Right from the phone call to the opening of the bags of dirt, this was a great experience. The Rep that helped me on the phone was helpful and genuinely a happy person. She made sure what I was asking was actually what I wanted and needed. The woman working in the booth was extremely busy but still pleasant and happy, and the Man working in the yard was the same. Then when I got home and opened the bags of dirt, I was overjoyed with the quality! No filler (sticks or rocks) , no plastic! ordered from them twice, once in 2018 i think and then 2019, the first time it was very good stuff, ordered a cubic yard of gardening soil and had a great season. but the year after I ordered a half cubic meter and it was really bad soil, not even weeds would grow on it , and all the plants died. a lot of random plastic and metal debris in it as well. I also noticed that no insects wanted to live in it either. it was some kind of diseased soil or something. the price is good and delivery is convenient but quality seems to be a hit or miss. hesitant about buying again. 2021: ok I took their word for it and placed an order for cubic yard for this year. hopefully they dont let me down.

Had to order in some dirt to fix the grade in my yard, excellent service and high quality products - I ordered the Premium Garden Soil for my raised garden and I'm very glad I spent the extra money. When the soil arrived, I realized I was going to need a lot more dirt than I thought. I reached back out to Dirt Cheap and they have arranged for a massive 22 yard load to be delivered in one truck, and delivered in under 5 business days even during the busy time! Will definitely be going back to Dirt Cheap when I need mulch!

Mid May I ordered 5 cubic yards of 1"-2" river rock form Dirt Cheap after reading all the good reviews about the quality of the products and great customer service. Customer service, ease of ordering and delivery was as expected however the quality of the product ordered was, at its best, subpar. Following their own recommended use on the website, (quote, "decorative option in landscapes" ) one would expect to receive a delivery of what was ordered: 1-2" river rocks. To my disappointment the rocks were mixed with mulch, black garden soil, sand and mud. Definitely not something you would use for decorative hardscapes. A lot of time, water and effort was spent in order to wash the rocks and bring them to a condition where they could be used. Didn't realized that they, literally, add their company's name to the products they sell.

Don't let Dirt Cheap soil fool you by the name. Their soil, mulch and other products are high end on the scale while at affordable prices. I love them! I tested using soil from other garden center as well as Scotts Miracle Grow but to me, they are just "meh" and would do the job. However, when using Premium Top Soil from DC Inc, I just fall in love with it. The envy from my neighbors speak for it! From knowledgeable staffs, world-class customer service, and top notch quality products, ditch other soil you are using...Go to DC Inc. asap.

I love this company. It so convenience to have the dirt and mulch bagged instead of a massive bag. They will even deliver the bags right to the gardens you wish to have them in, which is great if you are not strong enough to pick up the bags yourself. I have not had any weeds grow in the garden soil. I can't say enough good things.

No communication!! I placed an online order and got an email stating I would be contacted with a delivery date within the next 2-3 days. I recieved no call so after 8 days I called to find out what is happening. I was told they are very busy and the delivery might be 2 weeks from now or more not within the time on the website. I canceled my order. I have used them in the past and the service was good and the materials came on time as stated. If they gave the updated info as you order it would save so much frustration.

This morning (Sat.) I went to Dirt Cheap just after 9am when they open knowing very well at this time of year it would be very busy. From the moment I drove in the lane way I was impressed. I barely got out of my truck to go in the usual office where you pay and a young fellow asked me what I needed and directed me where to go, pay and pick up. It was very busy but I bought 1/2 yard of garden soil for a mere $18 , had it loaded on my pick-up and I was gone within 10 minutes. Very impressed! The staff there was very friendly and courteous. Two thumbs up!

I had a dilemma with getting soil to my backyard flower bed. I needed 2 cubic yards and the problem was that I have a walkout basement. So how do I get all that dirt down a set of cement stairs? That's where Dirt Cheap comes to the rescue. I ordered 50 bags of soil (2 cubic yards) and they took care of the rest. All 50 bags delivered exactly where I needed it. Thank you Dirt Cheap and thanks to your hard working delivery guy. Highly recommended and its really not much more expensive. I would definitely order from them again.

