these are all part of the gigantic galen weston conglomerate. they gouge you as much as they possibly can and make you feel good with packaging and bright lights. there are slight differences in the available locations. fish selection is good at this one. it does not have the fantastic bakery that main w or mall rd have. it has an excellent cheese section. the meat is good and occasionally well priced. sausages are great (if they get their delivery). dairy is expensive but surprisingly not located at the extreme back corner if you just need a dozen eggs. staples are extortionately priced, usually on the order of 20-30% higher than anywhere else. same with produce. so for the nice presentation you can pay double for ordinary (but so shiny) vegetables. lovely people there. the parking lot at dundurn is terrifying and has been for years. people use it to cut from main to king and it’s giant suv danger boats right in front of all the entrances. the intake lanes inexplicably all point at the store entrance too, instead of routing drivers to a place to park. it’s notoriously unsafe so be careful there. decent flower section but they will shamelessly skin you alive on v day or easter. and no i’m not buying halloween candy in september.

I have been coming to this Fortino’s location for at least 15 years now, and I have to say the produce is on point. However, I HATE that the produce price signs will say in large that the item is X amount of dollars per pound, but then the receipt shows the weight and price in kilograms. You cannot easily identify if there was a mistake in the price on the receipt as what is on the sign is not what is on your receipt. If you advertise a big bold price per pound, then show it on the receipt that way. Normally on the produce signs it will say in small fine print the price per kilogram but that’s misleading because no one looks at the fine print. I also strongly dislike that the cashiers will give you silent grief for buying bags then stuff them to the breaking point so you can't reuse the bag, and that they think it's fine to put the tomatoes on the bottom and then heavy items on top of them. There needs to be some training in how to pack grocery bags but now I tend to use the self-checkouts so thank you for those! Despite all that, and the crazy parking lot … mmm that produce yo! I’ll be back for more tomatoes tomorrow.

Prices have been jacked way too much. There is no reason I should be paying 30-100% more here for the same products. However, the meat and fish counter are good quality, I shop for veggies and other things elsewhere, but food basics etc. Simply don't have enough the fresh fish. Great staff behind the butcher counter and friendly helpful fish guy.

I have been a long time customer of this store and I really have to commend them for all of their hard work and efforts during COVID-19. The store is well maintained and very clean and their staff have always been very helpful and pleasant. The owner, Dan, goes above and beyond for his customers to ensure their satisfaction and most importantly their health and safety. The good: nice fresh fish and deli and butcher, the fish and butcher guys are great. The bad: the deli people are worse than awful, a couple of them are great..the rest have major (unprovoked) attitude, rudeness, will send you away with the wrong meat, or mash it all up into a ball and hand you the bag. The deli needs serious work. Also, expect to pay 50-100% more for same products as other grocery stores just because it's Fortinos.

Fortinos is very much a one stop shop and you get all your groceries. Vegetables and fruit are excellent. You will find the best of everything. Dates are prime and never expire in a few days. When it comes to never getting everything on you list, that won't happen at Fortinos. The staff are friendly and very helpful. They have manners. You may pay a bit more but you will save it in time, frustration and quality goods. Top-quality goods!!!

Bought the sausage with fennel, got home ready to BBQ and no fennel in the sausage. Bought calfs liver, got home it was cows liver that looks like one end was run through a meet tenderizer to make it thinner, looked gross and they sold this to me. Watch the meat carefully there. Will not buy meat there again. Also the ground meat is not the freshest.

Love how clean it is. I generally don't visit often because it's a bit out of the way. It always has this regal vibe to it. I generally shop at Nations most of trying because it's the closest and I like trying all the different things you can't find at most markets. But when I'm looking for high quality items I will go to fortinos. Also the staff are just super friendly and just seem happy and happy to help in general. You are treated as a priority,which is a nice change. You pay more when you go there,not only for the fresher ingredients but also for the experience in general .

