Great place to ski but be prepared to stop a lot for photo ops - its a beautiful place to spend a day. The mountains, and the lake/chateau in the distance below, make for a lot of reaching for your phone to take pics. Beyond the long runs, back bowl gullies & views, there are a lot of great food choices in the main lodge and on the hill. Only gripe was the gift shop's lack of Lake Louise apparel : a couple Tshirts and 2 sweatshirts makes for a surprisingly tiny selection of clothes to show some LL love.
I loved the open gondola ride. It was oddly relaxing gliding above alpine trees, considering I always thought I was afraid of heights. Perhaps it was the amazing views , the cool, motionless air and the anticipation of a great photo opportunity once we reach the top that offset my fear.
Take a ride on the Lake Louise Gondola and see some of the most spectacular mountain scenery and wildlife in the Canadian Rockies. Best place to see black and grizzly bears in the wild. Stunning views and breathtaking nature. Gondola runs from 8 am to 5 pm and the ride takes 15 mins.
Great hill and Amazing staff......We have 3 Kids that are all beginners ( ski and Snowboard) and the Instructors where amazing!! Kids had a blast, learned a ton and can't wait to go Back !! 10/10
Our family took the Grizzly gondola up to the top. It was a beautiful ride to the top. The kids had a lot of fun playing in the deep snow at the top.
Nice ski resort in the Canadian Rockies Part of the Big3 (Sunshine Village, Lake Louise and Mt Norguay), Lake Louise ski resort is perhaps the best known for hosting the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. Nestled in the glorious Canadian Rockies, this resort offers 10 lifts, over 130 runs, suitable for all skill levels. The ski chalet offers free boot/bag storage racks as well as lockers for a fee. I was very impressed with the resort’s effort to remain environmentally friendly: all packaging and utensils used in their restaurants were either re-usable or recyclable, even one time forks and knives were made of wood! Facilities started to show signs of wear and tear, the gondola is rather dated compared with some other resorts in the region. The only way to get to the summit was via a t-bar rope tow, although my kids loved the rope tow I struggled so hard with it! A new chair lift would have been much better. [Update 2020-12-30] New Summit chair lift WAS installed to replace the t-bar, yay! West bowl is beautiful, and less icy. It was quite windy and icy on the day we visited, but the view at summit was incredible, worth every penny!
Went there on March 6th, 2021 (saturday). The organisation gives you the false impression that you must register online prior to your visit in order to minimize the amount of people heading to the mountain due to COVID. That is bu***hit, they allow everybody to show up, buy tickets on site, and don't enforce any of their own rules. As a result, since chairlifts are loaded at 25% capacity (covid), waiting time at the chairlifts is between 45min-1h all day long. Stayed the entire day on the slopes, could only get 7 rides done. Could not be more disapointed than this.
Great skiing here! Well worth the drive from calgary. One of my favourite mountains for sure! Friendly staff, nice variety of runs and good snow for much of the season!
Great ski resort! Perfect for all skill levels. Fabulous restaurant at the top of the gondola!
Great, well planned runs with unbelievable views! Staff at rentals and guest services were very friendly and helpful. The whole day was super smooth - from parking to rentals and even the runs. Save the Back Bowls for a day with good visibility!
Hill fun, pretty fast today not many people..Disappointing that they close the food / coffee after lunch...we eat a bit later and they had close-by 2...Sunshine you can grab a coffee at end of day...staff are already getting grumpy and season only halfway through...kinda sours day. The price we pay to enjoy a day out is not necessarily what you get.
Very Beautiful place!!! I love to visit again ???? I enjoyed the gondola ride very much!! Beautiful sightseeing!!
This place is EPIC!!! This resort is HUGE and offers something for everyone and has snow making abilities I have never seen before. The lodge was great, the store was supplied with a little of everything, and the facilities were clean and maintained. Excellent time here and our favorite resort of the Big3!!
Great place to enjoy nature and also a chance to see some wild life in action! We got to see a mama bear and her cub! The open gondola ride is so much fun and the views are amazing, especially on your way down as you get to see lake Louise!! The wildlife museum at the top is so informative and interesting,, you get to learn so many facts about different animals, birds and fish that live in the Rockies. Not to forget the restaurant “Whitehorn Bistro”,, has a variety of reasonably priced meals and the patio is amazing! You get to enjoy your meal or simply a cup of tea or coffee while enjoying the beautiful scenery around you. The staff all over the resort are friendly and they’ll be happy to assist you in any way! Try to get the coupons that give u 5$ off each ticket (max of 4 people per coupon) we got ours from the hotel which we stayed at. They have a big parking lot so you won’t have to worry about parking your car (free of charge).
