trees were beautiful, the park was well maintained and the areas were clean, there wasn't too much people they are doing a nice crowd control. Its nice that you don't have to wear a mask on the outside so you can smell all the flowers!

Mayssa's World

Very beautiful area with different kind of flowers and trees , i was really surprised by the big numbers of plants...the workers were working hard and keeping the place clean..the garden is so big and has many interests .

Ellie

It’s a very very pretty and clean place to go! It’s very easy to go to, you can get off at Pie-IX and just about 5 mins walking distance! Amazing design for the garden!

Alyssa Landry

always beautiful and calming. we go to the lantern festival nearly every year and it’s always gorgeous. we actually tried the food from the restaurant last time we went and everything was so yummy we ate pretty quick and didn’t take pics lol but it was pretty pricy…

Shabnam M

Beautiful place but a lot of the exhibits were under construction so they didn't look at nice as they usually do.

Shana Antoine

Beautiful place!! Went with my boyfriend and we really enjoyed it! Not a lot of people at this time of the year, it was quiet and we could take our time to take pictures and see everything. However I would definitely return in summer because there were no flowers yet outside.

Amit Mishra

Visited during Gardens of Light event. Nice place for a safe evening stroll in Montreal. Takes about 2 hours to walk through at a leisurely pace. 80% of the tour is just led lights on trees, and some modest light shows. Ambient music and sound effects accompany every part of your walk and themed accordingly. Japanese and First Nation themes are memorable. The Chinese garden is the highlight. Amazing presentation and beautiful lights. Lots of people but able to maintain good distancing in most parts of the tour. Some areas of the ground are muddy so watch your step.

Hashan Jayawardena

Love the gardens of lights. The walk is around 2km with many interesting and interactive exhibits. The Chinese garden was amazing. Thanks for that Green tea on a rainy evening. Rubber rain boots would be handy if it's raining, specially around trees and bushes. Lights and high quality sound effects are great and kids love it. Sometimes parking might be full. But there's more parking available around 100m from the entrance.

Riddhima Chandani

Botanical Garden was great as we got to walk around & experience a lot of different vegetation from different parts of the world. It was such a bliss to walk around nature in its element!

Philip Sherin Jose

The assortment of plants and trees are very good. It was good fun to roam around and look at the different plants from many different regions. My favourite was the Bonsai section. Can do the whole tour (indoor section - went during the winter months) in an hour and it is self paced. Wasn't too busy when we went. Paid parking on site - quite a lot of them.

gloria lai

It is very nice and peaceful here. It is big here. I didn't get to visit all the gardens due to limited time. I would highly recommend this garden.

Paolo Gottardo

We got there early in the morning so as to avoid the large crowds and it was worth it. At the time of typing this out most of the flowers have yet to bloom but we will go back in mid June for more. The Chinese garden is always a site to …

Natalie Irwin

One of the best botanical gardens that I’ve been too. So many beautiful bright flowers to enjoy while strolling around the garden for the day. Definitely worthy of an entire afternoon or morning vs some gardens that only take an hour to complete. There were different areas to explore and each one was filled with fantastic sights and delicious scent. I will be back.

Sunrose Heer

Its a must visit places if you are in montreal. Loved the indoor garden. Best spot was the chinese garden with spectacular view. Would try to go there in the night next time as I have seen photos and it looks amazing.

NGUYEN Thanh Van

It’s the biggest and most beautiful botanical garden I’ve ever visited. The are so much beautiful trees plants and flowers. I love its water lilies, lotus, giant hibiscus and … everything.

YRA StuDio

You will never regret a visit to this Botanical garden. It's full of varieties of plants, vegetables and flowers. It has spots to relax, the waterfall is my favorite place.

K “Kiki” S

It was our first time there. There are so many varieties of flower, plants and all kinds of different vegetables. Beautiful ponds filled with water lilies. There was a heron or crane in the Japanese garden. It was a really nice experience

ysabel sukic

Beautiful sunny morning spent at @espacepourlavie #botanicalgardens …so beautiful! But I was hoping to see more fall colours… just a few trees at this point-I can imagine how beautiful this place is further into autumn. Actually coming back after sundown for the light show! The light show was nice, but I don’t know if I would pay for it on it’s own… happy that our day ticket covered entrance to the light show the same evening.

Varsha

Truly outstanding in every way - the sights can't be beat! The walking paths were clearly outlined so you never felt like you were wandering off. Also, there were plenty of different species of plants that were very appropriate clustered and with esthetics to match it's origins. Highly recommend!

Alan Hernandez

PLEASE GO TO THE MONTREAL BOTANICAL GARDEN I can bet this is this the MOST peaceful place in Montreal. You can feel your lung being clean with so much vegetation! Go when you're stress and you'll get out way calm

Janic Vachon

Really oriented on flowers and trees. Not a lot of kids entertainment, but kids like to walk and run everywhere, look for ducks, fishs, etc. That was a great family day, including the lunch and ice cream!

Connor Wright

Had a great time visiting the botanical garden light show this year! Very beautiful and recommend going if you never have! Awesome place to visit with friends and enjoy a night evening, very packed so recommend going later it thins out a bit. Would’ve been a 5 star but it is a little bit on the shorter side.

Greg Tarr

The best botanic gardens I have seen. There are dedicated Japanese, Chinese, and First Nations gardens, as well as areas of rose garden and a large arboretum. The alpine garden was a highlight

Vlad Popa

Very expansive garden with a lot of different sections/themes. There's a rose garden, greenhouses for various climates in the world, shade garden, toxic plants garden, Japanese garden, Chinese garden, etc. You can easily spend several hours wandering around and it's only about $20 a person, less if you're a resident of Quebec. We attended the Gardens of Light event which was the same price as the regular Botanical Gardens ticket and also included access to the gardens during the day, so essentially you're getting a good portion of it for free. Gardens of Light was a very beautiful event. Highly recommend visiting the Botanical Gardens if you come to Montreal. 10/10 will come again on my next trip.

Nigel Peters

It's a big area with plenty of greens and flowers. Tickets for a family of four is 60 dollars roughly. They have free parking outside and it's enough. Inside its divided into different areas like Japanese, Chinese and Indian gardens. The Chinese by far is the most impressive and beautiful. Perfect spots to get those camera perfect pics. The shapes of animals from grass and leaves is not a permanent feature but I guess during expos and competitions. We thought we would get to see it and we're disappointed. It's well maintained though and the staff are friendly. Bathrooms are available and they are clean enough.

Anastacia Jiang

By far the coolest place in Montreal. The garden is huge and so beautiful. Each garden had such an amazing layout. Could spend hours here! A must see place.

Lucia Taddeo

The Garden of Lights festival is on till October 31st. Totally worth seeing! A very nice family outing. There also us a Halloween section. However, the back end of the path is not well lit.

Zee Man

First visit tickets are 21 for non Quebec resident and 16 for Quebec residents. Students 15 and 12 for Quebec residents. The garden is too big could have more things and could be more interesting. It is huge so have enough time to walk thru. If it is too hot bring things for the sun. There is a caffe if you need to eat. They give you a map make sure to read it.
