I was calling around trying to find some more rare semi hardy plants. I work in the landscape industry so I would say I have some idea of how plants work haha. So I called around to about 15 nurseries around Edmonton looking for these plants. When I called here the man was very condescending and tried to convince me that the plants I was looking for didn't actually exist, but were scams I had read about on the internet, and that I would never find these plants in Edmonton. Well I did. From another greenhouse in Edmonton, and they got my business.

I was on my to another popular greenhouse in the area, when I saw signs to the root seller. They have tons of cute knick knacks for your garden and all the plants, seeds & bulbs. Very clean! The man at the till was super friendly and nice. Not only to myself & my fiancee but to every single person. Afterwards we went to the other greenhouse and Im happy to report the root seller has better prices hands down! My new greenhouse!

Reluctant to buy the Christmas trees because they came wrapped instead of on display but the man working there (maybe owner?) was so confident because they were handpicked that we trusted him and IM SO HAPPY! Same price as the other greenhouse that has Xmas trees this year (love the other greenhouse too but was so disappointed with the quality of 6-7’ trees, but these are MUCH BETTER! It’s fat, full, beautiful and hopefully long lasting! No bald spots, no browning needles, not thin at all! Thanks for choosing to sell people QUALITY :)

Mixed bag review. Wide variety of plants and helpful staff. Some items not priced. I bought a cherry tree the year before. At the time I asked a staff member if the tree doesn't survive the winter, would it be warranteed for a replacement. I was assured by the staff member if the tree didn't survive the winter something would be done. I took this to mean a replacement. Fast forward to this year. The tree is dead. I took pictures of dead tree, but misplaced receipt. I assumed(yes I know the saying) in good faith the dead tree would be exchanged with living tree, but instead I got 40% off the purchase of a new tree. I thought they could have done more, but chose not to. Better than nothing, but they could have done more and didn't.

We'll be back in the spring to get some plants for our yard. We live in the area, and the developer has fairly specific requirements for plants, which of course this greenhouse is aware of since it's right in the middle of the neighbourhood. The staff we spoke with were very helpful, and while it was late in the season and we couldn't get a tree that fit the developer size requirements (here or anywhere else, so our fault for looking too late), we'll come back in the spring and see what they get in then.

My Dad and I have been going to The Root Seller for years. He always bought tomatoe and pepper plants there. I bought all my flowers. This year we bought all our stuff and his tomatoes have all died except for one and it looks horrible! He called and talked to a man who said to bring them back, so he did. The same man he talked to on the phone looked at the plants and said "it could be the soil (soil also came from them) or it could be the gases in the air". What a joke! No offer to replace anything or refund any money. I know we sure won't be going back. It was nice to go and support a local greenhouse but I guess they don't want our business so we will go and help out many other small business greenhouses in the same area.

2 weeks ago I took some plants back into the Root Seller that I was having problems with. Of all the plants I have bought, 3 tomato and 1 pepper plant were dying. I was advised to bring them back by the owner, which i did, he said it was gas or dirt problem and my question to him was "Why only these plants and not the others that were in the same dirt and same place?" I drove out from Sherwood Park and he said he was too busy with customers...apparently I am not one?? He said he would phone me, well 2 weeks later I still have not hear from him (and yes he has my phone number.) If this place wants to keep customers the owner really should take a course in customer service. Thank you for making me check out other smaller greenhouses because I have found some that are very reasonable, knowledgeable, customer orientated with fabulous plants.

VERY POOR SERVICE & BAD QUALITY PLANTS, they don't care about your plants' health, all they care is money. A pot of rose I bought from them got black spot and powdery mildew disease, the leaves were covered with whole bunch of white powdered stuff and dark spots, so I wanted to either exchange to a new one or get the money back, but they took a look at the rose and said the rose looking healthy and guarantee no disease, I told them thats because I already pruned the bad leaves, but they still said they are professionals they know what they are doing...since they have none healthy roses left on the shelf so they can only give me the credit back instead of money and also mentioned that they will resell the rose I brought back to others....On the other hand, they blamed me it was my fault that cause the rose's disease, but didnt they just say that rose was looking healthy and guarantee no disease????? I will never shop there again, and friendly advice be careful and take the risk to shop there!

This was my first time here. Such a great place with a variety of everything. Being from bedding plants, vegetables, outdoor decor and all your gardening needs for tools as well. Prices are all reasonable for bedding plants. Sure might be a dollar more than your typical chain stores but way healthier plants and better selection. Very helpful staff as well, answered questions I had. Definitely be back here.

maybe this place is only good during the spring/summer but they had a sad selection. the only car in the parking lot was the owners, who patted me on the shoulder condescendingly as he explained greenhouses don't grow their succulents by seed, this isn't the 1800's. ok man but i asked you if you had succulent seeds... for me as a customer to try and germinate. I did not ask about how greenhouses grow their plants. I asked if they had any Venus fly traps. his answer was no they don't carry over the winter. um what? they are indoor plants. lo and behold the greenhouse down the road had tons of them . so i wouldn't bother with this place. when there are lots of other well stocked, great customer service greenhouses in the city. Just gave me a creepy vibe, don't put your hands on people.

We first visited The Root Seller years ago when we were looking for a cherry tree. When we got home we had a few questions about how to plant it properly so my wife phoned them - the guy answering the phone remembered selling us the tree and took his time explaining how to plant it properly. The staff is always knowledgeable and so friendly that we have been going back every year. Our cherry tree is doing great and we cant wait for this years harvest. We just visited today and the difference in shopping there between a big box store is astounding. The plants look so healthy and alive. They have those nice carts with the fat tires so your plants arent flying around over each bump. They spend the extra time to make sure your shopping experience is great. For what we paid we came home with an absolute bounty of plants. Cant wait to put them in the ground. Thanks Root Seller! We will definitely be coming back!

If your planning to buy roses, buy from the Rootseller. I went to Kulhmans green house to look at roses. Nice variety, but prices vary on what your buying. A 2 gallon rose is $34.99. A 3 gallon rose is $39.99. At the Rootseller their 3 gallon roses are $34.99 and so very healthy and much larger than Kulhmans. They had so many beautiful roses, I had to do a eenie meenie miney mo!!
