My wife and I used Martin and Judy to recreate our front and rear yards in 2018 and we were very impressed with how well they both turned out! Honestly, we really didn't know "what" we wanted but knew we wanted something unique. Martin was able to help us come up with a playful and creative design that worked really well for us that we never would have thought of on our own. His knowledge about landscaping, shrubs, trees and design is vast and really helpful when planning a design. We always received friendly service and prompt responses to questions we had or changes we wanted to see made. It was a significant investment in our property which will certainly pay off when we are ready to sell, but also has added so much "living value" to the place we call home. We'd had other landscapers come up with designs in the past but they all seemed cookie-cutter and rigid, something we'd seen way too many times before. Martin's approach to design is very unique and intuitive, visually pleasing, while at the same time remaining practical. He never tried to oversell us on anything and we actually came in well under budget on our spend which allowed us to add a beautiful and functional patio in the rear we hadn't previously planned. The pocket landscapes we were given add so much life to our yards and have given us something to nurture and watch unfold as they develop. Urban Cottage Landscapes helped me transform my boring backyard consisting of grass and a 'barely there' perennial border into a true garden oasis....in just one day!! I had a 'partial vision' and Martin helped me bring it to life. I selected a range of evergreen and deciduous shrubs and ornamental trees from one of the area's premier nurseries that UCL deals with, and we placed them along a newly created small path leading to a seating area. We did soft-scaping only using mulch, but the design lends itself to future enhancements if I decide. Budget was a priority for me and the cost of the entire job (with me pitching in, but UCL doing the heavy lifting) was extremely reasonable, even more so when considering the many years of expert knowledge and experience that UCL brings to their work. I gained a new appreciation for the importance of roots systems and have continued to increase my gardening know-how. I highly recommend Urban Cottage Landscapes if you want a magazine-worthy garden but are hesitating to take the plunge!
