We had Alex do our backyard last year, we replaced the grass with mulch beds around the trees and bordering the yard, then rundle rock in the rest, with a paver stone walkway leading to a 10' x 10' patio in the back. We found Living Earth through the Burnco preferred contractors program. When Alex showed up he had his portfolio ready and listened to what we wanted, but also gave us suggestions about what might look better or work best, which is exactly what we needed. We explained that we wanted to do the entire backyard in two instalments; the yard last year and to replace the deck with a larger patio this year. Both years, his quotes were fair and all the work was done in the two days he quoted. We just had him finish our second patio with lighted stairs this year and everything looks awesome! Our backyard isn't the easiest to get access to, but Alex and his team made it work. 10/10 would recommend.

Alex and his team were amazing! Right from the get go, Alex was extremely responsive and communicative. We had a particularly challenging inner city yard that had a lot of drainage issues. Alex went through a few iterations of estimates with us, providing his honest opinion and making sure we covered all bases. He continued to communicate with us regularly for scheduling (despite the rainy weather Calgary has in June) and found a quick, convenient time for us and his team to complete the work. The team was very professional, came in and finished the work extremely quickly but did not compromise quality. We will definitely be putting it to the test with the upcoming rainfall, but we are certain that the new landscaping will survive for years to come and we're excited to be able to use our backyard again. They even helped try to remedy a small garage pad that seemed to be sinking on our property as well as some gaping in our fence. Thanks a lot Alex and team for the hard work.

We had 7 quotes for our complete yard being hardscaped. All the quotes were within 5 percent of each other. The owner, Alex Staub, not only came in and gave us great ideas on top of our ideas, he also pointed out some potential problems none of the other companies even noticed, or didn’t point out. These were the deciding factors for us choosing Living Earth Landscapes. Then, when it came to the actual job, we were home to supervise the whole job. Everything was done with great detail. These guys are great! Alex and his team did a awesome job. They were on time (actually they were ahead of schedule which is amazing this time of year) and they were on budget. Alex was different from the other guys because when he came to do the quote he looked at our entire property and addressed all the drainage issues we had, the other guys only cared about the deck/patio and either didn't care or didn't notice that we had other issues that needed to be addressed. I really appreciated that. Alex and his team were very transparent, drawing everything out on the ground so we could visualize what it was going to look like. We made a few changes here and there, Alex had no issues, he just made it happen, it was awesome. The final result was amazing, better than we could have imagined. I wouldn’t normally say this, but if we could give Alex and Living Earth more than five stars, we would (maybe 5.5 stars, right Alex?…). From the very beginning Alex was great to deal with, spending way more time than his competitors getting to understand our budget, the scope, and most importantly, our yard. He was very aware of things like slope, drainage, etc whereas the other company that quoted didn’t even look at this. He was also a no BS quoter - he was upfront and honest about what was possible and realistic. Once we had signed up, Alex spent a whole afternoon with us in February at Burnco showing us our different options for pavers, stone, etc (try finding someone else to do that). During the job itself, Alex, Kyle and the whole crew worked hard, cleaned up immaculately every day, and transformed our yard into so much more we had hoped for - and they worked with us every day to make small changes on the fly to make sure the final product was perfect for us. And to show how much pride Alex has in his work - we had an issue with a sprinkler head and Alex came to replace it within 24 hours and immediately noticed the smallest issue with a paver stone and committed to fixing it (we probably would have never even seen it if he hadn’t pointed it out). So all in all - I couldn’t recommend Living Earth any higher if you are looking for customer service and quality.

No question was to minor to be discussed and incorporated into the design. Even though the work was done in the fall and winter unexpectedly came early, the job was completed on time and looks great! It was too late in the season to overseed the excavations, however, Alex was in touch promptly in the spring to get going, he was courteous and prompt in finishing the details. For instance today there was a small problem with the irrigation and he arrived within 30 minutes with everything necessary to fix the problem. These guys provided service! Very pleased with the entire experience.

June 2017: We had Living Earth install about 650 square feet of paverstone plus a stair plus some hidden lighting. Alex and his crew did an excellent job for us. Initially, Alex Staub the proprietor helped us visualize what we wanted, including reviewing product samples at Burnco with us. Alex was on our site for the majority of the 4.5 day project, and when he wasn't here his very experienced foreman was in charge of the hardworking crew. Demolition of the old deck and excavation of the topsoil happened quickly and neatly. The substrate preparation was thorough - properly packed and graded. Installation of the stonework was extremely well done - despite the hard physical labour required to install the blocks (up to 80 pounds each!) they were laid with the touch of a craftsman. The site was cleaned up completely and our driveway was swept clean each evening and at job completion. All the employees are well trained, capable and courteous. Living Earth Landscapes delivered on its promises and we will absolutely recommend them to our friends.

