REVIEWS OF The Butchart Gardens IN Borden

Paola Figueredo

Been several times in the summer and this was our first visit for the Christmas lights and it was fabulous. The grandchildren love the lights and we spent several hours there but the time flew by. Would highly recommend a visit

Chris Cross Crafts

Absolutely loved Butchart Gardens! It has been on my list for a couple years since moving to BC and I'm so grateful I was able to make it! It was the week after the heat dome, so it was still pretty warm, but it was still a great visit. The staff here were very friendly and aware of any COVID related rules and regulations. The Gardens took us about two and a half hours to see everything and relax in between. Definitely worth the trip if you're in the area!

Johnny “Johnny's good life tips” Even

Beautiful flower and sceneries. Even though it's fall, the setting is still beautiful

Shawn Snobelen

While we were here before the season truly begins - the gardens were immaculate and multiple spring flowers were already starting to appear. There is a direct bus from downtown Victoria to the garden but the schedules had recently changed so be sure to check before depending on public transit.

Pooja Kotian

Beautiful relaxing place. A lot larger than I initially thought the garden will be. Interesting gift shop with self branded teas. Their high tea is a very nice experience and I highly recommend it.

Fernando Bayuga

Beautiful views of the garden. The place is so serene. Amazing views anywhere. Butchart garden has lovely landscape. The only downside for us was that, the garden was full of crowd when we came in the morning. It was hard to social distance on the walking trail during the pandemic. Regardless, the entrance fee is affordable. You are going to pay right before parking your car. The washrooms were clean. There lots of area where you can eat your packed lunch or snack.

Kevin Clark

I'm not a garden person at all. When I visited this place in July 2017, I was blown away. Stunningly beautiful. Totally worth the trip for sure. The gardens are exquisite and beautifully kept.

Danny Johnson

Bought the 12 month pass before they started requiring us to book ahead and only stay for the allotted time. Felt like going today to get use out of the pass only to find out my family and I cannot visit. Oh well I've been there enough times in my life lol.

Richard Phan

Amazing gardens!!! This is such a beautiful place to spend the afternoon, there is a huge variety of flowers to look at in each garden and they give a guide book to help identify the varieties. The pathways can be a little narrow when navigating with a stroller and you have to follow the wheelchair route however you don’t miss anything. Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to go.

Jamie Fry

I believe this is a fairy land, a paradise on earth! Beautiful flowers all around. A true masterpiece of nature and an extremely well organised garden! It’s the most popular spot in Victoria attracting tourists for over 100 years. The entry ticket is absolutely nominal! The garden will delight you in every possible way. A great spot for photo shoot!

sarah-leanne deslippe

Great family friendly space for winter evenings. Wonderful service for a wheelchair user. It’s too bad the crowds (outdoors) were sometimes tricky to navigate with the narrow pathways in the dark.

Darryl Roth

Was visiting from the mainland and decided to check out the Christmas lights display here. I went in thinking it would be similar to Van Dusen gardens Festival of Lights display but found the butchart one quite underwhelming in comparison and it’s almost double the price. Overall it was still nice I was just expecting a lot more

Joel

Beautiful place! Even though there are parts in which you can’t go to (Cause of COVID) I loved it! Really loved the Japanese garden! Definitely will come again

Ally G

Butchart gardens is in the Victoria Island in Canada. It has a variety of beautiful gardens that one can spend about 2 hours easily. There's a sunken garden which is very interesting that has a few levels of gardens going all the way down from a hill top. There are several ponds to add to the beauty. Rose gardens are very impressive. All are obviously very well maintained. There is a boat ride into the bay which was scenic. There is a ticket to be purchased. All in all, definitely worth visiting. The gift shop sells packets of seeds of some of the plants.

Shir Choo

Ths Christmas lights while it's snowing is magical

Magda P

Not as amazing as the hype, but it is a wonderful place to spend time and make memories. Beautiful gardens with lots of history and local.flavor. If you're in the Victoria area, this destination should be on your visit list.

Emma D.

It's a beautiful garden! ???? recommended

Jaspreet Sandhu

Wonderful light display! Find the items in The 12 Days of Christmas!

Mehdi Zahed

What an amazing place to be filled with the most magnificent flowers. The garden is easy to find and getting tickets were a breeze. Plenty of parking (went on a Friday). Amenities: The park provides clear umbrellas for all to borrow, so no need to bring your own. The facilities are dated but clean. The Park: It took us about three hours to go through most of the park. Why most? Because we couldn’t actually figure out where it was. There are a lot of trails but not as many markers to point the way. So be ready and hand the park map to someone with a good sense of direction. Overall: It’s fun for all, as long as you don’t hate flowers. Very instagram-able place. They have afternoon tea in the garden as well so make sure to make a reservation!

VA_Duck

Always stunning and friendly staff. Great flower garden. Even now. A true must see if your going to Victoria on the ferry. You drive right by the gardens on your way to Victoria.

Abhro Pal

One of the most photographic places in Canada????????. With flowers????, plants???? and trees???? from all around the world????. I truly did enjoy this wonderful experience on my trip to Victoria Island. I recommend this place to anybody that loves to travel and see new things and places. The prices are adequate for what the experience is.

Nebyue Gebeyue

Amazing garden. We spent around 4hrs to explore entire garden. Wide variety of flowers.

Seán Conroy

This place is absolutely phenomenal. Thinking about how Mrs. Butchart came up with the idea of having these gardens one after the other is mind blowing. Each of the sections has its unique touch. I highly recommend this place to anyone admiring gardening, colours, and beauty. It takes about 3-4 hours to go through the whole garden, at least. So, plan ahead for having a long walk. And, enjoy your magnificent visit!

Preet Chawla

Loved this Garden. So Beautiful ????

Ted Wittman

This place is like nothing else I have ever seen before. Must visit on your island trip.

Dane Lee

Wow what a winter wonderland. And dog friendly after 8pm. 10/10 would recommend. I can't wait to come back in the summer

Wilmira Myelle Puno-Nuera

This place is soo beautiful! Pretty pricey but worth it! It gets really busy so it's better to go right when it opens.

Geoff Ellis

Not enough words to describe how gorgeous Butchart Gardens is. Very well-maintained, and a huge variety of blooms. I love how it's open year-round! Steep admission price but definitely worth it if you're into vibrant flowers and lush greens.

Sarah Hermsen

We have been to the gardens both during the summer and now at Christmas. It truly is amazing during the summer, but absolutely magical at Christmas time. I spent most of my time trying to remember that annoying 12 days of Christmas song, …

David Tyl

Super expensive but the garden is beautiful. I came here late March when there wasn't a lot of blooming going on but it was still very nice to walk around. Not many people come during this time so it's more peaceful making your way around the garden. I can imagine this place being gorgeous after all the flowers have bloomed so I do plan on coming back here in the summer. Although it is expensive, it's worth coming here if you're visiting Victoria and love flowers.

Heidi Halwa

I've never seen so many tulips at one time!!!! They are open under Covid rules, and we received 2 tickets for each year long pass that we could not use last year.

Gary Burton

This place is like nothing else I have ever seen before. Must visit on your island trip.

Aaron Wouters

Was a very well done light display, carefully planned out, over an hour walk in warm winter evening.

Vish Viswanath

This is a must to see place for people who love nature. It is a group of flower gardens where every garden hosts a flower type and its variants. If you love photography then every inch in this place is a full frame.

Astar Young

BEAUTIFUL, absolutely a must go if it’s your first time. The flowers are vibrant and refreshing to just take in all the beauty. My main highlight place when I visit Victoria!

Jing Lu

What a dreamy place. Great for horticulturalists and enthusiasts alike!!! Spent the most time in the rose garden this trip which at the time was in full effect!! Prime bloom time!! The fountains took my breath away. Some sections of the grounds were very crowded but a good time was had by all. Can't wait to go back seasonally- the 12 month pass was more than worth it!!! Truly can not wait to return!!

Kayla Shaw

A stunning visit to Butchart Gardens in the fall. The site was ablaze with fall tree colours in all the primary colours. We were surprised when we found flowers still bright with colour. And fall harvest colours were in display too. Definitely showed us that Butchart Gardens is great to visit at any time of year. For all about our visit check out the RetiredAndTravelling blog post.

Jeremy C Barnhart

It was a winter wonderland! Beautiful experience in the snow.. the lights, the music everything was very well done

David Yelligadu

The lights in winter are so beautiful ! Such a great way to set the mood for holidays. Any season you go the gardens will always surprise you with their beauty

Kate Denison

So pretty! But if you need a wheelchair watch out there are lots and lots of hills. Absolutely gorgeous rose gardens but they are kind of like a maze so it's kind of easy to get lost in them. Just stop and smell the flowers!

江嘉尉David

Beautiful gardens(even for the end of February)! Very clean. Lots of trash cans, washrooms, and lovely gift shop.

Olha Zholud

Absolutely beautiful. A lot of fun looking for the parts of the song 12 Days of Christmas!

Luis Gomez

It has been awhile since I was last able to attend, and the walk through the Twelve Days of Xmas did not disappoint. This year, the layer of snow was added value.

Eric Connell

stunning arrangements. Considering we are essentially in a drought with unusually high heat, the gardens are doing very well. Courteous staff and a pleasant experience.

julia caron

Beautiful Gardens! Must see while in Victoria. Very well groomed and impecable landscaping. I only gave 4 stars because I missed all the summer rose gardens as I went in the fall. I will definitely be back during spring- summer.

Sumit Kumar

Beautiful place. Haven't been there in over 20 years. Still fantastic as ever. The rose garden smells divine.

Jessica Lee-anne

Nice walk with some decor. Very crowded. Christmas decor is typical, not classy (but rather intense kaleidoscope of color) as you might expect at such a place but still ok for an evening walk. Sadly the best part of the park is closed during the Xmas weeks.

Jeff Barnett

Superb experience in October. Perhaps the best garden I've ever seen. Followed by high tea at their restaurant.

Angie H (Roaming and Wandering)

Highly recommended for nature lovers… Entry fee is little high but worth to visit for sure..

Jerusalem Malimban

Incredible is an understatement. If you love gardens, flowers, trees and bushes this place will knock your socks off. Plan on spending a lot of time here. Unbelievable! Magnificent! Beautiful! Lots of parking. Plenty of restrooms. Snack bar (not cheap)

david liu

I think those flowers never thought Covid -19 would happen. A lot of beautiful flowers bloom even if no one comes. Those flowers are blooming in all their beauty this time.

saptarshi mallick

Beautiful place. Haven't been there in over 20 years. Still fantastic as ever. The rose garden smells divine.

jeannine waits

I came here in the winter and even though were are no flowers it was still beautiful. The Japanese gardens are basically the same all year and they are amazing.

Deb Tryzbiak

It is worth to pay! Must visit place when you are in Victoria

T.T.Puslecki

Amazing and way bigger than I could have imagined. Would love to return in the spring.

Ingo Sparringa

Very nice place to visit. I felt it was a bit expensive especially with parts of it shut down for covid. They really should have dropped the price slightly all things considered. Would have gave 5 stars if the price was a bit better. Amazing work being done here. A very beautiful garden with alot to see. I haven't been in about 15 years and was really looking forward to seeing the ocean area which was closed. This was a disappointment and they really should have told me when paying that some stuff would be closed. The more I write the less stars they get. Now I will drop it to 3 stars. Started at 5 then 4 now 3.

Rhythmicon Sound

The most beautiful garden I’ve ever been too. Even the trash bins have flowers on them! I will definitely come back in the spring.

BY Z

Well worth thr visit ???????????? Spent 3 hours here (including an hour at Afternoon Tea - which was delicious) and could have spent more. Can be navigated with a wheelchair and many places to sit. Go early for less people and parking.

Zameer Mohammed

First time going for high tea and will be definitely coming back. The tiny sandwiches and desert were so delicious. Took so many Instagram worthy pics in the gardens.

Chloe Immonen

Amazing! West Coast trip, Summer 2021

Anna Reid

We went in the winter, so I didn't expect much as far as pretty blooms. I was pleasantly surprised at the beautifully manicured grounds and huge variety of perinnials. The bulbs were all poking out getting ready to make an appearance in the next few weeks. I can't wait to come back in the spring and see the gardens in all their glory. There is an indoor garden with orchids and many exotic flowers, we almost missed this part, so glad we stopped. They have created a small paradise in the greenhouse. We are planning our next trip at the end of March, can't wait to see the change.

Marta Fracek

Amazing gardens!!! This is such a beautiful place to spend the afternoon, there is a huge variety of flowers to look at in each garden and they give a guide book to help identify the varieties. The pathways can be a little narrow when navigating with a stroller and you have to follow the wheelchair route however you don’t miss anything. Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to go.

Amos Leung

This garden has different different parts. Like Japanese garden with all the green bonsai trees, a whole big garden of ???? ???? roses. It was such an amazing experience. You atleast need 2-3 hours of walk to fully let the garden absorb you. Ticket price was around 36 dollars but fully paid. There are also ice cream and coffee shop in case anyone feel hungry ????

April Mitchell

A busy garden and a spot quite popular with tourists. Pretty easy to access via public transit, although there are your buses that will take you there from Victoria as well. The garden is beautiful and detailed, with information on flowers and umbrellas throughout (if needed) provided as well. The only demerit would be the price and the heavy emphasis on spending extra money inside, however it doesn't differ much from most tourist attractions in that sense.

Lindsay Percival

Wish I could bring my mom and plant aunties cause they’ll love it! For $36 though? A bit overpriced. It can be a bit chilly a times so its nice to grab a hot drink from their cafe. The goft shop got amazing and nice staff, got some stuff to bring home. Overall, the views were amazing and kudos to staff maintaining these!

kelly davis

One of the best gardens I have seen so far.

Harmeet Hunjan

If you love flowers and plants this is your place. Is so beautiful and really big. The different zones that they have show you flowers for all over the world. Has a kids place too. Is really nice.

Gilly M

First visit to the gardens and it was so beautiful. We lucked out on the weather and had a lovely walk and took lots of pictures.

Dallas

Entrace was pricy but it's a nice experience. Too bad we weren't able to see the fireworks as we had to catch the last ferry ride but the flowers and plants are mesmerizing. Amazing work on landscaping and it has nice set-up of the garden.

Lee Wendy

There is really many types of flowers and all very beautiful! But too many people here so hard to enjoy and peacefully looked around. And the entrance fee is quite expensive than I though. But if you love flower and interest about gardening. Here is good place to join!

Sid Sawant

Wonderfully kept gardens and delightful afternoon tea (with options for those vegetarian / gluten free). Also recommend a stroll down the adjacent Tod Inlet trail.

Mostafa Nejati

I can't even begin to describe how pretty it was there today, the flowers were so expertly laid out and beautiful looking ???? everywhere you looked there was a different type. It smells heavenly as well, I didn't want to leave! Definitely coming back in the spring ????????

