Jessie was great to work with and very good at listening to our wishes and working within our budget to meet our needs. Derrick was accessible and helpful in organizing the right people to complete our project on time and on budget. They started with some beautiful stone and redi-rock retaining walls along with clearing broom, brush and limbing trees. Garden City Tree & Landscaping designed and installed a natural play space at our school and we are delighted with the result! The process was collaborative and fun and the design was even better than we had envisioned. Teachers who are taking kindergarten/preschool and grade one/two students to the play space have reported an unexpected benefits. In addition to providing a wide variety of play experiences, they tell us that there are fewer conflicts on the natural play space than in our other playgrounds. Children are so hands-on and engaged in imaginative play, they are not squabbling about taking turns or arguing about the rules of a game. It’s made supervising recess a pleasure for staff!

GCT&L is a pleasure to deal with. Today the crew came from Garden City to renovate our front lawn. They arrived in the a.m. and we were met with 2 fantastic guys...Chris and his Dad, Jay. Both were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. They had been well briefed by Colin, with whom we had made our contract. There was no need to supervise the job as they knew immediately what we wanted including the city works department alteration to our property which needed a bit of a work around! They worked quickly and thoroughly with no cutting of corners. Just had this company reshape and trim our cedar hedge, damaged by the snow and they topped and shaped another small group of cedars. Cory and Dan did a great job, looks perfect. They were on time, friendly, professional and cleaned up perfectly. The estimator, Todd, was also prompt, very knowledgeable and friendly. We have no hesitation recommending this company and we will have them back for follow up as needed.

We lost a huge oak tree in our front yard and Garden City was tasked with the insurance claim. From start to finish, I was impressed with the work that was done. To see the garden where the tree was you wouldn't know the amazing amount of damage that was caused, yet the team at Garden City did a terrific job of making it look better than it did before. A special shout out to James, who put the sprinkler system back to order, and Chlo, who put in the new tree and did all the surrounding landscaping. After a new sidewalk was installed last year, we were left with our lawn being a foot higher than the sidewalk. We needed a simple solution by creating a new garden bed plus a new pathway to a side gate. The office staff were great and arranged for timely appointment with their estimator. This contrasted with the many other landscape companies that could not be bothered to call us back or simply were not interested in a small residential job. We appreciated being treated like important customers. We want to share a heartfelt thank all the crews that worked on our small project – Jessie, who came up with a plan; Derrick, who fine-tuned the plan, Anita, the gardening expert who listened to our needs for low maintenance and deer resistant plant choices, Sean and Miles, who did the heavy work and installed the irrigation and last but not least, Kiesha and Shane that pulled everything together planting all the new plants plus the ones we had “rescued” before construction last year. We appreciated Derrick and Anita’s suggestions on how to tackle the project and helped us narrow down what our vision was. The crews did a great job of leaving the site neat and tidy everyday, kept us in the loop, asked and answered questions and were a pleasure to work with.
