This Gardener corresponds to the category of Tea house.
A beautiful tea house and a great experience. The food is descent. Their tea is wonderful! They prefer cash but offer other digital payment as well. It's a great way to take a break before hiking back down.
Oh man, a big salute to the people who run this. I was told that they hike 2-3 times a week to bring up all the necessary items for running this place. Yet they don't charge you super premium rates for the tea!
They are really nice and hard working it’s worth it
Food is amazing and great customer service, dont forget to bring cash, they dont received credit cards
This is very cute spot. Large tea menu and decent treats
super busy place on a Friday, pricey but good snack after an easy short hike ☺️
A good place to check out. Home made bread and treats good selection of teas I would recommend it. It's about an hour hike from the Fairmont lake Louise hotel but worth it :D
Way too long of lines to actually get tea, but the hike to there and back to lake Louise is very enjoyable with well maintained paths (minus the horse poop) and clearly marked directions.
Quite a hike, takes awhile, remember to dress warm because it can get cold up there! View from the tea house itself is really beautiful. We didn't taste the tea, because we decided to get the hot chocolate instead which tasted pretty watery for the price. Waitress was nice. Scenery and destination are beautiful but it's one of those places you'd probably visit only once...
They have a nice tea selection! After 1hr hiking, there are amazing view and nice tea!
We visited in October and there was a lot of ice on the trail which can be steep. Come prepared with boots or walking sticks to help navigate the way down. The tea house closes at 5 and if you are up there at closing, remember to bring a flashlight as in the winter the sun sets by 7 and the trail is very dark. The trail itself is gorgeous with a lot of incredible views :) we got to the tea house too late so did not get to go inside
They mostly offer tea and hot chocolate The inside of the tea house is neat and unique Just heads up that for the hike and elevation gain We were not expecting and just thought it is 3.7 km far from the lake Louise so it turn to a good hike for a rainy day Also you can rent horses to climb or back
Was looking forward to going in. Don't mind queuing. But there is no social distancing happening. This is the case all around Lake Louise.
Will be doing the fall hike in September… we hiked this trail when there was a lot snow on trail Sep 5 2021 we went back again, it was beautiful but very busy …
Great hike to a stunning location and the tea house is such a bonus.
Paid 16$ for a super delicious soup and sandwich and would do it all over again. Best highlight of the hike! Cute little critters hanging out, super cozy feeling, hard working staff. 10/10 would recommend.
Its around 3.6 km hike from Fairmont hotel. Hike can take around an Hour to one and a half hour but its worth it. Tea house looks so beautiful especially with Lake Anges in front of it. Just watch an eye on weather when you are going up as it can get difficult to hike if it rains or snow.
A classic Rocky Mountain tea house that is not too hard to get too!
Make the climb and have a meal here. One of the top memories of our trip.
Nice cozy tea house, lots of different teas to choose from, nice warm soup and friendly staff. Expect delay in service due to number of visitors though.
What a beautiful view. The hike was good, you can take breaks on your way up or challenge your self. The Tea House and area was worth the hike and time it took to get to the top. The food and drinks were amazing, friendly staff and quick service.
Wonderful hike, good food, amazing views.
Such a beautiful hike & the tea at tea house was so so good & the biscuits were very yummy!
Nice place and full of charm and character. A LOT of people hike and like us with no idea of the climb. Take an empty ruck sack to put all your layers/clothes into as it's a work out for an older fella ???? Also helps the morale to follow the trail on Google maps for the inevitable 'are we there yet' ????
The atmosphere is great and the food hits the spot if you have hiked 20 km before eating it. Not haute cuisine but what can you expect when all needs to be carried in. Work up an appetite before you arrive.
Great hike & well worth the tea & scones at the end ????
High tea at high altitude. Nothing like doing a nice hike with an incline and having a lovely place to break and enjoy a meal. Service was great, atmosphere is lovely and food is tasty. The only downside is obtaining a table. No reservations and first come first serve. Good luck in snagging one. Otherwise, once you do, sit back and enjoy the view and food.
As beginner level hikers, we completed this trek to Agnes tea house. If you are going for the tea, you may be disappointed as there is nothing special about anything on the menu as they have no power and everything must be carried to the top by staff everyday. They also extremely appreciate if you carry your own garbage back down. It's not really about the tea house, as Miley Cyrus would say...it's the climb! I would recommend bringing a water bottle and a bag for your garbage. Gorgeous views totally worth it!
Beautiful hike up! There were a lot more people than I expected to see up there. Its worth it tho!
Kinda overcrowded when I visited in Aug 2019
Loves the hike, lovely view. Hike was harder than the other tea house.
Cool teahouse.. this one is closer and definitely worth the visit. If you have more time also check out the plain of Six glaciers teahouse as well!
great hike
Perfect ????
After a moderate hike from Lake Louise, a cozy place welcomes you. They serve delicious soup of the day and teas. Though it gets crowded and you might have to wait around for a spot to sit. It's beside Lake Agnes that adds to the pretty site. The server we had was friendly. They only take cash, but they ALLOWED us to eat our cheese and meat spread with sparkling wine that WE BROUGHT - we thought that was nice.
Great great service and delicious tea, we had breakfast and blueberry one. You can have either to go or a table. Please be careful to not feed the squirrels, as there are so many around.
Beautiful hike! Amazing views. Yes the tea house itself is closed but the trail is still open and it’s worth it for the winter views. You may want to rent or bring cleats along.
What a magical place to end up. After an exhausting hike, this reward is priceless. Everyone is so happy to be up there and the staff is accommodating to needs. Highlight of our trip.
(CASH ONLY PLACE) We did not get a chance to taste their tea, the wait was too long even for take out and it was a little cold up there... However, just a few notes... The hike is a decent 2 hours, relatively tiring... But the breathtaking views this place has (and along the way) make it totally worth it! Very picturesque, very romantic and very tiring ;-).. I wish the tea house served some beer too!
I walked the trail from lake Louis to the tea house, first of all it's a very long trail, from start to end with sitting in the tea house, it took us something like 7 hours and it was 14 kilometers. But, the hike was beautiful for the whole way, and the tea house was great. The told us the story of the tea house and answered all the wired questions my dad had to ask about the place and how the workers get there with the food. It was totally a great experience! Especially when you hike for 4 hours and then get to this beautiful place! If you want a long hike, start at lake Louis and go to the tea house for a stop. I don't have pictures from there because we were too tired to take pictures of the place..but it was worth it.