Great store for specific products. Overpriced for most everyday items. Curbside not recommended- only store I've used that charges a fee and I've had issues with orders and charges. They seem disorganized- made arrangements to pay with points and they forgot by the time they arrived at my car. I'll have to see if I was double charged since delivery person was different from phone attendant. I also had a rain check - he took the paper, but never applied it to my order... I think they're fine if you go in the store but I don't recommend paying $5 for curbside - it's a mess.

At most places the employee would have engaged with the customer and offered to take the cart for her. He walked right to where the carts are and watched her return hers

This Fortinos is one of the final few that don't have Pane Fresco food bars. No soups, no sandwiches and no sushi. The shelves are very limited and have next to no selection.

Great selection on certain items. Not as big as the Fortinos in Burlington but still have great deli meat and produce. The bakery section always runs out of fresh buns by the time I go there. It’s a bit more pricey but I’ve never been disappointed with the service or products I’ve purchased.

I've been using my own cart at this location since the plague began, i live in a large apartment building and can't take unnecessary risks with covid. Today i was stopped at the door and told they are enforcing a policy wherein shoppers must use fortinos carts. I'll never come here again, what a ridiculous rule to keep in a pandemic.

I don't often shop at this particular Fortinos but when I do, I'm not impressed. I find the staff to be of lower quality than those of other Fortinos. The store is dirty and not organized well. I don"t find the staffs manerism to be on par of Fortinos; more of a No Frills mindset. Could be improved dramatically in my opinion.

I go to this grocery store quite often.. slightly more expensive than other grocery stores but the quality is there for sure... Particularly I like going here to buy flowers for the wife for the various occasions or odd time I feel like suprising her.. very nice flowers here anytime of the year.. The produce section is very neat and has a lot of selection of produce... particularly in the mushroom department which is my favorite produce item with different varieties not typically seen at other standard type grocery stores... The manager here is a stand up character met him on multiple occasions

I went here for lunch from where I'm working right now and the cafe/store has some good solid and healthy selections (as well as not so healthy but tasty) for lunch! I had the California Salad with Avocado (poppy seed dressing - light or regular) and it was very good with lots of toppings besides just lettuce. It was really fresh and reasonably priced.

review date: december 29, 2020 photo add-ons: december 6, 2021 customer since: consistently ongoing since 2008 i have been shopping at fortinos as needed since the early 1990's, be it at eastgate originally and now at dundurn since it's closest to where i live. dundurn is not as big or as up-to-date in decor as some of the other fortinos locations. however as fortinos bills itself, "the supermarket with a heart", dundurn is nonetheless a great representation of what fortinos is famous for: top-notch selection of your wants and needs, friendly staff and good quality, albeit at a cost. as the saying goes, you get what you pay for and the produce is on point, as is the hot food service. dundurn has done to date, (and will continue to do) a fantastic job dealing with covid, making sure things are clean, safe and orderly. thank you dundurn for everything that you continue to do and have done in the past. ???? another positive i'd like to point out, is the consistently diverse representation of employees at this location. some people may take work for granted, but as a minority myself, it's good to see that those people who are willing to work, have a chance to earn a job and a paycheck, and that race/skin color is not a drawback to achieving employment. one star knocked off for the parking lot. not the most ideal setup or the easiest for ingress and egress, lots of blind spots. bottom line: i would continue to support fortinos-dundurn and would recommend it to others as a grocery store of choice.

I live across the street from Dundurn and whenever I am short on spices while cooking I usually tend to run across and purchase the items I want. Also this store has a wide selection of foods and the vegan community is very well catered to with an ever increasing items on the shelf. I am impressed with the fresh produce and organic selection of foods that are stocked. Additionally, being a student I can avail 10% discount on tuesdays. The staff here is very friendly and will almost always help you find the things you want. Definitely a must visit place for quality grocery shopping.

