Absolutely horrible service by Maddison. I was a server before so I don’t like to complain and empathize on how difficult it can be to work with the general public but I cannot accept this. I’ve taken clients to Earls for many years but am almost debating changing it up. I had to track down the waitress after waiting for 20min to order. When she did come, she apologized and said she was busy - there was 5 people in the restaurant and then she sat down for half the time I was there. I ordered the Steak Frites- she asked me if I was okay with dynamite rolls… really??. When I said it comes with fries she said she didn’t know. I also had to get up and tell her the temp I wanted it because she didn’t ask. On top of that, I wondered why it was so spicy, especially when it comes with garlic confit. There was a $3.00 charge for blackening spice which I did not ask for. When I asked her about it, she said that is how it comes and the $3.00 is the cost for seasoning. I’ve ordered this before and NO, that is not how it comes. If I wanted blackened, maybe (still a stretch) But I didnt, and I don’t think it’s fair to charge an additional 3.00 for something I didn’t want on an already $30 steak. She was very condescending and I had to politely argue with her which goes against everything I stand for doing at a restaurant, this was just incompetent behavior and a lack of common sense. To add to it, there were a few other mistakes that I didn’t even bring up because it wasn’t worth it but I’m regretting not saying something now. Extremely frustrating, I simply told her these things and was met with combative answers, excuses and a complete lack of ownership. That is not what I consider a pleasant dining experience and can expect better service at a 2 star restaurant let alone this one.
