This is by far my favorite Nursery in the lower mainland. I've been shopping for plants in the area since 2011, starting out at Art Knapp in Richmond before discovering the Nurseries located in the farm areas. By far the best discovery I made was Garden in Gardens, a paradise of greenhouses for tropicals and towering palms.
Garden in Gardens has been more of a look and appreciate Nursery for me as it's set on several acres of land seemingly devoted to large scale landscape design projects where you can purchase fully matured trees. For a balcony gardener there's just no room for a 20' tall palm, or a golden chain tree with a 6"+ caliper. Even still its nice to go and appreciate their hard work in the April and May months to get an early taste of summer and browse their 4" pots.
This is a store that you'll need to keep coming back to each month as their stock changes and varies within the greenhouses. I've found the best time to go for a hobby landscaper is Mid-April and May as they have the single most extensive perennial selection in the lower-mainland. You will find plants you thought you'd only ever see in seed packets pre-grown for $2.50 or $3.99 depending on when you catch the sale. The advantage here is that you will not have to wait 3-4 months to transplant into your garden and will have a great show of flowers in your first year. I managed to find Meconopsis (Blue Poppy) and grabbed two in May, that's like the white whale of seed germination!
They also offered not just your hard to find perennials like some stores, but offered them in different crops, I counted 6 different Lupines in specific colours, and 8+ Delphinium in shades of Blue to Pink. For the gardener that's looking to create a specific look or are after a desired colour Garden in Gardens is the place to go to give you a jump-start at a hard to beat bargain.
They also have an extensive citrus collection unlike any other I've seen, True Tree-Peonies, standard fruiting crops and fruiting trees, roses (during the right time of the year), amazing tropicals such as the Queen of the Night cactus, and so much more. I really can't sing their praises enough.
For me there has been sometimes a language barrier when I'm asking about prices, or trying to get some help as not everything is readily marked. However unlike every other place it's the only store I've been to where the staff tried. The staff at Garden in Gardens showed interest in my purchases and inquired about my projects. I had grown accustomed to staff being somewhat dismissive, or helpful only to the point of finding a product. It is so nice to have a store like this so close with such variety and great service.
