Nice new store. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My beef is that it seems that as soon as they moved to the new location that prices went up, especially in the paint dept. Maybe they have no control over this but before the move we were paying approx $35 a gallon ($28 if it were on sale) and now they are $48 a gallon. When you're doing a large project, that works out to a lot of extra money. And to Darren Tidd... Reviewer.... They do just fine with the mask mandate. Not everyone can wear a mask and there are people who are exempt from wearing a mask due to health issues. You need to stop jumping to conclusions and mind your own business.

Dealing with the staff at Gow's is absolutely the best you will ever experience as far as I am concerned. The staff are there to help you find what you are looking for and know what they are selling. Each department has their experts and what they don't know they will find out. I might add that even the cashiers have you smiling as you complete your sale. I have been shopping at Gow's for years now and have never been disappointed. I would also have to say that my shopping experiences at all Home Hardware locations has been very positive, I simply know this location best. They've got the competition beat and I would like management to know their excellent service 'does' make a difference and keeps me coming back. I can even go as far to say, they know me, my wife and my dog by name. Now where can you find that these days!

When I found that I could order from Gow's on line and simply pick up the item at my choice of store, I thought it sounded too good to be true. I was right. "Simply pick up in store" is right up there with "the check is in the mail" and "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you". The truth was more like check in with customer service, send someone to find the item and then line up behind 30 others to get to the checkout. When I asked an employee why I had to line up to pay for something I'd already paid for he said it was to ensure that I'd paid. ????? When I showed him my iPad receipt -- paid by PayPal with original order -- he shrugged. When I asked to speak with the Manager I found that was not possible. There were two cashiers for the 30 or so customers ahead of us. After what seemed like an hour, but was probably a bit less, I caught up with my purchase at the checkout and had to sign some forms. "How did you pay for this?" I was asked again. Once more I fired up my iPad which she studied carefully. Finally after signing more paper I was allowed to get hold of my humidifier and leave the store. If I'd come in off the street and picked up one in the store I would have been long gone by that point. Home Hardware's advertising is BS. Buying on line makes the purchase complicated to the point of absurdity. Twenty five years a customer and I was treated as though I was trying to steal from them. I rate this store as one star because I can't give them zero.

One difference is the professional staff with expertise in their areas. The guy in plumbing saved us $ by explaining what tool and material to buy to fix a bathtub drain (leaking when the plug was in) and how to use them. It worked! The paint staff has equal expertise. This is a really big deal.

Today I was in home hardware to buy plumbing supplies .1:45 or so The clerk was helpful but they were out of stock. No problem. At the cash as the cashier was starting to give me my change I said " please don't do that" " what " she replied . I said put the change on top of the bills . She said " okay " and dumped almost $4 worth of change all over the counter . Now it's not just me . Look it up . Pet peave number 11. Change on top of bills . There are good short articles explaining why this is frustrating . It also explains the proper way to give change back . Hand the person the change .hand them the bills . It doesn't mention what to do when you ask someone politely not to do it and they do something very rude. What's happening to home hardware ? They used to be so good at customer service .

Made my first visit to the new store. Sorry to see Wal-Mart has a second store in town Gone is the friendly atmosphere a trend I found started a couple of years ago. The staff is no longer helpfull, with a couple of exceptions, and the new hires don't know how to be of any help in the department's they are in. Don't like the new store or the new staff. This was my go to store but I find myself searching for another.

Gow's Home Hardware tried to order items from us recently and when they didn't get the price they were looking for... their employee Bryce Hart threatened one of our elderly lady staff members. We are very concerned about the level of professionalism from Bryce Hart and the lack of Respect he has for women. I can only hope that this is not how other women are treated at Gow's Home Hardware. Our staff member had to take the day off and we are now filing a police report over these threats.

Since moving to the South Shore in 1985 I have shopped at Gows, The quality of the products they sell are good you do have a selection of quality tools and handyman economical tools which one has to have.The thing that really has always impressed me is the friendly and most of all knowledgeable staff and if they dont have an answer they will get one they dont fake it or mislead you they find the answer.the store is clean as well and well organized.The prices are higher but thats just buying power problem, when you buy smaller quantity's you have to pay more and that does get passed on to the customer but it is what it is.all and all it's a very pleasant place to shop and thats worth a ton.
