Sept 10th they were advertising bulbs, but there were no bulbs on sale in the store. They had the biggest seed collection I've seen, but about ¼ of the bins were empty. And the prices were eye-popping....! I can understand their mail-order prices being high, but not in the store. Sorry, we were quite underwhelmed & disappointed.

Veseys is a month behind the four other garden companies I ordered seeds from in early March. This includes companies from the US. Customer service was was poor and I am very disappointed by this reputable Canadian company.
Best spot on earth for lawn and garden gear and....you guessed it, seeds, with a wide selection of which most are tested by the staff in the testing flower garden across the road (visitors are welcome!). If you are looking for a new saw the power equipment store out back sells echo, BCS tractors, Kioti tractors and at the time of visiting there was also Ariens and cub cadet (a good selection of this) as well as many implements for lawn and garden 3 point pto.

Quickly found a belt for a brand of blower they didn't even sell
I have ordered from Veseys Bulbs for a few years now. It is a hit and miss whether the bulbs will grow. Their website is absolutely substandard! No real-time updates of plants or order progress. Even if you contact them, they do not provide detailed information. I spend a few hundred dollars each year on plants. I don't understand why they do not put more effort into keeping their customers.
Went for the giant pumpkins. Farm was very tidy, shop has huge selection of seeds. Will definitely be back in the spring.

I placed a huge order for vegetable seeds and flower seeds January 20th. A small portion of my flower seeds and vegetables came at the beginning of March, I had to call to find out where some of my tomato and cucumber seeds were as they were back ordered and I didn't get them till the end of March which was fine because I just planted them then. But they're still a portion of my order that has not come. So I called again and April and finally was sent some more of my order. Still there are some of my order that I have not received it is almost the middle of may. I understand there's a pandemic and there's some delay, but I live in Canada and this company is in Canada and I expect to at least get my order within a month or two not four months. I'm thinking of calling and just getting a refund for the remaining portion of my order. I feel that my credit card shouldn't have even been charged unless they had my product. This is my first time ordering from vessie's and I think it'll probably be the last time.
A great little place. Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Some limited stock due to shipping issues related to Covid. Good prices and quality merchandise. Will be coming back throughout the growing season. Can't wait for my bulbs and fruit tree order to arrive.

Poor service, terrible delivery. It has taken about 45 days for them to ship seeds. When they did ship they actually mailed one envelope at a time with five different tracking numbers. I'll receive the seeds far too late to plant for this season. Even with COVID, there's no excuse for such terrible service.

I am Canadian. I'm also an islander, from PEI. I spent more than a few years living in Little York not far from the sellout, overpriced Jewel family, and just down the road, I and my family supported the overpriced Vesseys. April 24, store remains closed to the public, though that was nowhere to be found on the website. I called to make sure that if I drove over an hour to get there, would they be open. "No". "We're still processing seed orders from April 4rth, we have a lot of USA orders as well as Canadian. We're fully stocked with seeds though and will probably be open next week which still leaves you lots of time to get growing, but we're unable to take any more orders from seeds." REALLY? NO, SERIOUSLY? You can't take any more seed orders, though you're fully stocked? Looks like it's more lucrative to take the government money than it is to get staff back to work. Shame on you. I hope the only milk you get for your grand ice cream shack curdles like my stomach does from the day I had the phone call you.
Amazing product, amazing customer service. They are always ready to help me even though things have become uncharacteristically busy since everyone took to gardening all of a sudden. First time ordering online from Vesey’s as we live on the island. We ordered $220 of perennial grasses. They were delivered late in the delivery season and I had called twice for follow up. The miscanthus grasses were very dried out on arrival and never thrived despite my best efforts. The rest of the order was complete and grasses have grown wonderfully. Update to this review: I received response to this review and it directed me to 1-800 to report problem with the order. They were very helpful and although the miscanthus grass was not able to be replaced at this time of year, they applied a store credit for me. Thank you for the support. It’s great that they stand behind their products!

I placed two orders for seeds; April 6 $265.25 and April 7 $89.99. Both orders were delayed due to corono-virus...I totally understand reasonable delays. Several of my seeds were on backorder. I received some but some are still unavailable. I have been emailing back and forth for over a month to find out the status. It is getting late in the planting season. My issue is that I've asked and have been assured I was getting a refund for the seeds I still haven't received yet; as it's too late to plant them. It's been weeks and I keep getting the runaround as to the credit back to my Visa. If you aren't able to fulfill a customers order in a reasonable amount of time, or at all, you should not be charging a credit card for the items you can't provide. When it's time to refund, you should do it immediately (there was no hesitation on your part to charge my Visa; you should refund just as quickly). I'm very disappointed with many of the flower and herb seeds I've received. They're hit and miss. Some are growing; others are not and they are from the same seed package; planted the exact same way. The vegetable seeds are fine. Your customer service is lacking. I will never order from Veseys again. Huge fail!

