After believing that we had done our homework on pool companies, we hired Hampton Pools in Sept 2019 to create a pool oasis in our yard. Tim’s design was good, but we should have recognized the red flags. There was never a set of blueprints created, nor elevations shot to measure from (a definite necessity as it turned out). The “drawings” were not to scale nor did they reflect actual location of buildings on our lot.
Communication between management, supervisors, crews, sub trades and the homeowners (us), was minimal at best. Poor organization of workspace, crews, and daily tasks meant the job took much longer than expected. We were advised that it would take 2-3 months to complete (starting the last week of Sept). At the beginning of December, we shut down the crew. It was far too cold to continue and although we were told they could continue working through the winter, we were not prepared to pay to cover and heat the entire area. There was still so much work to do!
We (homeowners) completed ALL of the landscaping, gardens, and finished (restructured) the tiled decks, to make elevation grades work, in the spring of 2020.
I could go on and on with specific issues, and there were MANY, but I will confirm that the liner was installed at the end of May, and the auto cover finally this summer, and we were finally able to swim.
Since then, we have spoken to a few sub trades, and suppliers, and they have literally apologized when they hear that Hampton was our pool installer.
What should have been an exciting time and project for us, was not...
