My engine splash guard partially tore off while driving on the highway nearby - and they looked after me immediately, without an appointment and provided the best service I have ever received. My car broke down on the HW, I managed to bring to this dealership who told me he can't help and just drive all the way to Chiliwack...with a broken exhaust system and almost no engine power. He even tried to convince my car wasn't under warranty when it is. This guys needs to be fired. He was trying everything not to have to help. That's not service. I wish I could give zero stars as one is already too much.

The dealership service department saved my Christmas trip though they were short stuffed and didn’t have the capacity for repairs. My car brake fluid leaked on the way to Sun Peaks because of the heavy snow on Dec 21st, this GM dealer was the closest repair shop I can go, although it’s under GM brand, but Joey helped me out, was very patient and helped me to order the parts, and luckily I got a loaner car from the dealer so I was able to head to the destination. Otherwise, my whole family, with two little kids will be stuck in Hope. Thank you!

We broke down on the highway and took our vehicle here as it was the only place open on a Saturday. It was my brothers girlfriends Honda Civic. They said they got the car in the shop by 9 at 2pm they called and said they had 3 people working on it and couldn't find the problem they then asked her what her budget is. She called her dad who works at a dealership in fort mac who called and within an hour they had the problem diagnosed and solved. You can decide for your self if they were trying to take advantage of a female owner stuck with no other options.

I got to the shop late of the day and most of their staff was gone already but they still tried to help to have a look of my car. Luckily the stone came out when I was parking my car so they didn't need to take out anything. If I have problems again I would not hesitate to go to these guys again!

There should be negative stars for this place. All the good reviews here must be coming from locals, because they sure don’t treat drop ins from out of town very well. I wouldn’t go here for Service on a vehicle unless you absolutely have to. (And my apologies for the long rant, but I'm still pissed at this place!) The Wednesday before the Canada Day long weekend, our truck broke down on Highway 1 just outside of Hope on the first day of our two week camping trip (we had our trailer hitched up to the truck). We had had the truck serviced in Victoria before we left, so it was a surprise when the check engine light came on and the transmission started acting odd. After we stopped to check what was wrong (at the commercial vehicle weigh station) we were unable to get the truck in gear again. We called Gardner Chevrolet thinking we were lucky we were so close to a town with a Chev dealer. We then called Hope Towing to get us to the dealer. Pete was great and was able to put the truck on the flatbed and hitch up the trailer to take with us. Victor on the Gardner service desk suggested that we could drop our trailer behind their shop while they looked at the truck, so this is what we decided to do (even though Pete suggested dropping the trailer off first at a campground down the street). We were encouraged by Victor’s suggestion and thought we’d be back on our way later that day (or that they would at least be able to read the code so we would know what the problem was). When we finally got to the dealer (around 1pm), I made a remark that this wasn’t the greatest start to our holiday. Victor just snidely replied “You’re not the only ones here”. He then asked if we’d like him to call the campground for us – without even mentioning when they’d be able to get to look at our truck. We then had to get Pete to re-hitch up our trailer and tow it to the campground (at a cost of an additional $80!) – especially frustrating as we could have had him drop it on the way to the dealer and the extended warranty would have picked up the cost. We waited all day for Victor or someone from the Service department to call us and at least let us know what the problem might be (at this point we weren’t sure if it was our transmission or just an electronic component). We even stopped by an hour or so later to pick up something we had forgot in the truck and were only greeted with a seemingly spiteful “How’s the camping?” remark. (Especially galling as we had reservations with our daughter and her husband to be camping outside Osoyoos and were then supposed to be heading for a family reunion the next day in Cranbrook.) No news on the truck or when/if they would be able to look at it. We spent a sleepless night wondering how we were going to get moving again and if we would get to our family reunion on the Canada Day weekend. The campground we were in (and likely every campground in the province) was completely booked for that weekend and we had no way to move our trailer anyway. We phoned the Service department as soon as they opened the next morning and had to leave a message as they were too busy to come to the phone. When they still hadn’t called back an hour later, we tried again. This time they told us “It’s all fixed.”. While this was good news, it would have been nice if they could have looked at it/fixed it the day before (especially as they only had to change out the transmission control module – which took a very short time in the end). Overall, the worst service we could have received and a thoroughly horrible experience.