Trail walk up was do-able as an inexperienced hiker, we had to stop periodically on the way up but it was definitely worth it. The tea house is not over priced and the tea and treats were great!
Great lentil soup, mountain bars and tea. Good service and awesome view after the hike up
Beautiful scenery. You will be amaze how beautiful this place is.
We tried their Lemongrass Peppermint Tea and Fresh Lemonade made with fresh water from Agnes Lake. Both were great and refreshing after the hike up there. Their Mountaineer Bar was a great treat too. We then headed up the the Little Beehive Lookout which was about another 30minute hike from the teahouse. The view was incredible and totally worth it! Don’t give up after you reach the teahouse!!!
the hike up is steep and definitely a workout, but the tea and biscuits at the end make it much better
For tea lovers who enjoy hiking, Lake Agnes Tea House provides a genuinely Canadian tea drinking experience. Because the Lake Agnes Tea House offers a wide selection of premium loose leaf teas prepared using glacier-fed water, you're in for a treat. As a tea sommelier, I consider the range of tea offered at the Lake Agnes Tea House excellent. I highly recommend you hike up to the teahouse.
Staff have to hike all food and equipment up which makes the prices a bit much! We had the soup which was very tasty but cost 7$ for a tiny cup. I would recommend maybe bring your own food and just buying tea (they have a big selection)
Scenery and food were excellent.
To begin, the view and ambience is stunning here. A rustic tea house amidst the beautiful Rockie geography of Lake Louise and its surrounding mountain range. The staff at the tea house were extremely friendly and even let us get take-out even though they were closing up. Tea flavour choices are out of the world. I had the Canadian Maple black tea and was not disappointed. They have other snacks such as the peanut butter bar and sandwiches for pick-me-ups after a nice hike up the mountain. Be warned it is a 3.4km uphill hike so be prepared to trek for this gem. I can guarantee you it’ll be well worth it.
Really, really cool but sooooo many folks around. It is pretty amazing how long it has been there and the history behind it.
Pros: This tea house is ideally located by a viewpoint and there are bathrooms just up the stairs. They have the menu posted outside and seem to have quite a diverse selection of teas, with information describing the different flavour profiles of their teas. As a checkpoint it is naturally busy but the staff were very friendly. Cons: I ordered a masala chai and received a teabag in some water with a few drops of milk added. I spent $5 for disappointment when I can usually get that for free.
As part of my hike at Lake Louise this weekend, I made a stop at the Lake Agnes Tea House. Another beautiful lake and relaxing place to take a snack break!
Cute little restaurant at the top of a beautiful hike. I had the tomato soup, delicious. Worth the hike!
A must have experience! The staff were lovely and food was amazing. The vegetable soup is a must have. The hike is totally worth it!
Great destination hike in the Canadian Rockies!
Must experience at least once, it's at least an hour of constant up hill hiking, so prepare yourself for that, but it's incredible when you get there, it's recommended to leave early
Such a beautiful hike to this adorable & quaint tea house! We visited second week of October 2020. Will definitely do it again! The vegetable soup was delicious!
Such a great spot for this adorable Tea House! It was rewarding to have this breaking spot. The Lake may not be as green and vibrant as Louise but the waterfall and the surroundings are perfect with a great view of the valley! All of the staff were very welcoming and extremely friendly. Such a cool vibe to the entire Tea House! We ordered the date, nut, coconut bar with peanut butter.... delicious!! We arrived around 8:30am and were able to grab a table but it filled up VERY quickly. BRING CASH....
We did the hike to both tea houses and while both were amazing I would not recommend doing them both in one day as we did. Also, we preferred the Lake Agnes tea house. My mom had never been to Lake Louise and had only seen the post cards and pictures on calendars so I thought I would take her. Neither one of us had been to the tea houses. The reason for this review is to discuss the level difficulty for those who are wondering. My mother was in her mid-60s and we had no issues. There were little children as well as seniors on the hike. Walking poles are also not a bad idea for those who are a little unsure. Finally, we did not go with a guide. We just started walking down the path along the lake and when we saw the signs for Lake Agnes, we started ascending upwards. It was well worth the trip and I highly recommend it. One final thing, bring cash. It is cash only as they don’t have power and can’t accept debit or credit.
Awesome scenary,very cold water,steep climb...beautiful mountains!
The hike up to the lake house is amazing and well worth it. You see Mirror Lake on the way up and the tea house is also built on a lake (as the name implies). You can either get takeout or get a table. However, expect service to be a bit slow since a few people are running the whole place. They make fresh food everyday and hike a lot of the ingredients up daily. The hike is relatively steep and is on a dirt path. I believe it is rated as a Medium difficulty, but is well worth the views and treats at the top! Be sure to try the Apple Crumble!
Expected a lot better stuff, I've tried Chocolate cake and lemonade which it was okay. But friendly staff and following COVID protocols. stunning view and nature.
Hike up for 2 hours in July 2021! Totally worth it and a small quaint tea house for finishing the hike was awesome experience.????
The trail which lead to the Lake Agnes Tea house and the Beehive is very good maintain. The view is amazing. Snow on the trail is very soften. Tea House is the high light of hiking. By the way, snowshoeing, cross-country ski, or downhill ski are must do in Lake Louise during snow season.
True gem. Unforgettable views from the patio at 2,100 meters. Well worthy of 3.4 km hike from Lake Louise through the pine woods. Nutcracker and magnificent Seller’s Jays can be seen. Nature at its best. Apple crumble and tea to refresh before heading down. Simply s p e c t a c u l a r and relatively easy to access.
The tea house is open early this year. I highly recommend the Lake Agnes hot tea and the banana bread. They only take cash so don't bother taking credit cards.
A delicious marshmallow topped hot chocolate and cinnamon crusted butterer scones (with packages of honey) after the hike up from Lake Louise hit the spot. View is spectacular. Everything is hiked up, including coin/change, so they would appreciate exact change or purchases can be made with credit cards (not able to accept debit cards or Apple Pay as there is no electricity at the top of the world). They would appreciate if you could hike down a small bag of garbage, as everything that is hiked up must be hiked down.