Krithik Dubey

Lovely Xmas decor. Rainy that night but expected. Great way to spend a couple hours perusing the gardens

Dylan Soo

Words would never be enough to describe this beautiful place. All I can say that you will understand what I mean when you do visit this place. Hint: summer is the best place to enjoy this marvelous wonderful garden. I visited at spring. Though the weather was nice but they only got half of the flowers blooming (even that it was still beautiful).

Jazzy Pearl

I am not a fan of being required to be directed to designated parking spot, but I guess they wanted to make sure there is order at the lot. Why is there no senior pricing for admission? The garden itself was very nice. I understand why they prohibit selfie sticks because some people were quite aggressive with their picture takin even without the use of those sticks!

Deborah Jones

Always love visiting this place whenever I’m on the island. Wonderful variety of gardens to walk through with great choices for food and gifts afterwards. I’ve mainly visited during the summer season, but the autumn one was wonderful too (though the rose-garden wasn’t blooming, the Japanese garden was phenomenal). Will be back again next time I’m on the island!

Dale Dearing

Beautifully decorated for a lovely pre-Christmas visit. We had a lot of fun! The High Tea was also a unique experience ????

Barun Barua

Just saw the 12 Days of Christmas event. Very well done! Don't miss the Calling Birds or the Lord's a'Leaping. .

Syed Anwar Ali

This garden is not to be missed. It is hard to believe that Butchart gardens started out as a mine. But great love and care were taken over the century to create a monument to nature and her colorful flowers.

Mark Blackwell

Explosions of colour surround you, interspersed with the tranquility of green grass and trees, enhanced by the sound of waterfalls. The meticulous care with which this garden is cared for is beyond my imagination. We bought a 12 month pass....we will be back!!

Natalia Alekseeva

We really appreciated our time at these gardens! Even though it is off season we found them to be spectacular, and worth the time to visit. Great job to the staff who went above, and beyond!

Doug Cosenzo

Had afternoon tea yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend, our server is probably the most enthusiastic server we've ever had. The food was really good (the quiche with the mushroom relish was ????) and we paired it with the flight which complemented very well. Highly recommend and highly recommend eating outside if you can, the view of the Italian garden is great.

Karim Bouchard

Large and beautiful garden, you'll be surrounded by all shades of colors. There's a rose, Japanese as well as a Italian garden as well. You can also choose to enjoy a gelato or sit down for an afternoon tea with various treats and sweets.

William Blake

Had an awful experience with an employee that wouldn't let my friend in and sent her to the front gate. She tried to get in and they wouldn't let her in. She tried to move to the side so other people could pass but the employee kicked her stroller and stopped her from moving. Her kid is screaming cause the employee was being aggressive. The directions to places are awful due to random fences blocking the way. The whole night was ruined the kid screamed the whole time, we didn't enjoy our visit and I don't plan on coming back

Zac Yeow

Lovely garden with lovely gift shop ????????❤️

Pedro Miranda Jr (Glydion)

Beautiful gardens and beautiful ???? LED.

Foto Gini

Always beautiful...excellent year to get a pass if you are a local. Very few tourists .

Amin

Loved it here ❤️ Very well cared for grounds and lots to see. I was here 42 years ago and it brought back a flood of wonderful memories. I hope to return again in the next couple of years ❤️ Thank you to all who have made this place possible ????

Charlaine Lamael Tugade

I'm speechless. PLEASE go to this???????? I'm begging. All I have to say is do not miss out on this garden. Photos don't do this place justice. The sunken garden literally made me cry. It was .. just beautiful. Takes your breathe away. I HIGHLY recommend.

Kevin Gulo

The 12 days of Christmas lights are fabulous every year.

samiksha chopdekar

Very lovely garden, definitely worth visiting. Would get an annual pass if living nearby or have plans for multiple visits. Beware that Google Maps somehow navigated me through Finlayson Arm to get here, which was a very slow windy road.

Ruiping Gao

This place is worth checking out. So beautiful! The gelato was also tasty.

Maureen Garland

Went to visit the gardens for the Xmas display. Looked awesome, had some complaints with social distancing. It's is recommended but not enforced, and with cases on the rise twas a concern. But the ambience was wonderful, had lots of fun looking at the lights and the 12 days of Xmas features????

Rachel Ivey

Being out there on August 11 th was the nicest assortment of flowers and plants I had seen there in a long time. With the pandemic on the downside, more people are visiting but it was still un crowded and with many of the old paths reopened, it was a pleasant afternoon with plenty of showy blooms with an awesome variety of Hibiscus in colours that I didn’t know that Hibiscus even could have. Well worth a seasons pass this year, again!

Istiaque Ahmed

Great place for spending time with your loved ones. Small kids (teenagers too) get bored easily so you better come with a group of adults. Surprisingly a lot of the same flowers all over the place. The Rose Garden is very high traffic zone as the paths are really small and most people enter the Japanese Garden via the Rose Garden too as the only other entrance would be trough the Italian Garden what is also the Exit. The written down regulations about tripods, commercial model photography and loud noises should be translated into common other languages too and staff needs to be trained to make sure people are following this nice rules of common sense.

Melody Tran

Beautifully planted and maintained gardens with a neat history and unique design fitting right into local history, including the sunken garden made into an old limestone quarry. Worth a visit.

Tarunima Sen

Such a gorgeous place. Would go again in a heart beat.

Phil Morin

Beautiful Gardens, easy paths to walk on.

Tony Massot

Sunken Gardens was my favorite part, as was the ice cream near the end. One minor thing was that it was very hard to take great photos because of all the extensive greenery and oversaturation, though that may just be may poor photography skills

Willem van der Westhuizen

It's a beautiful garden! ???? recommended

Michelle McClain

Still a great Christmas experience, and they really have the entry times and parking well sorted out

Brenda Hayter

An extraordinary garden, with friendly staff and many themed gardens within. A must see for any plant or garden enthusiasts. The history and story of the location is unique.

Janet Hayward

Beautiful anytime of year. Always something different. Worth the season pass. Unfortunately this year no Christmas lights at night.

Azin Z

Beautiful scenery, I love how they preserve the gardens and how they maintain it. You might see every kinds of plants, trees, shrubs, bushes, bonsai, flowers, vines everything! Every corner is Instagramable. A ravishing paradise for all the nature and flora lovers. The only cons to me is the washroom, which got me disappointed as they have very small and dirty.

Dom Lebel

light is not bad but its not worth the price. Place is super crowded and some display is scarey. Went to the enchanting forest last year at whistler this is a kid show comparing to that.

Victor Patel

Beautiful Gardens, easy paths to walk on.

Chris

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I bought tickets in advance to visit on January 2nd 2022. COVID stopped our trip and my family is devastated . Airlines, Hotels, Car Rentals were very friendly and aware of this difficult moment but not his guys. No refunds, I can only use again the value of my tickets. Ok, that's fine for an Airline where I can use it for another destiny , the same with hotel. But Butchart Gardens!!..they will keep my money and sell my time slot to someone else. Karma

Roi Kim

Epitome of floral garden Couldn't have been better

Path of Nowhere

An amazing garden, something that should not be missed when in the area. Had lunch in the grounds excellent food and service. Flowers are amazing to see. Get there early when they open to have a more private view of the lands. Afternoons are so crowded it's hard to take pictures because everyone is in the backdrops

Marcus

Really beautiful place for kids and seniors to enjoy the nature and story of the place I visited it in winter and during covid So most colors was not off But worth it Parking is smooth Respectful staff Not far from Victoria around 24 minutes driving Don’t forget to take couple of coins with you and make A wish you will thank me later ????

Alex Y

The most beautiful Christmas place ever!!! Canadian Disneyland! All the care and work that went in to this is unbelievable!

Brian Dick

This was out first trip to the gardens and I am so grateful we went. It was the highlight of our trip and the fact that we were able to bring our dog made it so much more enjoyable. The fall colors were spectacular in October and the flowers, trees and fountains took our breath away. Would highly recommend.

Kathy Nguyen

Nice botanical garden, but expensive and long bus ride.

Ma. de la Luz Gomez

Wow. What an incredible place. This is definitely a must see for anyone. The amount of care and well thought out landscaping is obvious as you walk throughout this spectacular garden.

Laura Morrison

Absolutely loved these gardens... Took us about two to two and a half hours to get through it walking at a leisurely pace posting for photos in front of all the gorgeous flowers. We cabbed it straight from Victoria airport ($40). They stored luggage for us so we could enjoy our experience without having to lug suitcases.

Jennifer Lynn

This is an awesome and beautiful garden. I can’t believe how much work was put into maintaining this garden. The rose garden is magnificent and is the highlight of the entire garden tour. The price is a bit expensive $36 for adult and $3 for kids above 5, and I wish it costs less. During COVID some of the routes are closed and you basically only need to follow the designated one-side route to go through the garden. The only thing is the washroom is limited in the garden so if you missed it you need to wait until you get back to the entrance of the garden.

Rodolfo Andrés Ramirez Valenzuela

So pretty! But if you need a wheelchair watch out there are lots and lots of hills. Absolutely gorgeous rose gardens but they are kind of like a maze so it's kind of easy to get lost in them. Just stop and smell the flowers!

Brianna “Brii” H

Butchart Garden. Near Victoria, BC , Canada It was a former Mines, Converted to a garden. More than 100 years old and great place to watch different flowers.

Pushkar Pahare

We went for the winter light display and it was beautiful. Very impressive! They have the the process very well coordinated in terms of booking a time and parking, and walking around it never feel crowded.

Anna Marie

A must see attraction in Victoria. Some spots in the garden might be a little congested. The garden is like a little piece of heaven. Everywhere is meticulously maintained and well-cared for. The flowers make a beautiful back drop to any photo shoot.

YEG WORKX

It's worth the ticket price and bus trip from the city center. Huge place with lots to see. There was some places for food. Everything is so beautiful!

Indi Indi

36 dollar adult entry fee. Beautiful garden with lush greenery and The flower looks spectacular with so many species from around the world. worth visiting

Niki

It's wonderful, even in the off season. They have a wonderful Christmas lights display.

Dil Begum

Historic sight & it justifies it. Truly a wonderful experience. The staff is extremely helpful. It took me about 3 hours to walk through & see some of the most wonderful flowers. It's landscaping paradise. You could truly feel how much effort was put in to make it the most remarkable place in entire Canada. This is a must see. Will visit again.

Chris Lynch

Loved the gardens!! So many beautiful spots to explore. I only wish that they didn’t have the ‘mask on’ at all times policy as there were so few people and everyone was maintaining social distancing!

Elena Ivanova

So pretty even in the late fall there is lots to see

Nimmi Rashinika

Butchart Gardens is my #1 favorite garden to visit, and well worth the time and money spent. If you plan to visit more than once in a year, I highly recommend purchasing an annual pass. It was such a pleasure to visit this time during a very low visitor traffic time - I had plenty of opportunities for unobstructed views of the gardens without others crowding in or being in the landscape. I missed the live instrumental music, and look forward to hearing it again one day. Definitely plan to spend a few unhurried hours to fully absorb and soak in the peaceful surroundings. P.S. The wildberry gelato is excellent!

Yvan Carandang

One of my favourite places!!! Such a magical place to spend the day. Make sure to enjoy the gelato in the Italian garden.

Christine Robertson

100% the best gardens I have ever visited; so well maintained and just so pleasing to the eye. Well done!

JoAnn Han

SPECTACULAR!... my first time & I had we wonderful day, there is so much to see, in the evenings they have live music, there's so much here it's hard to pick something that stands out the most, just really a beautiful place to visit if your ever on the island. Great history as well!

Tracy Strelau

It is an excellent time of the year to visit this garden with the fall colors and moderate weather. A great venue for nature lovers, photographers, and those who just enjoy peace and quiet. One of the best attractions in the Victoria area.

Glen Domenico

The beautiful Christmas lights at Butchart Gardens !

Egirl Kalamanani

It is worth to pay! Must visit place when you are in Victoria

Chris Bone

We hesitated because of the price and because we are not really big fans of flowers or gardens. We decided to go anyways. We didn't regret it! We went in the evening (great decision because there were a lot less people) and we brought our dog. Great spot, great memories!

Diana Amin

Gorgeous in the snow, the lights never disappoint!

Steven Walker

One of the most beautiful place to visit on the island. I enjoyed every corner there and would love to come back again with my family, hopefully to stay late enough to see the fireworks. I think it’s best to visit the Butchart Gardens in summer when it’s warm and nice outdoors. Please note that I visited before covid so people didn’t have to wear masks back then.

Sebastian Yavar (Seb)

Beautiful Gardens with several different themes all for one entrance fee. We took the suggest route in the provided map and strolled through all the gardens. The themes are distinct and vibrant. It was a great afternoon well spent.

Heather C

Very beautiful place to visit.

J R

What can you say? World class gardens. Expertly maintainer. Great diversity of gardens. Well worth the trip and entrance fee. You get your money’s worth for sure.

Janet Clarke Bell

So nice in Christmas time.

Arif Ali Khan

Excellent! In the fall they make it sparkling with rainbow ???? little lights

Evan Kita

The Butchart Gardens but I will call it The Eden Garden. This place is truly stunning and we spent over two hours walking through every garden. The garden is split up into multiple sections with a specific theme for the plants. A true masterpiece of nature. Breathtaking views of spring blossom. The best garden on the planet. It is magnificent in spring. The abundance of colors makes this place so unique.

Sarah Kamalzadeh

Actually a nice place, and for sure you will enjoy it. One also feels that someone takes a big aford to turn this place in something special. But the entrance fee is for my feeling a bit too much. If you are looking for a place to find and look at different botanical species you can spend here hours and hours. But if you are "just" looking for a place to walk in a nice surrounding then you might find the place a bit to small in comparison with the entrance fee.

Vincent Lim

Gorgeous in the snow, the lights never disappoint!

Even during Covid!! This place was stunning!! Buy season passes!! Such a good deal!! Who wouldn't enjoy flowers all year long!! It was a shame not to see the light show or the fireworks, due to Covid!! It was still a magical place that soothes the soul and fills one's senses!! Truly spectacular!!

Ms. Fancy

Expensive, but honestly worth it. I'm not so much into flowers, or gardens, but I'm in love with nature and here you get both. We came during the pandemic, so naturally it wasn't busy and we were able to move around freely. There were a few sections that were closed down though. All in all, a great way to spend 2-3hrs surrounded by beautiful nature

Marie-Andrée Ouimet

Beautiful and a stunning garden. A garden which has been in bloom for such a long time (100years). Made/ built in the remains of a limestone quarry. Visit the place for its beautiful views, fountains, cherry blossom and a wide range of flowers to see.