We went for 2 days to this site as per their weekly Flyer to biu Mazola Oil but found that shelf empty there was sticker which states sorry for inconvenience for not keeping Mazola as advertised in flyer but will arrive the next day on Friday. We then went on Friday but found empty shelf . Earlier another store did the same thing to lure customers to come so that they might buy something else not oil. This is hypocricy and stores should stop this policy advertising products they are not keeping it we were very disappointed and they should only advertised when they get the product not making excuses layer

Although it's relatively expensive, the quality of fruits and vegetables is noticeable when we've bought from other discounted grocery stores - we've bought vegetables from other places and more than a few times, as soon as we cut them open they were damaged or already rotting inside. So, the bit of extra money at Fortinos ends up saving you money in the long rub. Now my wife and I will either do all of our shopping here or, come here specifically for fruits, vegetables and some of the specialty brands only sold here. Cleanliness is always on point and service has never disappointed.

Fortinos is one of my favorite stores. Clean and well organized with variety of foods. They selling beer. There is a pharmacy place inside the store. If you are looking for goat milk and organic produccts, check out the store. It is a pleasure to shop here. Cold cuts, meat, sausagees, fish, chicken and many others, here you can find. What I like most is the reduced vegetables and fruits located by the vegetable ile. Hot food, salads all kind. It is a Great Store!

Yesterday my partner and I went into the grocery store for the first time in 4 months. We were impressed with fortinos systems but mostly so impressed with our cashier Sebastian. He was sooooooooo friendly, and very very kind. Asking if we are staying safe and if our families are as well. It's usually pretty busy but not too busy, I've never had to wait in line because there's too many people, it doesn't seem to get that busy, the staff in my experience have always been friendly or just doing their jobs, I've never actually had any problems here, I go here and some other grocery stores, I do recommend, even their cash out line goes pretty quick and there's never really a wait, at least for me I've never had to wait longer than maybe 2 min

I've always like Fortinos, but I have to say I was shocked when I went in yesterday as I was passing through Hamilton toward Guelph, where I live. I stopped in to buy some liver (beef for my cat, and calf liver for myself). I was stunned to find out that the calf liver was $17.61 per kg! The beef liver was in the normal price range, so to be honest, I didn't even check the price of the calf liver and didn't notice the unbelievable difference till I checked out. I still had a package of calf liver in my freezer that I bought in late March from Longos and it was 9.90 per kg. I've always thought of Fortinos and Longos as very similar, very good stores, but that's a HUGE difference in price in just 8 weeks! Lesson learned: always read the prices and don't assume you're not being gouged on some items.

I used to see lots of people in wheelchairs going into Fortinos, especially older folks. That's all done now. Their window signs clearly point out that people with disabilities such as asthma and heart conditions and others aren't welcome. Their signs ignore the by-law and they offer no exemption to people who can't wear a mask no matter how sick they are. Biggest supermarket in Canada breaking the by-law designed to have compassion for the disabled and discriminating against the sick.... just vile

I see Fortinos removed all the white and blue signs that outlines Hamilton's by-law 20-155 and it's exemptions and sneaked in their own red signs that have no mask exemptions no matter how sick or disabled the person shopping is. Very disappointed that Loblaw and the city would allow this to happen. It's a shame that people too sick and frail to wear a mask aren't welcome at Fortinos.

Great produce, great deli, great bakery and great selection... Prices, not so great. I can do half of mi bi-weekly grocery shopping for the same price I paid for a few items. I bought cereal, milk, two bags of Ritz chips, freezies (pc brand) cinnamon buns, two pieces of rotisserie chicken, a small broccoli salad and potato wedgesand a one or two other items and it came to over $80.00! My biweekly groceries include these items as well as all of my produce, dairy products, bakery items and more, and it comes to about $160.00. I found the prices were a bit expensive but the produce was very fresh and appealing. Some things are worth paying a bit extra for, however I will probably continue to do most of my groceries at a different grocery stores.