Was here years ago, almost bought a used Hummer H2, but, transmission was blown on test drive. Explained I would buy it if they put a new transmission in it. Waited 2 months and they finally put a new tranny in it, but, by then had moved on. What wonderful service! These guys went above and beyond my expectations while keeping to the price they initially quoted me. Everyone was very friendly and I certainly felt appreciated as a customer. I'm new to Hope, and finding a trustworthy mechanic was an imperative to me. I initially took my car to another shop in town, unnamed (here's a hint: starts with "C," and ends with "S"), where they charged me $45 just to tell me what was wrong with the vehicle (even though it seemed pretty obvious). Plus they quoted me double what I paid at Gardner and wouldn't let me bring in my own part. Long story short, go to these guys. They won't overcharge you, they'll chat, and they will treat you like a valued customer -- not an ignorant victim to be taken advantage of. Thank you once again, Gardner Chev. You earned a lifelong customer today :)

I bought a truck here in 2010. The sold me an extended warranty package and told me that if I didn’t end up using it I would get my money back for the cost of the warranty. They even went as far as to discourage me from using it on little things that might go wrong, just as an added incentive to get my money back after the 5 years for not using it. I never ended up having to use the warranty and when the 5 years was up I called them to ask how I go about getting the money back, they simply told me they have no idea what I’m talking about and that such a warranty has never existed. Lots of places have warranties like this in place. However, I looked through all my paperwork and there was nothing in writing. Scammed. They also told me my truck had blue tooth and it was even on the options sheet. No blue tooth in my truck at all…. Seems like a shady place to do business with

My brakes decided to give out on our way back to Langley from the Okanagan the day after the July long weekend, and the wonderful staff and technicians here were able to look at my car (without an appointment) and fix the brakes within a few hours. They even worked a bit past their closing time to make sure that we would be on the road as quick as possible. The cost was reasonable as well for such a last minute repair! Highly recommend.

I would like to thank Joey and the staff in the service department at Gardner GM for getting us back on the road quickly and reasonably. We experienced a sudden AC compressor failure while travelling north of Hope on hwy 1 on the Friday evening of the Labour Day long weekend. This failure on our 2010 F150 made it undrivable and meant towing the vehicle somewhere to be repaired. Being a long weekend, most shops were closed or not fully staffed and things were looking bleak for the start of our vacation. I called Gardner GM at 8:00 am Saturday morning and spoke with service advisor Joey. He was willing to help and suggested that if I was able to get the vehicle there by noon, he had techs available to look at it. Towing was arranged, we arrived around 12:30, and by around 5:00 pm it was rolled out of the shop running perfectly. The service was terrific, very reasonable charges, but mostly the willingness to help out when really needed, we can't thank you enough. My wife, myself and our dog Pearl are grateful and would recommend Joey and the Gardner team no matter what make of car you drive.

You live up to your reputation. We pulled into town with issues on our 2016 Duramax and we were told good luck getting this particular dealership to look at it by 2 separate parties. My husband, working in the auto industry for over 20 years didn't think anyone would be so quick to turn us away while traveling with children and not even offer to look at it after the weekend. Fortunately 2 dealerships within an hour from us were eager to help and another offer to get us in Monday if we couldn't fix the issue before then. Gardner I'm sure will want to sell you a $100,000 truck but as locals have said, they won't be too quick to want to help you if something goes wrong.

Jan 10/2022 - a fabulous break down experience. After losing all power steering accompanied by all "check engine" lights glaring 10 minutes from Hope, we managed to limp into the parking lot of Gardner Chevrolet. While my husband was on the phone to BCAA (33rd in line and little hope of help) within 30 minutes Joey and his team had found and removed the broken parts, confirmed that they were in stock, ordered the parts AND found us a "cat friendly" room for the night. We were able to get there in the car that Joey was kind enough to lend us. At 10 AM the next morning the car was completely repaired, the bill was exceptionally reasonable, and we were on our way. Lori, at the front desk, offered access to a phone, hot coffee, and spent considerable time helping us to research road conditions for the Hope Princeton highway. She was amazing! Remarkable service from everyone...we just wish they were in Kamloops!!
