Louis Martin will initially appear friendly and reputable - THIS IS A RUSE. He employs many unskilled workers, and continuously yells at them... Basically you can expect repeated excuses for why no work is ever getting done on your project, and when it does, expect poor results. I have 20+ images of horrible finishes, but the rock with a drilled hole really took the cake!

Owner, L. MARTIN is horrible to deal with. He will tell you what you want to hear but will lie and short ya on your order. Only thing that was pleasant was the nice young man Corey who delivered the soil and rock I ordered. He was polite and professional. Too bad the owner wasn't. I often do not care to write reviews (positive or negative). With that said, we had service scheduled from this company, and the business regularly did not show up (with numerous reasons). We were overcharged for both product and services, which were ultimately not provided. Similar reviews are also given on Yelp, and further research into this business would have shown me this before engaging with this business - please read these reviews. I do not doubt that Louis Martin has great workers within the company; however, I would be VERY wary of engaging with this company because any issues with services will be met with contention.

I made the mistake of not paying attention to the reviews before I went. I only went there because I was driving by and it was convenient. I got a yard of mulch in the back of my truck. I get a yard every year from another place, and this was about half as much as I usually get. The reviews are correct. You will not get what you pay for. Stay away!!!

I went there to buy top soil ,picked up their flyer and asked for the advertised special in the flyer. Was told that the price has changed since last weekend from $135 to $145 . When it came to paying i was charged $169 (supposedly the taxes on $145 ). I pointed out that this was not accurate as the HST is 13% and not 16.65%. They could not explain the difference and I had to pay what they asked. When it was delivered I noticed that the quantity was less than what I was charged for and went back waited for the Owner as I was told. He came ,rolled down the window of his truck to tell me " We do not cheat ,I have to go..." and drove away. There were unusual amount of stones in the delivered "top" soil.

I got screwed!!! I placed an order for my customer for 5 yards of mulch. When I arrived at the worksite there was not 5 yards. I use a different place usually but martins was close to worksite. I got screwed and had to order more from my usual place. don't waist your time here. you will get screwed.

We looked around kingston for someone to help us with our backyard patio and L. Martin’s Price was definitely the most competitive - You will not find anything cheaper at this quality. He uses high quality stone and has a really good team working to install. They did a phenomenal job as you can see in the images. The only thing to keep in mind is he gets very busy and takes on too much work and might delay your expected timing. of completion Took a while to get him started but once he started, things went well. After his team completed the install, we realized that there were things we wanted to change. L. Matin took it upon himself to make the changes until we were 100% satisfied with the job and did not charge us any extra. His quality of work is great and we have been loving our backyard! We will be using his services again this year to do more work in our front yard. Highly Recommend if you are in the area!

We ordered gravels from L. Martin Garden Centre (Louis is the owner) and short changed quite a bit. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO HIS PERSON FOR BUSINESS. I RATHER PAY MORE THAN GOING BACK TO THE STORE. NEVER AGAIN! He keeps on claiming he is an honest person and has over 16,000 satisfied customers. He may have done a decent jobs for some but many reviews has confirmed he is a dishonest businessman. His manager (Rick) is very nice on the phone but Louis keep on scolding Rick (could have anger issue) over the phone. Louis always start of well until people start to point out his shady business dealings. The dissatisfied customers should group together and spread the words around Kingston and surrounding. Please use social media to let other be aware of it. We are sure he will fight back and say we are a competitor. Use your own judgment and look at his fabulous negative reviews! Would give zero stars if we can. When one is in business, should be honest, which we cannot find any of those quality in Louis Martin.

Stopped by the Taylor-Kidd location today to grab some mulch for the garden. I could not have asked for any better service, they asked what I needed, showed me where to pull up and loaded it all up for me. You can't beat the price either. I will definitely be back for all my gardening needs, definitely glad I decided to check these guys out.

