Truck battery died and the staff were great. Ended up needing the supervisor to come over and give us a boost. She was great and it all worked out in the end. Enjoyed the park. Fresh air and quiet. Only complaint is with the seasonal campers. They were problematic, they seem to think they own the park and treat it accordingly. It is a Provincial park people not YOUR cottage! One rude old lady had here dogs staggering through our site and her husbands minnow trap on our shoreline. She tried to walk right up to me and I had to back up...hello, covid 19! Please keep your distance. When I told here to please leash her dogs (I didn't want them around my kids- they seemed as confused and out of it as she was) she got all huffy and proceeded to blast music all night to teach us a lesson, lol. Another seasonal camper was running his generator at 8am, and all day. Sigh. Other than that things were great. Again, the staff was great. Thanks for having us guys!

Amazing Park with even better trails and water ways. Park is well maintained keeping in mind there are vault toilets only and no showers. Not to mention there is no internet availability as in not even your own data no signal what so ever. So don't tell your kids until your getting close lol I lost my internet 1 kilometer from the park. All and all I would recommend to anyone who loves the outdoors and nature!

Jade Beer

Such a beautiful spot with so many lakefront campgrounds!!!

Great trail with a freaky lookout (Helenbar I think?) And lovely sites. 12 was good if you dont need tons of privacy. Direct path to the bathroom and beach. Very close to a drinkable and non drinkable water tap. Really clean, everyone was friendly.

This place has become an annual tradition for us. We have been going up for over a decade and now all my family is involved. Park staff is friendly, clean lakes, great fishing and a lack of cell service is amazing. There are few places left that you can truly unplug.

Dave

A few kilometers of great hiking trails.

Zsófia Halmai

The most peaceful Ontario Park I’ve been to for car camping. Total silence at night. Very quiet and respectful campers. The area is extremely beautiful and feels remote. Visited in late September and no bugs. I managed to get phone service by the lake.

Lawrence Chan

Beautiful small park. Not to many sites. Great long hiking trails and good canoeing. Good sized lots for RVs. Hidden Gem in Northern Ontario.

Shawn Rocheleau

Absolutely serene and beautiful place. The lake is so clear, very clean park. No light pollution so the stars are amazing. The only downfall is the bathrooms but that really does not affect the rest.

Derek Mereweather

Very nice greenery

Aaminah Shaikh

Friendly staff

3rd time visiting this park. The roads need some work as do some of the sites. The trails we hiked were well marked and in decent shape compared to other provincial parks. This is a quiet park with good swimming, hiking and kayaking/canoeing adventures.

This park is one of the best Ontario has to offer. Her trails are as beautiful as they come and it's not overcrowded (I went late August). The views are spectacular. I did the Helenbar trail with a friend and we must say, the first lookout offered one of the best views we've ever seen from an Ontario Park. There are also other, longer, trails (ie, Semiwite and Mckenzie) which takes multiple days to complete. Backcountry permits are bought in the office. There's also a beach facing Semiwite lake and canoe rentals. We rented one for 6 hours, and at 28 dollars, it was pretty cheap. It was enoigh time for us to traverse Semiwite and Helenbar lake and do a 419 (or so) poetage. The portage between the lakes is a bit rough with elevation changes so keep that in mind. I deducted a star since there are no shower facilities or a washroom facility on site (even Kap-Kig Iwan has one... and that was isolated) The road leading to the park was also rough and crack my windshield - hoping it won't with yours! Overall, one of the better parks for sure!

Isabelle Zoldy

A beautiful unspoiled park. Very nice lake for swimming fishing and boating

Mallesh B

The Park is open for camping this summer (2013). The town of Elliot Lake and the Province struck a deal to keep the facility operating. This is the only provincial park in Ontario situated off the power grid. Absolutely amazing at night.

Nice park, but we had trouble with some noisy neighbors. Despite speaking to the offending parties directly, and then to the camp warden, nothing changed or was enforced. Generators are permitted to run until 9pm. Noisy music could be possible as we had issues with neighboring party. Camp has a couple of different beaches and a playground for kids. Cellphone service worked weakly at the beach, but not on campsite. Hiking trails are nice, but advisable to bring a map. Elliot Lake has some nice trails, and beach front parks. So, you could stay here and check out the fire tower or other sites in the community.