Ultimate ski resort in the heart of the Rockies. Worth the bucks. I was surprised by the number of mountains and runs they have: front side, back bowls and larch! Also, the gondola ride is an amazing addition to the lift chairs (stay warm on your ride up) Staff are super friendly and facility is clean too.
One of the best ski resorts where there are multiple lifts and runs that are longer than 15mins. The views are absolutely stunning. You can save some money by buying passes at costco beforehand. There are some lockers and storage spots but it gets packed early in the day. There are good food options here as well or bring your own food. Lots of seating available.
Never again. Even with a half price mountain collective pass I've never felt so ripped off before. The lineups were the worst I've ever seen in 25+ years at any resort, and the so-called "reservation system" is a farce because it's clearly a way to gather contact information versus limit the amount of people on the mountain. The lineup to get on the gondola was about an hour long and each of the lifts were in the neighborhood of 30+ minutes. If I wanted to be overcharged to spend my day standing in lines, I'd go to Disneyland...and I don't want to go to Disneyland. Absolutely brutal.
Rated one of the top ski resorts in Canada for a reason (MANY reasons) The views are beyond stunning. The food and drink options plentiful. The skiing is amazing. There are runs for everyone. I have never had a bad ski day at Lake Louise. You can take anyone there for a great day out and they will love it. Love the gondola and all the lifts are nice and obviously well maintained. It's truly a paradise of great views and great skiing
We stopped at Lake Louise gondola on the way back to Alberta from Vancouver to end our vacation. The view was beautiful both going up and going down and we even seen a grizzly bear. The reason for not giving a full 5 star rating is because there is not much information about it online and I’m pretty sure you needed a parks pass in order to be in the area we were ( we didn’t have one ) but we still parked and didn’t have any issues.. the second reasoning to a not full 5 star rating is because it’s quite expensive for what you get. Beautiful otherwise.
Busy place. 3 faces to ski or board. Lots of different levels to challenge all skills. Gondola and chair lifts all over to get you were you need to go. Love it here. Come back often
absolutely beautiful ski area, with runs ranging from extremely difficult, to beginner, this is an amazing place to ski, and will probably have everything youre looking for. with multiple jump and trick parks, hundreds of runs, and a great lodge with restaurants to dine at, this is a 10/10 ski resort.
One of my favourite ski hills in the world. I learned how to ski here and have never stopped loving it, it is definitely the best hill in the Rockies.
I love to snowboard at Lake Louise. There is so many great runs and areas on the mountain. It is a more superior mountain than Sunshine and worth the drive. The view is fantastic on a clear day and you can always find powder stashes even if it hasn't snowed in a few days. Can't wait to go back again this weekend.
My second favourite resort in all of Canada! Great terrain and many options to choose from. I was lucky to be there for an 80cm snowfall!
One of Canada's best! Beautiful views, great runs. Happy, friendly staff! My favorite playground. There is a massive parking lot. As with any resort of its type, the prepared food in the cafeterias is overpriced and not what I bring from home! They have microwave ovens.
A fantastic ski area within a national park. Lots of fast lifts take you all over the mountains and give you access to great terrain. Not much new snow leading up to my trip so it was really tracked out, but the groomers were great. All the staff I met were friendly and helpful.
Gorgeous views and awesome runs. I did a full day lesson and found all of the instructors to be impressively helpful, encouraging, and patient. Watching the instructors teach the little kids was the best part—they actually exhibited some teaching methods that reminded me to be more patient with my students. Everyone was extremely kind, from the staff who helped me find the right rental boots to whoever of the instructors was closest to someone who fell, quick to help them back up.
The best place I've ever been for skiing. If you love skiing and snowboarding, but haven't had the chance to do it on a real mountain, it's very different than the 'hills' I had to deal with in Ontario. It's beautiful, and everything is so scenic. The runs can be pretty long which is cool when you just want to chill, and the resort is nice.
World class ski resort with high calibre skiers, competitions, loads of runs and a large Lodge area. Clever parking arrangements keep all spots within a 5 minute walk from the lodge
Definitely get the breakfast buffet + gondola ride package! Highly recommended!
This lake is a beauty????????. Fresh blue water from glacier. The scene is awesome and the resort is perfect for outing
Best mountain in the Rockies for me, would recommend be there early, it fills up and very busy on weekends. I would ski weekdays, visit and hike the weekend if I were to go again. Don't forget to validate your National park pass, even if you stay within the park, you need to renew everyday. I suggest a yearly pass if you're stay is over 5 days. Park Rangers hang around parkings fire fines so... Ski is already$$$ enough.????
Customer service, why don't you answer your emails? Can ArriveCAN application, issued by Canadian government, be used to show proof of vaccination for Tourists? Other resorts like Sunshine accepts it.