The hike up was nice, and it was nice to catch a break at the tea house after the hike.
Beautiful view! Didn’t get any tea but it was a nice spot to stop and have lunch
The hike up was absolutely worth it for the chai tea latte and the breathtaking views. All the staff have to hike all the food up in 70L packs every morning, the staff at the tea house are incredible. Makes you that much more thankful for the food + tea at the top of the hike.
The Teahouse is lovely, they have beautiful views and it definitely helped motivate me to get to the top knowing there was food waiting. Food was a bit pricey (understandably so because of the location) for what you got. I would recommend packing food and just getting a beverage like tea or hot chocolate or lemonade.
Such a cute little hut right by Lake Agnes! Fun fact, the workers hike in with supplies every day and the water for the tea is sourced straight from the lake! Bring cash as they only accept cash! Also, try either their chocolate cake or aplle pie crumble, you WILL NOT be disappointed!
Delightful tea house on a beautiful hike!! I loved hiking up to Lake Agnes Tea House. The hike is uphill pretty much all the way but not steep or difficult. When I got to the tea house there was a small line to sit and eat but it moved quickly as they have community tables so that’s fun to chat with fellow hikers. The service is great. Efficient and friendly staff. I had a PB&J on homemade bread and a hot chocolate. The story of the tea house is so cool too. You can read about it while you wait. Also the views can’t be beat! Bring cash!!! No cards. I would highly recommend stopping by! It’s so wonderful!
Great little spot! And what a Hike to get there.
Cute little rest area for a tea shop in the middle of the hike! Tea here good but quite expensive- but again they have to deliver it from ground to up this mountain for you to enjoy!
Great hike 4.6km. A little chilly on top bring a sweater.
the hike is mainly through the "forest" and uphill. you get to see mirror lake on the way. Really nice hike. It gets quite busy, go early if you can. nice teahouse to relax and get refreshments. We didn't buy any pastries or sandwiches, but definitely will next time! It smelled awesome. You can sit and eat in OR there is a "to go" line you can use too. We did the full teahouse to teahouse hike. We didn't bring enough water, fortunately we can buy them at the teahouses. Cash only water bottle is $4 lemonade is $3 (really diluted)
Beautiful European style tea house with great tea and biscuits. It's such a treat to sit and enjoy a cup of tea with views after hiking.
Definitely worth the climb up the side of the Big Beehive. This place is cash only FYI and small pots of tea start at $6.50. Food tastes great and a really friendly group of people.
good hiking and nice nature where you have a good tea at the tea house
Very good service, It would be better if they add more items to their menu such as different soups and sandwiches or chilli.
The view is worth the hike. The tea House gets crowded and you have to wait for a table. Washrooms are near. No garbage disposal available.
Absolutely must do. Limited food menu but very delicious sweets. Extensive tea menu. Nothing beats drinking warm tea and having an apple pie at the top of the mountain. Be prepared for a 5 mile hike with a 1400 foot elevation gain which is doable.
This was just a fun spot to stop during our hike. The soup of the day was delicious and the biscuits we're perfect! There was such a variety of teas, I had lavender green tea which was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and clearly loved being there. It was a bit crowded, I recommend arriving early and just keeping an eye out to grab a spot to sit.
Beautiful, unique experience in a breath taking location. Hike in was fairly easy for me. Done in less than an hour. Plenty of good views along the way. Recommend to arrive early (8-930) to avoid crowds. Lake is beautiful and plenty of time to sit and enjoy the scenery. I had a pot of tea and the mountain bar (which was amazing). It's expensive but understandable given the location. Be sure to ask about how they staff/resupply the place. I went to the one and the plain of the glaciers and I thought this was the better (and shorter) option
Fantastic tea and biscuits. Don't forget to bring cash.
I did the Big Beehive hike today and stopping here for some hot drinks, a sandwich, tea biscuits and their peanut butter and mountain bars was just the break we needed. I would definitely recommend the apple cider and the bars, they were excellent. The service was super quick in spite of the never-ending line.
Super cute spot and great after a hike up, staff works hard and is friendly and efficient. It's cash only, you pay in advance so you can just up and leave after. We didn't have to wait long for a seat indoors but this really depends on many factors. As for the food, it's alright. Most stuff isn't home made. The biscuit was good, the chips and salsa is store bought stuff the hummus is one of the worst I've had and hummus isn't hard to make. It was mostly just smushed chick peas not quite hummus and not quite seasoned. The chai latte is nice and warm with that heat (spice and temp wise), a bit too sweet to my taste but good. Would I go out of my way for the food here? Will I be writing home about the food? Absolutely not. Was it fun and would I recommend it? Yes, but not if you're going out of your way for this. It's just a fun thing to do and a unique experience to have and a reward once you're up there.
First of all all stars for the location! And the options for food are limited but perfect for munching while you take few minutes rest along your hike!
The hike up to Agnes’s tea house is worth it a long the way you pass a small lake called mirror lake and a waterfall that is fed from lake Agnes. At the tea house they offer a lot of different tea flavors, almost too much to choose from. I picked they daily special which was strawberry white and it was delicious. The view from 2100 meters high is awesome. Make sure to bring a jacket as it can be cold up there even when the sun is out.
Very friendly and awesome views!
Crazy busy, even on a rainy day, so we didn't go in. Beautiful view though! There are some very bold, mooching squirrels in the area ????
After the hike up, a hot drink and some food is a welcome treat, made better by beautiful surroundings and friendly staff! Recommended you set off early to beat the rush.
Be prepared to wait for a drink or snack.
Awesome place to grab some tea/snacks to keep you hiking. Awesome staff that have to repeat their hiking trips 173528 times a day ????
Wonderful tea and scones! Cherry green tea was delicious. Lentil soup also good. A bit of a wait, share a table if you can, and plan for rain.
Loved the hike to it. Amazing views. It's a cash only place so make sure to bring some. Plenty of seating around the lake. Very friendly staff and chipmunks!
All uphill to the teahouse with many sections of the trail covered in horse droppings. The tea house was busy during covid, so we didn't wait.
