I love shopping here, it's my neighbourhood grocery store and I will continue to shop here I've never had a bad experience until this evening when I unfortunately had to urgently had to use the bathroom The door was wide open and I did not notice the sign on it saying so not use Again, not even noticing it and figuring if the door was wide open it must be available But there was one apparently new employee that came pounding down the door saying I can't be in there, It was embarrassing to have to tell from the toilet to say I was sorry and I would just need one moment He continued to pound on the door to tell me o couldn't be in there Anyway long story short I unlocked the door said I was sorry, explained that I never noticed the sign He was yelling at me saying how could I not know or couldn't read the sign over and over I closed the door and washed my hands I went to the customer service counter where everyone was so lovely and explained my situation and asked to speak with the store manager She was very nice but let me know that they were asking their employees to go next door to the liquor store to use the bathroom Either way, It was urgent and how was I to know that Regardless that's not her or anyone else's fault but it's about how TERRIBLY this man treated and HOW EMBARRASSING it was! He shouldn't work with the public This was at around 5:30 on Saturday the 18th he was wearing a blue jacket and vest, I've never been treated poorly there until yesterday And I had to say something because I won't rest until I do Thanks for listening I will be back, but that guy needs to go

The chicken here is cheaper than the chicken at Sobeys in Calgary for Boneless skinless chicken thighs. The wing deals here are also very good. Very clean store, everything well laid out. Is my go to grocer in Fort McMurray, have been to multiple save on foods, Safeway and sobeys, this is my go to out of all of them.

This is one of the top 3 grocers in the city (other 2 being Safeway and Sobeys in thick wood), the produce is always fresh with a decent enough selection, they try to pack the store with as many bulk offers as possible so you don't always need to go to superstore, the sales are frequent and worthwhile. And the staff here are always looking to help you unlike other stores where they run away... The hours of operation are unrivalled and are perfect

Only giveing 4 because the last few days I havent been able to get bread the home made stuff on the shelf that you can get sliced to your liking theres never any there and the last time I asked one of the girls to help me cause I dont know how to use the machine she told me to do it myself so I stood there staring at her and told her that I'll end up cutting off my hand that I need help she rolled her eyes and came out to help still had to bag it myself and take it out of the machine. Deff didnt ring the bell on my way out this time. Update: still cant get bread and can never get a salad anymore everytime I gose there now empty empty empty and the last thim it was really bad. Nothing on the shelfs but the salads is what drives me insane. Please fix these issues so I can put 5 stars. Update your now down for one everytime I can't get anything no more empty shelfs every ware

I shop there every week due to convenience but really if there was another choice close I wouldn't. To start with the parking lot is a muddy slop hole summer or winter. The workers are all people with poor skills and poor use of the english language. The shelves are always poorly stocked. The management is to blame for this as they hire the staff and order the goods. Today the item I couldn't get was bottled water, not a single bottle of water in the entire store! I drove to another grocery store in a different area of town and bought my water there.

I went to that store today and was very disappointed. There was a customer with a dog running around. This dog was not on a leash and was definitely not a service animal. I'm a allergic to animal dander so it was a big deal. I was so surprise. I called the store but the lady who answered the phone seems unaware what allergies are; she did confirm however that there is a policy in place allowing only service dogs. I spoke to the supervisor later and she apologize. I love dogs but they should not be running around a grocery unleashed.

I am a frequent visitor of Michelle's Independent. I am usually in late at night and I don't have a problem getting the items I need. I've noticed the hot foods counter no longer discounts the items at 9:00pm and this is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Nobody should have to pay full price for chicken that has been in the warmer for over an hour.

This is going to be a sad review from a customer who comes here every week and spend hundreds of groceries a week. Today, I had this cashier who I think don’t give a care in the world about the customer as long as she scan the products and got the money. I think she don’t know how to say hi or hello, did not bagged my dish washing liquid, cleaning products separately. I’m only asking for a cheap clear plastic bag here for food safety purposes specially I have to put them in the same grocery bag with the rest of the groceries. I paid almost 300 today and I feel like I had to hurry bagging my groceries because the next customer is waiting and standing there for me to get all my groceries off the belt.. The tall skinny long hair cashier didn’t even bother offering help to bag the groceries, instead she just stood there looking at the other cashier..so, there is your customer service lady!!

When this store was Extra foods I used to shop there all the time for everything it used to be great prices... since they switched over to independent I only go there if I am in a pinch I have only gone a handful of times as they have doubled most of their prices, yes it looks very nice but its not worth it when I could go to any other grocery store in town and get the same products cheaper, save on used to be the store I would avoid because of it's prices but it's now my go to because independent didn't care enough about keeping their customers as much as they do about ripping them off.

I'm just rating specifically on the Deli, the rest of the store is 4-5 star. I had to repeat my order 5 times yesterday to the woman there (literally 100g of roast beef and 14 slices of turkey.. thats it ) and even after that, all of it was completely wrong. Figured if i asked for it to be changed it would have been even more wrong so i left it. Disappointed.

With cheap prices comes cheap products. Do not buy meat or produce from here, though it does have a decent environment & you might be able to find some deals here- everything I've bought that was parishable usually rotted before I could even use them. Sometimes I'd notice when I'm unpacking that I missed mold on some produce or bread. With that being said you really gotta search for the one with the least mold on it.. you might get lucky.

One of the best grocery stores in the town. Big size. All vegetables and fruits are very fresh and good quality. Expensive than superstore but worth spending little bit extra. You can find almost everything here. Pharmacy section also good. Wide variety of Dells. Bakery, meats, fish, dairy products. Flowers selection is very good. Good customer service. Very neat and clean. Open until 11pm. Parking lot is big with lots of parking spots including para parking. There are other facilities and stores in walking distance. Store is by one of the major road Confedaration way.

Renovations from Extra Foods into Michelle's YIG yielded far higher prices overall and a store full of unnecessary gimmicks. They still can't keep basics like ground poultry in stock. Self-checkouts are absolutely awful as their bag scales are infuriatingly small. There's little reason to choose YIG over the Stoneycreek Save-On Foods which is now on-par for pricing and superior in every other way.

Pretty good as usual, but my points did not process for my transaction, which makes the 3rd time in recent months. The other thing is, Save On Foods has free pick up for on-line shopping and this store charges for it...it would be nice if they could be more competitive with this.

Prices are pretty high. Staff at customer service spend more time chatting with each other than interacting with customers You have to interrupt their chatting if you have a question. They don't allow for social distancing either. They have 2 customers at a time. Side by side and less than a foot apart.

I shop there since I live so close but ya since they changed names it has got more expensive plus they don’t carry some of the products that Extra Foods always had . I don’t know y the customers have to pay for their renovations we never asked for it . Michelle’s you should seriously think about dropping your prices ! July 21 - 2018 - the place was leaking everywhere. Some sections of the store closed off due to the aisle being filled with buckets to catch the water. Lots of drops getting on produce and other groceries. Besides that, I live almost equal distance from this store and it's sister store "real Canadian superstore". They are both loblaws businesses but Independent marks up their costs by no less than 25% on everything (up to 100% more on some items), even their own presidents choice brand. You can get all of the same groceries at superstore for much cheaper.

After going to 4 grocery stores looking for a beef tenderloin we finally found one here. It was too big for what we needed so we asked them to cut it in half and they refused because the cutting boards were already cleaned. I began to explain my frustration as we were all over town looking, but still couldn’t get him to budge. I cannot even begin to explain the level of laziness as we were there 2 hours before closing. I have worked in a meat department myself, and I have never refused to cut a piece of meat because the cutting boards were already sanitized. Most definitely will not be returning here..
