Fun place to get beautiful Christmas Tree????
Super healthy plants and koi!
We arrived right at closing time but staff was very gracious and helpful. They directed us to what we were looking for, allowed us to take our time making selections when they could easily have asked us to return another time. Beautiful plants, fair prices.
I was informed that this is their senior manager, who has worked hard to climb the ladder for 17 years
So pretty and cute loved shopping here also loved the cat pepper. Staff were very helpful with helping me out finding rocks! I searched 4 stores and couldn't find what I needed thankfully this store had it!! So happy I came here.
Very good shopping experience.
EXTREMELY. Expensive. Sage greenhouse has smaller selection but a top quality products at a much lower price
My mother and I went here in search of Hoyas. We came across some in the greenhouse, but noticed right away that they were labelled as the wrong type. The plant was labelled as a Hindu Rope hoya, but we know that they were Crimson Princess, as the two hoya species have very different leaves. When we tried to tell the two greenhouse staff (the first one told us she didn't work in houseplants and took us to the second staff) neither one of them cared at all. We basically got a shoulder shrug and a look that said "what do you want me to do". The biggest problem with this is that they were selling the plant as a Hindu rope for $29.99 when a Crimson Princess is normally sold for less (at least in my experience buying Hoyas). The only positive part was the wonderful lady at the front till, she was a pleasure to talk to.
I was extremely disappointed an St Mary's Nursery 's Covid-19 policy. My 9 year old daughter was not allowed in the store to pick out plants for her garden as children under 16 are not allowed entry. She is perfectly capable of following the rules and staying away from other shoppers. Luckily St. Mary's competitors up the block have much more reasonable policies. We will never shop at St. Mary's again.
Neat place. Lots of variety of items. A little chaotic right now because they're under construction. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Our kids love it here, the cats, the fish, and the horse carriage in winter
I had a very negative experience at St. Mary's Nursery. I attended, found a plant I wanted to buy from the greenhouse. It didn't have a price tag, but I wasn't deterred, I found a pot (rather expensive) that fit and was prepared to buy both. I went to the till. When I asked to get the plant price checked, I was told that it normally came in a pot. That the price for the whole thing was $60. I asked what pot it came in, they couldn't tell me. It must have been moved by someone and taken out of the pot. I asked if they could sell it to me anyway, and what price it would be. They said no. I had to pay $60 for it. I asked if they could get me the pot it came in if I was going to pay $60. They said no. They wanted me to pay $60 just for the plant. The poor girl at the till was just telling me what her supervisor said. So I asked to speak to that person directly. The lady that came out from the back was aggressive, rude and refused to sell me the items. I was most taken aback by her attitude. I had been nothing but polite, if very confused about this policy. I was prepared to buy the plant for whatever it was worth and the other pot I found and the cost I estimated would have been around $50 anyway. Nope. Had to pay $60 just for the plant and non existing mysterious pot it "was supposed to come in". Ridiculous. I won't be shopping there again.
Bought a hibiscus bush last week and it has slowly been dying all week due to bugs. Called the greenhouse and their return policy is one day! Terrible customer service. I payed $60 and thought maybe it just needed some water and sun and would perk up so I waited. I will never shop here again. They should stand behind their products.
Beautiful shop to look at. Very Expensive for my pocke.
Very exciting that the outdoor plants are starting to be put out.
People write reviews, because the expectation of service and store experience. Both were sub par to say the least! I was shopping November 15, and inquired about fresh trees. I was advised you can leave name, number and will be notified. As well as you were NOT able to choose your tree. That she was adamant. The last few weeks I have tried calling to inquire status..No one answers phone. I called today and inquired. Apparently trees have been available for 3 to 4 weeks, yet I received no phone call. The associate said my name not on list. Disappointed since the owner took my information.. I took my business to Lacoste, where they were more than willing to assist with my tree needs. Decor, service, outstanding!! Oh I was able to choose my tree too!