Amazing hike! Our teens had a blast. The views of Lake Louise and the chateau are amazing if you hike up the trail a little bit further above the tea house.
A must see spot! Well worth the hike!
Tough hike. Uphill going to the tea house. If you have knee problems it will be a challenging one for you. But once you reach the top you’ll be in awe of the scenery. You’ll pass by Mirror lake prior to reaching Lake Agnes. Be sure to take a moment there to rest. I felt a different aura on that lake that I could not explain..;) it’s beautiful. I was mesmerized ????????????. Once you’re at the tea house make sure to get a cup of their famous black tea. Their tuna sandwich is good too. They accept credit card and cash. (FYI: Some hikers bring their own snacks and are just having tea or drinks from there.) ☕️????????
Beautiful. There's no electricity and the simplicity is perfection.
Absolutely beautiful. Worth the hike.
Tea biscuits and mountain bar is really good
I've been coming here for well over a decade before social media exploded the crowd sizes and have enjoyed the experience each and every time, especially when they have chocolate cake! I heard rumors of square payment this year, but always carry cash and was happy to help when they needed change. We're in a difficult time and everyone is doing their best.
I've been to to twice and on a cold day it's lovely to visit and get a cup of hot tea. Plus the chipmunks are very entertaining and so bold
The food didn't taste freshly made. Although we saw someone get biscuits ready to cook prior to opening, the biscuit and cookies we got were not warm. The chai tea latte was good but its made from a powder, hoped for a higher quality product. Waitress was friendly. Would have loved warm food after hiking in the cold to experience the tea House.
Lovely little place to grab a coffee after a walk up to lake Agnes. Beautiful in the snow.
4.7km to this teahouse. Very nice views you've gone this far it's about 5km from 6 glaciers teahouse so keep going. Difference of extra 2km to hit both teahouses.
I visit this area weekly and love it.
Amazing views, amazing service!
It was a hard and long hike for our family, we had four little kids, including a newborn baby. Warm food and delicious tea worked as a great addition to our experience from the hike. It was a bit pricey, but they should deliver food up to the tea house somehow and then also get rid of all the waste from the costumers, and it all costs effort and time. The only regret is that we didn't have enough cash to buy their tshirt. The view of the lake is breathtaking, we spent about an hour sitting on the bench, while the boys were playing on the rocks. Beautiful memories...
Nice log house next to wonderful lake Agnes. After 3.4km (1 hour and 30 minutes) climbing Tea House provide refreshments and relax. One "bad things" is lot of people here :-)
Really good place for fresh up and have a warm drink and meal. Nice and friendly staff.
Really good hike tout reach a tiny chalet where you fer a tea, cookie, or few other stuff... Stuning view, a must do... (When it's open! Ask before...)
We went there in mid June, it was a little chilly and the lake agnes was still half frozen. The view was magical when it started drizzling and I could see rainbow around the waterfall The tomato soup of the teahouse was delectable. Tuna sandwich was okay.
Not a great place to get a quick snack or meal. It took theme nearly 30 min to get our food. The hot chocolate tastes the hot water. Overall the a not very good place to get food.
View of lake agnes amazing i would recommend this place to everyone,, breathtaking
Nice little stop before you head out on a few amazing hikes. I got the lemonade (too hot for tea!) And cheese sandwich. Great boost to keep me going. There wasn't a line up when I went but I heard it can get busy so you might want to go early. You can get take out and sit by the beautiful Agnes Lake surrounded by mountains or if you get lucky, take a seat on their beautiful patio. I wish I got the chocolate cake!
Awesome place!!! Located near beautiful water falls and mountains. Worth place to visit. There’s a steep hike of 3.4km which is starting from lake Louise ( also known as lake Louise trail ) and this trail take you to the lake Louise tea house! When you at the top you’ll enjoy the magnificent and mesmerizing beauty of nature. This tea house close at 6pm!
What a cool experience! Just a quick little beginners level hike (with some great scenery on the way) up to the tea house. Definitely worth the extra hour!
Great view and challenge to be taken. The hike always take you up hill. Have very comfortable shoes as lots of rocks are present on the road protect your feet. Another advise plan for 3 hours at least for the hike.
Great View!, Great Service!,Good food...Worth the Hike!..
Worth the hike! The blueberry apple crumble was amazing!
This place is amazing! Wonderful people and views! Their hot Apple cider is a must. Here i leave the covid 19 measures and recommendations
Nice small log house next to lake serving food and drinks. Indoor and patio seating. Also possible to get food to-go. Only cash is accepted. Don’t hope for great service, they found out that they are out of salmon 30 minutes after I placed the order. There are restrooms nearby
Obviously the scenery up here is amazing and all, but don't hike up for just this teahouse. Nice variety of teas but it's so ridiculously overpriced (for a well below average sandwich)and the staff we dealt with was very rude. Be sure to carry credit cards since debit wasn't accepted last we went.
Busy tea house! Good tea! It's quite a hike uphill but the views are worth it. There are quite a few mosquitoes so bring bug spray and also watch out for horse poop.
Bit of a hike for those out of shape like me haha, but worth it. All kinds of tea and some snacks, soups, sandwiches available, cash only. Go there!
Not exactly easy to get to; this one of a kind teahouse is sure to charm you. Down to earth way above sea level and giving you a place to talk about visiting during your vacation. Completely worth the hike.
Definitely worth the hike! Such an amazing view! Great customer service and amazing food! Will hike back again ????
Its the typical overpriced tourist thing at the top of a mountain. Wouldnt recommend spending money here.
It was one of my incredible experience hiking there, the tea house are so beautiful and the stuff there so kind and smiley
It was our first time at the Farmont Lake Louise. The view was very beautiful. The hike up to the Lake Agnes Tea House took 1 hour. It had spectacular views along the way as well as at the top.
After an up hill hike the whole way, the coffee and view make it all worth it. The only improvement would be adding debit and credit to the payment options, it’s cash only. So, it’s a bit of a bummer to find out when you’ve just hiked up the mountain and want a coffee or sandwich. Also, it’s way over priced, but in a way that makes sense as it is so high up it must be difficult to supply.