Only a short drive from Calgary and we were able to enjoy this resort and area for a day of exploring the mountains. Alberta has so much to offer us and happy to have spend the day here. Everyone is friendly and accommodates us very well, thanks
Phenomenal resort. I’m a medium-skilled snowboarder, and this is my favourite resort in Alberta. Variety of runs, lots of trees, and the staff are good about slowing the chairlifts down when I fall getting off (hasn’t happened in awhile, I swear!) There are also multiple dining options, both at the base and mid-mountain. Honestly, it’s enough to visit just for the stunning mountain views. The nachos don’t hurt, either.
Went here in June so no skiing but it’s quite a great place to take in the surrounding mountains any time of year. They often see grizzlies from the gondola but we did not. The Whitehorn bistro at the top is superb tho!!
Well layed out and incredible views. Minimal apres but the beer is cold!
Phenomenal staff from rentals to lift . Great lodges . Beautiful view and not so crazy line up.
We’ve been coming to Lake Louise Ski Resort for years but this past winter so far we’ve come more than ever! Since discovering the Plus Card and all the cool deals that Lake Louise has we’ve really enjoyed our trips that much more! Not to mention Lake Louise is one of the nicest resorts with some of the most fun runs we have ever been on! ????
Beautiful resort, tons of skiiable terrain. Lots of choices for any skill level. Back side tends to be more advanced, especially if there's no new snow. Definitely recommend arriving early for best parking choices. Only knock is that food/drink is on the expensive side - but that's just ski resorts for you.
This place is pretty awesome. Great mountain. Lots of glades and lots of powder! It could use some more large cabins on the mountain.
They need to have more parking spaces.
Visited over Christmas break. Spent two days riding the mountain -- loved it, however snow conditions were not that great. Can't beat the scenery tho' and being outdoors. Breathtaking !!!
Great slopes, but resort facility is lacking when compared to Whistler
Couldn't recommend a better ski hill: great and diverse terrains, beautiful mountain, nice staffs, and good and affordable food options (for a ski hill). Wouldn't recommend this hill for a beginner though... Intermediate and advanced skiers would def have more fun here
It was great, lot more than I expected, also ate at The Whitehorn, service was great
One of my favourite resorts, tons of terrain ranging from beginner to expert, both on and off piste. Wide range of options for lunch, some cool on mountain restaurants. Although, it is quite expensive. Friendly staff, and excellent ski patrol.
Great morning for skiing, didn't hit positives till 2pm. Late in the season some runs were icy, but not surprised. Just praying for a foot of snow overnight for an amazing day two.
Nice lake but too much people
First time here and it was great. Good place for blues and above
This was probably the better ons of the Big3 Ski mountains. What an awesome experience hitting fresh powder. It was cold the week we were in Banff so layer up lots and get those hand and foot warmers. The hot chocolate at all the restaurants are awesome and helped. Really some of the best skiing ever.
Fantastic skiing. Really great conditions. I highly recommend this resort. I have been come here 4 years straight. Love this resort.
Still the top pick for Rockies skiing. It offers the best scenic view from many trails. Easily accessible, fast gondola and lifts. Amenities are quite new. Go there early on a nice Sunny day .Can use more parking spaces and should follow Sunshine's idea using a pick up lorry or a bus from distant parking lots. Very helpful ground staff
Best hill for a ski/snowboard day trip from Calgary with amazing views all around.
If you’re looking for a true alpine skiing experience then this is the place for you. I visited here recently while on a work ski trip. Had the best experience since it’s my first alpine skiing. On a side note this place is best for more experienced skiers than for beginners as terrains here are definitely more challenging. Would be happy to ski here again in the future.
Love the runs on this mountain. It's has everything from beginner to expert, wide open to tree cover. Family friendly resort. Definitely looking forward to returning to this resort for another day of amazing skiing. I would suggest going on a week day, the lifts were almost empty
A great ski resort with plenty of terrain. We ate at two different place and both were excellent. Prices were good!
Beautiful chairlift ride up. 2nd Chair lift was not running while h was unfortunate but the view was amazing.
Crazy good runs, well groomed, beautiful views. Also has a burger for $8.50 in the main lodge, can’t complain. Plus card is $99 and you get your 1st, 4th and 7th time lift ticket for free.
Been experiencing Lake Louise for 16 seasons now. There are many reasons it's voted one of the best ski resorts in North America! Fantastic views, long runs, steep bowls, uncrowded sections, massive terrain, (one could ride here for weeks and not explore it all) good food options and helpful staff! Really enjoying the brand new Summit lift and the addition of the West Bowl terrain is incredible!! Now, if only Louise could replace the Paradise chair, with a faster quad lift system. Hopefully one day...