Kiki Lam

Really wonderfully kept gardens that offer a variety of flora and plant life and offers a tranquil and enriching experience for visitors. Sadly their rose garden this year was the poorest as it seems to be struggling in a way that the other plants and flowers were not but still really very beautiful and kept up quite well. As is the case with many tourist destinations it did cost a pretty penny to gain admission but is well worth it.

Sonia Chui

Beautiful gardens and a great place to visit. The entrance and parking experience was the most organized I've ever experienced. BC Ferries could learn a lot here.

Jennifer Schilke

This was out first trip to the gardens and I am so grateful we went. It was the highlight of our trip and the fact that we were able to bring our dog made it so much more enjoyable. The fall colors were spectacular in October and the flowers, trees and fountains took our breath away. Would highly recommend.

Darryl Lavigne

What an experience!! Amazing place to be and spent a full day if you love flowers and nature. Wonderful settings and arrangements and you have to visit all the different sections of the gardens. You can have all you want in a place like this, serenity, peace, views, very good food and coffee / tea options and a great gift shop. All the staff is doing an awesome job maintaining the place and assist you to have a nice day in the gardens. Give yourself a day or maybe more than that to enjoy them. A nice surprise was to see our flag (Greek) displayed at the Mediterranean gardens! Don't miss out on this if you are visiting Vancouver Island.

Lance K

We took a tour up to the gardens this year, it had been a long time since we have been there. The lights are so much improved. Instead of simple flowers and arrangements, there are flowing rivers and star displays, it's amazing! We also ate at the restaurant for the first time. The wine selection is only BC wines, which is not bad at all. The food is great, and the service is freindly. We could tell they were a bit understaffed, but it was good in the end.

karthik varadarajan

A must-see in Victoria. It took us about 1.5 hours to do the entire tour. Honestly, everything was perfect. The staff was awesome. They were all very kind. The flowers were all beautiful. We took a lot of photos that will be useful to us. It’s inspiring for our own gardens.

Randy Harding

Exceptional at this time of year. The tulips are awesome

Peter Han

Butchart Garden is my favourite garden to visit every time I went to the island. Every corner could be a beautiful picture. The color combination and the variety of plants will definitely amaze every visitor here.

Trevor Richmond

Only reason one star is taken off, is for the price of entrance. However, it was so lovely there. I am sensitive to the heat and sun, and there were lots of shady places to sit for a little bit along the way. The gift shop is epic!

Ni N.

The garden is lovely, my favorite was the sunken garden. Still the entrance fee is very high and for that reason although I enjoyed it I doubt I'd go back.

Shubhneet Sran

Well worth the price. Incredible varieties and well laid out gardens allow for a pleasant excursion around the grounds. Great photo opportunities abound. Helpful staff all over and ready to remember parking system.

Susan Masters

Beautiful garden , especially around the holidays! Will definitely go back again

Katelyn Manning

Outstanding Christmas light display. A great family night out.

Lynette Meek

Always amazing. Love the variety and amazing parking with the friendliest staff.

Autumn Walenta

We went at the end of October. Assumed the typical end of season lack of growth. Nope. Was very surprised at the richness and density of the different gardens. Would love to see it in full bloom. Only slight, and I know they have a lot of staff, is that close to $60 w/tax was a little steep. The road to it is also pretty twisty - be ready. Still well worth the visit. Stunning and diverse gardens.

Christian Möschl

This reviewer must admit that he does not have adequate words to describe the breathtaking beauty of Butchart Gardens. I spent no less than three hours in this awe-inspiring locale, and could have spent at least two more. The grounds hold splendid views at every turn and if you are fortunate enough to visit on a sunny day with blue skies, you'll be carried away into a floral wonderland.

Mara Cox

Beautiful gardens. Little pricey at $36/adult. You can walk through all of it in about 2 hours, but it is gorgeous! $15-$20 would be more reasonable, but we did enjoy it.

Markpaul Chohan

Vegan afternoon tea, highly recommend. Gorgeous place, can't wait to visit in other seasons.

Dimitris Protsios

This is not a place for people like me who do not appreciate seeing flowers or trees all the time....I mean how much flowers do u really need to see? But if those are the things that fancy you, then by all means, head down here. It really is scenic and I guess, peaceful but as I said, it is not my "cup of tea". Maybe it deserves more than 3 stars but....for me...it's ok.

leanne p

Great family friendly walk with many flowers and trees. The air feels so humid and nice on the gardens. We didn't walk all of it but it was very beautiful.

YJ Kim

My husband and I had dinner in The Dinning Room last night. The meal was delicious and the staff were so lovely. As always, the Christmas lights in the gardens were beautiful.

Jennifer Love

Equally amazing in every season! I love to come here in the Winter for the 12 Days of Christmas exhibit, Spring for the brightest flowers you’ve ever seen, Summer for the extensive rose garden, and Fall for the leaves and colours.

Lakshita Sharma

As a novice gardener I could not have enjoyed this place more. It's really a must see when in Victoria. Take the time to learn the history of how the gardens came to be and it will enhance your enjoyment further. We went on the little boat ride around the bay at the end of the Japanese garden, it was relaxing and fun. We also ate in the cafeteria style restaurant, prices were surprisingly reasonable and the food was delicious.i picked up some seeds in the gift shop and am looking forward to seeing a piece of Butchart in my garden!

Katelyn Fleming

Amazing place. Must see

Nissan Pow

Great view and beautiful lights through Christmas

Jay Why

I finally got to see the rose garden in bloom and it was beautiful. I didn't take any photos because I was too busy enjoying the moment in real time. I had a wonderful time. I also just want to say the traffic control people in the parking lot were very nice and really helpful.

Steve Matthews

I love there so much! I came here over four times during 2 years. Different seasons has different views here. It will be a very valuable experience to come with families or friends.

Cindy Griffin

We went to see the Christmas lights display and it is worthy, it is a short 15 minute drive from Downtown Victoria. We spent around 2 hours walking, sipping coffee and taking pictures. It’s really beautiful!

LUISA FERNANDA JAIME NIETO

Absolutely beautiful! The amount of work and history that is entrenched in these gardens is amazing - I really enjoyed learning about the backstory of each garden. The entire place is beautiful but the Japanese Gardens, the Sunken Gardens and fountain, and the rose gardens are definitely must-sees!

Donna G

Must Visit Beautiful Garden!!.

LeeLee Marashi

This garden is spectacular. The gift store is dangerous! Staff are extremely friendly. Spend as long as you can. It is totally worth it. We went there especially, while on our overseas trip, visiting from New Zealand. Any season is worth it.

Dave Owers

I love this place. A lot of unique and beautiful sceneries.

Aditya Rajial

Beautiful... a must see and take your time... enjoy the flowers and plants... lots.of places to rest.

Sheila Xie

Despite having been here several times, we keep coming back. The gardens are always beautiful and so well kept. The variety of plants and flowers are amazing. It has inspired us to add color and variety to our garden at home. In addition to visiting the garden, we also had lunch in the main restaurant with a seat on the veranda overlooking the gardens. The food was very good, nicely prepared and plated. The selection of entrees was not large but covered just about any taste/diet. Wines were all Canadian and the one I had with my lunch was very good.

Lesley Peterson

It was my first time there and and I'll remember it forever it was so beautiful ????

Sarah McCarthy

Lovely garden and very well maintained. Lush greens and colorful flowers all around.

Dallas Howard

Beautiful anytime of year. Always something different. Worth the season pass. Unfortunately this year no Christmas lights at night.

Daniel David

Stunning. Wish I could have stayed all night. Absolutely 0 complaints. A delightful experience across the board

yinyangcolby

Beautiful place. One hour to take from downtown by bus. But it's worth. I don't recommand to drink iced americano... XD

Brenda Haslam

Fabulous gardens. I visited with my husky, and was delighted to find that this is such a dog-friendly location. Staff were super helpful and friendly. The gardens are immaculately maintained, with such an amazingly varied collection, ranking among the best I’ve visited anywhere in the world. Highly recommended.

Momentum Consulting

Always a magical place to visit

Davine Burton

Just amazing what I saw. The work they put into the decorations the hours oh my goodness. Very very beautiful indeed. Thank yu all for the hard work. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Kristine Fabish

Best Winter Christmas Experience Ever!

Gurumoorthy Mohan

Fantastic/Magical Christmas Light Show. An enchanting way to spend a winter's evening!

Mugari Marima

A beautiful must visit place when you go to Victoria.

Colin Beatty

Everything was gorgeous. Some things ended up being a bit pricey for my taste but there definitely is something for everyone. My kids usually complain for walking but it was so beautiful they didn't realise how much ground we were covering. Definitely recommend taking your kids on the rose carousel

Lee Hooker

Really beautiful place for kids and seniors to enjoy the nature and story of the place I visited it in winter and during covid So most colors was not off But worth it Parking is smooth Respectful staff Not far from Victoria around 24 minutes driving Don’t forget to take couple of coins with you and make A wish you will thank me later ????

Maddy Rud

This place was very enjoyable! A bunch of photo opportunities and you over all feel good when there.

Abdullah AlBiladi

Best garden I have seen. Must have been a herculean effort to convert a limestone quarry . Topsoil had to be transported here. The chimney of the limestone factory is still visible. Would be informative if the names of the flowers and trees were displayed unobtrusively somewhere.

Keri Waddell

Absolutely beautiful. Must go and check it out!

Ken Lo

Expensive attraction as for 4 of us was 132$ cad, but the garden is beautiful and took us about 30 minutes or so to go around. Great photo ops in a lot of the places in the garden and they give you a guide to identify all the different flowers which is great.

Hoda El Wakil

Our visit in early December was a real treat. The lights were stunning and the gift shop was areal delight

Christy

The sights and smells were like soup for the soul. I highly recommend paying the gardens a visit

Edgar D

If you want to come to Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island it is best to experience it on a tour through Landsea Tours as you are given time to explore. This is the oldest garden on the island and are told who thought of the gardens and how long they have been in existence. It is quite busy during summer as you will have musicians and nightly fireworks.

Fei Oktaviani

Beautifully planted and maintained gardens with a neat history and unique design fitting right into local history, including the sunken garden made into an old limestone quarry. Worth a visit.

Brian Baird

12 days of Xmas was great fun for the kids. We went on a week day so almost no one else walking around.

Jayla kayalah

Amazing! West Coast trip, Summer 2021

Kudzai Guta

Such a beautiful garden. We were here in the autumn and it was picture perfect. The colours were AMAZING. Many different styles of gardens to enjoy.

Wayne Hogg

Very well maintained

Nicole Ong

I think those flowers never thought Covid -19 would happen. A lot of beautiful flowers bloom even if no one comes. Those flowers are blooming in all their beauty this time.

Chris D

We visited Butchart Gardens during the Easter long weekend. It’s a bit early for spring but the garden is already blooming with early flowers. The garden has beautiful landscaping that’s photogenic and unique in every view point. I will definitely visit again in summer time to see the rose garden in full bloom????

Robin Deschambeau

Please change coffee beans, it has cheap flavor. Lights, ambient, music, experience all 5 stars.

Athyris

You'll need at least four hours to enjoy this spectacular garden which is built on an old limestone quarry. If you find yourself on Vancouver Island then this is a must, probably the most amazing garden we've ever visited.

Clark Johnson

This should be on everyone’s bucket list, judging on the crowds it is. I loved it and can’t wait to go again. The many shops range from original artisanal to cheap trinkets you think you can’t live without. Bring your camera and extra batteries, the photography opportunities are endless and mind blowing. You can bring a well behaved dog, don’t bring your Pit bull kids are everywhere.

denise chapman

Beautiful gardens... really one of the nicest ones I have ever been to.

Alex villota

Beautiful garden! A must have experience ????

Muhammad Rehan

The gardens are incredible. Definitely best Canada has to offer in terms of gardens. I had low expectations but the place was much larger than I expected.

Jaspreet Singh

When my wife told me she booked this excursion to Butchart Gardens I thought I would be bored ????. To my surprise, this is no ordinary garden, I absolutely loved every minute of the experience! Huge thank you sweetie ❤ for initiating this outing! Your the BEST! Mad props to the grounds keepers there you have created a magical place. Thank you!!!

Mark Hancheroff

Absolutely stunning! Go before 10 AM to avoid the crowds. Magnificent. Not to be missed. Enjoy tea at their home for a perfect day. Great gift shop and art store. Ample restrooms throughout the property.

Janice Robinson

This is art and perfection. Beautiful garden to visit

Wayne Fong

A beautiful garden. It’s big so do account that there will be a lot of people. This made things a little hectic and crowded. I went over the weekend and it was very busy but it’s the only way you’ll see the fireworks. The fireworks made it worth it though, I loved it! Do be sure to go for it early though so you get a good spot. It does get chilly when it’s dark, pack a sweater or blanket.

Kate Ritchie

Absolutely stunning. Worth every penny. Most beautiful gardens I have ever been to.

B C

The gardens were absolutely beautiful. It was a drizzly rain type of day which completely added to the ambience. Not only did they offer umbrellas for those that wanted them there were plenty of natural places to hide from under the rain. It was not very busy so we really felt like we had all the gardens to ourselves. They have a nice history and Sherrett with little plaques and photos throughout. Take the time to watch and look at the view from the docks down by the water. It is worth the little walk!

Meseret Ansaw

Absolutely stunning. Worth every penny. Most beautiful gardens I have ever been to.

Allen

Beautiful gardens, breathtaking views and eye watering landscaping.

Padmaja Rao

A must see on Vancouver island. Absolutely beautiful!

Marieta C.

Fantastic garden, so beautiful with a wide selection of flowers, along with many different types of gardens, coffee shops and two different restaurants followed by a gelateria, me and my family had a wonderful time and will be back soon.

Jess N

Like a fairytale! Everything was beautiful and blooming aside from the rose garden

Michelle Ho

The 2021 Christmas Display does not disappoint! Buy your coffee or hot chocolate at the start (The coffee shop by the fountain in the Sunken Garden is not open this year). There is a photo-op sleigh setup in the path up from the Sunken Garden which can be a lot of fun. The Carousel is running though, and for $2 per ticket, its an enjoyable little ride. The lights and 12 days of Christmas are truly enjoyable. The staff at Butchart's have put so much effort in to create a magical environment with a high degree of success. A job well done! Covid stuff: Proof of Vaccination is required for two of the sitdown restaurants. Masking is required while inside all buildings. If you're sick or supposed to be isolating; don't go, stay home.

Sara Poirier

This place is beautiful no matter the season. I recommend you take it low and enjoy the view. It more on the expense side. But if you need a place to clear your head, this is the place

Kolby Meyers

Absolutely stunning garden. Although a steep price to pay to look at nature, our family loved our time here. The girls enjoyed the ridiculous number of varieties in the rose garden and reading their names and where they're all from; I was particularly taken by the dahlia section - who knew there was such variation in size, shape, colour, and texture. Unfortunately the carousel was closed during our visit (due to covid?) but we made good use of the soft-serve ice cream next door.