We started our hike to Lake Agnes early, so we arrived very they opened at 8. There was a big crowd already there right when they opened and a line down the stairs by the time we left 30 minutes later. It was incredibly foggy when we were there, so there were no views at all of the lake, but I can imagine that the views from the front porch are awesome on a good day. The tea house was nice and rustic. My mom got a chai tea latte which she liked, but it was pretty small. Prices seem pretty high, but it seemed like a good place to relax and get a bite to eat after hiking.
Always a welcome treat at the end of the Lake Agnes hike. You have to try the chocolate cake which is as good as everyone says it is. Try to get there earlier in the morning or later on in the afternoon to skip the crowds.
The hike is not "easy" but it was worth it!! The views here are amazing and the snack that we grabbed at the Tea House was delicious. You could tell it was made fresh. Bring cash and be aware that they do close at 5pm. The young ladies that run this place make this hike with all of their supplies. They live up at the top with no electricity or running water for days at a time. If you can't respect what they do to offer people a snack and a warm drink after a strenuous hike then maybe it's not the place for you. Loved it and would go back.
Very cool little tea house(edit: The coolest Tea House) nestled at the top of a small hike. Staff was super friendly and had great knowledge of the area and different nearby hiking trails. The food tastes amazing and you can tell most of the items are homemade. I was laughing very hard at some of the negative comments about the food selection and prices of this place....Cmon people, it's a cute little tea house on the shores of a lake that's halfway up a mountain and only accessible by foot or horse...its not an all you can eat Pizza Hut buffet lol.
My third time here. Always loved the tea house and the location, hence kept coming back. Please be advised that the hike is uphill all the way up to tea house.
This is a good place as a destination or a stopping point for further trails such as the big beehive or Devils thumb. The tea house is nice but gets very busy.
Hiked from Plain of Six Glaciers up to the Lake Agnes Teahouse. From the Teahouse back down to Lake Louise, it was TERRIBLE! It had snowed earlier that morning so the crowds of people heading to the Teahouse had trampled the snow into a slipperier than snot winter luge! It was so bad that we broke a huge hiking rule—we bushwhacked through the trees to avoid all the slippery ice.
The staff is super rude, they don't want you here. It's a hassle to ask a simple question. Food is good, scenery is unbelievable but the staff hate other people and it shows
Amazing teas to choose from just be prepared to wait a while as you need to be seated. The lake is beautiful to gaze at and if you wanna go higher you can following the trail next to the tea house
An excellent stop on a great hike. A little pricey. Cash only.
Cute little wooden tea house
Unbelievable. A little busy but a great hike. Please don't litter.
Stunning view, worth your time and efforts hiking all the way there.
It was very beautiful, we rode up on horseback with Timberline tours, well worth the money I highly recommend
This is such a quaint and charming little tea house, you can tell the employees are genuinely happy to be there. The tea biscuits, fresh bread, and on site blended teas were delicious. It was of course busy when we arrived, but wait times weren't awful and really with views of the lake and the mountain air who can complain!
Beautiful place must visit, worth every step.
Trail up is clearly marked and the views throughout are amazing. Hike is reasonably good to complete with children
Perfect view. 3.6 km hikes is nothing if you reach the top lake. Must try the hot chocolate and soup. I love it
The hike from Chateau Louise is steep but doable for all ages, just bring good runners or hiking boots. It was quite chilly in late August so perhaps bring a few layers. The actual tea house was lovely, and I think the food pricing is very fair considering the amount of labour that goes into it (the staff hike the ingredients up daily so fresh food can be made daily). ** We were lucky as we hiked up right after a heavy downpour, so the crowds had left :)
Great hike in Lake Louise but make sure you leave early to beat the crowds on the way up. Coming back down you will pass lots of hikers. Tea house itself is beautiful and set on Lake Agnes - well worth a hike if you don't mind company.
Best hike ever it's very busy recommend early in the morning. Of course it is a steep trail and there is some stairs up to the Lake Agnes Tea House and the views are magnificent.
Wide selection of tasty teas, made with water drawn from the glacier fed lake. Homemade breads, cakes and scones. Everything is hauled up the mountain by the staff, who were quite welcoming and friendly. Bring cash and be prepared to pack out your garbage. A really nice experience that feels like a bit of an adventure, but is actually quite manageable.
Amidst COVID times, mid-week and early on a rainy day in early July. Could not have asked for a more perfect time to take the walk up without any crowding or waiting for some delicious Earl Grey, a PB&J and some chips and salsa. So grateful to visit such a beautiful place again for the first time in almost 30 years. Now is the time to (re)visit this wonderful place in a peak season without the peak crowds! They also now have Square for CC payment, but brought and paid in cash!
After a nice hike, you can enjoy hot pot of herbal tea with amazing view, don’t forget to carry your cash to pay for the tea and food
Lake Angeles is really nice area at Banff although I do think Lake Moraine is nicer. I think the most picturesque hike in the park is going by The Tea House to The Summit we got Within about a quarter mile of the glacier. Lake Agnes is a long way in the distance with all the heavy foot traffic a long way aways. This definitely work the height to The Summit and is only about an hour and a half from the Stop The Tea House. The Teahouse the very quaint stop. It is a cash only operation so be prepared with cash on hand. I'm like the USA parts Banff does not have a lot of water unless you carry it in yourself. Enjoy the hike!
If you want breakfast or lunch with a outstanding view, then this is the place, remember cash
The tea is great and it is highly commendable that they server some kind of food at that height. Beware of the squirrels! They are very cheeky and sneaky. They took my tea biscuits away ????
The trek to the tea house is tough, especially if you're not in shape. It's around 3.4km of rough mountain terrain with an incline that ranges from 10-40 degrees one way. But the view from up top is worth it!!! The staff at the tea house are helpful and cheerful. The food is average, but tastes good after the hike. Remember to carry water. It gets colder as you move up the mountain. Going back down is way faster and less stressful.
It's a must place to hike! I loved it a lot. I'm not a hiker in fact I rarely go somewhere for a hike. The hike is worth it especially when you get there before the crowd and watch the sunrise shine on the mountain. That was pretty amazing! We started our hike at 5:30am and we arrived 10 minutes after 7am. We're the first people that got there. We did a lot of stops because my thighs were sore from the previous hike. But we made it! Took lots of pics and videos. The tea house was nice. They are open at 8am and they use the water from the lake for your order. So, yeah, you are drinking the water from the lake. Don't worry though they boiled it real good. We ordered hot choco, coffee and soup and it was good. After we had our breakfast we got a disposable bag to put our garbage like the caps and brought it down to throw it to the garbage.