Great place to ski alone or with friends and family. Tons of different runs to ski on and multiple levels of lifts.
Sarah govaert is absolutely amazing, we had some issues with a lift pass and she was so helpful. We will make this our new favorite spot !!!!! A+
Have been coming to Louise my whole life and I love the hill. Minimal flat spots to get stuck on, great green/blue runs for just having a good time, challenging black diamond bowls, and fast chairlifts. Ticket prices can be a little high but if you're going more than once recommend the ski Louise plus card which pays for itself after the first use ($114). Can buy these cards usually before Christmas and they give 1st, 4th, & 7th visit free and $20 off the other visits. Food on the hill is great if a bit pricey. Recommend the back side cabin for lunch as it's usually a little quieter/smaller than the front. For the hill itself, I recommend starting the day off moving to the backside as ski school groups don't often get back there/start right away. Can either go up the gondola to the top or take the two chairs (grizzly/top of the world). As the day goes on the front side will have warned up and although crowded, might have some softer snow that hasn't been scraped off. It's tempting to drive to the door but the parking will cost you $20. Free parking in lot 3 is just a little down the road and actually comes back to the entrance putting you only a few further steps away. Save the money on parking and save it for lunch!
I really don’t understand why there is so much love for this resort. The lineups are absolutely insane when the snow isn’t even that good. Gondola lineup was 45minutes and all of the lift lines were at least 30 minutes as well. Unacceptable really
Good fun runs for all levels + spectacular views.
Amazing place to visit.. specially in winter you can go top of the mountain
Wake, bake, go to the lake... I LOVE THIS MOUNTAIN. Best resort with the best terrain in BNP. Always something fun to ride no matter the conditions. Pub serves beer. Multiple lodges all equipped with beer. Many awesome places to blast a j and rip the GNAR! Very scenic, with plenty of pretty mountain tops to gaze upon while shredding. Trees and glades, powder bowls, terrain park and wildlife.
Had a great time visiting the mountains! Banff offers plenty of fun opportunities to take part in
I like snowboarding at Lake Louise ski resort more than sunshine because there are less flat areas and more moderate slopes that non experts can practise on. Also the view is great! It is a little pricey at $124.00 per lift ticket but I got the plus card so it ended up being $100.00.
Great mountain! Snow making on lower portions for early and late season riding. Lodge is nice and offers a great view of the slopes. Views from the top of the slopes of the Canadian Rockies are amazing.
Lake Louise is beautiful. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. I have not ridden all the Banff area hills but it just felt a cut above the rest. Even the riding just had more to offer as far as terrain went. The staff was friendly and very helpful to new arrivals to the hill. They even had self serve ticket sales which sped up that process tremendously! I'd go back in a heart beat. If I could give an extra star I would ????
I went there during summer, and I bought gondula ride + breakfast ticket. It is a nice ride but don't expect to see animals, it is rare to see. The breakfast is really good.
Great resort. Big mix of terrain, you can always find something to ski, poor vis/ good vis, new snow / no snow. Back side bowls with powder are awesome... Front side tends to gets icy... Always beautiful
It offers many amazing slopes and the view from above is just gorgeous.
Pretty magical! I have a new, added appreciation for this resort after having ACL surgery. I used to enjoy the more challenging runs and bowls at Louise, but now I’m so impressed by how awesome a day of blues and greens can be! Louise really has something for every level in nearly every part of the mountain ????. Can’t wait to ski ⛷ here again!
We visited the resort a couple of weeks ago in July and had a fantastic exprience. We bought the ride and dine combo for a gondola ride and lunch. Price was reasonable. Food was top-notch. Staff at the gondola, on the trail, in the cafeteria and at the customer service is all courteous and professional. We saw a grizzly bear eating berries for lunch. What a surprise. I had a few suggestions for improvement and the lady at the ticket window listened carefully and wrote everything down to pass to management. That's the attitude every business needs to adopt. We will be back skiiing in the winter based on our summer experience here.
Good resort, friendly staff. Great views all around. Went to the power keg for lunch and had great service! Good day at the hill! Good selection of runs here. From beginner to expert everyone can find something they like
Amazing mountain, many high speed qauds/6 person chairlifts, lines move fast and staff are super friendly! Ps thanks for including everyone the best you can this season!
