This place is a fantastic pick-me-up and a great place for all your gardening needs. Flowers, plants, and herbs add vibrant pops of color that elevate your mood throughout the retail space. Earthy smells and aromatic fragrances waft around the location. Stanley is a walking encyclopedia of what will grow best in the conditions at your home and can recommend mixes that will bloom into the garden/landscape that you envisioned. I do wish that there was more emphasis on Missouri natives. A section focused on them would be beneficial to Saint James neighborhoods for years to come. Tell 'em #LauraSentMe

I have to apologize for the previous reviewers experience. I work for Stanley and understand that it might just have taken 15 minutes to get help there but there is a reasonable explanation to that experience. You see, Stanley had four employees, two full time and two part time and one of them ended up in the hospital I believe right before you made your visit due to previous health problems. This employee usually stays up front and greets all the guest as they come through the door and answers questions and helps with them finding the right products while the others are usually either helping with other guest or tending to the plants. As far as your comment about the plants being there for ten years or so I have to say you really didn't see any plants there that were over 2 years and 90% of them were less than a year old except for maybe the giant elephant ears and the angel trumpets which I believe have been around since Stanley opened 43 years ago and says a lot about his knowledge and how well he takes care of his product. Some of the poor looking plants looked like that due to an infestation of Japanese beetles which for the most part are gone now and the plants are recovering well and starting to look wonderful again. I don't know what your experience with Stanley was but I have to say he does know what he's talking about and I've learned a lot from him. Please don't let this experience ruin a good place to shop for you. I hope you will give us another chance.