Great staff. Nice selection even now of indoor plants. Great selection of indoor and outdoor signs, plastic/ceramic animals and displays. Bird feeders and much more.
Just so rude on the phone the guy was and then took 10min to get back to me
Love this place!!! Its so peaceful
Great products and great service.
WELL done with the Christmas displays as well as Very friendly staff awesome place
They have a really large and fun gift shop. Lots of great plants to offer.
Beautiful place but you need more than 1 trip to see everything! Excellent selection and there really is something for everyone !
Love going here to browse
I met with a landscaper about a month ago and was given suggestions of shrubs for my back yard. Today my husband and I went to buy the shrubs. Never having done this before I went to the landscapers office and asked a young lady for help. It appeared I was a bother and begrudgingly took us outside to find someone to help us. I provided her with the St Mary’s list of shrubs highlighted in yellow and the amount I needed. In spite of this information, she appeared to remain annoyed but luckily we came across a young man who could help us. He was very helpful, found us what we were looking for but all the while kept getting calls from the desk: ‘You need to do this and that’. At least 4 times we were interrupted while he was helping us. This person was very demanding He was very polite to the person calling but it seemed he didn’t feel comfortable letting this person know he was helping a customer In the end he helped us load up our shrubs; ~ $350. It was a really looking forward to getting these shrubs to spruce up our yard. What a real disappointment. I will never go back.
Great place to shop. Staff are very helpful. There is so much to see. Will go back to do more shopping.
I absolutely love this place. Always lots of great items and very very good, pleasant staff. They always have what I'm looking for!
Knowledgeable staff go out of their way to help out, great variety of plants and lawn and house decor
Great selection of outdoor/indoor plants, also love the cats the roam around!
Not good, not good at all. Prices are way out to lunch & with the subpar quality you would think that they would price accordingly. They do not guarantee any of their plants aside from a brief period of time allotted to shrubs & trees. Honestly, they have tons of garden wares & interior/exterior finishing pieces that are unique, even clothing (not sure why in a garden center, but hey ;) your money could be better spent elsewhere. Even Home Depot guarantees for the season on their annuals & a FULL YEAR GUARANTEE on their perennials! (Bishop Grandin location) Save yourself some gas money & time, don't bother with St Mary's!
Friendly staff, good prices, lots of plants selection
Nice place to spend a few hours, selection is good. Really enjoy the kitchen section, premium products with reasonable price on many things.
This is my wonderland..my paradise of flowers , lots of time and money spent here worth every penny..
Always have a nice selection of plants and decor, not cheap.
This is the place to go for Christmas supplies in winter!
One of my favourite nurseries. Good selection of plants, helpful staff and garden accessories that are unique. We bought our 5 foot chain saw carved bear there.
Great boutique there!!
Our first time , and more then we had expected. We'll be back
Wasn't allowed to bring my child that I was carrying in my arms into an OUTSIDE garden centre. I will NEVER be back. Completely ridiculous.
Lots to see and buy
Hi, do you guys have plant saplings in this time of year?
Great service, quality plants every year; awesome Christmas display n services, a must see for the whole family; Carla n her team have taken it up a level for Winnipeg!
Beautiful place, lots of choice but expensive.
Great store but disappointed with the customer service.
Great selection and variety. Prices are pretty steep though on regular merchandise but it is a specialty store. Plants are priced at what you would expect from a nursery.
Love this place
Edited to add. It's a year later and 2 of my hydrangeas and one hosta didn't come back after winter. I called to see what had to be done. Even though we're in the middle of a very serious pandemic, no curbside pickup is available at St. Mary's, which astounds me. Also, my hosta isn't covered and to add insult to injury, their prices have gone up on the hydrangeas and they expect me to pay the price difference. What a joke! Find somewhere else to get your plants, I know I will. Sage Nursery down the street is a far better choice. I purchased plants over the phone this past week due to covid and having a very young infant at home. When my landscaper showed up at my home with my plants I was very disappointed. They were SO puny. The hydrangeas, which cost $35.00 each, are SO small and have all been cut back to almost nothing. I feel like I’ve been ripped off. My sister just bought a hydrangea plant from Sage Nursery down the street for less money and it’s huge and beautiful.