[Attention Lake Louis, this is a complaint letter to you.] We were lining up at the Grizzy Express gondola earlier today. There was no sign indicated if anyone does not want to share the gondola with other groups that group needs to go lining up again at the other lift chair across from this Gondola. (This is the background) So when it was our turn to hop on the gondola the gentleman named “Dave Shebek” asked us if we were ok sharing the Gondola with others. I declined the offer. He then told us we need to wait aside. After awhile he told us “Alberta government approved us to run the gondola with full capacity, if you refused to share with others then you need to wait till the line clears up more, everyone has two doses of vaccines” then he made us wait aside, with the attitude. I explained the reason for not sharing the gondola this time was because I need to take off my mask. (I need to adjust it while riding to the top of the mountain). And I don’t want others to feel uncomfortable. I also expressed that I’m not happy with what he treated us. He said “Well That’s your problem.” “…….?!” I told him this was my right to ask for what I need. He told us if that’s the case, we want to consider lining up at the lift chair this time and moving forward. “…….?!” After some back and forth conversation, he finally let us go. I thanked him. However I am writing this review here because I believe the kind of help/service/guidance we have received from him was not right. Dear Lake Louis, please kindly let me know if this was the way you run the business. Do you support your Staff/Member give attitude to random riders when they have some “special requests” (and is this special?) I consider myself as an easy going person, which I don’t mind to share most of the time. However, with the current condition of pandemic, can a staff/member force the riders or give attitude like this? What we have revived today only worth 1 star rating. I gave 3 stars for the others hard work. Thank you.
Really enjoyed my day out on the hills of Lake Louise. Facility itself was well maintained and full of amenities. The staff was readily available for any questions or issues that may have come up. Plenty of room to sit and relax with options for dining and shopping. Overall highly recommend the hills, fresh pow and scenery.
Great variety of terrain and all of the staff i spoke with were very friendly and helpful. The bowls on the backside had lots of snow which was great. Getting to the top can be difficult as it's unfortunately a very long tbar, but it's worth it especially if you are looking for powder bowls. Lodge amenities seemed decent, but no obvious water fountains for skiers and snowboarders though, so I was forced to buy water.
A hikers paradise! Do the teahouse hike! You won't regret it! What an awesome day, and such a beautiful place! You could easily spend 3-4 days hiking different trails! We didn't stay at the hotel but came back and hiked 3 different trails. Absolutely amazing trip!
Lake Louise has been my go-to ski resort for over 10 years now. Good variable terrain. Have had some of the best days with friends here. I normally come snowboarding here around half a dozen times per season. But due to the pandemic I haven't really gone out too much during this 2020-2021 season because I've seen how busy it gets with long line ups especially on weekends. I've decided not to go mostly because of this which is fine. Eventually things will be back to normal and I'll be back again more frequently. To all those complaining and giving bad reviews because of the wait times, honestly what do you expect?! They need to follow the health guidelines set out by our government just to remain open. It is beyond their control. They're trying their best to stay open and to continue to run a business during these times. Some people expect lift ticket prices should be dropped due to wait times. Would you also expect a restaurant to lower their prices when there is a long wait time for a table? This is especially hard if a business is expecting less profits due to the circumstances. Simply put, if you don't like it then don't show up and go elsewhere.
This is one of the best skiing resorts I have ever visited. Very near to Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise which gives complimentary shuttle, the rental stores have the BEST GEAR with all friendly Aussies to help. And the Japanese restaurant has super delicious ramens.
Really rude staff, steadily dealing with them power tripping about whatever they can and wasting your time. And they also lie about snow reports and which runs and lifts are open they claimed great snow conditions and all runs were open, numerous runs were closed and the hill was extremely icy. I won't be going back there anymore. Waste of a day when you could go anywhere else and get more skiing in and not be on pure ice all day.
Unbeatable! Soooo worth the time to come here every chance I get! Hands down the best ski resort I’ve been too!
My wife and I skied Lake Louise on Saturday, March 20th. We were skiing our first run early in the morning and my wife took an awkward fall and badly twisted her knee. She could not get up and therefore we called the Lake Louise Ski Patrol. We did not have to wait long and Eleanor came to help us out. She was fantastic; compassionate and very patient with us. Eleanor also knew how to lighten the mood and put a smile on our face considering our concern. Once Eleanor brought my wife to the Medical Tent, the rest of the staff were great and treated her very well. I would also like to put out a special mention to Lucas. His customer service was fantastic! As a bonus, my wife, our friend, and I received a rain check to come back and ski another day the following season. Lake Louise did not have to do that. Very classy move on their part. It's been 9 weeks and my wife is still rehabilitating her knee. It will be a slow and steady process to recovery.
Very nice place. Like in a fairy tale. Nice skiing, love the wood signs for ski slopes name and color.
Love!