My family members have become regulars at the Bean Roast for over 8 years. We truly enjoy the friendly service from Shawn, Paula and Marisol. Having a spot like this makes grocery shopping much more pleasant and convenient. I would recommend this location for a great cup of java and a treat anytime. Very handy to get your groceries and stop for a quick bite to eat.

I totally forgot i was in hamilton. Good job. Very nice store. Love the attention to detail. Wide aisles, clean and beautiful merchandising. I miss the days of a relaxing stroll through the aisles with music. Sadly there are no fortinos where i live.

I feel comfortable with the precautions they’ve taken due to Covid. I recently took advantage of the curbside pickup (PC Express,) and had a great experience with that as well- everyone that I dealt with was super nice

Decent grocery store. Keep an eye out for what you like when it's available, as items are available one week and then not the next. Selection isn't as good as other Fortinos in Burlington.

Standing in the express line a young fortinos employee comes over, asks me if I'm paying with debit/credit and when I say yes, she says she can help me checkout. I follow her and she leads me to the self checkout and proceeds to ask me if I've ever used self checkout before? I say yes of course she then motions me to use it. I ask her if she is going to check me out and she says no, I can use the self scanner. Livid, I tell her if I wanted to use the self checkout I would have obviously went there which I did not. And of course now I lost my place in the express line I was standing in costing me even more time. Of all the years I've grocery shopped I've never experienced such poor service and at the prices I pay at fortinos I am extremely disappointed they would treat their customers like idiots.

Lived in Hamilton for over a decade and this was the grocery store I came to the most. Their international aisle is pretty nice. Management has been friendly and accommodating on any occasion I've needed them. Some things are bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Dropped in 2 days ago, on foot, so only had room for a few items in my backpack, but lucked out buying a full pack each of red and green grapes, both on sale, at $1.99 lb, AND the best tasting grapes I've had in months! As usual, the store was well stocked and clean. I also picked up 10 of my favourite Chicken Wings, some hot chili, BBQ and honey garlic. Delicious!

This place should be CLOSED !!!!! I am in Instacart shopper and while I was doing an order there yesterday, ON MOTHERS DAY, I saw they had mice crawling around the store. DISGUSTING ! Never in my 23 years of living have I ever scene mice in a grocery store ! And as I said, I’m an Instacart shopper , so it’s literally my job to be in these places. Overall great location, clean, great staff. Love the meat department.... yes they cut and prepare their own meat! Makes it nice to get special cuts or extra fat(free) for cooking roasts. As other have mentioned the location is busy, parking lot is a little crazy. Prices are decent, more on the high side. Nice to have beer and wine on site now, one stop shop.

The ultimate shopping experience. Actually enjoy shopping here a ton. The prices are a bit steep, but I find a lot of products I wouldn't be able to find elsewhere & they occasionally have excellent sales. The bulk section for gourmet coffee beans smells so good, I have to get a bag every time I run out (about $12/pound). The in-house bakery's Black Forest cake is delicious, too. I can't recommend this place enough.

Quality products at expensive prices. Double what you would pay for the same product at no frills! Produce & meats/cheese, plants, ect are the highest quality,. Also a larger selection ,(you do get what you pay for) when it comes to the fresh items!! If you can shop at multiple grocery stores, then buy fresh at Fortinos and everything else at the no name store like no frills. My favourite grocery store for a one stop shop is fresh co. (they price match)!!

Well maintained with lots of selection. Good place to go for kosher goods. Meat and seafood sections carry a good variety of each. They have an olive bar which is a bonus. They have a good sized organic section which makes it easier to find what you need. They have a big flower department. This location also sells beer. The staff are eager to help and checkout has yet to take an exsessive amount of time even at peak times.

I am wheelchair-bound and blind. I need a lot of help when I try to shop and these employees at this particular store are extremely helpful and happy to do it most of the time. The only time I've had issues, management has more than made up for it to me. Fortinos may be a bit more expensive than the average grocery store, but the service and quality that I get here makes it very much worth it.