I was introduced to L Martin's garden center today for the first time. I was greeted the minute I stepped out of my car. The staff was so friendly and knowledgable about their vast display of stone and garden supplies. Wow, what a selection. I picked out everything I needed (for today anyway) . Easy transaction too! Within a couple of hours, my order is delivered and on my driveway.. I am soooo impressed. I'll be going back for sure. I'm wishing I had more property so I could incorporate some more of the very beautiful stones.

We recently had Mr. Martin's crew remove our old front sidewalk slabs and replace them with smaller paving stones in a curved design. People who have seen the new front walk area are impressed. We were amazed at the amount of materials and equipment involved in the process: an excavator to remove soil to a depth at least 10"; a small front end loader to drop fine gravel and sand as a base for the pavers; a mechanical tamper to compress the gravel and sand base; a truck to deliver the new pavers; a stone saw to cut stones to form a curve inside the metal restraining wall; and another truck and trailer to haul away the machinery. Finally, they installed polymeric jointing sand between the stone pavers to anchor them. The crew had everything done and the site cleaned up in less than four hours. Advice: Draw up exactly what you want done, e.g. the design of the installation, dimensions, color etc. to save time and prevent any misunderstandings. Be there in case workers have any questions.

Ordered 10 yards of soil. Only got 6. Soil went into raised bed gardens, so it’s real easy to measure. Company won’t come good for the missing soil. Ordered 4 additional yards from Pyke Farms, and they brought about 5.5 yards. Don’t bother with these clowns and just go with Pykes.

I just got my first delivery. It will not be my last. As a rural customer I believed my local company would be cheaper but I was very wrong. Hard to believe these guys charge the same delivery as the local business right here in Sydenham. When you add the fact their delivery was much faster and the customer service outstanding it would crazy not to switch. Not only have they gained a customer, but I will be spreading the word. Very nice soil, I will be busy for the next few days, weather permitting :)

Plenty of good reviews so I'm sure most have a positive experience, but... Call ahead!! Arrived to a sign saying "back in 10mins"...I left after 25 mins. They did however follow up with an explanation and Ill certainly be back in the spring.

**Update** 1 day after leaving this very honest review from dealings with this company below for others to be careful of doing any business with this company- a man stormed into a busy hair salon I had left a past review for demanding to find me due to a bad google review. This is beyond creepy & most definitely is not what a normal adult let alone business man’s behavior should be!! Not impressed with their products & services- the owner is not very pleasant or helpful at all!! Will never buy from here for anything. Luckily I found Marshall’s Garden Centers staff, services & products to be much better quality.

Earlier this week I picked up at the Taylor Kidd location, 5 bags of '3cf' black mulch for $30 as advertised in their flyer. When I got home I realized that it was only 2cf of mulch/bag. A few days later I was driving by that location & stopped by to inform the friendly sales associate that the bag was only 2cf and not 3 cf as advertised in their flyer. He referred me to the owner L Martin who happened to come by the same time. When I notified L Martin, he looked me in the eye and said 'so, its a printing mistake'. Although I was surprised by that response, I did not think much of what he said then. Yesterday I called their office reg delivery of 1 cu yard of mulch & the lady informed me that it would be $50 + $30 delivery charge. Today when I called to make arrangements for delivery, the owner L Martin answered the phone & informed me the total price would be $50 + $40 for delivery. When I informed him that his staff gave me a $30 delivery charge yesterday, his response ' fuel prices increased today'. I am a qualified professional and fully aware of commodity incl fuel prices I will let you decide as to the business practices of this company & definitely do not intend to shop there again esp if the owner deals with customer like this!

DO NOT HIRE LOUIS MARTIN! He is a complete nightmare to work with. Constantly making false promises. He says what you want to hear but does not follow through. We have a hole in our patio because he refuses to come and fix. Every day he tells us he will come and he just doesn't show up. I've never come across a "business man" like this. Quite honestly I'm shocked that he's still in business. Sure, buy topsoil from him, but do not hire him to do any work on your property. We are now having to pay another company to fix his job. See you in court Louis!