Lori Z

Beautiful experience. Although I wish I remembered allergy medication for my kid!

Babak Yazdani

Great place to visit for budding photographers! (no pun intended). ???? The art and craft that goes into the arrangements is next level. Makes for great framing and composition in your shots.

Narine Harut

A gorgeous garden indeed. However I prefer a Garden with more lakes and ponds which could attract birds, and generate reflactions. We visited Butchart Garden in the early morning, just after its opening, some areas in the Gardens were heavily in shades. Gladly there are many beautiful pictures online. I am trying to upload a few photos that might provide a little different perspectives.

Luis Enrique Martinez

The Butchart Gardens never cease to impress. Expertly curated all year round and massive gardens. Staff are professional at every level. I even had one gardener take a few minutes to talk about the hedges and provide me with some ideas for my own garden. Incredible!

Sharda Persaud

One of the most beautiful and largest garden in BC. This is a must visit place if you are in Victoria. Its has mesmerizing and well maintained collection of gardens like Rose Garden, Japanese garden and My fav Italian garden. A few water fountains like dargon water fountain was a very unique sight.

Max Novich

Amazing garden, thousands of beautiful plants and flowers, really enjoyable place.

Michael Ledesma

An absolutely gorgeous setting that is well worth your time and $. I’d definitely aim to arrive at opening to maximise the space without the immense crowds. I arrived around 9am and only 1 car park was at capacity. When I left at 1pm, there was not a single space in the 5 car parks I could see from where I parked. If you’re travelling solo like me, get people to take some photos of you. Selfie sticks are banned, however I had a mini tripod style thing and was told it was ok. You’re not allowed to set something up and block traffic.

Oscar Velez

Went here back in 2020. This place is just awesome. The ice cream and flowers are fantastic.

Bri Winship

The attention to detail was amazing. Being able to talk to some of the staff was very educational. They let us know the work involved with the change of the seasons. Highly recommend if ever in Victoria.

Pup Dax

Lovely and GORGEOUS!! Our family of four, including an 11 and 8 year old boys loved our time here...which surprised us as parents. They enjoyed the carousel, the water fountains and they got into photographing the flowers. We whipped through it in 2 hours and stayed for the summer concert that evening which was fun with lots of people dancing and a fun old time nostalgic feel. We also had dinner in the cafe and the food quality was very good and fair pricing. If you love gardening and flowers you could easily spend half a day or more slowly taking it in, if you just appreciate the beauty it’s fun for a few hours like we did. Definitely one of the most exquisite gardens I’ve experience in my world travels!! We visited in late July, flowers were in full bloom, temps in the 70’a it was wonderful.

Richard Foisner

Beautiful place to spend a day. The different sections are a treat to feast your eyes on. The Sunken garden, Japanese garden and Italian gardens are my favorite.

Alexis T

We went for the Christmas light display - travelled from Vancouver just for this and I'm glad we did, it was incredible. Not only were the lights extensive and beautiful but the experience was made that much more exciting as we went hunting for the 12 gifts of Christmas.

Grasiela Martins Vicentini

What a gem! Not to be missed. The entire grounds are clearly a labour of love. Very impressive.

Paul Croes

Wonderfully kept gardens and delightful afternoon tea (with options for those vegetarian / gluten free). Also recommend a stroll down the adjacent Tod Inlet trail.

Julie Grondin

Not enough words to describe how gorgeous Butchart Gardens is. Very well-maintained, and a huge variety of blooms. I love how it's open year-round! Steep admission price but definitely worth it if you're into vibrant flowers and lush greens.

Nataliia Chudo

Marvelous place and very thoughtful mix of lights into the primary soul of Nature.

melisa bigler

A busy garden and a spot quite popular with tourists. Pretty easy to access via public transit, although there are your buses that will take you there from Victoria as well. The garden is beautiful and detailed, with information on flowers and umbrellas throughout (if needed) provided as well. The only demerit would be the price and the heavy emphasis on spending extra money inside, however it doesn't differ much from most tourist attractions in that sense.

Dean Derkson

What an absolutely FABULOUS family experience!! The Gardens are beautiful. Highly recommended!!

Gwynn Hughes

A little part of the garden is lighted with christmas theme. Its nice but nothing you have never seen before. I think that in summer is a great experience

Marta PK Video

An amazing amazing place. It's astonishing. Absolutely beautiful. If you like plants even a little. You will afore this place. The grounds are very well kept. The plants are stunning. There was a huge amount to see. And a ton of variety. We were on vacation and this was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip. You can also buy seeds in the gift shop. :) I would love to return here at some point.

Michael Demb

A stunning visit to Butchart Gardens in the fall. The site was ablaze with fall tree colours in all the primary colours. We were surprised when we found flowers still bright with colour. And fall harvest colours were in display too. Definitely showed us that Butchart Gardens is great to visit at any time of year. For all about our visit check out the RetiredAndTravelling blog post.

John Long

Amazing I've never seen such a large display of flowers. Expensive but they have 80 full time gardeners on staff and the grounds are impeccable! It must cost a fortune to maintain. Definitely worth your time and money. My son and husband were even impressed. It's taken me a few visits to get them to go, but it was a good family outing. Also lots of Poke stops (Pokemon Go) and Harry Potter Wizards Unite, Ingress portals, if you're into those games :)

Eleithia M.

Dogs are allowed; great viewing experience, friendly and informative staffs.

Andrea Lara

Always a great experience, year after year...The snow and lights definitely took it to a whole new level!

Abish Anklesaria

The place you must have to visit. It is diverse with tons of flowers from all over the world. The garden in more than 80 years, well maintained and can be visited even during Covid !!!

Nick Rong

Loved every minute of the 2.5 hrs in the garden. Absolutely stunning, the staff were fantastic and informative. I want to visit every season now! I visited on Oct 22 and the weather was perfect.

Ameer Subhi

Absolutely loved this experience. We went late in the season and although not everything was in bloom, still had an amazing time. This place is so neat, clean, and carefully planned which provides great views of each section. They are all wonderful displays of rich vibrant colors. The fountains are all beautiful including my fav, the dragon fountain. This place is like a floral Disneyland. Love love love and would strongly recommend a visit. We will definitely return! (I don't normally post pictures because I believe the funnest part of adventure is discovery but I'll post a few for this.)

Marina M

One of the best places I’ve ever seen! This gardens are located in Victoria,BC . I took a ferry from Vancouver to visit this place. This place mesmerized me! I literally don’t have words to express how beautiful it is, so I’ll upload some pictures, so you guys see how marvellous it is!

T

Very beautiful Christmas lights.

Shilpa

Such an amazing experience in the winter! We've been here many times in the summer over the years, transforming it into a holiday wonderland was spectacular too! We got lucky and parking and entry were a breeze, likely owing to our Xmas eve visit. We were able to get through the whole garden including a carousel ride in 90 minutes! The kids loved the hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights and random outbreaks of "The 12 Days of Christmas"

Talal Siddiqui

Rain or shine, the Butchart Gardens are magnificent. With many themed gardens: Italian, Japanese, Chinese. Check out the magnificent Totem poles and marvel at the magnificently manicured sunken garden. Great place for taking photos weather you're amateur or pro.

Manda Pyle

An amazing world class garden, gorgeous even in early November. A must see for visitors and locals. Lots to see, even my 4 year old remained engaged for our 2 hour walk. We enjoyed fresh sandwiches and pastries from the coffee shop ($$). The Christmas festivities are a great family affair as well!

Chuck Ferguson

Pricey experience for flowers. No mention of flower names, had to use app to identify flowers. Other than that it is a must stop for visiting Victoria. Very well designed especially the dancing fountain. Takes about 1hour to see everything maybe 1.5hrs with a slow party. Parking is included.

Shelby Arcay

Amazing experience!! Definitely worth visiting! Upgraded to an annual pass on the spot!

Marzieh Bashari

Absolutely beautiful collection of gardens. I especially enjoyed the Japanese garden, which included a beautiful assortment of greenery and creeks to walk around. Really nice leisurely outdoor activity

Sheri Osburne

So many different views. Great for photography, proposals, and sun tans. Bring a hat and sunscreen!

Lori McAfee

A wonderful place to spend with friends and family. The staff are very helpful and the gardens are wonderful year round. The Christmas light display is excellent, and we enjoyed the Christmas Dinner this past Christmas Day with the family. A very attentive staff and some very nice food. Price is what you would expect for such a high level of service, the location and the holiday. If you want to attend Christmas 2019, you will have to book as soon as they start taking bookings. We booked on the day they started booking (November 1st if I recall correctly) and it was sold out very quickly. Fireworks displays on Saturdays during the summer are excellent!

Cindy Bai

Lovely way to spend some time if you appreciate garden landscape design. Great little information boards on the original owner's vision and plan, and how it came to be. No doubt that every season puts on a show! Beautifully maintained and very well marked pathways to explore the different gardens. Gift shop, lunch and dinner and gelato available and accessible clean washrooms are easy to find. Pathways are wheelchair and baby stroller friendly. Covid protocols in place.

Marina B

One of the most lovely gardens I have ever experienced. A must see on any trip to Vancouver Island and Victoria. Numerous assorted gardens situated throughout this former quarry offer a visual and sensory delight. Restaurant features High Tea and local Westcoast cuisine.

Calvin Ngan

The Christmas lights experience was incredible! Lived here my whole life and have never been. It was so stunningly beautiful. In addition to our beautiful walk, we enjoyed a Carousel ride and dinner and desserts. A perfect family night out!

Kamalesh Kasinathan

So many different views. Great for photography, proposals, and sun tans. Bring a hat and sunscreen!

Jaspreet Saini

The best time to visit is the month of August after 4pm. The weather has cool down a bit. The sun is not to bright for pictures. You can enjoy the free concert. After concert walk trough the garden with beautiful lightning. Don’t forgot to take food with yourself because the food in there is not good and may you need a layer for after dark.

David Tye

Well organized with covid going on. Gardens were heavenly! Cafe didn't really have too many options! Very cafeteria style, we expected more... too basic. Parking was very organized.

Gloria Graf

Gorgeous gardens! The admission is a bit pricey but it is a must-visit. The flowers are beautiful and the themes are so interesting. I came here with my boyfriend and we did get lost for a bit as there are many paths. I would recommend wearing comfortable shoes as there is lots of walking involved. We also stopped to get some great gelato in the Italian garden.

Lori Humanitzki

Absolutely loved it! What a gorgeous, perfectly manicured gardens! We got to see Spring flowers. Want to go back during different season and spend a whole day there - walking and taking in all the sights and smells, taking tea break, walking again. And I would come again during Spring as well - want to bring our moms here too! The gardens were being expanded when we came (May 2019), so would love to see the expansion.

J M

It was stunning- our family loved it! The nine ladies dancing were just a little bit creepy. Like clowns sometimes are..

Charles Dokyung Kim

Very unique and beautiful gardens some of the best I have ever seen! So many different trees and flowers and so much colour!

Lauren Zhen

Paradise. This place is a flower/nature paradise. It is breathtaking and serene. Surely there is lots of walking to do here. You need time and a casual stroll, no need to hurry up, will do the trick. There is so much variety of flowers, it is simply mind-blowing. This place is beautifully done. Everybody wants some kind of landscaping in or around their houses, well, Butchart Gardens take the cake. One is simply in the lap of nature. My kids were tired but there is ice cream and other stuff to keep them entertained. This place should be treated like an afternoon walk or evening walk. Go with your partner or your friends, take a long stroll, enjoy the magnificence, talk about a multitude of things, take in the beauty and relish it and come out thoroughly satisfied by being in the lap of nature the entire time. It's a must visit if you are in Victoria, BC.

duane r neufeld

Absolutely gorgeous gardens. Not a lot of shade except in the areas around and in the Japanese Garden section, so be prepared with your preference of sun protection. The attention to detail in every section is just splendid, definitely worth the $36 adult admission. They also offer afternoon tea as well, which is a nice complement to a visit.

LDH RetiredAndTravelling

Wonderful place to come for a walk. The gardens are amazing. Beautiful way to pass a couple of hours and get some fresh air. Is pretty amazing to see how things can grow in the local climate. The cafe has good food and drink choices as well.

Lucy Fenn

Beautiful garden & scenery everywhere, highly recommend

Secretary BC Council

Lots of colorful scenes roses flowers etc Loved this place very well organized and managed however it’s bit pricey 36$ for adult so group of four will be close to 150$ for a 2 hours tour won’t be there again unfortunately

Sacalamachia

Worth every penny. Beautiful, very well maintained gardens. Do wear your comfortable shoes as there is plenty of walking. Do not miss if in Victoria.

James Fidler

the best garden I've ever been to! Highly recommended if you are a plant lover like us.

Girlynne Gascon

A beautiful pallette of lush colours, these lovingly cared for gardens are world renowned and a must see for travelers. The restaurants and gift shop are a joy and the staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely a treat for the senses and worth the price of admission. Also a great place to meditate.

Manpreet Dhillon

It’s amazing place so beautiful well organized looks like heaven I only give it 2 stars ⭐️ because it has a sign ???? asking for a proof of vaccination ???? for Covid 19 but no one ask you to show any proof you just show your ticket and go In ????

Mike Lynds

If I lived near The Butchart Gardens, I would most certainly purchase an annual pass and use it regularly. We visited during 'the time of Covid' and the staff at the entrance were thorough and excellent at describing the social distancing requirements. Even without scads of tourists on the day we were there, it was good to see parking lot attendants smoothing the flow of traffic. The various gardens were absolutely stunning. I didn't see anyone pruning or dead-heading, so elves must do it at night, because the beds were all perfect.

Bogdan Cojocaru

We had a great time here. It is a very beautiful and serene setting. To know it was once a rock quarry transformed into astonishing beauty is just an amazing thing to ponder. The coffee house was great, vegan friendly and very tasty. Nothing here was overpriced or pushed on you. I highly reccomend this place if you like a serene setting.

Gorgeous! Can’t wait to go back in the Spring! Fall Colours were amazing already

Ramesh END-POLIO Ferris

Rick Gosine

Gorgeous Garden. Must visit. Spectacular Xmas lights display. Nature's Paradise

Shanu Suthan

This place is amazing, such a beautiful place. I admired it the whole time I was there, I strongly recommend it for nature lovers. It is so organized specially the staff. They were there to answer questions at all times. A top to do while in Victoria.

Krista Hauser

This is Disney World for an avid gardener. The gardens are immaculate. The grounds are impeccably kept. The gift shop had so many unique items, including seeds. If you don't see everything the first day, keep your ticket and you can come back The next day for only $3. My favorite was the Japanese garden. So peaceful and tranquil. Absolute must see I'd you visit Victoria.

