Phil, the owner is very friendly and charming but he struggles to cope with details, tight deadlines or with any unscheduled hiccups. My job was delayed because Phil told me that the wrong materials had been delivered the week before the scheduled start date. Since no-one had checked what had arrived until the workmen turned up to start work this was a poor excuse. Saying his team was unable to do the job without the right materials, the workmen all left and returned with only three days to go before Christmas. This left them in a rush to finish the job and they disappeared as soon as it got dark on 23rd and refused to come back on 24th to finish off and deal with the snags despite my offering to pay them extra to do so following which my partner spoke to him once on the phone to clarify what rectification work was required. Phil thought this was aggressive I assume because we had woken him up when we'd called him at 10:30am after he'd failed to turn up as promised at 10am. It has taken two months of postponed, cancelled and no-show appointments for Phil finally to deal with the problems and, while he was very apologetic and has at long last sorted out what was wrong, I’m left feeling very disappointed that he and his team didn't take the time to do their best work first time round. To add insult to injury Phil explained what lessons he had learned from my job and how he's since done it properly for someone else, and I see a new review which suggests this is the case, so you might very well be luckier than I was.

They were a cheerful bunch of guys, very polite and if changes were needed they discussed it with us. There was a minor problem but that was dealt with even though they were busy elsewhere.

This gave as the option to understand what we could save money from and what we could plan extra. The worked have been carried out at good quality and the suggestions from Phillip made our front garden and the green roof bin storage something that lots of people notice. Back garden fence and a side wooden gate also have been replaced and we are very please with all the job done. Outstanding work exceeding my expectations. We contracted the Cambridge Landscaper, initially to clear out a seriously overgrown garden, a work that subsequently extended into a full revamp of our garden, including the laying of new turf, creating flower beds and a large patio. The work was done and agreed with Phil in stages, (i) clearance, (ii) turfing and flower beds and finally (iii) the patio. The James and Marius team, that made the bulk of the revamping work of our garden was extraordinary, their work ethics and professionalism impressive. Moreover, it was a share pleasure to have them around. The final result exceeded my expectations. The James and Marius team (as well as all the others who were more occasionally involved in this project) comes highly recommended in my book.

Just called to ask about turfing and was told in a tone “it’s not for us, thank you” and hung up! Wow. Response: You called me from a different number and said “This is Phil” I said “I’m sorry, I don’t know who this is”. You said “The Cambridge Landscaper”. I said “Oh hi, I wanted to ask what your availability is like for turfing?”. Then you replied as already mentioned in my review. Nasty and now lying about what was said. NB they’ve now watered down their unprofessional response to my review, which is why mine may not make as much sense now.