Beautiful log house located at the top of a tough but achievable hike (for an out of shape amateur haha). The food was quite simple, and pricey but this makes sense when there is no electricity and all ingredients are either flown in once a year or hiked up by staff. We enjoyed the biscuits with jam, and mountain bars. Only ‘con’ is that it is flooded with people and with so many customers and minimal staff service is very slow.
A must!!good hike, took about an hour and the food was a nice surprise.
People don't actually come to this Tea House for the taste of the food. They come here for the spectacular view of Lake Agnes and the beautiful Waterfall. They are just happy there is a Tea House up there so they can get refreshed from the hike. The service is very friendly. We got there just after they closed, but they were nice enough to still offer us refreshments and a snack. That was very much appreciated. The prices are very much justified, as it is quite laborous to get it all up there.
The absolute cutest tea house I have ever been to. I was so exited to go here and it was worth the trek. The hike to get here is gorgeous however longer than you might think. The food and tea is delicious, I bought some to take home and I’m so happy I did. Staff was very pleasant and the place is just so cozy. I hope visit again one day.
This place is a nice reward after a beautiful hike. Whatever gripes people have with this place, they still deserve 5 stars. Staff have to hike here carrying ingredients and hike back carrying garbage. Baked goods here are excellent.
One of the most amazing experience and trek i ever had. Beautiful ambiance, staff was charming and the vieww????????????. I loved the idea of having such a cute tea stall. I had vegetable soup it was delicious ???? would love to visit again.
Best meal I have ever had on a hike, the soup of the day was full of veggies, the bread was fresh baked and wonderful tea, and the best views to boot, well worth the trouble to get up there.
Friendly staff, good snack food. The hike is worth it. Beautiful waterfall, and sights.
Iconic teahouse at the end of the hike. You can rest up here with a wide selection of teas and some snack before descending or continuing up to the beehive. You can also help them out by taking your own trash with you on your way down.
Worth the hike! Servers were awesome and very attentive. We recommend their Blueberry crumble.
This is a quaint feeling tea house in the middle of the mountains. When you’re there it feels special and remote. The staff was nice, helpful and hard working. The tea was great and the food was good. They offered a coupe different wraps that day. We sat and talked with other hikers for an hour here before moving onto the next hike. A must do, in my opinion!
This is a nice resting place after a long hike.
Worth the hike ???? biscuits are the ????.com
We got there pretty late in their day so there wasn't much left, but the granola/trail mix bars we got were very good and the tea selection was still quite large. After about 18km of hiking it was a beautiful spot to stop for a break and the staff were all very friendly too.
Perfect stop on the way up to devils thumb. Amazing tea and great sandwiches.
Nice tea House. The tea was alright, got the dragon pearl. The Apple crumble was amazing but I'm partial to that pastry. It's a nice little hike up you can take a horse tour up there via timberline tour. Though you might not feel comfortable having horses hike up a narrow switchback.
After a though, steep hike on the Lake Agnes Trail at Banff National Park you are rewarded with warm tea and delicious treats at the Lake Agnes Tea House. This was one of the best experiences I’ve had. The view at the tea house was spectacular. I went at the end of summer so it was crowded. However, the staff was very accommodating. The service was great. I drank some hot chocolate and ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a biscuit, some tortilla chips and a chocolate bar. The history behind the tea house is provided on the menu, be sure to read it! There are not a whole lot of seats available inside the house itself but there is a seating area outside. Enjoying the treats outdoors and taking in the beautiful nature was incredible. It was worth the tough hike! There are little “gems” along the hike as well.
We hiked to Devil's Thumb and stopped by on our way back. Their Tuna sandwich is really good. I also appreciate the sheer effort they have gone and still go through to have an eatery up in the mountains. Hikers are encouraged to help carry trash down the mountain. Bottles of water are helicoptered up (reason for really high price tag). The Banff Riders informed us mules are also used for goods transport. Very cool. Lots of places to eat whether by the lake or on the covered porch. Also, restrooms are located up the trail. They are primitive and can get quite rancid, but we still used them. The Lake Moraine toilets are much worse.
Fantastic soup (in my best top 5!) Exactly in the right place after an hour trek and another few to go before the cafe at the 6 glaciers! No coffee but loads of teas and hot chocolate and light food
Beautiful scenery and enjoyable food, a very good combination
It's absolutely worth the hike up for their homemade goodies!
This cute shack is worth the trip of the Lake Agnes and Big Bee Hives Trail just off of Lake Lousie. I would recommend getting to this shack close to 8:30-9:30a as it gets extremely busy after that. The food is brought up the trail each day and the garbage is taken down each night. It is suggested that visitors take their trash with them as the workers are stuck taking the rest down at the end of the day. I would definitely come back.
Great hike up to the teahouse from the Fairmont. Teahouse is closed for the winter, but still worth doing the hike for the views
We loved the somewhat strenuous hike up. Lake Agnes is beautiful and the Tea House was really cool. Only in Canada have I come across a Tea House while mountain hiking! Way to go Canada! I'm from Colorado, so I've done my fair share of hiking. Lake Agnes is a memorable experience! Thank you!
Amazing views, hard walk worth it.only 3-4 kms but the uphill at the start set the calves on fire. 100%worth it No cash up top. The staff pack all the food and garbage in and out. Be nice ;)
The place was not big and since it is covid and because of social distancing but the crew were great and nice. Food was not bad since after a hike tea and hot choco is the best in this cold place.
This incredible place you should definitely visit! We went from Moraine Lake up the trail took us about 2.5 hours, descent an hour. On the way, you will see a beautiful Lake Mirror, a little later a waterfall and then anamazing valley with a lake surrounded by mountains where a tea house is located! The tea is very tasty. And also in the company of chipmunks and birds it was awesome ????
