What a lovely store. Amazing selection of seeds which are suited to our area. West Coast Seeds has a wonderful selection of different varieties of heritage, heirloom and organic seeds for your vegetables and flower gardens. Lots of gardening knickknacks to help you including tools, and reading material. The staff are helpful and extremely knowledgeable. The customer service is great as I ordered a heavy bag of seed from the warehouse and was able to pickup at the Ladner store on a Saturday. I got a couple of packs of lettuce seeds for free as well! Overall, we love this artisanal garden shop and tend to spend about an hour exploring all that it has to offer.

Their micro clover is NOT micro clover it is regular white clover, even in the photo. It took over my lawn and I had a landscape architect look at it and she said this isn't micro clover. It also flowered which micro clover doesn't do. Don't buy their seeds they aren't reliable. This will take me years to fix and probably chemicals.

Spring is here. This is a beautiful little store. It has a large and wide selection of seeds. You can also find many gardening tools and accessories. I love their annual gardening guide. It has so much information. It's a great learning tool. They also have a very functional easy to use website. Sometimes, there are problems with the seeds or service. Hence the 3 star. But, don't be discouraged by it. The store often includes a free package of seeds on your first web order or in-store purchase in the beginning of the season. A new planting season is here. Stay healthy, have fun, and enjoy the abundance.

Excellent source for all things gardening. WCS carries heirloom and hybrid varieties of just about everything that grows locally. The small store, tucked away on a side street in Ladner, is the best known secret among experienced gardeners. We have bought more seeds and bits of hardware from these guys than you can imagine. They also have a small selection of books, possibly the most useful book selection for gardeners in the lower mainland.

Went there with my husband 2 years ago and was treated horribly being followed by a staff member checking everything after we looked at it. Then we looked at Xmas decorations, after walking away, with a $50 item to purchase, a woman walked immediately up there after us and said... hmm where is this ornament? I used to work in retail and know exactly what she was insinuating, along with her dirty looks. Then the cashier speaks up and says, its here in a box for someone. Its unfortunate as we really I LOVE their facebook page about seeds and gardening. I guess we'll just stick to that.

Lots of lovely things but not as much before pandemic. Everything is quite pricey though. I bought some dahlias. They didn't have too many though. I found the same dahlias a few dollars cheaper at Cedar Rim and Art's Nursery in Port Kells.

My boyfriend ordered lights from them by express shipment (which suggests that the order was needed promptly) and the store did not send out the order for a week and when the lights arrived they were broken, in part, because they were not packaged with any protective wrap at all (just lights in a plastic package within a box). I'm not sure if the employee that arranged and processed the delivery was having a bad day, but this order definitely lacked good service.

8 months ago I posted "Great store. I'll be back again! Buy local!" I purchased a bag of European Schaefer Beetle resistant grass seed. It has a little clover they said because the beetles don't like the taste. Total understatement. There might be some grass seed in there but not much. Now I have to dig it all up. What a waste of time and money. I still like the store but, but the advice in this case was misguided.

Like so many others, this year’s vegetable garden is not only fun but also vital for producing food during the Covid-19 pandemic. I stopped using West Coast Seeds’ seeds a few years ago because the germination failure rate was just too high. This year almost all the choice I had on Vancouver Island’s west coast was West Coast Seeds. It has turned out to be a disaster. My squash didn’t gerimate at all, my kale mostly germinated, then died. My peas (chosen because the package stated they didn’t need a trellis) just decided to lay flat. Most have died. And about half my beans haven’t germinated. Fortunately my carrots, lettuce and spinach were not West Coast Seeds products and they are doing quite well. I haven’t written to West Coast Seeds three times about these issues and have received no replies. The pandemic is a very bad time to find out that West Coast Seeds are mostly useless.

I have been a huge fan and supporter of West Coast Seeds for years, and when I went into the store with my mom we were greeted so rudely, issued numbers after being greeted by having a lady interrupt our conversation from across the shop with "Hi, helloo, you're Number 3 and you're Number 4". I was aghast when in the process of asking my question was rudely interrupted before even bringing up to ask what I had on my mind, with the lady replying, "Yeah I know what you're going to ask". Even if you did, how disrespectful and unprofessional of a representative of the company to not acknowledge or listen to a customer seeking guidance from an individual with skillets and knowledge in the field. As a result from this one horrendous and appalling encounter, we do not wish to continue business further with West Coast Seeds, as why would I support a local shop if this is how they treat a local?

West Coast seeds is the best place to shop for your summer garden. Lots of West Coast seed varieties and heirloom strains that are perfect for growing in BC's notorious wet climate. Be prepared to wait in the street for a while, especially on the weekend. Only 4 customers on store during Covid.

The store is great and the staff are super knowledgeable and friendly, so that’s all great. I ordered hops, and they took a month and a half to get a confirmation that they’ve shipped. I think at some point I should’ve been informed about the delay, because I’m sitting here May 1st with nothing in the ground. I would’ve found a different supplier if I had known. I get that things have been a little different this spring, all I’m saying is an update would’ve been nice. I mean long term it isn’t a big deal, but I guess if you’re looking to order things online be aware of maybe a wait.

I used to support west coast seeds. I purchased around $450 worth of seeds this year from both west coast seeds online as well as through home hardware. They are overrated. I did have some good success with their veggie seeds, alot of the germination with other seeds were ok at best. I had issues with some of the seed packets and seeds. Their baby's breath packaging photo is falsely advertised as the double petal variety even though the seeds you get only sprouts the common baby's breath. I also spent almost $20 to purchase the higher end babies breath that only had 50seeds. The seed pellets arrived mostly crushed and I planted them three different ways and nothing sprouted. I emailed them my concerns and asked for just the higher end babies breath to be credited and they asked for the lot number. Which I no longer have (it's not ledgable) as I plant all the empty packets into the pots or ground when I plant seeds. I'm not happy with their customer service (it also takes weeks for them to answer). I will be switching to other suppliers.

Glad I made the drive to West Coast Seeds. Staff was great... told me tomorrow was the last day to plant beans... l ol.. I have the seeds for next year! C0VID measures were in effect so only four people in the store at one time... PERFECT... more space for me!

I ordered $5 of seeds and they charged me $7 for shipping by untracked service. For $7 they could easily have sent a small envelope of seeds by priority mail. Now 5 days later nothing has been delivered. Seems they try to rip off customers with inflated shipping costs. In fairness to them I did not realize at the time that I was ordering from a company in Canada. In view of the international aspect the high shipping cost is understandable but still exorbitant.

I ordered some seeds grew them and 6 months later the peppers weren't what i bought. Just store bought orange habanero and some tiny yellow pepper both looked nothing like the pictures on the packets. None of these i wanted. I am an experienced pepper grower and there is no excuse for this. Horrible customer service they have to consider giving me another 4 dollar seed packet. Buy anywhere else!!! 6 months!!! LMAO I have been trolled