I love to go to St Mary's Nursery people are cheery, so many cool unique plants. If you don't know how to care for them the staff are helpful. I also get lost in the huge selection of women apparel and accessories. Wow this place makes me happy.
Lots of Christmas items to choose from and the store is beautifully decorated. We bought an outside arrangement for the front step with pine bows & pine cones and added a few personal touches. We love it.
They openly discriminate against people with disabilities.
Quite a large place with lots of items, so allow sufficient time. The service was ok.
Some of the staff people are really nice...
Unfriendly staff, made me and a friend to feel very unwelcome. Plants were sort of worse-for-wear, unorganized, all over the place. Nice gift shop, but I was there for plants and had a bad experience is all. Considering lacoste is right next store and had nicer stuff, nicer employees... I dunno. St Marys wouldn't be my first choice now.
Amazing prices! Thank you! Been a favourite store since I was very very small! My mother and I loved the apple cider and christmas decor at this shop!
I've previously had really lovely experiences here, but more recently I've found the staff are dis-interested in customers, some even ignore you. The tiny bathroom has somehow gotten worse than it already was. As a public space, especially down a road where there are not other businesses that your patrons can go to, having a decent restroom should be a priority. They still have a beautiful selection of plants and flowers, although I've noticed their succulent selection has dropped off and is very limited now for whatever reason. It's still the best nursery and garden centre in Winnipeg, and I will definitely still be going back, but I'd really love to see some improvements, especially with the prices of their merchandise and plants.
We've been waiting now for half an hour for christmas tree to be brought to our car. We arrived on time, called in as instructed. Guy has showed up after 15-20 minutes saying that there need to be some paperwork done. Very, very frustrated, will never buy here again.
I do not recommend St. Mary’s Garden Centre at all and I will never shop there again!! I expected that when I go to a place that seems of quality that I would get quality products and quality service. You will not get that here. I bought numerous plants from here and some did not even survive 2 days even though all that I bought were treated the same. I was hoping to exchange but they would not let me. I will go to a different business where they treat their customers better. Waste of my time and money!! Will never shop here again!!
1 star because it looks very nice, but no one has any knowledge on anything. maybe hiring people who have knowledge on anything to do with plants and gardening might be helpful???? no one knew anything about the plants i was looking for nor where to find the items i needed....from now on Lacoste is my go to!
this would probably be the only nursery where I'd want to go to shop for seedlings and things like that grafting is all the rage if you ask me if you're kind of like on a layaway from not wanting to work at an MLM or something like that but I still adore things like SolarCity and finalizing's good for me because that's a derivative of my name ruku and ruker insurance is good if you want to get around in high prairie and stuff like that trying to think of other tips going out with the sisters of St Joseph from St Mary's St Michael's probably always good for them through the iaf otherwise my love to you guys for contemporary English translation of the Bible and white mouth with George debarr and Mike Gavin seen from always with the Marines nowaday abenenstein since his love big love from the summerfelds and other good people I think we're still doing things with the best we can do with like the Millers the ends white moth River hills seven sisters falls same as usual pine falls pine dock classic confrontation doing what we can have a nice day got to go if you want to reinforce Saskatoon that would be a good idea Montreal is always fun but time to get back to work Chloe where you going now just kidding I guess she's an ex-girlfriend or something like that offered me dual income in a hard spot but I was only engaged once and I was too girl to know that I'm the Lord's and I don't want to talk about it love you guys lots I prefer Gideons and contemporary English and things like holy water on Edmonton Michael married to Filipino so I have things to do do the best you can with what you have pretty Monahan might or mayor may or may not be my son from Victoria hospital I'm still born in Edmonton so it's my sister Kimmy I don't know if you can ever help us out but like do what you canalso if you want to be with other people like this isn't coming up properly it's sucked
I love to go to St Mary's Nursery people are cheery, so many cool unique plants. If you don't know how to care for them the staff are helpful. I also get lost in the huge selection of women apparel and accessories. Wow this place makes me happy.