Melanie Hibi

Most magical place ???? loved all the lights. Highly recommend

prerna saha

Really nice and beautiful garden to visit specially during Christmas and new year as you can see beautiful lights and fireworks. If you are photographer this place is for you.

James Bytelaar

Been here many times. Christmas light display is excellent. A must see

Bea Shumey

Such an experience! We went in the Fall and it was beautiful, although I'd love to come back in the Spring to see the roses at their best. Would definitely recommend!

Josephine Norris

Stunning way to spend a whole day. Take a picnic or enjoy an afternoon tea. The summer season yields concerts and fireworks. Japanese garden and the sunken garden are highlights. Well worth the price of admission!

Amber Steeves

One of the coolest botanical gardens I have ever been to. The weather cooperated which made the sightseeing even more fun. The walk was excellent and the view was spectacular. I surely recommend checking this place out as this is one of the famous gardens to go to in Victoria. I will surely be back here when I visit Victoria again.

Alisa Hammond

Probably the most beautiful gardens I've ever visited, and I am not even exaggerating. The variety of plants and flowers alone made me excited; they're just blooming everywhere you look! The massive space is also a great way for tourists to take their time strolling along the nice pathways while being marveled with the beauty of the gardens. The place is definitely great for picture taking, and the vibrancy of the place makes you appreciate the nature even more.

Vasily Domashev

Visited on a trip to Victoria. I was blown away by all the different types of flowers throughout the gardens. The Rose garden was my favorite place, the fragrant beauty was wonderful. The Japanese garden was also stunning, everything was so peaceful in that space. I will absolutely visit again.

MEHDI ZAHED

The Butchart Gardens are beautiful, but not worth the fiasco of getting there for our "timed" appointment. We book online for this, leave extra early, only to be stuck on the road into the gardens because the entry was chaotic and not well thought out. There was no indication that anything was timed, and the signs regarding social distancing was ignored by most in attendance. Definitely won't be back!

Michael Priddy

The Butchart Gardens but I will call it The Eden Garden. This place is truly stunning and we spent over two hours walking through every garden. The garden is split up into multiple sections with a specific theme for the plants. A true masterpiece of nature. Breathtaking views of spring blossom. The best garden on the planet. It is magnificent in spring. The abundance of colors makes this place so unique.

Avi Shany

Nice place with beautiful flowers. You need energy if you want to explore the whole garden

Chris Baker

Gorgeous park with different gardens from various countries. A must see if you have 2 to 3 hours to spent. Highly recommend the gelato place located in the Italian garden at the end of the tour.

Candace Galligan

Loved the gardens!! So many beautiful spots to explore. I only wish that they didn’t have the ‘mask on’ at all times policy as there were so few people and everyone was maintaining social distancing!

RC Strain

A super interesting one to check out. The staff all say hello, and the gardens are magnificent. It was also very nice that there were handicap friendly routes. Very very busy place, so be ready to bump into people with all sorts of walking paces!

S. Johnson

Never been there before I enjoyed it my wife loved it

Suzie Grant

It was simply great! Definitely must visit if you are in Victoria.. I didn't buy an annual pass, but next time I will. It will have different beauty in different seasons.

Tapan Shatapathy

Who doesn't love butchart gardens?? My family has had seasons passes this year and it's the perfect Saturday morning activity (year round). We love to bring our dogs for a walk through the gorgeous garden loop and look forward to seeing a completely new view every couple of weeks!

Leonard Erlandson

One of the most beautiful classic gardens on the country. The Japanese garden manages to be serene even as multiple groups wander it's paths. It is definitely my favourite garden, though the sunken garden is breathtaking! Despite being busy, the gardens still offer small moments and spaces where you are alone and marvelling at the beauty that can be created by man's hands.

Nivaldo (Nyko461)

So many varieties of flowers! The sunken garden is absolutely breathtaking! The Japanese garden is very tranquil. Two hours is not enough time to really see it all. The two gift shops are quite nice as well. A nice selection of souvenirs and art. If I lived here, I would definitely get the yearly pass.

Jhona Umali

Beautiful gardens and well maintained! A must-see at least once for everyone and many times if you love flowers and trees. There’s a lovely gift shop with many unique items. We went mid-week and it’s was pretty crowded. Plenty of parking available on-site.

Gordon Sjodin

Such a beautiful place, looks and smells amazing! Strongly recommend. Suggest to go earlier in the morning for a less crowded experience.

ahmed alsunni

I absolutely adore Butchart Gardens and highly recommend going. One piece of feedback for admin: despite timed tickets for December 2021, it was still *very* crowded and that made it difficult to enjoy the visit.

J.D. Taylor

A large, exceptionally beautiful garden, meticulously maintained. It can get crowded but we were fortunate to visit when there were very few people and it was a delight. The people working there were very friendly and willing to answer our questions about the plants.

Thomas Clemmer

Wow. Wow. Wow. We were hesitant about this place to start because who would pay over $30 to visit a bunch of flowers? But O.M.G. it was incredible. Even for someone who is not much of a horticulture buff, you can appreciate the natural and man made beauty of the gardens - both colour and design are truly works of art. The Japanese gardens were my absolute favourite; a complete haven in the BC countryside. So worth a visit, you can see why this place is world renowned.

Moj Noroozi

Stunning place!! Even off season (Corona season I mean..) Highly recommended !! Can definitely spend 3 hours there enjoy all the beautiful garden! Gelato place was amazing!!

Barry Starlighter

The gardens are amazing So colorful and well maintained Must visit in Victoria

norma m

This place is AMAZING. I've never seen such a well tended publicly accessible garden. The variety of colors and the thoughtful way they're planted is breathtaking. The rose garden alone is worth the price of admission. Plan on spending a whole afternoon to get time to see it all!

Amey Bhalerao

Very beautiful Christmas lights.

Dilmer Minano

Go when it's not tourist season. Wait until almost closing to see the sunken gardens. Literally no one is there. High tea is worth the cost. Just a beautiful place!

Elizabeth Larson

Amazing place, variety of plants. Looks fantastic and it smells so good there. Nice place to take a wonderful pictures especially for girls

David Lewis

I’m torn between really liking this place and wanting to never go back. Everyone must visit here if they are on Vancouver Island, no question. But please take note that it is heavily trafficked and everyone is taking pictures of everything. I beg visitors to please put their phones away and look at the marvels in front of them. Really feel the path beneath their feet and smell the complex variety of scents that waft the atmosphere. There are professional images online that people may purchase and this saves anyone from having pressure to capture their own. I think the park should implement a device free visiting hour or afternoon. This would greatly enhance a visitor’s experience who only wants to be witnessing the space that is not obstructed by electronics.

Pam Ninness

The Butcher Gardens is a must see in Victoria. It was absolutely gorgeous and breath taking. Me & my family enjoyed looking at the flowers, learning about them, walking around and taking amazing photos. Had a great experience being here, I would definitely come back again.

Randy Caputo

Absolutely stunning garden. Although a steep price to pay to look at nature, our family loved our time here. The girls enjoyed the ridiculous number of varieties in the rose garden and reading their names and where they're all from; I was particularly taken by the dahlia section - who knew there was such variation in size, shape, colour, and texture. Unfortunately the carousel was closed during our visit (due to covid?) but we made good use of the soft-serve ice cream next door.

J T

Beautiful garden & scenery everywhere, highly recommend

noah robinson

You can spend a great day at Buchart, the gardens are beautiful, they have live music, lots to do for kids, restaurants and gift shops, and on Saturdays they have a one of a kind fireworks show which is pretty spectacular. It's a 30 min fireworks theatre like show, it's worth the entry fee if you can make a day if it with the fireworks. Bring blankets for this, there is a grassy hill for watching but gets damp in the evenings.

Eloho S. Sido

We went for a visit early this November. Not a lot of flowers, but the beauty of the gardens are so amazing. Looking forward to a Christmas visit and an early spring visit. Cant wait to see the rose garden

Steven Ma

Amazing place suuuuper epic. Best place to bring a date

Clare Jones

Beautiful place with fascinating history & amazing house made gelato. The gift store had lots of reasonably priced local goods! The gardens are absolutely stunning, other then an abundance of people this place is a true paradise

Sydney R.

Olivia Covarrubias

Don’t miss that place if you’re visiting Victoria. The garden is full of peace and colourful scenery and of course gorgeous flowers and plants.

Matthew Paugh

One of the best gardens I have ever seen. Have no words to describe its beauty. Visited in the first week of September; flowers were in full bloom. I would give 10 stars 10/10 and much more. It's huge and very very beautiful. Great to spend 4-5 hours if one loves flowers, greenery and nature. It's mesmerizing to see so many marvelous flowers. The pictures should say it all. It's much more beautiful than the pictures and have to be witnessed in its full bloom. Lots of parking places. Very nice cafeteria right at the entrance. Beautiful shops too. An absolute must visit for all.

Ashwani Chopra

I'm not even a garden or flower person (thanks, allergies!) and yet even then I loved my visit here. All the flower exhibits were well put together amongst a scenic backdrop of towering trees and trickling waterfalls. The flowers were all in great shape and the grass was probably the best I'd seen. There were many cafes and restrooms conveniently placed around the gardens, too.

corinne ghelber

--SPRING edit Butchart Gardens isn't as stunning in the spring as it is in the summer. We arrived March 30 and it was too early to see the spring bulbs and blossoms. Still nice but not as jaw dropping. Did a fun easter bunny hunt with my daughter. Great way to spend family time. Breathtaking in the summer time and well worth the drive. The floral displays were magnificent in July and we spent almost 3 hours there trying to explore everything. This garden is humongous and organized according to geography and theme. The food court food wasn't the greatest and it was expensive but that was to be expected. The roses were my fave. They smelled amazing!! A must see tourist locale.

Alyssa Litowsky

Loved it here ❤️ Very well cared for grounds and lots to see. I was here 42 years ago and it brought back a flood of wonderful memories. I hope to return again in the next couple of years ❤️ Thank you to all who have made this place possible ????

Pam J

A beautiful garden with lots of paths and plenty of open space. Though there were tons of people in the park it didn't feel overwhelmingly crowded. There were plenty of things to see and corners to discover.

Tere Arboleda

Beautiful. Great walk through the lit gardens. Very well done and a great for the family. We will be back for sure. The ride on the carousel with our son was perfect.

Mina Al

The beauty is unbelievable. So tranquil. The sunken garden is truly a make of art. So much love has gone into this entire creation. A must see for everyone.

까망사과

We visited the garden in July. It looks beautiful, but I think it is overpriced. There are a few different areas in different styles (Japanese garden, rose garden, etc), but overall not much to do. On a hot day, like we had, there are barely any places where you can hide from the sun just to cool down. We were there on the weekend, and it was very crowded. Most of the paths are quite narrow and you have to keep on moving to avoid blocking other people behind. I gave it 3 stars based on value-for-money criteria. Overall, this is a beautiful garden.

Rohit Malik

Beautiful, stunning, breathtaking. Garden worth the visit. Lots of parking. Well organized.

Local Contributor

Beautiful place to visit in Summer. I won’t recommend it during winter because it was cold and you can’t see flowers and the very green look of the garden. I will come to see it in summer for sure

Joanna Dee

Such a gorgeous place. Would go again in a heart beat.

Anthony Mai

Great place to visit all year round - i was in summer and it was just gorgeous. Flowers everywhere and well taken care of. Plenty of photo opportunities. Awesome family-oriented place. It was crowded during our visit but we arrived in the afternoon, so i would recommend going early in the day.

Bill Jensen

The loveliest place ever visited in Victoria

Vanessa Leal

Was not impressed to pay to be greeted by an employee at a turnstile with no mask on demanding my parties tickets, and then shouting in my parties face that they can enter one by one through the turnstile as he scanned our tickets (At least your employees could show respect by wearing a mask, even if not required outside, when they are controlling people within arms reach and spitting distance). There was no requirement for vaccination cards as this was 'mainly' an outdoor crowded event. Why even have people working the front gate if your concerned someone is hiding in the trunk to get a free ride? Maybe people jump the fence and you need that extra level of security? Over crowded Christmas light 'reservations', the operator of the carousel was hiding behind plexiglass rightfully so, as unmasked people came and went into the building with no vaccination card requirements, zero sanitation to any of the equipment was viewed as hundreds of people entered and left the building. There was sanitizer station at the exit but it was evidently empty from the comments of riders leaving! The lights are all super bright LED now throughout the gardens displays, painful to some eyes, blurry to others. Years gone past the displays were glowing and cheerful, now they are in your face and distracting. Not surprising we could see the centralized glow radiating into the sky from West Saanich Road as we navigated to the gardens...Would like to see the brightness turned down from disco effect to holiday cheer. Very disappointed, not the enjoyable experience we have had in 20+ years of visiting the gardens.

Mike Wagner

The most beautiful and exquisite place to visit! Nothing else on Vancouver Island measures up to the beauty of the Butchart Gardens. The tickets are expensive, and the gardens are pretty small, so if you are up for it, go visit the Japanese Garden and the Rose Gardens more than once. It'll definitely be worth seeing if a second time. The Sunken Gardens were beautiful too.

P A

Garden was beautiful but I wish it offered more things to see for the price. I believe the price was $35.99. I been to better botanical gardens and the hype around this isn't all that. Still good place to chill if you are in the town and dont mind wasting some $. Garden is definitely well maintained and nice family park.

Jackie W

Beautiful place. Lots of flowers. Must see

Hex “Diamond” Ultima

Beautiful Christmas lights and the12 days of Christmas scenery and carousel ???? gift shop

Nick Rusch

Went for the Holiday Lights Display and wow did they ever do an Excellent job. Its stunning and romantic they have a beautiful dining room there where you could have dinner before or after but reserve early i think they book up fast. There's an entrance fee to get into the park but its well worth it!

Amara Hulslander

First time visitor. Stunned by the beauty and relaxing atmosphere. You have to take the boat ecotour to see additional history and beauty. Would have love to swim to the beach. Stay for the concert if you have a chance. What a perfect end of the day. Bought lots of seeds. Wish I could spend several days to walk slowly and appreciate at the finer details. Took soooooo many pictures. Parking is great. Facilities are immaculate. Ground are well groomed. Great place for everyone. Food is okay, a bit pricey so bring in your own. Can't wait to come back.

Dave Critchley

It is a very nice garden but seems like there are lots of rules. But it is worth the trip and is beautifully maintained! Parking was a breeze as there were lots of people guiding parking traffic which was very good!!

Laura Strickland

A must go for everyone on the Island. Honestly I didn’t know how big the garden was, budget a few hours to see and take it the beauty

Sophie Wu

Another beautiful garden which reminds me of Van Dusen Garden (although three times cheaper). Me and my wife went there and for the first time we found roses in full bloom (I myself am visiting for the second time). I really liked the Japanese garden and the Italian garden.