Such a cute tea house with a decent selection of items for lunch or snacks: soup, sandwiches, cookies, bars, teas, etc. The prices are a tad high, but keep in mind there's no electricity and things have to be carried up the mountain each day or helicoptered every once in a while. BRING CASH, NO CARDS ACCEPTED! Be prepared to wait to get a seat, wait for your meal, but the view and experience is all worth it. The hike up took our family of 12 (including 7 kids aged 3-12 years old) took about two hours, with photo breaks and rest breaks...it was uphill the entire way, which was fine for most of us, but the younger kids had to be carried. The hike down was much easier (all downhill) and we made it down in less than one hour! Bring water and good shoes! It gets busy!
Easy to moderate hike up the mountain. Friendly staff. Stunning views. Bring enough water for the hike, and trekking poles could be useful for some of the steeper paths back downhill.
The climb was aweful because I am out of shape. But once you get there. Wow. PS. Bring cash for the tea house
Cash only! Pricey but very tasty, and wonderful views if you are seated on the porch!
Absolutely stunning. Only regret was getting there out of season.
What a view! The hike up is manageable for most levels, depending on how many tests you may take. While I wouldn't hike that far for the food offered, the food was what I consider a bonus to the view and experience. Most items where sold out when we arrived, but I can recommend the scones.
Lots of choices. They prefer cash. A great stop on the way to the Big Beehive trail.
I was there for the first time in 2018 for my birthday and it was an absolute delight. The view and tea house is so beautiful and exactly like Swiss chalets. It has the friendliest and most courteous staff, fresh and delicious food. Highly recommended to those who are looking for a unique experience. Remember to have cash with you, because they don't have CC machine or ATM. Thank you for the wonderful experience you provided to us.
A good place to catch a bite following a long hike. You can see the beautiful lake agnes and waterfall from the patio and the tea snacks are delicious. A bit pricey, but that's understandable since everything needs to be hiked up.
Obviously a hot spot due to spectacular views. Other than that, was ok,not great
The food was fanaminal! The girl who served us was soo nice. Definitely worth the hike!!
Fantastic spot for some tea and snacks after a day of hiking. It's perched on a higher spot, so you get a better view of Lake Agnes from here than from the water's edge. Check out my photo.
This is the most trafficked route and becomes overcrowded/ smelly and difficult.... That being said if you can get there early, sit outside and enjoy a hot tea and cake after the walk up, it’s beautiful at Lake Agnes. Walk up takes about an hour and is a bit steep at times...
I think the chocolate cake should be renamed Heavenly Chocolate Cake! Sarah was delightful, the food and tea were wonderful and our time at Lakes Agnes and Louise were spectacular!
Great staff Very basic food They charge $1 for using your CC, don't take debt. So bring cash with you.
This is a can't-miss experience. It's a steep but stunning hike up the mountain. When you make it to the top you are greeted by a bunch of happy hikers and a stunning little lake that was half-frozen when we were there in mid-June. The tea house is positively charming with equally charismatic employees. The view and tea combined are such a memorable experience. They even get the water for tea from the nearby lake. Just all around one of my favorite experiences on any vacation. So pleasant, peaceful, and super chill. Again, the hike is quite steep, be prepared, but well worth it.
Amazing! The hike was tough for me but well worth it. Great views, great food, glacier water tea and hot chocolate was satisfying on a cold morning hike. Friendly servers and friends
Very popular place right on the picturesque lake. The Tea House has table service and does take away as well. You may have to line up as it is very popular. Simple food and drinks at reasonable prices.
This place was a blessing. I was so hungry when I finished the first part of my hike, luckily the Tea House was there to save the day. Food came quick and was delicious. Gave me the energy I needed to climb to the top of The Big Beehive.
There’s something special about ending up at this Tea House after a slightly strenuous 1 hour hike. We went on their last day of the season so the menu was limited but the soup was very good!! And warmed me up on this chilly day. The trail had an icy section which had a huge stain of blood so if you go when there is a chance of snow/ice up there….bring your crampons!!! Will do this hike again next year, really loved it.
Hard hike but worth it. Use the take out window.
The hike is definitely worth it! Get yourself a rewarding (although, expensive sandwich - $10) at the end of it. The cheese sandwich was my personal preference. Other reviews are accurate that you do have to carry your garbage down but it is nicely wrapped up in a bag and it is all paper products (no oil or grease involved so it’s not messy). The chipmunks are so inquisitive & will come up to see if they can get any free food so be careful not to leave snacks unguarded. Great experience & very picturesque backdrop.
This Tea House is WELL worth the hike up from lake Louise. We were seated very quickly, the service was a bit slow but our server was very friendly and accommodating. We got the Rocky Mountain energy tea for the rest of our hike— Delicious! The soup and hummus was also fantastic. A must see spot if you’re at lake Louise
A perfect spot to reward yourself after a hike. The houseblend tea, sandwiches and tomato soup were gone in minutes after they were served. Only drawbacks are the washrooms, and cash is the only method of payment.
I've been here multiple times and food and tea (of course you have to get one - it's a tea house!) has always been very good. Not mentioning the awesome scenery that is well worth the 60 -120 mins (depending on your own pace) hike up to the Tea House from Lake Louise. If there's a drawback than it is the popularity and the queue corresponding to it but who cares about a wait in such an environment.
It is long climb, but it's worthwhile
The teahouse was closed by the time we hiked up, but the staff were friendly and helped us find some of the best viewpoints around. Will definitely go back for tea and food next time.
It is a very challenging hike to get up the mountain but it is worth it once you arrive. Food and views were delicious!
It’s a cool destination to hike to. It’s not your typical tourist destination. It’s CASH ONLY, the service was very good even thought they were slammed, and the apple crumble & soup of the day were delicious. Also can’t go wrong with the tea. Seriously worth the hike and you can’t beat the views from there. Be nice to the servers because they work really hard to keep everyone happy! Go take the hike!
Whatever you imagine is more than that. If you visited Lake Louise, it is a must place. You can go hiking while enjoying beautiful scenery, and after a transparent and sweet lake, you will arrive at a tea house where you can enjoy delicious teas. Of course, many people form long lines, but do not worry. Decrease faster than expected. This place only receives cash, which receives US and Canadian dollars.