I love St.Mary's Nursery but this is the second time I have gone there to find wrong hours or errors in events. Drove there tonight, online shows they are open 9AM-9PM, they closed at 4PM today. Last time I gathered my grandkids up to check out Christmas Family Day, to find a sign by the cash out that they had the day wrong in the brochure they mail and it was the next weekend. Ready to give up on them.
Beautiful place , very festive and cozy feeling. If you like this time of the year , find time to visit .Staff is very helpful and friendly .
St. Mary's Nursery is your one stop shop for anything you are looking for plant or tree or any kind of gardening need. Their Christmas selection is also outstanding in case you need that last minute ornament or gift idea! The staff is also very friendly and there to help!
OMG... If you have not been to the St.Mary's Nursery and Garden lately, you are in for a wonderful surprise. It is a winter wonderland, Christmas ready. Well done, St. Mary's Nursery.
We always enjoy going to St Mary's Nursery. They offer a great collection of womens clothing and accessories, plants and a whole lot more. We will go to the store and enjoy the ambience with out making a purchase . To not visit St Mary's is to miss out on a great Winnipeg experience.
Beautiful place around Christmas Time
This place is amazing! It 's a one stop garden centre that has everything from roper boots to giftware, exquisite fashions, food items, and of course a variety of trees, flowers, plants, pots and much much more. I can hardly wait until November 12 when apparently Christmas displays will be complete and my favourite place to get all my gifts. I walked in the store last November and felt like I landed in a Christmas wonderland. It put me in the spirit so if I ever need a pick me up from a hard day at work this is the place to go - it lifts your spirit. The staff are really knowledgeable and great too - always with a smile and greet you as you come into the store. Its like being part of a big happy family and you can tell they love what they do and customers are at the core of this.
This place is so charming during the holiday season. They have many great finds here for both decor as well as apparel. I love the Grinch collection they brought in this year, and purchased many items for my son’s Christmas tree. They offer tea and popcorn while you shop, which, although I didn’t partake, I appreciated the gesture. I also did some googling, and price-compared the clothing, and their prices are on point! Sometimes places will do heavy markups, but they didn’t at all. Definitely able to shop with confidence that you are getting a fair price. I will warn people with allergies, that there are cats and these cats like to hang out on the clothing tables. This isn’t an issue for most I assume, and likely a good thing to keep mice away... but worth mentioning as I’m an allergy sufferer and would appreciate the heads up roles reversed.
this place is overcrowded w/ items and is very unorganized. i dont recommend coming here
I ordered over the phone. Took forever for staff to find what I wanted but finally did. They wanted the credit card details but weren't able to give me the total. I checked my account later and it was...a lot. When I got there to pick up there was confusion about the pickup spot. Then I had to load it myself including the burst soil bag which they couldn't replace...nothing to secure it for the trip. All that would have been acceptable except two out of three plants have died, with the third on life support. You couldn't pay me enough to return. The chain stores are better.
Is lots of stuff just too expensive and I'm not talking about the plant
I was in yesterday and bought a gorgeous sweater (can wear 2 ways), a Christmas mantle decoration (all glitter of course) and some amazing smelling honey shampoo (yes they have clothing, accessories and more!) An amazing lady works there! Bubbly, super helpful, very knowledgeable. She always makes me feel like I have a personal assistant and is genuinely excited about the product in the store. The store itself is absolutely gorgeous, my favorite in the province, all year round. It is especially gorgeous at Christmastime. A must see of themed trees, holiday items for every room, a true winter wonderland. The work and time and care put into creating this magical space is astounding! Kudos to the man decorating all those gorgeous trees! Great staff, beautiful selection. 5 stars plus, plus, plus.