We visited on a late afternoon in July for the gondola ride and to our surprise they had discounted price for all rides from 4.30pm, so, that's a great start. After the visit I would say that Lake Louise Gondola is a little better experience than the Banff Gondola, and keep in mind, they are both amazing and worth your time & money. My wife loved the chair lift while I enjoyed the closed gondola with our little one, can't describe how beautiful the view is - you see the lake and great Canadian Rockies from 6850 feet (wiki reference). Take the 5-10 mins walk down from the viewpoint to the wildlife museum (forgot the actual name) and restaurant - you will be presented with some good entertainment. Great wildlife museum and a rich source of knowledge. We were brought down all the way to the parking lot via shuttle as they had to close the gondola rides due to thunderstorm - their crew did a great job given how unexpected and quick the sunshine was replaced with the scary storm! 5 stars for that but overall review is missing a star as I hoped they would have more accessibility features. Would definitely recommend to f&f
Only a few runs open November 11.'Great start to the 2018/2019 ski season
GREAT FOR THE HOLIDAYS! My friends and I decided to take a trip out on Boxing Day. It was fantastic the hill was quiet and was able to get on the chairlifts with ease. My favourite part of the day was going into the main lodge for some food and beers. Great atmosphere and excellent service
Came for a visit in September.. very nice ride up the gondola.. the walk back to the gondola after the restraunt was all uphill and needed many rest stops on the benches on the trail. The menu was small but the food was GREAT!! The seafood chowder was to die for!!
Did a nighttime guided snow shoe tour with Daniel (Madrid, Spain) and he was awesome. It was pretty chilly that night and no complaints. He was entertaining, the snow was powder fresh and knee deep. Will definitely be doing more snow shoeing out there this year. Thanks Daniel for a memorable experience. -Scott-
Beautiful ski resort. Great runs and multiple areas of 360 views of the mountain ranges. One of my favorite resorts by far. A lot of steep runs. Enjoyed how steep some were even when they were groomers. Here’s a photo of the nachos we got upstairs in the lodge. Highly recommend.
Love this amazing resort. Not very crowded.
Love Lake Louise! The runs are long and there is a ton of terrain to check out if one area of the mountain is busy. Definitely a must if you're in the Calgary area.
We visited during the summer and took the gondola up the mountain, walked the Kicking Horse trail, visited the exhibit, and marveled at Lake Louise. The Kicking Horse trail was a fairly steep 0.5 mile walk uphill within the bear area. The kids weren't too happy about the hike until we got to the lookout area. The view over the Rocky mountains from the top of the trail was absolutely magnificent. You can see the glacier covered Rockies, Lake Louise, the forest, it was definitely worth the hike! The lodge was quiet. Not many people during one of the busiest summer tourist days of the year. We ate at the sushi restaurant. Good was excellent, reasonably priced, friendly waitress.
We went there during the summer and I kind of wondered whether the $40 lift ticket to the top would be worth it without any snow. Was I ever wrong. The views from the top were/are indescribably beautiful. We took the “Trail of the Bear” hike which was worthwhile and informative. All told the summer gondola here is time and money well spent.
Skied the heck out of LL in mid April. Awesome snow (which was great after dodging rocks in CO this season). Black runs are true blacks, which was a surprise after Sunshine where it seems like they just slap a black marker on anything steeper than a bunny hill. Spent a morning and afternoon with the Ski Friends, who were amazing and indispensable for getting a quick idea of all the fun runs. My wife, a blue skier, loved it and had plenty of wide groomers to enjoy. We could easily ride a lift, split up onto blacks and blues, and meet up at one of the lifts for more. Cool place.
Went during the summer season so it was only the ski lift and gondola. The ski resort isn't that impressive during the summer as we were hoping there would be a bit more for the price of the tickets we paid ($38CAD) there isn't much of an opportunity to walk around. The lift is okay but nothing amazing . But there is a really good restaurant up there if you want to go for a meal with a view which was about $22-28 for a meal (the balcony looks over lake louise). They have an option for you to pay an extra $20 on top of your ticket ticket for a ride and dine experience where you get a $25 food voucher which I guess is good
My family really loved this mountain. We came after the holiday period and it was perfect crowd wise. My son was enrolled in ski school and he didn't want to leave. They have a good learning area and the staff were really friendly. The food was better than expected, even the hot dog tasted good. Food/drinks were on the pricier side but that's to be expected. The rental equipment is in very good condition so you don't feel like it's cheap or over used. I did the 2hr sightseeing snowshoe tour with Maggie and thoroughly enjoyed it. She was knowledgeable and really liked educating people about the mountain and terrain. Lots of powder on the mountain which made it surreal. Unbelievable views for those like me who weren't skiing but wanted to do something active. We can't wait to go back.
Such a great ski hill... love the backside of the mountain, especially the Paradise Bowl. Which there was more option for lunch but we do understand that is harder with the Covid19 restrictions.
