I called JK Home Hardware on King George Rd in Brantford to get 2 portable air conditioners that were on sale, I was advised all Home Hardware in Canada were sold out so I could come in before Tuesday July 10, the flyer deadline and get rain check for 2. Sounds pretty simple but it wasn't. I walk into the store not soul in there except for 1 cashier and 5 employees at the back in the customer service circle. Soon as I started to approach 2 men backed away from the registers and chatted among themselves, one woman went somewhere and I stood there for minute and a guy slowly approached me and I asked about rain check for the air conditioners and he looked at me blankly. There was another woman standing looking thru book and I asked her for rain checks for the flyer item and she said we are sold out I said I know, I called on the weekend and the guy told me to come in and get rain checks as mfg thought might have some end July. This woman argued with me insisting I didn't call their store as there is 2 of them, now hot and agitated I said I am not stupid I called here JK Home Hardware closest to Walmart which you are, but she kept arguing with me instead of just giving me 2 rain checks for the air conditioners that may or may not come in. But what do they care? it would be me out the air conditioners if they didn't come in. In a world of trade war and retailers urging us to buy Canadian which by the way Home Hardware is, we encounter this kind of rude, calling customers a liar basically, because she kept insisting I didn't call then how would I know all that and Home Hardware just lost a Canadian customer because they don't know how to treat them. I can see having bad day but 5 of them back there doing nothing really.