Yan Wang

Stayed at site 3 and had a great time. Water access from the site would be good for taking out a canoe or kayak, but it was not feasible for swimming. However, the main beach was very sandy and you were able to walk out to a nice swimming depth. The smaller beach, near our site, was cozier and had a nicer view of the lake, but had a lot more vegetation and rocks - not super nice for swimming but still a nice option for a little more privacy. The campground as a whole was pleasantly quiet and the other campers seemed to value privacy and we were able to keep to ourselves and enjoy nature. Very beautiful and peaceful place.

Norm Albert

Great off grid camping

Jack McOustra

Beautiful scenery, clean park, quiet. Has a beach, and a park for kids. Great for families.

Ken Boothby

No shower facility and flush toilet. Nice lake though.

Scott Herod

Great park. Great hiking to beautiful lookouts. One of Ontario's best hidden parks.

Michele Blundell

Simply beautiful

Kevin P

Just a beautiful place to disconnect from the rest of the world been going there14 years now

Martin Turner

Great little park. Not too busy like a lot of other Provincial parks.

Ken Peters

Great views at helenbrar trail, the lookout view is magnificent but be cautious on the slipping stone at the edge can be a trip hazard.

Anthony D

Generally a nice and quiet park. We camped here in mid June - two people and a dog. Had a good sleep. Crazy amount of flies and mosquitoes. No cell reception.

Jason Bourne

I booked site 8 as it was shown near the water but I could not see the water from the site. Small walk through the trees to the water but hard to go in as its rocky. The beach is small and was walking distant. The water was nice and really calm. Would have been great for a canoe ride. Due to covid you need to bring your own life jackets. Water tap and vault toilets closeby. No flush toilets or showers.

Brandon Johnston

There is MOBILE SERVICE at the top of the mountain overlooking Helenbar Lake (Helenbar Loop Trail:small clearing with spectacular view + picnic table). I met a Finnish botanist near the peak heading the other way. Aug.2020.

Bonnie Prest

Absolutely beautiful

Lloyd Mckinnon

Very nice place

Raphael Mabalot

This was an ok park. Stayed on walk in site #2. Bathrooms could use an up grade. Roads need repaired and better signage thru out park. Was nice for seeing wild life.

Christine T

colin coyle

Absolutely no cell service, bathrooms were disgusting (filled with flys), roads need major work(if your suspension isn't good don't go), only 2 teenage girls at front desk with absolutely no knowledge of the park, only good thing was a beautiful lake. Do not recommend.

Mason McFarland

I have been there with my friend in 2011 summer. Like the trails and cannoning.

Becka Bender

Good park with a small lake and few hiking trails. It was okay with respect to facilities and activities. Not really worth visiting form far especially from southern Ontario.

Kiki N

Worth the drive! Love this place (other than the deer flies, mosquitoes and black flies). It’s peaceful and not many motor boats around. They rent out bikes and canoes. I wish they rent out kayaks or SUP however. There are a few hiking trails. Washrooms are primitive.

Big Joe

Paid 12.00 $ day pass to use the provincial park beach. Drove an hour and half to get there. We had our granddaughters for a week and thought it would be a great beach day. Well. The beach is full of leaches. Nobody there not one person. There were dead fish all along the shore. It was disgusting. We asked for our money back with in half an hour and they said NO. Maybe the camping is good but don’t ever try to swim there!!!

Christine Barrieau

A gorgeous, if slightly remote park. Don't go here if glamping is your thing. There's no cell reception, no showers, and no electricity. And I loved it. The beach is nice, and the lake is great to canoe on. There are challenging and scenic trails all around, and the sites are a good size. I'd definitely recommend it if you really wanna get back to nature for a few days.