The service was ok and I know they buy the triple mix from cambridge but I found lots of glass, plastic and small foreign objects in the soil. I filled half a 5 gallon pale with them. I could fill it more but gave up trying to remove it all. I wish they could screen it better next time. I was very annoyed with the product.

Shows that hire people that care and help get the stuff they need and tell different way what might save you oh some money. Would not order garden soil again. I asked for a phone call before they came. Was told yes that was no problem. No phone call was made and they walked into my back yard without warning. Good thing my dogs were not out. The soil had garbage like plastic and pop can tabs and is full of weeds.

We live just outside the KW area so it was a pleasant surprise when they confirmed delivery for Monday (my first choice delivery option). The process was simple and the mini bags seemed like a better solution than a single 1 yard bag. They were delivered exactly where I asked for them to be placed. The delivery was stealth too. So quick, quiet, and neatly stacked. My yard work is complete while my neighbors still peck away at the big yellow bags in their driveway. Looking forward to making this an annual purchase.

Kris was easy and fantastic to work with and organizing delivery of the product with Jackie was simple. The driver left the product in two neat piles in the location that had been marked. Update: June 2020. Quite out of the blue I received a call from Ann at Dirt Cheap seeking to 'make right' my experience as a consumer (and prior review). She explained the issues the company had sourcing organic material in April during the wet spring. She went on to explain how usually they would screen (to remove the vast majority of non-organic material) and grade their own compost stock but in this instance the inclement weather meant their screening machine wasn't able to work with their own wet material. This forced them to buy in composted material from an outside supplier pre-screened, which in this case, was not to the standard that they expected. Other factors (the pandemic/short staffing and everyone and their dog ordering soil to plant vegetables for the 2020 chaos we're currently in) also played their part in allowing this soil to reach me as an end user, and not in the condition that they would have expected. While there isn't much to be done when a bulk order of poorly screened soil is dumped on your gravel driveway in terms of 'resolution', Ann taking the time to call unprompted and be given an explanation of what happened is a refreshing change in customer service experience! She refunded the original invoice unprompted. I can't say I have ever experienced a local business that cares that about their customer base that much. Bothering to take the time to explain how it happened and why it happened and what they were doing to try prevent it in the future was more than sufficient. Pretty pleasant phone call to receive on a Wednesday morning, well done Dirt Cheap. Original Review: Second time ordering from Dirt Cheap Inc, it will be my last. While their cedar mulch is great and their drivers great at placing loads where you'd like, the triple mix soil is simply unacceptable. This is the plastic and metal fragments picked out of just a 5 gallon pail scoop of a 3 yard load. Will not be ordering from them again, totally unacceptable.

I purchased 4 yards of the Black Garden Soil and 4 yards of the 3/4" Minus Crushed Stone. I was very impressed with the quality of the Black Garden Soil. I was also impressed that the 3/4" crushed stone was actually 3/4" and not made of smaller crushed stone. I will be back for more black garden soil for my garden next year. I was also impressed with the help that I received over the phone ordering the soil and crushed stone. Even there delivery truck left the soil and the crushed stone on the correct place on the property without me needing to be at the house.

Update: Their customer service truly can’t be beat. I voiced my displeasure with them in an email and within an hour or so they called me and started making arrangements to send me a new shipment of the next soil up and take away the soil that I won’t be using. I haven’t received it yet but based on their concern I do feel that this situation is out of the norm and I have a feeling that the next bag will be of a higher standard! (I’ll be sure to update this if it’s not). Original Review: Bought a cubic yard of the screened topsoil. I was using it to level our yard and put grass seed on but the soil is just terrible. I wish I had upgraded to something better because there are so many rocks, bits of plastic and shards of glass in the soil. I thought it would be ok because it said it’s ok for laying sod but I’m not sure how well the sod would actually do if it was put on this soil since there are tons of rocks in it. I wish I hadn’t purchased so much because I really don’t know if I want to use it in my yard anymore because I’ve found pieces of glass in it and I have a puppy that’s running around and I’m worried he’s going to step on them!! I’m incredibly disappointed with the quality and would have given it 1 star were it not for the incredibly nice delivery person.