I rarely do reviews, but I feel that I need to review the PC express at this location. From the very first day we did a pick up here the staff has been amazing, going above and beyond to ensure that we are happy with our order. The produce is always top freshness, every time. They let me know if an item will be expiring soon, so that I can decide if I still want it. They are friendly to me and my kids. We are always sent off with a cute little themed goodie bag (Fal/Christmas/Halloween etc.) and a water if we want. Lucy stands and waves as we drive off, which makes me feel like I'm leaving my grandparents house after a Sunday dinner. LOL! Top notch service and extra time with my family. Thank you Sean and Fortinos Dundurn.

This location has less quality produce (ex lettuce is small) and the bakery is not anywhere near the quality of the Main West location, but the checkout staff are friendly and kind here, which almost makes up for the fresh vegetable selection most days. The parking lot is a terrible mess of an affair, bad to drive in, dangerous to cycle or walk through. Wide one way streets on two sides make it like entering and leaving a pit stop in a Nascar race.

Sickening experience at zfortios eastgate. While putting 2 grocery orders thru at the cash .1st order I paid with debit . As I put thru the 3nd order I realized my scarf was missing. 4 employees were standing around the self check with no customers at the machines. I asked if someone could help me find said scarf probably lying on an ailsle . No reaction. Iwalk to customer care and a thin long haired woman jumped me and wrestled my cart away from me. I am 75yrs old.sickened and traumatized that this out of control worker attacked me. Casheir came and politely told me the 2nd debit dis not go thru....Was this aggresion Really called for I will be taking legal advice re my civil rights. SHAME ON FORTINOS.

Such a huge store with so much variety, you'll always be able to find what you need. There's lots of space inside so you won't be forced to stabd close to anyone, and the checkout line is really well organized too. Even better, there's a pickup program where you can just order your food ahead of time and they'll pop everything in the trunk. Shopping has never been easier in such stressful times.

I went to pick up groceries for an elderly lady, the cashier forgot to put the grapes in one of my 3 bags of groceries plus 5 cases of lemon pop and 2 packages of toilet paper. On my way out, she reminded me to not forget all my grocery bags. Paid a total of $ 91.00 plus total. When i got to the place and we were unpacking, we found out that the grapes wasn't in the bags. I decided to go back as it cost $ 9.11 just for the grapes. The cashier is gone home, so i went to the customer service. Sorry, very poor customer service than what i used to. They were giving me the grapes, how about going back in forth on a snowy day in darkness ? ? ?

For a location this size, and they only have one public washroom for customers is completely unacceptable. To the employee who saw me waiting for the washroom after the senior had used it and failed to tell me you were going to clean the washroom, thank you very much. You could have waited for 1 minute while I used it I'm sure your supervisor would have understood that a customer needed to use.

This is a very old fortinos LOL but the location itself is beyond busy. Cars and people everywhere. Anyways they let so many people in store, idk if maybe they couldn’t control that many walking in? A clean grocery store with a good selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, lots of isles full of a vast quantities of a variety of products, including the newer organic section of refrigerated and shelved items. Deli section is adequate but nothing to rave about. Staff is helpful. Prices are at the higher end. Parking is at times a challenge even with the big parking lot. It feels like although the store is clean and organized (and has a pharmacy and fresh sushi bar, café and hot food to go) it seems kind of out dated, but not quite, as if it is due for a freshening up, a re-styling, some new paint, signage and decor to bring it in line with other Fortino's in town.

Worst store I've ever been to. I went there looking for apple cider, I spoke to SIX employees, one was the manager of the store, two employees didn't even know what it was.. This has to be the most disorganized grocery store I've have ever been to and the employees were completely clueless. If the owner ever reads this, you should hire people who can actually solve problems and not brainless people who just stock shelves. Never will I do business here, ever again.

I mostly go here to find different drinks. They just seem to have more variety in the international section than other places. Every day items are a little more expensive than other grocery stores but with more variety and selection, I think it’s worth it to just go here.