The Living Earth Landscapes team is the BEST! Alex, Kyle, Austin, Brandon and Jacob are very professional and work exceptionally well together. We have never met a more efficient group of individuals. Everyone was constantly on the move. They removed our old natural rock retaining wall that was falling apart and installed a new engineered concrete wall that was integrated seamlessly into our existing water feature. Our water feature was repaired and updated with an improved waterfall and some waterproof lights were also installed. They also installed a new fire pit and patio. The amazing thing is they did all of this in 5 days while paying attention to the smallest details. We were so happy with the results that we had them come back to install landscaping lights 5 weeks later. We will not hesitate to use Living Earth Landscapes again and highly recommend them. Alex and his crew will not disappoint!

Best group of guys to have working for you. They did a huge job landscaping our horribly overgrown backyard in only 2 days. The work had to be done by hand as our backyard did not lend itself to having heavy duty equipment brought in. The various elevations and huge boulders make the work quite challenging but these guys did it and did well. Our backyard is beautiful and looks just perfect. They also cleaned our patio stone walkway and added some special sand between the stones, it looks fantastic. Would highly recommend this company. They arrived on time and finished on time and on budget, with no issues at all. Alex and his crew are incredibly competent and very professional. My neighbours even complimented them on the work they did and the care they took to ensure everyone was happy. Will hire them again for any of our future projects.

The work that they have done is above and beyond our expectation. My husband and I are extremely happy with this backyard make over. Alex and his crew are very knowledgeable. From the coordination of having the right material at the right time, the efficiency of deploying the material with hard work, and finally delivered the project on time with attentions to details is a perfect demonstration of great team work. The pictures don't do their justice of the amount of effort they put in to make sure a solid foundation of the patio.The last day(Aug 17,2020) of this project, the temperature was 35 Celsius and they totally delivered right on time as planned, amazingly with smiles on their faces. This is a great company; professional, timely, independent, reliable - the list could go on. There were no hidden costs and in actual fact extras were added. My fence was built , the landscaping completed, my deck stairs were repaired, the gate latch was fixed ( the last two were not part of the quote but the extra). All of this was done while I was out of town on a business trip. The job was completely unsupervised and it couldn't be better. Alex rates a 12/10 for being personable, helpful and having a highly skilled team. If you require landscaping done this is the firm that I would highly recommend you use.

I do not normally write reviews, but felt I needed to let google know how amazing ALEX AND HIS CREW are. My husband is very OCD, as well as my father and both were speechless. Besides all the amazing things they had to say of course. Everything was leveled well. They found an issue with our backfill and fixed it for us. The list goes on about how incredible they are. We will bring them back for sure. It’s been a few months now, and the yard looks amazing still.

They did an amazing job on our yard, the quality of work was very detailed and the team of guys where so friendly and accommodating to what we wanted. The owner stopped by after the job was completed to check how it was grooming and ensure that we are still happy and enjoying the beautiful yard... with how incredibly busy landscaping companies are in summer, it was nice to know the owner of this company cares enough about his work and made the time to check in. Alex and his team were amazing. Our finished product was unreal, we love it. This job was financially a small one for them, but they made us feel how the million dollar jobs likely feel. The quality these guys brought to their work and the level of detail involved was above and beyond. There were of course things that came up that were unexpected, or threw a wrench into the original plans, but they always spent time thinking things through, trying to figure out what works best for us, and speaking to us about the options. None of these things threw the timeline off, the job was completed on time as promised. The level of communication was amazing. We finally have a backyard we can be proud of thanks to Living Earth Landscapes. Alex, Kyle and the rest of the crew showed up on time and ready to work! In just one day they removed the old, patchy sod, leveled the yard, built a beautiful brick border around all the flower beds, laid decorative gravel in the flower beds and new dog run and then laid brand new sod! All of the guys were extremely courteous, hard working and paid amazing attention to detail. They were meticulous placing the decorative rock around all the plants and did a complete cleanup before they left. Amazing job!!! Last year, Alex and his team completed our back yard made over and it was such a fantastic work, we decided to call them back to do the same to our front yard. We gave him a high level concept but emphasized that the goal is to minimize maintenance work and yet eye-pleasing. Alex and his team came through again! The team applied their vast knowledge and experience to take an idea to a top quality finish. Along the way in 2 days, they adjusted and adapted to every situation. I would be remiss not to mention the team members, Austin, Brendan and Kyle. Their work ethic, attenton to details and professionalism are just simply top-notch. Prior to the start of the project, Alex also recommended some execllent trades people for other tasks. They also came through in flying colour so that we could organize and coordinate to make this project go smoothly in such a short time.