Outstanding experience from the complimentary shuttle from Banff to the huge ski domain loaded with fresh snow, the nice lodges for lunch, and virtually no wait in lines for the lifts. 5*
I just LOVE Lake Louise. The scenery is certainly incredible however, the traffic was insane getting into town so we turned our attention to the legendary ski resort. Chairlift rides up the mountain are available to really get a great alpine view, bike ride or hike. Nice coffee and pastries and sit down menus available. So very beautiful.
The Lake Louise Ski Resort is the first stop on the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup circuit, and the only place in Canada where this event is held. The event, also known as the Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup, is described by Alpine Canada as "Canada's highest-profile alpine ski race", and attracts high-profile downhill skiers from around the globe - such as four-time World Cup champion, Lindsey Vonn. The races began at the resort in 1980 and have run consecutively since 1993, and is one of the select few that hold both the men’s and ladies speed events on the World Cup circuit and plays host to the first World Cup downhill and super-G races of the season. The Lake Louise Ski Resort hosted its first FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup in December 2013. The resort also hosts Shake The Lake: a freestyle and live music event held at the end of the snow season.
Well-organized hill, friendly staff, beautiful mountains. Parking is easy. Do not speed up the road to the parking lot for obvious reasons plus there is high police presence on the road. If looking for complex terrain head up the Summit Platter, or once exiting the Gondola, hang skiers right down the backside for some shoots. It’s a little bit harder to find at lake louise because the hill is rather moderate. Great place for the whole family. A very moderate hill. The front side of the mountain closer to the bottom gets pretty slick! Stick to the top or backside even if you are a beginner.
4* resort. One of the best runs in Rockies. Foot rest bars on most lifts, but no wind guards. Some renovation would be nice. Quite expensive. Bad COVID policy. -2* for the 2021/22 season ! Most resorts require vaccination or negative test and no face masks on chairlifts. Lake Louise requires masks instead. It makes me crazy because of glasses. Many people do not respect this rule. It is hazard for other guests - possible COVID positive people without masks.
Awesome place to go boarding would highly recommend doing some backcountry if your an advanced snowboard/skier and willing to hike a bit
extremely cold, love the tours, gorgeous view
Absolutely iconic area and a fantastic ski hill. It's a little bit warmer than sunshine is typically so on hotter days the snow conditions aren't quite as good. However the runs at Lake Louise are better imo compared to many of the other ski hills in the area
This is the second time visiting lake Louise ski resort. We love this mountain. Both times we had great skiing conditions. The dry snow is beautiful to go skiing and look at. The mountain ranges around is amazing. There’s a lot of different difficulty skiing slopes. I especially love the Sawyer nook restaurant on the mountain. The food was amazing. Recommend getting the Lake Louise card for discounts.
My favourite resort but not for the season 2021-2022. No vaccination verification or negative test is required for chairlifts ! ! ! Why no tests? They care about money but not about safety.
Had a good time. The restaurant menu at the top was a bit disappointing for trying to feed kids so we didn’t eat as we had planned, but did bring a picnic so all was not lost. Had a nice hike, very friendly staff. The lifty Michael was extremely friendly, my husband and I really appreciated his conversation.
U must try this!!! So Much fun.
I had an awkward fall at the top of Ptarmigan chute and pulled a calf muscle so couldn’t ski. Called the Ski Patrol and Amy showed up 10 min later. She called for a toboggan and James arrived within a few minutes. Given that we were at the top of a double black, Tom arrived as well. Somehow they got me down a double black on a toboggan. James was exhausted and was amazing. Hats off to the entire team. Very professional and super nice throughout. Thanks for the snowmobile ride Monique. Hope to see you all in about a month or so. Also thanks to Larry and Colleen for their help. Curtis Lester.
Easily one of the most underrated places to visit. We happened to learn about this through the Lake Louise information center located at the Lake Louise Village. The girl behind the counter was very helpful and also gave us $10 x 4 discount coupons for the Gondola. We headed to the Gondola and the views atop are stunning. You can view lake louise from a far distance along with all nountain peaks. The open chair lift was our favorite. The guide on top is very engaging and so is the staff at the animal information center. The restaurant at the base camp is very good.
If you know how to make the best of it, you will find the tickets worth it. I didn't do much as I reached there late (without proper gear). The peak, where the cable car takes you is super-high. A lot of routes to ski down or snowboard down!! Safety is taken care of. They put soft spongy thing in front of pillars/trees where there is a chance for people to crash!! Food and other services are good too!!
Views for days! Ski here on a bluebird day if you can. Also plenty of great terrain for every ability and 360 degrees of exposure ensure quality snow conditions.
Best ski hill in alberta !!!!!make sure you go up the poma lift rite to the top and over the back side its AWESOME!!