The bulbs came in a little cardboard box, and they were in sealed in little plastic bags, with some wood shavings
While it was fun to get plants in the mail, I was disappointed by how long it took my order to process, pack and ship. Those in zone 5B got their plants before I did (being in zone 6B) and I had to plant my bareroot plants in 30C+ temps including spring flowering plants like Bleeding Hearts. Some inconsistent sizes for both plants and roots with some that were rotted or poorly divided. I was told that I "can still plant them disregard the size as they will still grow" which in two weeks hasn't resulted in anything in my garden. Update: All 12 of my Coral Bells, 4 Pink Lily of the Valley and 1 Toad Lily did not sprout at all. I was relieved that I was able to get a refund on my order for the dead plant material (Mar 28, 2020). Unfortunately with the waiting to see if anything would grow, the side garden bed has lost most of its growing season. Some plants did grow including the Astilbe which sprouted to only about 15cm tall with a small flower, while the Bleeding Hearts grew approx 20cm with no flowers. Moving forward and for my peace of mind, I'm only buying bareroot plants in person where I can see what I'm getting.

Best for seeds and bulbs in Nova Scotia and PEI, but if you're a big gardening fanatic go early in the season as they have some amazing deals.
First time online customer; received dead roots and requested a replacement. Took quite a long time to receive a response, but eventually did. The replacement arrived nicely packaged with most roots healthy and a couple dying. But overall better than the initial order I received. It seems parcels arrive around 5-7 days to my home in Toronto. Before you order bare root plants, keep in mind that they may rot in the mail. I advise sticking with bulbs/corms/tubers, as they can stay dry for much longer. Overall, there were some ups and downs with my experience, but I'll close off the review on a positive note and say that Veseys is a good company, even if they are slow on getting back to customers. My advice to Veseys is to clearly list which plants come in bare root, and to ship them via Xpresspost instead. The cost saved from using Expedited Parcel is not worth the cost of replacing dead roots.

This is a very interesting stop on the York Road, in York PEI. The business is mainly the development and marketing of seeds, but this location offers a garden and gift shop and you can wander through the gardens and trial plots. Also available is a large selection of garden and lawn power equipment. They have skilled mechanics on hand to do repairs and will also pick up and deliver equipment for repair or new equipment just purchased.

Planted my seeds from Vesey's in the Bahamas and they are growing well Was disappointed that some pack's only had 10 seed. Really loved York PEI.

We have purchased seeds on two ocassions in the past from this company. Both times weeds grew where the seeds were planted. We used stakes to identify the seeds. We thought the first time was just a one off but we tried again after moving provinces and weeds grew again exactly where the seeds were planted. Weeds did not grow anywhere else in our garden beds.

Our first time ordering Vesey seeds and plugs (coming in spring). So far we have been very happy with everything they have provided. We are looking forward to starting seed inside in March. Very excited for our Blueberry plugs to arrive since we can't find a local supplier. Prices were very reasonable shipped straight to our door.
Finally got there after buying on line from then for years
I used to like Veseys Seeds, but no more. I just bought a package of tomato seeds an only got 9 seeds in the whole package, and it cost over $5.00. I will be returning the rest of the seed packages and will not buy from Vesey's again. I used to get a lot more per package. Very disappointed.

Everything I bought had been coming up so far this spring, The squirrels had a good go at the bulbs, and almost all have survived. I will update photos when I have a chance. the only delays I experienced were the ones specified since I had ordered fall planting bulbs in mid July. the site specifies this, as does your order confirmation. I have recently bought more shade and sun wildflower mixes and I am sure I will be updating my response when they start popping up too.

I made an order in first week of March. I received an 1/3 of order in 3rd week of March and 2/3 order (including spring bulbs)were "back ordered". It was fine. I was not in rush. I waited until 27th of April and called Vesey's. I was told that my credit card has no been billed for 2/3 of my order. I asked when can I expect to get my order. The answer was basically they don't know. I asked for approximate date and here was the response"oh my god.. now is only end of April". It was speechless. I like the selections that Vesey's provides. Price is good. Quality is good. But they have to work on the customer service. Give the customer when can they expect the delivery. Not acting like customers are at their mercy. You will get when you get attitude is not what I signed up for.
I have attempted to order from this business on separate occasions and each time I am left waiting on my orders until way later than they are supposed to be planted and when the seeds do arrive they are damaged and do not grow. This year I decided to give them one last chance so I could order Canadian product and I am left with my order being split into three orders, I have been charged so far 2 separate shipping charges (than told that doesn't happen) while still waiting on part three of my order. When I contacted customer service I received no help but just a reiteration of how the problem is my problem and not that of the business who at no point explained that they have several warehouses that will ship at different times. I was also told that my order isn't being shipped yet at there were orders in front of mine, even though I have received 4 of my 11 items already. I am very disapointed in this company and there ability to inform their customers and keep customers happy. After having received very late seeds last season and then those seed Matt's and saddle bags never grew I will never be buying from this business again and I will be telling others to not help them to grow their business further.

