Lockyer's was one of my mom's favourite places to shop. The staff are professional and always had time for her when she was recovering from her stroke. Even this spring she was able to come in and look at what was coming up for annuals. As usual, we placed our order for hanging baskets and never felt unsafe or unwelcome. The staff have been great at working with the provincial guidelines, keeping their staff and customers safe. Tanya is a gem and CJ is thoughtful. I hope that as the isles open up for retail that customers do physically distance.

This is a very nice green house. It's very large with lots of variety, there are so many hanging baskets! There is also a store to get some garden gizmos. There are also bulbs, seeds and different types potatoes to plant. Great location and easy to get too!

Absolutely BEST Christmas tree I've ever had in my life! Wonderful fragrance. Perfect shape. Lucious, dense, soft needles. Incredibly, this Douglas fir lasted beautifully for an entire month without dropping needles. Yes it cost more but it was spectacular! For such an occasion, it was worth every penny. Helpful staff made us feel so welcome on our first Christmas here. Will buy our Christmas trees here very happily every year!

Went to the store today and despite being the only customers in the entire place not one single person greeted us. So we wandered around the greenhouse until someone told us to get out of that area. I explained how confusing it was since the signs literally pointed us that way saying stay six feet apart. The person admitted they had been sweeping and moved the closed sign, literally putting it back in place in front of us as she directed us to the open greenhouse. They left us alone for a few minutes, eventually approaching our area but not offering help when I mentioned there were no prices. So I asked more directly and was told to ask at the front desk because they weren’t sure if they would even sell them to us. So we went to the front desk and asked if anything is even for sale... note we saw a bunch of “sold” signs in the closed part of the greenhouse. They told me to calm down and asked who said we wouldn’t be sold anything then while wearing no face mask and standing barely 6 feet away from us... eventually offered to walk us through the open greenhouse. So we waited for their help while looking at pots but they disappeared into the greenhouse and never came back so we left. The items we wanted were on their open floor to be clear so why do we need supervision? Do we not look rich enough? Because I was literally carrying a Louis Vuitton bag and wearing Chanel sunglasses. Or is it because my husband is not white?? If this is standard procedure then why weren’t we greeted and offered help when we arrived?? Why was there not signage indicating nothing would be sold... but instead actual sold signs. I have a greenhouse indoors at home and expressed this so I could easily care for my plants at home plus it seems very clear they were selling plants and then storing them for other customers... we were never offered that. We had a big list (which also included evergreen trees) and intended to spend hundreds but will do so elsewhere... where we won’t be discriminated against or put at risk of getting covid by staff that don’t wear masks as required by law.

Poor quality annuals and perennials. Very poor selection of all plant material. Staff that doesn't care and will laugh at you when you are three feet away from them just about asking about a price of something that ended up being "for farmers only". Why would that even be out with everything else if it's not for sale? I have worked in the horticultural industry for 20 years... Never have I seen such poor quality overpriced stock. Best to go elsewhere.

If you’re looking for a gorgeous hanging basket you’re sure to find one here. They have hundreds of beautiful baskets that are so much fuller and prettier than other places. The only problem is they’ll all have a sold tag attached or at least 99 percent of them will. If you ask for assistance you won’t get any and end up leaving without one like I did. I believe I even spoke to the owner or manager who was extremely dismissive and curt. What a let down. I would never shop here again.

I'm sure they deserve their five star rating --if you can actually buy a hanging basket from them, that is! New to Picton, I eagerly anticipated my first visit to Lockyer's. With such beautiful baskets and healthy stock, it is obvious that this establishment takes great pride in its products. ...So, why reserve orders ahead of time? After braving their limited parking, I discovered that most of their hanging baskets sported "sold tags" and was politely informed that Lockyer's is NOT a "big box store"; that locals reserved their plants as early as last April. I was out of luck unless I wanted a few newly-planted baskets-- at very high prices! As a former nursery employee myself, I don't understand this "reservation" approach. It was a disappointing waste of time. Perhaps some kind of statement about their "reservation policy" (or the current status of their stock) should be published on their website or their facebook page. It would be a more respectful way to treat newcomers and those who've never shopped here before because, '"big box store" or not, I will neither be returning nor "reserving" my plants next April!

I love going there bc is very beautiful, but it is an expensive store, I only go for "emergency purchases" most of the nicer plants are always reserved or sold and this is the second time they sell me an orquid with bugs, so not a good place to buy orquids.

Got to know what I liked, what my garden goles were and what were the best plants to get so I could make my green space into a reality. Lockyer's provided us with great service. We wanted to plant a cedar hedge, staff helped us understand which type of cedar we needed and how many trees would be required. CJ was very helpful in sourcing the 29 trees we figured we would need and she had them available for pickup very quickly. When we arrived to pick them up on Saturday morning, Greg loaded us up quickly and was very helpful and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain exactly what we needed to do to ensure the cedars thrive. We ended up miscalculating and needed 3 more, I called first thing Sunday morning to make sure they had them in stock, when we pulled into your lot, Greg had them ready to go for us. It took us the 2 full days but we got them all planted and we couldn't be happier.

The staff here are often rude and dismissive. They’re local, so I try to give this place my business, but the poor customer service is frustrating. When I visit the store I am often ignored. I tried this place again today to source a few seed varieties and was curtly dismissed by a disinterested employee. I decided to then call a different garden store in Belleville and was greeted by a friendly staff member who was able to supply the seeds. Despite the 30 minute drive, I will be taking my business elsewhere going forward.