My favourite hill in Alberta. I've been coming to this hill since 2013, this season (18/19) I could finally afford to buy myself a seasons pass here. And I've already gone 12 times to Lake Louise, it's expensive but definitely worth it. Chute's to the right between Paradise and Top of the World are steep, technical and super fun to ride. All of the runs off the Summit Platter, like Whitehorn, are amazing for steep off-piste skiing. Backside gets quite a bit of flat light, but it's manageable.
Absolutely breath taking views. The food is pricey but nothing out of the ordinary for a tourist spot. You can bring your own food and eat there. VERY! Busy and loud but enjoyable.
First experience skiing west, and i chose a classic: Lake Louise. Just wow! No big touristic village here, just a lodge with what you need, and pure fun on the slopes. That's what i came for. A place for real ski and snowboard lovers. I was lucky enough to get 1 foot of fresh pow, so i guess i experienced the bowls and stuff like Rock Garden in their best shape. 5 stars for me, would recommend to any one.
With 12 inches of fresh powder overnight Lake Louise did not disappoint. Plenty of runs for every level and plenty of ski lifts to get you where you need to go. Runs are well kept with plenty of spots to dip off for a ride through the tree. Some of the easier runs get fairly crowded but if you can get off the back or to a more difficult run you have no problem carving down the mountain. Great food options for everyone’s taste buds and a great alcohol selection for those who desire it. Great resort for everyone’s needs.
Always has and always will be my favourite ski resort in Alberta. So much variety of terrain that there are not just runs for ever level of skier but a lot of runs for every level of skier. The on hill food is also great and their lifts keep everyone moving perfectly.
Absolutely stunning! Come here every year.
Awesome ski resort. Heaps of runs, some decent parks, and an affordable price compared to some of the bigger resorts. Only word of warning is the LL village is a little sparse so perhaps plan to either stay in Banff and transit every day, or just make do with what you can at the LL village!
The most stunning scenery combined with world class skiing and outstanding customer service. Not to be missed.
Lake Louise is ok. A lot of inexperienced skiers and boarders makes it tricky to get safely down the hill on certain runs. I find it icy here as the snow gets scraped down quickly due to the high volume. However, Lake Louise has a variety of terrain and of course beautiful views, which makes it a must-try ski resort. The log cabin style lodge is also beautiful, but bring your own lunch ($$$) !
Always a great time going to the mountains to ski. We went boxing day and never had to wait in line once to get on any lifts. Might be the best day to go along with new years day. Only reason I gave this review 4 star is because the food was not only expensive, but my burger I ordered was almost raw in the middle. Since I bought the Louise ski pass, I will be going to ski again, but next time I will be bringing my own lunch.
Absolutely wonderful ski resort. Went snow shoeing with my ten year old and had an amazing time. The gondola ride up is worth it in itself. Stunning views, fresh snow and an amazing guide. Am not a skier, but the ski runs looked incredible. Would definitely recommend it.
Had our wedding here recently. Absolutely wonderful. We had a couple hiccups on our side of planning and they were so helpful and accommodating! Beautiful venue. Delicious food. Attached just married sign to our chair lift on the way down. Very cute. Would definitely recommend for a mountain wedding.
With the recent guidelines I'd highly recommend not to shovel out 134$. They say the place is at half capacity when it's not. I've skied many many years and that is a full capacity. The parking spaces everything. The lines up are about 1.5 -2 hours just to get up on the Gondola. After lunch same thing. Mind you this was all on a NON-powder day. I just don't think 134$ for 4 runs is acceptable. Save your money and go to sunshine. Better snow and better lineups and they don't lie.to you.
We skied here for two days. We took an advanced lesson with an instructor named Jenny. She equipped us with knowledge and technique. Beautiful magnificent views from virtually everywhere on the mountain.
Don’t even think twice! Just go if you ever have the opportunity ! And if you don’t have an opportunity to go there; we’ll create one and go! I Honestly didn’t want to leave.
Took private lessons with my brother and we got paired up with Roland who made our experience incredible! He was constantly supportive of teaching us how to improve our skiing and was super patient with us as beginners. His feedback greatly improved our abilities and within the full day we were more confidently finishing the green runs (which have some sections that are more like blue runs). Definitely made our day on the slopes much better!
Where do I start? Absolutely unbelievable! Lake Louise is STUNNING and the ski resort is top class - I'm not a great skier but I gave it my all and had a great time - highly recommended !
Beautiful day out on the slopes! Worth the drive because when you arrive you can go right up the lifts! A lot steeper than sunshine so a tough day for a skier if you were out yesterday for the first time. But heaps of runs you can switch between. Good food and atmosphere in the lodge for food or drinks after you’re done for the day too :) One day buddy pass was $93