Worst online company that I have ever dealt with. This company has been doing on line sales for decades and can't get an order shipped with in 23 days and counting. They try to blame their suppliers but every item I purchased showed up as in stock when ordered. So if it is in stock why the delay in shipping. They tried to blame the pandemic in a backlog of shipping. Most on line retailers that I have dealt with during the pandemic were able to ship with in 3 days most the next day. I would tolerate a delay of 7 to 10 days buy 23 and counting doesn't seem like a pandemic problem it seems like a Veseys problem. I have canceled my order, I hope as I haven't received a reply yet, maybe it's coming in 23+ days. I will not order again from them and would not recommend anyone else order from them unless you don't mind waiting months for your order to show up. I have to give them one star but if I could I would give them zero stars
I’ve purchased from Veseys Seeds for years and have always been very satisfied with their service and quality of their seeds and bulbs. This year has been entirely different. Seeds were very late to arrive, some of my pea seeds arrived too late for me to plant. I also received some bulbs very late and one of my packages was completely empty.
Over 25 years dealing with this company . Will definitely be shopping around in the future
I look forward to going to the store each Spring, and choosing seeds for our vegetable garden. Would love to give five stars, but the person on Cash couldn't have been more unwelcoming, cold and distant. No greeting, no chit-chat, not even a smile. Perhaps this person would be more comfortable behind the scenes. Front-line staff need to be friendly and welcoming.
Was expecting more. It is don't a small store that sells trinkets and seeds. Nice enough if you live there or passing by, but wouldn't make a special trip just to go there.
They sell more than they can process. Horrible wait time. I ended up getting the wrong item. The item I wanted is no longer in stock. No reply by email, had to call them multiple times. No prepaid return label. I was promised a refund and I still did not get it. We are June 23 and I orderd in April. I had to contest the purchase with VISA. The people on the phone are always nice and polite (why I didn't give 1 star), but they are clearly not equipped to handle this much business.

I appreciate the prompt response and the professional way in which this was handled, and I absolutely understand mitigating circumstances that might affect shipment time on products. I will attempt to shop there again and see how I fare the 2nd time around. ------------ Placed my first order, after a week of it not being shipped out I called customer service to see what the delay was. The woman who answered the phone could not have provided worse customer service unless she'd just hung up on me. No apology for the delay, no "let me check into that for you!" Nothing. Just some excuse about "the storms" given in the most flat-line, monotone voice possible. Not sure how the quality of the seeds I ordered will be yet given they haven't arrived but the next purchase I make I'll be looking into another company.
Veseys states that if your order does not meet your satisfaction upon arrival they will gladly replace any item free of charge. My order was a long time in transit and while most was good, one item was not. I reported it, sent them a photo. One person said I should give it a chance, another said he could see some green and maybe it would pull through but they didn’t have any of the plant in stock. I realized that I had paid $36 plus tax for an item that I was being asked to babysit and said no. With no real explanation but I assume because like most people I had used one of their offers, they stated they were doing a pro rata refund and giving me $27.05. Nearly all of their stock is marked “sold out” so the replacement policy is meaningless
I ordered multiple times from Veseys, mostly live plants and bulbs. Some of the plants I received were good and healthy, if a bit small, but many had problems. Those with problems arrived dead or were the wrong plants. The worst offender was a canna lily that was not only the wrong cultivar but infected by the infamous canna virus, putting at risk the other ones I already own. I threw it away, hoping it didn't infect my other plants. Time will tell, but you can be sure I won't be ordering any more canna from them. I got a credit, not a refund, for the problematic plants. I hope my next order will be of better quality because I don't see the point of ordering more plants if they are going to be this bad too.