Cas Con

Beautiful place. Lots of flowers. Must see

Mahsa Ghaffari

The generos beauty of the nature and the artistic know how of the humans in love with flowers, colors and harmony resulted in this breath taking garden. It's beauty never fade, not even in winter. Do go and visit it, you will be great full and happy!

Svetlana Reid

Beautiful gardens. Even my 5 year old son had a good time here. The only downfall was the adult ticket price which at $38 each I found a little bit steep. We did enjoy ourselves though and glad we checked it out before leaving the island.

Sandy MacElheron

36 dollar entry fee per person and 10 bucks for veggie sandwiches at the coffee shop may seem a little steep for an outdoor garden, but it is very beautiful. We and another family happened to start and finish the gardens at the exact same time of 2 hours and 45 minutes by pure coincidence. You'll see really beautiful insects once inside. If covid wasn't going on, I am sure this place could be annoyingly busy during the summer. It is borderline must see in Victoria.

Shaun Cui

Highly recommended for nature lovers… Entry fee is little high but worth to visit for sure..

Flo Esmeralda

I would have your wedding here.

F Daniel N

Holiday light show exceeded my expectations. Did not read many reviews before going, so did not know ahead of time that the show is themed around the 12 Nights of Christmas, and so each scene was a delight to discover. We went after 8 PM so we could bring our dog and I would recommend that with or without dog, as it didn’t seem as crowded that late. Sound-responsive tree was mind-blowing and one of the many highlights. Fantastic large gift store, but we barely had time to explore it since they were near closing time by the time we finished walking the garden. Bought some flower seeds though, very friendly staffer gave tips on planting. Can’t wait to visit in spring or summer!

Karen B

Absolutely love every corner of the garden!!! Not only the obvious set up but also the details. I also found a bunch of rare spices I have never seen before. And the tropical greenhouse! I wish my tiny greenhouse looks like this!

Shan Susan Huang

I went with a friend. It's the same theme for Xmas each year. It would be nice to see a different theme. But it is still worth the travel time.

Indira Hays

Vegan afternoon tea, highly recommend. Gorgeous place, can't wait to visit in other seasons.

Juli Bobman

A must for all visitors! Every season offers a different look/style. The annual pass option is nice if you plan on coming multiple times. These pictures are from June 2019 (rose garden was in bloom!)

Sarah Pearce

It was such a beautiful and relaxing way to spend a day! Gardner's there are volunteers and put their heart into caring for the gardens!

YardpigTSI

One of the best places to see the nature closely.if you are nature lover then you should go.

Hine King

Seen in summer and fall .. fall is at its best IMO. Beautiful British Columbia starts from this garden..

emma parry

A 'must See's in Victoria! You don't have to know a thing about botany, flowers, or Butcharts. It's an old limestone quarry run to retirement by her husband - resurrected by the Mrs. as a 'garden' (in the formal sense) and probably generating more revenue than Portland Cement ever achieved. The place is spectacular; 2-3 hours worth - NATURAL, no Disneyland.

Rosalind Gardner

One of the must see place in Victoria. The entry is expensive but it is well worth it!!! Transit is good so even if you don't have a car, you can still get here

Stephen Betz

Words would never be enough to describe this beautiful place. All I can say that you will understand what I mean when you do visit this place. Hint: summer is the best place to enjoy this marvelous wonderful garden. I visited at spring. Though the weather was nice but they only got half of the flowers blooming (even that it was still beautiful).

Jeff Wooden

I wish I could give even more stars. If you only visit one place in Victoria, make it the Butchart Gardens. Breathtakingly beautiful! The pictures can only give you an idea. You must visit in person. You will not regret it.

Aaron D

A must-see attraction in Victoria BC! The Butchart Gardens is the gem of our trip, our whole family thoroughly enjoyed the visit! The Sunken Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Carousel are our favourites. Incredible floral and plant arrangements using only the local and everyday plants. The colours, texture and varieties of plant species were overwhelmingly beautiful! They now have summer concert and Saturday fireworks too. Make sure to keep your day ticket and come back at night time (for free), the look and feel is completely different!

Lei W

When I retire, I want to live here! The history and story behind this property will warm your heart! It's an unbelievable experience and I would recommend taking your time strolling through. This is definitely a garden that you're not going to soon forget! There is a restaurant here, as well as a coffee counter with snacks and drinks.

Jason Osland

We had a great time here. It is a very beautiful and serene setting. To know it was once a rock quarry transformed into astonishing beauty is just an amazing thing to ponder. The coffee house was great, vegan friendly and very tasty. Nothing here was overpriced or pushed on you. I highly reccomend this place if you like a serene setting.

Liz

What a beautiful garden, landscaping was well thought of and you can see and appreciate how well the place is maintained. Maybe a little pricey but you’ll know why once you get in, it’s worth every penny you paid.

Dee Dee

Christmas lights in Butchart gardens are extradionary, it's open till 9PM everyday. Me and my family had a nice walk around the garden. Overall a nice experience.

Tiasa Basu Roy

Absolutely stunning. Not too crowded with covid measures in place. Very well run & organized for visitor safety.

Wally Muzlantov

The Butcher Gardens is a must see in Victoria. It was absolutely gorgeous and breath taking. Me & my family enjoyed looking at the flowers, learning about them, walking around and taking amazing photos. Had a great experience being here, I would definitely come back again.

Mark Wiseman

Superb experience in October. Perhaps the best garden I've ever seen. Followed by high tea at their restaurant.

Jennifer Knotts

Thought this place was amazing. Even though a huge snow storm hit this place the week prior. They did a lot to move snow out of the walkways. Still a very beautiful place. Would love to come back late spring/summer for the full effect. Did see the indoor flowers that had several orchids, daffodils and many other beautiful flowers. We had High Tea that was delicious and fancy!! Great friendly service. The gift shop has lots of fun and interesting items to check out. Cant say enough about the whole experience.

Steve Morgan

A very beautiful place, visited during the quarantine period, everyone on the street must wear a mask and even to take a photo, the mask is not allowed to be removed, even if there are no people nearby. Not many people to visit. I definitely recommend visiting this beautiful garden, immersed in greenery and flowers.

Carrier Family

One the beautiful place in British Columbia. The ticket for adult costs me 31 dollars. The best time to go their is in summer or fall. But the money is worth spending there.

Alexandra Kucharski

Amazing place to visit in Vancouver island. I loved to go there. When there you must to go. A lots beautiful pictures I did. I highly recommend ❤????????????

Lukas N

Butchart Gardens is worth it! I’m not really a garden fan, but you really appreciate the efforts of the groundskeepers and landscapers here. There’s always something in bloom. Going through the gardens, you’ll read about the history of the area, an old quarry that’s made into something beautiful. There will be many tourists around you, and the place gets busy, but it’s big enough where you can find your own quiet corner to relax in. Everywhere you turn, you’ll see different colors of plants in bloom. The varieties are endless and the displays change seasonally. The entrance fee might seem a little steep (hence the minus one star), but it’s worth a visit!

James d

My wife really liked this place

Julie Wilson

This was a nice place to visit. You could spend an entire day here; i.e., if you take your time. The garden is divided in different region (like flowers from other part of the world). I would recommend coming during the fall season (we came 2nd week of October), when the leaves changes color (of course with the exception for evergreens). If you like taking photos, then this is a great place. If you have a smart phone with a good camera feature, then you're set. I would've brought my DSLR, but I decide not to and just enjoy the scenery. This is a large garden so take you're time. Btw, the staff were quite friendly, some educated us on the different flowers/plants.

Kelsey Burns

Fantastic garden. Beautiful sites and on a nice and sunny day, very relaxing. Pretty quiet if you go in the morning at opening.

Mohamed Niang

Its a perfect time to visit. No tour buses, so crowds are small. Its very easy to social distance, and the staff is very conscious of making sure everything goes well.

Cindy Tang

We made a reservation for 5:15 & arrived at least 20 minutes early. Despite this it took us 70 minutes to get to the gate! This was mainly due to the confusion and numbers of cars at the Wallace drive intersection. There was nobody doing traffic control. This caused a great deal of frustration. Once inside we were disappointed to see that there was no skating, no carolers and no hot chocolate on the route. The light displays although lovely were all the same as previous years. Nothing new. It simply wasn't worth the $33. We won't be returning anytime soon.

Saravana Moorthy

If you like gardens, it’s worth the money in my opinion. The variety of plants is astounding. It was a beautiful place to spend an afternoon.

Benjamin Widish

Absolutely loved it! What a gorgeous, perfectly manicured gardens! We got to see Spring flowers. Want to go back during different season and spend a whole day there - walking and taking in all the sights and smells, taking tea break, walking again. And I would come again during Spring as well - want to bring our moms here too! The gardens were being expanded when we came (May 2019), so would love to see the expansion.

Habibah Elbira

One of the most beautiful gardens I've ever seen and I can't wait to go back. I will be taking a lot more pictures next time.

Farzana Haque

The loveliest place ever visited in Victoria

Jossana Haas

I have been at Butchart Gardens several times. I tried to be there in each season expect winter means Christmas time. The place has peaceful ambiance means You can really charge your batteries. During the pick season you have to be there early in the morning. Sometimes lines to the Gardens are lengthy. Food on the side and souvenir shops (no junks). Any time of the day is good for photos.

Sophia K

Wonderful venue. Definitely worth a visit whenever you’re in Victoria. We loved it so much signing up for annual memberships was a no brainer. There are lots of cafes here too so kids can take breaks and recharge there. Highly recommended!

Justin Veenema

Great time of year to go for a visit. Their COVID protocols are right on, and the lack of tourism at the moment translate into having the place pretty much to yourself. Two of the cafes (Main entrance and at the carousel) are still open and serve basic fares, and the store is open for business. The carousel is closed for obvious reasons during these COVID times. I have visited Butchart Gardens many times and the lack of people, while not ideal for business I am sure, made this last time quite remarkable. I highly encourage local people to go and support the gardens, this outing is a perfect is an ideal thing to do during COVID and military people still get in for free.

Molly Purcell

It's a beautiful experience. Amazing landscaping, variety of flowers, maintenance and ambience. Never saw anything better. Don't miss the fountains. Entry ticket is a bit expensive.

Frank Hannig

Wow. Way better than I expected. It's easy to see why this is a multi million dollar extravaganza. Flowers , grounds ,everything is a blaze of colour wherever you look. The grounds are immaculate. I dare you to find a weed. Maps and flower identifier brochures are helpful if your into that aspect of gardening. There are even free umbrellas to use on the grounds.

Richard N. Weeks

The Butchart Gardens is a must visit for anyone and everyone visiting Victoria British Columbia. The gardens are one of the most beautiful in all of Canada. Visiting in early summer will ensure you get the best experience. From the superbly maintained grounds to the unlimited colors you will enjoy your entire time. It is nearly impossible not to capture a picture that you wont want to print and frame.

Nathanael Siaoman

Such an experience! We went in the Fall and it was beautiful, although I'd love to come back in the Spring to see the roses at their best. Would definitely recommend!

Jermaine Adeyinka

I had a good time with my family in the safe instructions.

Bhargavi Panjala

Very lovely. Staff was attentive to their job. Only downside, I found it oddly expensive. Other than that, amazing experience

Dustin Erdman

Beautiful Christmas display. The lights were phenomenal. Incredibly busy, even during the week, I found the employees in the gift shop to be a bit pushy, and it is quite expensive. If you are visiting from out of town, or haven't been before, it's worth going.

Lee Burton

Pay $35 to be bombarded by families and tourists waving you on as you try to look at flowers because the 1000s of pictures that they will never look at are more important then anyone else taking in beautiful gardens. Would have been a great location pre cellphones. Needs a locals discount.

Tanya Ma

Beautiful Christmas lights and the12 days of Christmas scenery and carousel ???? gift shop

Ali-Jourdan Barnhard

Great family friendly space for winter evenings. Wonderful service for a wheelchair user. It’s too bad the crowds (outdoors) were sometimes tricky to navigate with the narrow pathways in the dark.

Cameron Fraser

It was great. At least a 4 stair.

Jena

A bit pricey, almost $25, especially for the winter months when not much is in bloom, but a great way to spend a day. The advantaged is that it wasn't very busy. We didn't have to fight our way through the pathways and was able to take pictures without waiting for people to move. I highly recommend it as a way to spend the day, but to be honest, VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver is just as good and almost 1/2 the price

B.w. Jinxing

An absolute must see beautiful gardens. We were there in the fall when all the fall colors were ripe. We plan to come back for spring colors. Beautiful secluded spots. Wide open vistas.

Bumblebee

Their Christmas light display is outstanding!! We often go and see Christmas light displays in different cities but these were like nothing we had ever seen before! You will not be disappointed.

Asif Akand

Stunning gardens, profoundly beautiful arranged and exceedingly well-kept. We took our time and needed about three hours to walk through. However, with $36 entrance fee comparatively high.

Roy Bradfield

We were there for the Christmas Gardens as part of my 50th birthday getaway. We have only been once before, separately, many years apart. It was BEAUTIFUL!! I can't wait to go back when the gardens are blossoming ❤️

Scott Williams

Beautiful Gardens with several different themes all for one entrance fee. We took the suggest route in the provided map and strolled through all the gardens. The themes are distinct and vibrant. It was a great afternoon well spent.

Rach C

Gorgeous place too visit definitely a must go when in the area! The japenese Garden was my personal favorite but there is tons of other places that we didn't even make it to in one day! Definitely need another visit lol The food was super good and service was pristine! I would totally reccomend this place for all ages as its fun too walk around and see all the waterfalls, flowers, plants and Trees!

Amanda Helderman

I wasn't sure what to expect when we arrived, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well maintained and gorgeous the gardens were. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And although there were a lot of people, I felt that there was enough space for everyone!! Even better, it is dog friendly!.

Justin Harden

Amazing time and extremely friendly staff at the high tea. We went at the end of the day and as long as you enter before 4pm you can stay until 5pm. There was barely anyone roaming around after 4pm.

Harsha Patel

Butchart Gardens in the winter never disappoints. No matter how many Christmases we go. Beautiful lights, nice walk. Thankful for set times and less capacity so you don't feel so rushed or crowded.

Lo La

Absolutely beautiful garden, and wonderful flowers, ill give you that. Maybe not the best place to bring your children to, my little sister and I found it absolutely boring back then. In my opinion, the products of the gift shop are a tad overpriced.

Ishtiaque Shahrier

One of the most beautiful classic gardens on the country. The Japanese garden manages to be serene even as multiple groups wander it's paths. It is definitely my favourite garden, though the sunken garden is breathtaking! Despite being busy, the gardens still offer small moments and spaces where you are alone and marvelling at the beauty that can be created by man's hands.

k d

We went for the Christmas light display - travelled from Vancouver just for this and I'm glad we did, it was incredible. Not only were the lights extensive and beautiful but the experience was made that much more exciting as we went hunting for the 12 gifts of Christmas.