Fast Friendly and very knowledgeable. Cant wait to get planting!
Great place! A bit pricy, but overall lovely greenery
Really neat place and I love coming here usually. I was not happy today since I came to find 6 packs of bedding plants. There were tons that only had 3 or 4 plants and the other 2-3 cells were empty.
Great place for plants and support
My friend/coworker and I find greenhouse shopping and especially succulent shopping a usually nice self care activity. On both occasions to St. Marys we took took note of the lack of helpful and rather abrupt staff. We didnt feel a welcoming energy within the store. We were not asked if we needed help. Our ceramic pots were not wrapped, we had to ask for a box for the plants (keeping in mind we spent a couple hundred dollars.) It was urgent to use the restroom and was denied due to Covid regulations, however the greenhouse down the road had a restroom available. There is a large over crowded, disjointed and heavly scented giftshop. The selection for flowers, vegetables and plants vary in health and are quite disorganized. It is also noted it is more pricey in both the giftshop and plant area than other comparable greenhouses Personally my friend and find Lacoste which is right next door a better greenhouse experience. It has a more local/unique and focused giftshop. The staff engage while shopping and are helpful. St.Marys wouldn't be my first choice now.
Awesome selection - even have dinosaurs!!
Love this place, they have great things and a large selection of plants
Horrible. Needed to ask some questions, nobody's around. Alot of items don't have prices listed. Extremely slow service. Parking lot is ridiculous, holes everywhere. Hours are different then whats online. Poorly run establishment. Would not recommend.
Good
Love the selection of garden art.The gift and clothing also are unique. Prices are comparible to other nurseries that sell plants and gift items in Winnipeg. Plant selection is okay and everything I have purchased has been healthy and transplant well.
A wonderful place do many unique home and garden decorations and of course a large selections of beautiful plants. Staff was friendly and very helpful!
Too expensive compared to home depot. Returning a dead plant is a hassle even though within the warranty period. Im never gonna come back again on this store.
Very beautiful winter and Xmas displays
Lots of variety staff very helpful
Great service and design of landscape project
Christmas HQ! I didn't expect the Christmas wonderland at St. Mary's Nursery. Skip the malls and go here for your Christmas decoration needs.
Called a few times for an inquiry. I had received very little information. Was told that someone from the department will call me back and never did. A few times the woman answered the phone was rude. I will not be giving them my business anymore. Terrible service.
St Mary's Nursery is the only place I shop for gardening supplies because the people there are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They also have a great selection of gift items and fashion.
The modest exterior belies a large gift store in front of the actual garden store, filled with lots of things no one really needs but seem to want anyway.
A great place to go when you need an educated opinion, every person I spoke with was knowledgeable and friendly. My wife loved the gift shop! We were able to find everything we were looking for from an assortment of plants to every herb I needed for my herb garden. Fantastic experience.
Loved our pre Christmas shopping experience here . The staff is very friendly and energetic. The overall vibes in this place is festive with lot of holiday and home decor.
We bought a selection of trees and shrubs last spring and one of the shrubs appeared to be dead this spring. Everything else we had purchased is currently thriving. We decided to call ahead to get some advice before heading down to the centre (given the pandemic) and we were advised to bring in the plant and exchange it - the person on the phone had all the details (i.e. when the plant was bought and how long it was in the ground, etc). We were directed to bring the plant to someone in the outdoor area for the exchange. When we arrived we were met with a curt greeting and the comment that it is too early to be "ripping plants out of the ground" and the insinuation that we had killed our plant by bringing it in. Stunned, we made our way to front to complete the exchange, where the attitude was very different. We were reassured by this employee and they processed the exchange without any hesitation which made up for the unpleasant experience outside.
Always a great time. Kids love the weekend activities. Lots of product to choose from and an amazing selection of Christmas trees and seasonal stuff already!