What a strange experience, ordering from this company. This was my first order and I made it on April 8th. All the items said "in stock" and so, going by experiences buying from other companies years ago, I expected they would be shipped out right away. I ordered rugosa roses, another rose bush, strawberry plants and potatoes. They did mail the potatoes sometime in early May, but I figured that after so much time, the order would be cancelled or they would let me know they couldn't get the other items. No, I get an email on May 30th that they have been shipped! That's a long time, in my opinion to wait for a PLANT order that needs to be planted in early spring! So I received the order June 4th and the rugosas look dead. One has a couple of tiny buds but the rest of them are just dead looking. Basically they are dried up branches with no green anywhere. I did put them in a bucket of water as it says on their website, but I don't hold out much hope. I've planted bareroot roses before from another rose company, so I knew what to expect and how they should look. These ones just don't look alive. The strawberry plants looked okay but, again, it's June now and 30+ degrees where I live and who knows if they will even grow, never mind get any fruit. They sent me the wrong single rose bush which is disappointing. It looks okay in the little pot but the tag says it is a different one than I ordered, while the cardboard box it was in said it was the one I ordered. Which is it? I did send customer service an email with photos but who knows when I will hear back as other emails about payment took forever. I guess my beef with this company is if you are selling live fruit plants, and bareroot roses that do better planted in early spring (or even better roses planted in Fall) so they can get going, and you don't have the actual stock yet, I would rather be told that you can't get it and move on. I feel like I wasted two months waiting for something that isn't going to grow properly now, if at all, this late in the growing season. It's disappointing and strange. Canada Post was fast delivery so you can't blame them for this. Blaming the pandemic doesn't do it for me at this point. I can understand to a point but if you can't get it/don't have it, then tell the customer so they can move on and perhaps get it somewhere else. I will not order from this company again because of this. It was a try, but an expensive one for me.
I'm not sure what to think. While the online store has many rare plants that I can't find easily elsewhere, after 2 years of ordering there and out of 6 plants and bulbs planted following the instructions, only one has grown. I thought it might be that I have done something wrong or that I am just unlucky but 1 out of 6 is still a very bad average.
This was my first order with Veseys. My order was delayed and one item was back ordered, but that was expected due to Covid. Customer service was also a bit slow but also expected but any interaction was always very polite. I received everything but one package of seeds in plenty of time to have flowers ready to plant. The last package came almost to late but they are doing pretty well and starting to bloom. I had excellent germination and everything is doing very well. My issue is that two packages are growing the wrong color flower. I ordered Shock Wave Demin and Shock Wave White petunias. The Demin ones are supposed to be blue according to the photos on the website and they are most definitely purple. And the white ones are blooming pink. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but the point is I didn't get what I ordered. It kinda messed up the color plan I had going. But they are still pretty.

Ordered plants in April 2020. Finally got confirmation of shipment on June 8th. Delivered to my home on June 19th. Plants arrived in very poor condition. Some arrived dead. I have purchase many plants in the past, but I will not be ordering from them in the future.

Veseys has made a lot of excuses this year because of Covid 19 but the fact is the jewel of the Maritimes for plants and bulbs has plunged into a careless and shoddy service provider. Often the stock is unavailable, and shipped without thought of survival. It took almost 2 weeks for live plant roots to arrive, roots totally dried out in 2 packages and slime in the third. The plants were mailed on the Thursday of a long weekend. So thoughtful and responsible! Other companies use wonderful plant containers that keep the plants moist and safe, Veseys just throws there prepackaged plants in sealed plastic bags and ships them without thought. When I phoned about this the woman on the phone laughed and treated my complaint as if I was a nut case, but just as I suspected , 1/2 of my order is dead and this isn't the first year , it happens EVERY year . I order thousands of dollars worth of plants and seeds or my farm each year and have come to dread ordering from Veseys. I hope everyone starts looking elsewhere. there are some excellent suppliers out there, Veseys is not one of them. And Owner please do not respond with the same old excuses as you write on every bad review, put your money where your mouth is and start making the necessary changes instead of making up garbage excuses. The fact is, there are lots of folks who do it far better.
This is my first time ordering from your company. All the items I ordered were of high quality & arrived in excellent condition. The thing I liked the best was they were very mindful of my planting zone. That is a big thing here. I will be ordering from them again
Not very happy with my first purchase. I placed order for strawberry, raspberry and blackberry collection. Everything was delivered almost dead. I got two dozen strawberry roots Out of 75 roots that survived but all raspberry and blackberries were dried and dead. My order was sitting for two weeks and I had to call multiple times to have them delivered due to a credit card issue which held my order behind (they don’t charge you when order is placed months before but when they are ready to be shipped). I don’t think I will order again. I don’t recommend.

Utterly pathetic!!! I ordered 3 blue berry bushes all showed up dead … not dormant , DEAD ! Still haven’t received the rest of my order and attempts to contact the company to cancel my order are “fruitless” . Best to buy local these guys are crooks !!!!
They were great before for many years. Now it take more then a month to send the order of only seeds to customers. I hope they will fix this issue otherwise they will loose many clients.

Loved this place in the past. This used to be a great place to get your gardening needs for the last 15 years but since last year they have taken on too much and disappointed the loyal customers that got them to where they are now. Cannot get through on the phone, on hold 10 minutes plus just to ask a question. Sent thing out too late last year so I had to purchase elsewhere. Cannot reach them and no guarantee that they will arrive on time. Hope they get through their growing pains and instead of taking on too much just take on what they can handle so their customers come back. they are losing many now, its a shame.