Aaron Rooley

Wish that half stars were an option as I'd like to give this place 3.5 stars! I stayed at site #19 for 12 nights. The campsite was okay, not flat at all and the firepit was in an awkward spot, but you basically have your own private beach at the site so it was well worth it! Especially if you have dogs as there are limited spots you can let them go swimming. Beautiful place! If you are a nature lover looking to get away from it all this is a great place to visit. However, the trails are not that well maintained- so if you are looking for a place with really great trails this is probably not it. No showers is definitely a downside, my group also stopped using the vault toilets unless absolutely necessary due to the fact that they are all infested with HUGE wolf spiders. (The handicap bathroom does not have spiders). Overall I would definitely come back to this place for a shorter stay, or with an RV or trailer, but probably not for a long trip as I did.

T&D Currie

Peaceful and secluded trails. Some trails haven’t been maintained recently and are not easily passable. Black Trail offers a beautiful lookout.

Tracy Ferron

Nice beautiful

Janusz Prominski

Rural park. Great place to view the milky way at night. Almost no light pollution. Very quiet. Water was great. Warm and clear. Trails had good views.

Tracie Dodkin

Have been going there for 30 years, one of the most beautiful parks in Ontario. It is still open, the town of Elliott Lake is keeping it going. Be warned, there are water taps, and that's it. Real camping.

Camping girl 1982

We camped at Mississagi at the end of June, 3 nights/4days. Overall, the park was okay, great hiking trails, with different levels of difficulty. Canoe rentals are a pro too. The mosquitos were very very very bad. The sign at the front of the park, by the entrance is on point. Bug spray did not work, at all! Park staff were kind, and patrolled quite regularly. Only thing was that some campers were very loud into the late hours, and there was no control over that. Dogs too! Our campsite was an odd shape, and quite small, so be careful when picking a campsite if you have a larger vehicle or will have more than 1 tent. We stayed at campsite #55.

Rob Peters

Beautiful place, not alot of people. Perfect for canoeing and kayaking. There is camping and several hiking trails.

Jacob Bueckert

The BEST camping experience I've had! Park is incredibly clean and well maintained including washrooms that even include a sink. No reception on your cellphones which in my opinion was great! Had deer on our site early in the morning. Frogs were super loud but if your a deep sleeper you'll have no problems! The views are incredible. Park staff are friendly and welcoming. You may miss the enterence into the park so keep an eye out for the signs. I definitely reccomend this campground or even as a day visit!

Good provincial park. Campsites are good sized. No shower amenities. Main lake (Semiwite) is a good size and the beach is pleasant. Staff was nice. No mobile service in park (which we thought was a good thing). I don't think the park is operated by Ontario Parks so many of the expected Provincial Park amenities are missing, and it seems like maintenance isn't as rigorous. Overall a nice park, and we'll likely come back for the lakeside campsites alone

We took a drive through in early July 2019 and really liked what we saw. Large, private sites - some nice waterfront sites. The campground was very peaceful and secluded. Perfect place for people looking for a true camping experience. The park has 2 beaches and a boat launch. The road in, although paved, is a bit rough and bring your bug spray! Update from July 2020: Downgrading to 4 stars because of some issues: Had a great stay on site #23. We rented 2 canoes one afternoon and were told (after paying) that they only had 3 paddles to give us for 2 canoes and 4 people - strange we thought but then when we were out on the lake we saw another Ontario parks canoe with 3 people in it and EACH person had a paddle. I had asked the gate attendant why they were short paddles and she had flat out lied and said that they were missing paddles. The gate attendant is the one who supplies the paddles and had obviously given 3 for one canoe right before we picked up ours. Also, the park lets hikers and back country campers park in the trailer turn-around at the end of the park which made it extremely difficult for us to leave the park with our travel trailer. It would make a lot more sense to have a proper parking area for the hikers and back-country campers.

Chris Haughton

Great park. Very quiet. Walkout campsites are huge! No showers but you can make due if you are camping.

Brian Campbell

Very nice park with beach and lake good for lake trout fishing. A bit remote but Recommended.

Will Wheeler

Nice time at flack lake

Jack MacGregor

The Western edge of Mississagi Provincial park borders the beautiful Flack Lake. The lake has some fantastic Lake trout, and bass fishing. An impressive 45 lb. trout was pulled out of there a few years back. From the boat launch, you can access the lake and Portages to some of the other smaller lakes nearby. Have a map, and plan your route
