REVIEWS OF J.T. Cheeseman Provincial Park IN Channel-Port aux Basques

Kris Stewart

Nice provincial park. Clean washrooms. Beautiful beach.

This is a beautiful park with a fabulous beach. We stayed at site 14 which is right next to a waterfall. The beach is a 5 minute drive away, but worth it. Port aux Basques is a great little town and while you are there, you should check out the Butterfly new and used book store. It is carefully curated and they know where everything is. I wish we could have stayed here longer, but sadly we(like everyone else) were just passing through.

Quiet, beautiful place. Nice sites. Power available on some sites. No water or sewage on site but water and dumping station available in the park. Lovely beach only minutes away. Awesome plants to be seen on the walking trail. Natural swimming locations with clean running water and picturesque waterfalls.

(Translated) No drinking water on the ground. The places indicated drinking water but there were notes that the water had to be boiled (Original) Pas d'eau potable sur le terrain. Les endroits indiquaient eau potable mais il y avait des notes que l'eau devait être bouilli

Susan Crocker

Amazing beach!! Was there at high tide and had so much fun floating out in the fresh water stream out to the salt!

Betony Morrison

To be fair — I got here in the middle of the night and wanted to see see prior to boarding my NL to NS ferry. —- but, the roads were horrendous, and it appears most of the park is meant to be a camp ground. I didn’t get a chance to see the beach, but I was told it’s beautiful. It was too windy and dark that night to enjoy the beach, though I did drive the treacherous 15 minutes to maybeeee see it. I would detour again during day light hours to maybeee see the fabled beach. And I love the name. Ha. Cheeseman.

Glen Harding

Nice park / location. We found the gate staff could use a little enthusiasm and a lesson on customer service. And there was someone on the site we reserved when we arrived. It didn't seem to matter that we booked a month in advance. The boil water advisory on all drinking water is inconvenient too.

Paul Sheridan

Peaceful

George Sheppard

Water unsafe to drink..road into campground disgusting. ..was told it was serviced but only had electricity... and worst was told my 40 ft trailer would fit. ..not a chance even in their so called open field...was not impressed.. after planning for 3 years not impressed with newfoundland provincial parks. .

Becca LeRiche

Great beach. Campground is far from the beautiful beach in distance and beauty.

Stevie Ramone

Beautiful place. We live in PAB and were looking for a place to ride our mountain bikes one morning; came here. There are two trails on which we can use our bikes - the Newfoundland T’Railway (old rail road tracks) or the path to the small waterfall. Recommend it the weather is nice!

So Bl