Arlene WM

Mind-blowing garden, it's an hour's drive approx from downtown, BC transit buses also ply to the gardens. It's amazingly beautiful and calm. Washrooms are present through out the garden, carry water bottle if you can. There is an ice cream coffee cafe, some eating joints within the garden. Staff was very friendly, we kept our backpack at the information centre for free. The entry fee is a bit expensive at 36 CAD but then totally worth it. There are various sections in the garden, Japanese, Italian, rose, sunken garden and a beautiful fountain show. I am sure you'll love it.

Matt D Aka Watery

The beauty of this place brings you back to life.

Kinjal Shah

There is not a more beautiful place to visit near Victoria, BC.

Shaira Duante

Beautiful flowers. Very well maintained. Variety of roses

Duy Nguyen

What is there to say other than it is well worth the price of admission. Go early and spend the whole day and you won't be disappointed. A veritable Garden Lovers delight. My favourite was the Japanese Garden.

Marty Pearson

Lights, lights, LIGHTS! My Sister, Nephew, his wife and their baby, came to visit as I AM IN palative radiation treatments for cancer... BEAUTIFUL!! In the summer Butchart is breathtaking and wonderful, but they don't let winter steal the thunder! During the Christmas Holidays they create a BEAUTIFUL walk-through wonderland of music and lights! Don't miss it.

Eileen Zapshala

Excellent time during the Christmas lights this year, can't wait to return to see the garden in full bloom!

Andrew Pang

AMAZING!! We absolutely loved it and it was so incredibly magical

Mansher Dhillon

Had an awful experience with an employee that wouldn't let my friend in and sent her to the front gate. She tried to get in and they wouldn't let her in. She tried to move to the side so other people could pass but the employee kicked her stroller and stopped her from moving. Her kid is screaming cause the employee was being aggressive. The directions to places are awful due to random fences blocking the way. The whole night was ruined the kid screamed the whole time, we didn't enjoy our visit and I don't plan on coming back

Cory Jasper

I imagine this is what heaven looks like! What a magical place! Beauty every which way you look! It was almost overwhelming! Loved it so much! High tea was delicious and such a fun experience. The gardens are pristine, so well care for! We will be back! Make sure to reserve your tea time a few days in advance online. They are quite busy.

Rachel P

Butchart Garden is my favourite garden to visit every time I went to the island. Every corner could be a beautiful picture. The color combination and the variety of plants will definitely amaze every visitor here.

Princess Leah

Was absolutely amazing. Once is definitely not enough. Would love to go back at different times of the year to see everything

Junyao Li

Wow! What an experience. Beautifully organized event.

Shannon Jones

I've never seen so many tulips at one time!!!! They are open under Covid rules, and we received 2 tickets for each year long pass that we could not use last year.

Michael Swanson

Always a great place to spend a couple hours. Remember during the Christmas period only go at night because of the lights. BTW the coffee is getting better. One thing though, for the locals that come all the time, maybe add some new features...

Kathie Lewis

Nice place with beautiful flowers. You need energy if you want to explore the whole garden

Paul Lopatka

What a great place! Been there both in the summer for the fireworks and that was absolutely amazing as well as for the 12 days of Christmas displays. Had a great time and tons of fun looking for all 12 days display. Absolutely worth going at anytime of the year, you will not be disappointed! Don't forget to check out the Cafe for a nice warm drink before heading to tour the garden and check out the great gift store. Plenty of goods including seeds that is used in the gardens! Perfect for family, dates as well as out of town guests.

Sam M

Nice staff, nice garden. Flowers are repeated a lot in the actual gardens. Numerous bare spots. Mocha coffee and latte were terrible - too sweet. Price ok for personal pictures, otherwise too expensive.

Alisa Sha

Absolutely loved Butchart Gardens! It has been on my list for a couple years since moving to BC and I'm so grateful I was able to make it! It was the week after the heat dome, so it was still pretty warm, but it was still a great visit. The staff here were very friendly and aware of any COVID related rules and regulations. The Gardens took us about two and a half hours to see everything and relax in between. Definitely worth the trip if you're in the area!

Lorna Macey

Amazing Christmas lights, and we were lucky to have a dry and relatively warm night. The theme is always the 12 Days of Christmas traditional song. Great gardens and good facilities. Crowded but never overwhelming. They ensure you get in and out without drama.

Jason Yee

Fantastic place to spend the day long with family or friends. I visit it to see the real roses beauty all almost kinds. The staff where friendly and all around to coordinate and help out. We’ve gotten it for ~ 70 (2 adults + 3 kids below 5 years) These is limited food options inside, so it might be a good idea to bring your own lunch. There is no issues in the parking, easily park and navigate. All in all, we had a great time and I can recommend it for my family and friends.

Average Shmo

This place is the heaven on earth. A must visit in Victoria. Highly recommended!

Rae H

Beautiful place. Bursts of color around every turn and amazing fountains in hidden alcoves. The grounds are perfectly maintained and plants artfully arranged. There are also about a million people all shuffling down single file paths to see it all, many of them noisy and constantly stopping everyone for a photo. Go and be amazed by the gardens but be aware that you are sharing the experience with a few thousand of your closest friends.

Gargi Macwan

Absolutely beautiful gardens!! High tea was delightful! My only negative was how busy all the gardens were...so if you don't enjoy crowds, not the spot for you!

Jordan Trachsel

Piece of heaven on earth

Dean B

Christmas light were super pretty. Best lights by far

Kastytis Sileika

So far nothing spectacular here and the crowds are rude and pushy. There is a lot of grass lawn for a flower garden and not enough washrooms. From the English Garden at Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba I post photos of more variety, more interesting arrangements, more fountains and more accessible to everyone who loves colorful fragrant flowers and plants. There is no such variety or accessibility at Butchart. Don't waste your hard earned money. All the flowers here are seen for free in any free park in Vancouver, North Van, Victoria or your backyard.

Angela S.

Very beautiful. It takes at least 2 hours to view the entire park. I liked the map that they give near the entry point which helps a lot.

Antonia Matousekova

Best place to see heaven on earth.

Cynthia van Ieperen

This place has been on my bucket list for years and it did not disappoint. Even in the Fall the plants were stunning. Walking up to the Sunken Garden was an emotional experience. Absolutely beautiful! Lots to see, the dining choices were fabulous and the gift shop was full of a variety of items. Would love to go back to see everything in the different seasons.

Mehak W

Always a pleasure visiting the Butchart Gardens. This time of yr still lots of flowers blooming.

Hristo Pironkov

Amazing place. Absolutely loved our time here.

Susan Ryans

The luscious gardens were a beautiful. The flowers were like nothing I've ever seen before.

Sean Lucas

One of the coolest botanical gardens I have ever been to. The weather cooperated which made the sightseeing even more fun. The walk was excellent and the view was spectacular. I surely recommend checking this place out as this is one of the famous gardens to go to in Victoria. I will surely be back here when I visit Victoria again.

Paul Onderwater

Beautiful..!! Amazing..!! Wow..!! The whole garden, flowers, trees, colors, aromas everything is beautiful at The Butchart Gardens. My family and I spent half day exploring this beautiful garden. The gardens are nicely separated (Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, rose garden) and very clean. Gift shop has really great collections. Be ready to take tonnes of pictures, as every corner here is incredibly beautiful.

Evren Ulku

Heavenly part of Vancouver Island! I could possibly spend a whole day there and just wander through the beautiful flowers and gigantic trees. Beautiful, beautiful and beautiful place. Too much good things to say about this place, check it out for yourself.

Linda Jantzi

We went for the winter light display and it was beautiful. Very impressive! They have the the process very well coordinated in terms of booking a time and parking, and walking around it never feel crowded.

Kathy Otten

Amazing place, variety of plants. Looks fantastic and it smells so good there. Nice place to take a wonderful pictures especially for girls

Kiran Warraich

Visited during the Christmas lights extravaganza. Lots of lights. Much wow. Don't know if there was enough wow to make up for the hour long wait to get in though. The hot chocolate was the cat's pajamas.

Juanes Cardenas

Awesome experience. Well worth the price of $50 per person, on a car that accommodates only 2 couples. Better than being on a tour bus that may not take you to other areas inaccessible except for smaller cars. Dave gave us a great tour. His historical and local perspective of Victoria was a bonus.

sumukha bharadwaj21

Ecstatic to Visit the Place It was lovely, in full bloom and absolutely colorful during the month of July. The patterns and variety of flora are just stunning. The little gardens within the Garden are well-maintained and someone with knowledge of plants would take away much more than a layman. However, lovely place for photo shoots, or kids to roam around.

Prince Chandwani

Beautiful place on each season or any weather condition. Dinning room and coffee available. 36$ adult

Deena Kasperson

I wasn't sure what to expect when we arrived, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well maintained and gorgeous the gardens were. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And although there were a lot of people, I felt that there was enough space for everyone!! Even better, it is dog friendly!.

Dianne Morozoff

One of the best flower gardens in Canada

Filip Josic

Amazing place to visit. Would definitely go again. Take your live ones and dont forget a camera. Beautiful gardens and scenery. Gift shoo has a large variety for the whole family and more.

Janis Silver

This place felt like another world, we went during the fall and the colors were so beautiful and vivid. Highly recommend checking out the Japanese garden!

Richard Higgins

The attention to detail was amazing. Being able to talk to some of the staff was very educational. They let us know the work involved with the change of the seasons. Highly recommend if ever in Victoria.

Anne Marie Weinkauf

The beautiful Christmas lights at Butchart Gardens !

Tracy DeForge

Always a magical place to visit

Laurie Leblanc

A must see on Vancouver island. Absolutely beautiful!

Cornelia Helena

This garden is massive!! I really had no clue that this was such a large facility. It's incredible! It's truly a work of art. Price is pretty high at $36 per adult though. Overall we had a lovely afternoon here.

Patrick

Stunning views everywhere you look, could have spent more time but our kid got very tired of all the walking.

James Burnett

Heavenly part of Vancouver Island! I could possibly spend a whole day there and just wander through the beautiful flowers and gigantic trees. Beautiful, beautiful and beautiful place. Too much good things to say about this place, check it out for yourself.

Volker Ross-Arnold

Wow. Best gardens I have been to. Over the top meticulously maintained. Great manageable walk for a family with little kids too! Recommend afternoon tea. They allow you to share. Just make sure you get a reservation.

Chris Shipway

Fantastic garden. Beautiful sites and on a nice and sunny day, very relaxing. Pretty quiet if you go in the morning at opening.

C Bric

We spent a wonderful morning here, enjoying the beautiful gardens. We loved all the variety as well as the sculptures throughout. I was able to bring my dog which was awesome.

Chelle B

Butchart Gardens was simply incredible -definitely the highlight of our trip to Victoria. I have never seen so many beautiful plants and flowers in one place in my life. The Sunken Garden and the Japanese Garden were my favorite. The staff was very courteous and helpful. I would also highly recommend the boat trip. We saw bald eagles, jelly fish and some exotic migratory birds. The captain of the boat was an amazing tour guide- very knowledgeable and humorous! He filled us in on the history behind the gardens, and also let us steer the boat for a few minutes!

Kelly Reid

Such a wonderful way to spend a sunny day. There are plenty of tour busses that service the gardens. We took the CVS tour line and it took about an hour from the Empress Hotel. When you begin your walking tour, take all the left turns. That’s the secret to not getting lost ???? (However, there’s one slight right at the fountain with the three fishes I think) Plenty of beautiful gifts in the gift shop. The food in the sandwich cafe was also good. If you get hungry, make sure you eat before going in...there’s not really any food options except for at the entrance of the gardens.

Keith Li

It's spectacular for sure, but they should reduce the price in the off season. We visited in November 2020 and most of the garden was expectedly not in bloom, but the price still stayed the same. I'd recommend visiting only at bloom seasons, otherwise free queen Elizabeth park in Vancouver is a go to. One note - Japanese garden is always spectacular, but fall was especially good since the maples started to turn red.

Ba bak

This place is magical, every time we go we see something new. Staff are friendly and organized during these crazy times. Gift store has a lot to offer.

jeff M

Absolutely beautiful. Must go and check it out!

Melody M

Beautiful! Very well maintained and manicured garden. I’d definitely visit again. And flowers smell so nice! Such a beautiful place, and the weather was good too. Good to visit during the summer. Good place for a date, long walks and beautiful sights.

Umida Iris

Lovely garden with lovely gift shop ????????❤️

Lisa Wilson

Beautiful place to spend a day. The different sections are a treat to feast your eyes on. The Sunken garden, Japanese garden and Italian gardens are my favorite.

Andrew MacKinnon

Beautiful colours and formations everywhere... Mesmerizing experience

Janice P

I finally got to see the rose garden in bloom and it was beautiful. I didn't take any photos because I was too busy enjoying the moment in real time. I had a wonderful time. I also just want to say the traffic control people in the parking lot were very nice and really helpful.

Neda Ziaei

Best place to go and relax

D Suelt

Magnificent, one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to, totally worth it! Approx time 1 1/2 hr.

Sunny Liu

Beautiful garden, cost 72 for two adults, kids under 5 are free. Took two hours to walk around and take photos. Ice cream shops available on site. Carousel was closed :(

John Gray

First time visiting in the fall. It was pleasantly uncrowded. The gardens had lots of fall interest. I could spend so much time just exploring and admiring the gardens. Enjoyed browsing and buying in the gift shop. Lunch at the cafe was tasty.

shawn edwards

The Best experience I have ever experienced. They have a gift shop, restaurants and coffee shop. Very well maintained and well directed with signs and great staff. It is little pricey but didn't regret of what I paid for. It is worth.

SAIRA AZAM

A beautiful display featuring the 12 days of Christmas. A great family early evening outing,!

Patsy Clark

Nice experience even for people who have zero interest in flowers/trees/gardens etc. Other reviews were correct when they said that the Japanese garden is the best. The path leading to Ross Fountain is also nice! The rest is "meh". It has food/drinks available at the entrance/exit. Got the hotdog and hot chocolate and they tasted fine, just overpriced. I'd recommend going as early as possible. Our family entered the premise after the first hour they opened and we were the 3rd or 4th car in the parking lot. By the time we finished the tour and quickly checked out the gift shop (about 1hr 45 mins since we had 2 small kids with us), the parking lot was FULL of cars and buses, so thankfully we missed a huge crowd (at around 11:45am on a weekday). Overall would recommend for the experience, even if you just go to the two gardens mentioned above. Prices are steep but if you live in Victoria or visit it at least 2 or more times per year then it would be worth getting their annual pass $65 vs $31 for 1-time pass only in October, other months can be a few dollars cheaper or more expensive!