My girlfriend and I hiked up the ‘Little’ Beehive route past Mirror Lake in the middle of April this year. The ice and snow covered the trail like a paper white oil slick. Each step, we took with ever-growing trepidation as not to injure ourselves and put a damper on our getaway to Alberta. The only thing motivating us to continue on our perilous climb was the inevitable relief of a hot drink and a bite to eat at our final destination; the Lake Agnes Tea House. Much to our catastrophic despair, after our two and a half hour uphill battle - in beaten-up sneakers, might I add - we arrived at the Tea House to find it fully boarded up and closed for the winter season. You may be wondering, why the 5 star rating? On our way up, my girlfriend and I pushed ourselves to levels we never knew existed, kept marching on knowing that each step could be our last, and became closer than we had ever been before as we shared the near-impossible task of reaching the end of the Little Beehive to bask in its sweet Tea House nectar. To put it simply, I now know the true meaning of the saying: “It’s not about the destination; It’s about the journey.”
Trail was almost 3.4 km and takes 1.5 -2 hours straight to Tea house. Beautiful place. bring water for hiking and make sure your shoes has a nice grip. Bring some snacks too. View from Tea house is stunning. I tried lemonade, Chocolate chip cookie, Tea and Tuna sandwich all of them were good and fresh. I definitely recommend to try the food you like from here. Can you imagine such a beautiful tea house on the pick of a mountain!
Nice place to recover or before doing the hardest part of the hike
Great destination to hike to! The Mountain Bar is delicious and highly recommended! Loved the Rocky Mountain Energy tea. (Also be sure to hike to Little Bee for a great view of Lake Louise)!
Very nice view, tea was kind of expensive and refilled of hot water required a 2 dollar fee. Otherwise nice stop on top of the mountain
The hike to Lake Agnes Tea House is strenuous but well worth it. The way up you get peeks back to Lake Louise and see all kinds of wildlife. There are many rest stops (benches, outcrops) to sit at along the way. At the top is the cutest tea house that provides food and at least 50 kinds of tea. The place is seat yourself and can be very busy. The service is slow but they are such nice people and going as fast as they can with the many visitors. There are latrine's near the tea house to use and a lake to see while you wait (or eat your own picnic at). We took around 4 hours to hike, eat and hike back.
This place was great. My partner and I went really early in the morning as it is a very popular hike and we enjoy being alone. When we arrived to the tea house, the staff were super friendly. We grabbed a bite, everything was delicious and fairly priced. The views were breathtaking. My favourite part was filling my water bottle in the stream... After seeing the staff do it for themselves. Please be kind and bring you garbage down the mountain with you else the staff will have to do it!
Great stop with fantastic little alpine lake/pond and views. Keep in mind closing time as we arrived after it had closed but views were still worth it
Cash is preferred. Teas are really good. Very busy place.
So worth the walk! Incredible view, great service, excellent food and tea.
The hike to Lake Agnes was amazing. Very scenic and I’d say it was an easy level hike. In the beginning and near the end it does get rocky and tough but in between it’s smooth sailing. Afterwards we went to the Lake Agnes Tea House and the Tuna Sandwich is a MUST with Apple Cider.
Wonderful tea. Perfect spot to stop on a hike. Great rustic atmosphere. The only downside I found was it was too popular. But that can be said for all of the lake Louise area. To many people.
Make sure to remember it’s cash only! Great hike up to the tea house, get even better views of lake Louise and pass by. Waterfall the lake house offers stunning views of Lake Agnes and the dramatic mountain cliffs behind but the Plain of Six glaciers hike is much more epic and also has a teahouse.
Pretty pricey for just tea, and the tea biscuits were $7/2. However I liked that the biscuits came with butter and strawberry jam, and the hot tea was so comforting on a cold morning
Great hike to this joint. Got there a little late to get food/drinks, but snagged a patch ???? theres a nice waterfall leading from the lake that runs beside the teahouse and over a cliff. Theres also many little seating areas and not too many tourists (atleast not around 5:30). Very nice staff and would definitely go again.
Excellent views and cozy place to stop after hike
The trail leading to the tea house is uphill the entire way so one must be prepared for that. This to me is a must do trail in the area. The tea house is in a great place and has a scenic lake. The food there is tasty too.
You will love their teas after reaching at this point after a tiring hike. Peaceful. Staff is good and welcoming
Awesome view. I was so excited to stop here after our 3.5 km hike. It was a short and easy hike to get to this rest stop and just take in the scenery. They prefer cash, so keep that in mind! Handy to have it in case the power goes out.
It is a bit of a hike to get there but we'll worth the work. Beautiful spot to enjoy a cup it tea by the lake!
A nice way to treat yourself after a steep hike. Good vegetarian options. We had tea and the hummus sandwiches, which were simple but satisfying. And the homemade cookies were delicious.
By the time we made it to the Tea House (we just started it quite late), the tea house itself was already closed. But we really enjoyed the hike. And the tea house and it’s surroundings are absolutely gorgeous. I hope one day we will be back and have a chance to taste the food and drinks too.
Not sure the hike was worth it. Would have tried the other hike up to the plain of six glaziers tea house.
PACK DOWN YOUR OWN GARBAGE. The staff pack everything down after their shift. They are overjoyed if you offer to take a small bag down for them to the parking lot.
The hike was amazing and totally worth it! Breathtaking views from above. The teahouse was cute but the tea not so much. Note if you want to purchase food and drinks, they prefer cash but Credit Cards are accepted for a $1 fee. Also, you have to carry all your garbage down back the trail with you so be prepped with an empty garbage bag. I loved the scones; tried the Agnes Tea House Breakfast blend and was alright. The hike is not too difficult; a bit challenging since there are small rocks on the pathway. Definitely give it a try!
Such a great place! A wonderful place to stop for a cup of tea and a bite to eat. The people who work there are very nice. Just remember to bring cash. They have no electricity therefore no debit machines. We had soup and homemade bread. Absolutely delicious. It was really hard to choose a tea. So many choices! We finally went with a green tea. The view of Lake Agnes and the mountains is breathtaking.
Tea and mountain bar was good. Service can be confusing. Start your hike early, they close at 5pm (but will still serve you sometimes because they're awesome). Great staff!
Never gets old having a tee at tea house, lovely scenery while you enjoy drinking tea