Helena Funny

Paradise on earth is what i would like to call it. Must visit if you are near Victoria. We took a sea plane for a day trip to visit the gardens and it was the best decision ever. Bus to the gardens leaves from a quick walk from seaplane port. We had afternoon tea inside the gardens which was amazing. We saw all parts of the gardens including the Japanese garden and every bit was such an amazing experience. Check out my other review for afternoon tea in the gardens. Must visit! You can rent wheelchairs for any elderly person in the group as well from inside the gardens.

Kenny T

What a fabulous garden. Meticulously maintained and perfect examples of landscaping & what grows in a Canadian climate. We loved all the different themes and found it inspiring for what we could do in our little home garden. Definitely doable in 1.5 hours if you like gardens and just want to visit. If you are serious about gardening & photography, we spent nearly 8 hours walking around and enjoying it all. We aspire to come back during different seasons. At the end of July we were lucky enough to catch dahlias and roses. We think the Japanese garden will be gorgeous in the fall.

Elaine

Beautiful place to explore with many magnificent views. A must see when on the island ????

A Grace

The light show in the winter is one of my favorites. Family friendly, dating friendly, group friendly.

A Grace

A must go for everyone on the Island. Honestly I didn’t know how big the garden was, budget a few hours to see and take it the beauty

Jaji Paji

I love Butchart Gardens. In all the years I've come for a visit, I've never been disappointed by the serene peaceful surroundings. My favorite area is the sunken gardens, I love walking around the ponds looking at the fish, and all the wonderful colors surrounding this artful creation.

Sandra Karr

The 12 Days of Christmas at Butchart Gardens with snow on the ground is so well done and a special experience!

Michael Arts

Absolutely one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen. By the way, this is not usually my kind of gardens, but how everything is planted, planned, cared etc. is magnificent. Everything is just perfect. This place is magical. 36$ seems expensive but wait until you see the whole thing by yourself. It’s worth every penny.

nelson guzzo

Wow. Best gardens I have been to. Over the top meticulously maintained. Great manageable walk for a family with little kids too! Recommend afternoon tea. They allow you to share. Just make sure you get a reservation.

Tim Muys

An absolutely beautiful holiday experience! Thank you to the staff for making the gardens a very safe and enjoyable place to visit during these challenging times.

Rachel Todd

So pretty even in the late fall there is lots to see

Damir Markušić

Absolutely amazing garden! So impeccably manicured. Christmas decorations are up and I loved the references to the 12 days of Christmas (even though it took me half the garden to get it ahha). I went during the day time, and even though it was beautiful, I can see it being even better at night! Would definitely come back.

Charles Wang

One of the best gardens I have seen so far.

Mina

Definitely go in it’s autumnal glory!

Garrett Jong

Buchart gardens never disappoint always a good time. So much to see and do

Zencc “zenzcc”

A great place to spend a few hours being in nature and admiring all the beauty that is Butchart Gardens. I really enjoyed my time, definitely recommend a visit here

Susannah-Joy Schuilenberg

Feb 2021, COVID-19 protocol (mask required inside, mostly one-way traffic inside, no dinning or coffee, gift shop still open). Super quiet on a Sunday, nice for a peaceful walk-around.

John Rhoden

These gardens are absolutely beautiful. The designs are gorgeous and interesting and I found the history of each garden a bonus. The rose garden was beautiful and the scent was amazing. Food at the cafeteria was delicious and toilets were very clean.

Tuyet V

This place exceeded our expectations. The different gardens are beautiful and very well maintained. You can easily spent a couple of hours here walking thorough the different areas. All staff was super friendly at all times. I also recommend visiting the gift store which offers a wide variety of souvenirs and the dinning room where you can have the so popular “afternoon tea”. We’ll surely be back! :)

Heshna Khadoo

Wonderful holiday display love the 22 days of Christmas theme

C C

If you're ever going to Vancouver island then you definitely need to visit The Butchart Garden at some point! Especially so if it's a Saturday during the summer! There's a rose garden, Japanese garden, Italian garden, Mediterranean garden, the fountains, and the sunken garden! They all have their own themes and own charms. They are all beautiful in their own way. The landscape architects and grounds keepers are brilliant and your can definitely tell! On Saturday nights during the summer, the garden has a 30-minute fireworks show which I thought was one of the best if not the best show! The venue is much smaller than a public venue. Everyone gets to see the fireworks and hear the music simultaneously! The fireworks actually follow the theme of the music. Not only that but the bangs, pops, and hisses of the fireworks are closely synchronized with the music! It's just great overall!

Nancy Tissot

I've been to the gardens twice, once in the spring and once in the fall, both were unbelievably stunning. This place is truly glowing with magical colors

Trina Halusiak

Really nice. Lots of flowers. You can see that everything is done with the highest quality.

Gareth D'Silva

Don’t miss that place if you’re visiting Victoria. The garden is full of peace and colourful scenery and of course gorgeous flowers and plants.

Mary Quinn

Beautiful place to visit, the gardens were emaculately kept.

Justin Greiwe

Feb 2021, COVID-19 protocol (mask required inside, mostly one-way traffic inside, no dinning or coffee, gift shop still open). Super quiet on a Sunday, nice for a peaceful walk-around.

sarah-leanne deslippe

The Butchart Gardens is a group of floral display gardens in Brentwood Bay, British Columbia, Canada, The Butchart Gardens is open to the public, welcoming you to take solace from this beautiful garden. The Butchart Gardens, a National Historic Site of Canada, is 22 ha/55 acres of wonderful floral display The Butchart Gardens ... Come enjoy our breathtaking 22 ha (55 acres) of gardens year around. Between 1906 and 1929, the Butcharts created a Japanese Garden on the seaside, an Italian Garden

Johannes Baum

Beautiful gardens, even at night thanks to the lights they had. Evening and night might have even been better. Pictures came out well during the evening, but my camera couldn't catch the night shots nearly as well. The concert that was playing made walking around even better, too. The layout of the gardens kind of turns your head around a little, but the paths tend to lead you back to the connecting paths. We didn't need to resort to the map very much, but when we did, it was just because we were trying to make the most of our limited time. If I ever visit Victoria again, I am going to try to get to the gardens again.

Rita Yang

Spectacular, perfect day today to see all the beautiful tulips in colour!! Best time to see them now. Grab a coffee or ice cream, or spoil someone with a special treat for high tea! Great gift shop. Restrooms convenient throughout the gardens and wheelchair friendly pathways and ramps

Kenneth Mcgechen

One of the nicest gardens that I have been. There are a numerous variety of flowers to see and all of them are very well kept. There are also nice restaurant and area to relax. There one equipment that visitors can not forget: your camera to photograph the most colorful flowers. This is a must to visit place.

Wayne H

Amazing experience! The winter light show is definitely worth going! We were lucky that there’s snow on the group, which made the entire place a lot of elegant and festive. With the lights, it’s perfect

Jasdeep Singh

First time visiting during Christmas lights festival. World class experience!

Dale Vecero

Over 50 acres of the 150 being used for a gorgeous display showcasing a variety of flowers, trees, plants and landscaping skills. For over 100 years these gardens have offered a stunning visual which takes you through a multitude of different sections from the "field" display of the Sunken Gardens to the meticulous care of the Japanese Garden. This attraction offers up enough to soemd a day with a stage that showcases live music, multiple food and beverage outlets, and a gift shop. Don't forget the Rose carousel which is $2 for a ride! In the evenings in the summer the night illumination is a must see as it offers a completely different perspective of the Sunken Gardens so I recommend trying to stay when it gets dark. Something that helps is the evening fireworks. A 30 minute display of dancing lights in an array of colours.

Joyce Knecht

Much like the other reviews say $36 per person is steep and in my opinion not worth that price unless you are a large flower enthusiast who plans to spend the day there and take the time to read about all the different flowers and stop and smell them etc etc. The garden is well maintained and beautiful. Would be a lovely place to go without children. Bit of a nightmare with a stroller, would recommend for kids aged 5 and up. It took me 1 hour to walk through the entire garden with 2 little ones and a stroller. It would only take longer if you were stopping lots, grabbing coffee, etc etc. Overall not worth the price but is very pretty if you like gardens. On a hot day it's VERY hot, save it for a cooler day so you can stop and enjoy the flowers rather than rushing to try to find shade all day.

INDERJEET KAUR DANG

The lights are .... absolutely amazing!! OMG I live this place and the effort they put in is just insane. Go and visit you will not be disappointed any time of the year.

Deb Wagner

Even in winter time, this lovely garden still shows its unique color. The green tree and some branches form beautiful scenes.

Karan Jammu

Really enjoyed our time here. It was a bit of a rainy day but with all the overhead trees it didn't bother us at all. It was likely better going on a rainy day as it was not busy so we were able to leisurely roam the gardens without crowds. Very COVID friendly with plenty of room to stay distanced from other visitors

Umar Awan

I will be upfront I am not a plant person but I loved this place. It is strikingly serene and just magnificently tended to. We visited sept 28th and fall only made it seem more special. Plant lovers will be amazed, non plant lovers will be impressed fear not. The common thing I noticed was everyone was just amazed at the types and mixture of plant types. Worth the price, and would go again next visit.

alfred c

Wow! I have always loved the Christmas lights at Butchart Gardens but this year they are better than ever!

Shinichiro Yamaji

Beautiful gardens, and lots to see. We went in early Spring so we’d like to go back late Spring or early summer to see more. There was lots of parking and Covid protocols in place. We also had tea after, it was nice and service was good. Hope to be back!

Patrick Conlan

Loved the 12 nights of Christmas light display!

Mahima Srivastava

Wonderful light display! Find the items in The 12 Days of Christmas!

Neer P

I cannot begin to describe the beauty of this place! If you love nature or just need a peaceful place to unwind and relax, this is a must! The staff is taking every precaution to ensure that guests can continue to explore and enjoy this breathtaking place. I can't wait to come back in another season to see the changes that take place!

Hall Pauline

Beautiful gardens to enjoy a Sunday afternoon stroll

Deanna Risi

Not super worth the $33 entrance fee. Personal feel that it is worth around $20. It is a very well maintained and beautiful garden, with different themes like the rose garden, Japanese garden, etc. I do not know what is the hyper of Japanese gardens in North America in general, but in my opinion they aren't that "authentic" in a sense because they mixed all the different types of Japanese gardens together.

Logan Saunders

All the flowers were beautiful, lots of safety protocols and sanitizer to help you feel comfortable and safe. Very relaxing afternoon.

Annika Anderson

Beautiful place to visit in Summer. I won’t recommend it during winter because it was cold and you can’t see flowers and the very green look of the garden. I will come to see it in summer for sure

Celia Payne

Alyssa Pigatto

Aditya Sharma

We came here on the recommendation and invitation of our friend. At first, this variety of colors seemed just very cute. Then we got to the Chinese part of the garden and it impressed us. Further, just being among these divine scents left an indelible impression

Andre Darbinian

Like a fairytale! Everything was beautiful and blooming aside from the rose garden

Manasa Manohar

Love love love this place. So gorgeous. I could not stop admiring the beauty of this place. I took tones of pictures. The garden has so many sections and each section has variety of flowers, fountains and different set ups. Very nice place to visit. Definitely worth it. Would highly recommend it.

Jay BEAUPRE

In the summer there is no better value for entertainment with your season pass. Use your pass twice and you have broken even on your purchase. That is the best deal in town for entertainment as they offer over 60 shows starting July 1 each year. Oh, the garden is nice too...

W. F.

The place you must have to visit. It is diverse with tons of flowers from all over the world. The garden in more than 80 years, well maintained and can be visited even during Covid !!!

Kurt Carlson

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I bought tickets in advance to visit on January 2nd 2022. COVID stopped our trip and my family is devastated . Airlines, Hotels, Car Rentals were very friendly and aware of this difficult moment but not his guys. No refunds, I can only use again the value of my tickets. Ok, that's fine for an Airline where I can use it for another destiny , the same with hotel. But Butchart Gardens!!..they will keep my money and sell my time slot to someone else. Karma

Kirk Heaton

A wonderful walking experience for tourists and locals alike. My first visit happened when I was just a few weeks old. I remember enjoying it several times as a kid and I've been happy taking friends there as an adult. When I bring people to the island - or when I talk to them about going there, I always recommend Butchart Gardens. I do this living in Vancouver - my mother, who lives close by the Gardens, goes there at least once a week; having a year-round pass really helps locals. The history of the gardens is quite interesting to read it hear about, but the views captivate. You can walk through quickly, in under an hour, or take your time and spend a good part of a day. In the summer you want to go in the sun. It can get warm in some areas, but there is lots of shade, too. The fireworks are a reason to stay later, too. In the winter you will want to see the 12 Days of Christmas display (my photos are from that), but for that you do want to go in the evening, after it is dark. There will be tons of traffic at that time, so leave early and be ready to wait a while in your car before you get through the gates. There's a tasty coffee shop, a very nice tea room and a couple of delicious restaurants on site (but reserve ahead of time) - and there's some good pubs in and around Brentwood and Saanichton to visit after, so your day is all set with a trip out there! By the way, the photos I posted are not of the most enthralling areas in the winter display. This is just a taster for you - I wanted to leave the extremely impressive parts for you to experience on your own... enjoy!

This is a beautiful place to visit and walk through with more picture spots than you can count. The price might seem a bit steep to some for a garden but it's evident that a lot of work done to maintain the gardens and keep them as beautiful as they are. A lovely way to spend a couple hours if you're near Victoria.

Do not miss the holiday lights at Butchart Gardens. The best holiday light display!

If you've never visited The Butchart Gardens it is definitely worth the visit. The Gardens are expansive, immaculate and beautiful. There are many types of gardens, fountains, ponds and other water features. There are many paths and walkways you can take through the Gardens so you never feel crowded. There are a couple of small cafés and a cafeteria and dinng room in the main buildings near the entrance. They offer afternoon tea which we didn't get to try. For us the best part was we could bring our puppy along as the Gardens are pet friendly!

Loved this Garden. So Beautiful ????

Wow! Exceeded my expectations . Beautiful flowers and trees. Very clean grounds and plenty of benches to sit at and enjoy the gardens. They have a large gift and coffee shop as well. Good size parking lot and very clean bathrooms.

Have only been during the Christmas light display season. But they do a wonderful job on decorating the grounds and the online ticket ordering was very straightforward and easy to do. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Grounds are well lit and accessible for all levels of mobility. Will have to come back during the other seasons and see the gardens in full bloom. Their gift shop has a wide range items of reasonable price too.

It looks better than the pictures and it's by far the nicest garden I've ever visited. Flowers smell fantastic and the place looks like it's straight out of a movie.

Amazing. Mind blowing. I have never seen gardens like this. It was rainy day when we went there but it was worth it. They were maintained good. Place was clean. Staff was good. I'll definitely go there one more time if I get chance.

My wife and I went there on an excursion with an Alaskan cruise. I have been to several botanical gardens. It was by far the most beautiful. I would definitely go again if I was up that way.
