First time visiting and the team was awesome. Very friendly and knowledgeable about their equipment. Set me up with some excellent gear for indoor cannabis growing - it's legal for everyone to grow 4! The store was a wee crammed with grow gear, but asking had them go go grab the stuff and bring it to us. That's awesome! We called ahead as we were travelling an hour away and they put stuff aside. Looking forward to returning, a grower always needs a good grow shop and this is our place.

My first experience walking into Dutchman was a decent one, with the one staff member they had being quite helpful with the questions I had for him, as I am new to the growing industry. I ended up purchasing a small bottle of nutrients for just under $30. At the end of the transaction I received only a debit slip receipt. I found this strange at the time, as I am currently a manager of a small business and have the same debit receipts which always accompany a second receipt which has the pertinent information of a company invoice.... so I asked if this was it? I was told that was all that I needed. Fast forward 2 weeks where I have since done some research and learned the product I purchased was not exactly what I needed, so I had my wife attempt to return the nutrients, with the receipt, unopened, as she works very close to Dutchman. She was then told that nutrients were non returnable, and aside from that fact it was past their 7 day return policy. After her surprise and embarrassment from learning she was trying to return something she could not, she was upset when the owner would not make an exception REGARDLESS of the fact that they did not provide the proper receipt with the return policy on it in the first place. So she gave a poor rating... and then the owner replied by saying her rating was more of a judge of her character than of their level of customer service. So naturally I took offense to this and phoned the owner, of which he was extremely defensive and rude. He (Paul) stated he reviewed the video footage and confirmed the audio feed of me declining the full copy of the receipt... First of all, why would I take only 1 of a 2 part receipt, and secondly, in Canada, surveillance cameras can only be used to record video and are not allowed to record audio conversation. Despite all of this, the phone call was nothing but an argument of which nothing was resolved or settled, other than creating an unhappy customer. So here are a few things of note: - I was never once verbally informed of the return policy at the time of purchase - the receipt I did receive did not have any info related to the return policy - the website did not have the return policy on it (of which the owner stated it was the terms and conditions section, but is not) - there was never once an apology for publicly attacking my wife's character - there was never once an attempt to resolve the issue due to a misunderstanding of events that took place... and on the contrary, the owner stated it was the due diligence of the consumer to know and understand the industry wide return policy that has been in place for decades As I stated earlier, I have managed a small, family operated, retail business for many years and THINGS HAPPEN... employees make mistakes, owners make mistakes, etc... no one is perfect. That being said, I have had to make many exceptions due to these unexpected circumstances to rectify issues. In any case, I would NEVER have acted in a manner like this or with such a poor attitude, and I don't even own the company I manage. For this reason, among others mentioned above, I will not support a business with someone like that at the helm. I hope the $30 was worth it...

Worst hydro store in and around Barrie Ont. I've been growing for years and have went to every hydro store in a 50km radius and then some. Dutchman has the highest prices i have seen by far. The young guy who works there is a nice dude but its all about saving money. The other 2 stores in barrie will smash any price dutchman will offer you. But the best store is overgrown hydroponic. They have the lowest prices and if u show them the price from another store in town they will beat the price with no tax. As a matter of fact anything you buy you will never pay tax.ive shopped at dutchman numerous times amd the one time i asked for a deal/no tax i was told i need to purchase over 200$ worth of nutrient. Now i only use dutchman if the other store don't carry what I'm looking for

The store is clean, bright and larger than most with a ton of hydroponic supplies for all types of growers. They also have the best prices in Barrie and know what they are talking about.

Would be awesome if you guys were open longer and actually posted prices on your products. Store is also very unkempt with equipment strewn everywhere. Good products and smart clerks for growing advice but for the store side of things improvement is needed. Only being open until 5pm on a Tuesday is unacceptable guys people work and have lives. Also I can't even count how many times I should up like 30 minutes before close after a shift at work only my to find the clerk packing up the register early looking at me.as though I am the one who screwed up. Edit. Rating was unfair upon looking back. My remaining complaint is the price tags, please guys i know prices fluctuate but it really helps shopper experience. The mess occurred i am assuming on shipping day. Must have been upset that day, my apologies. Hours are my primary problem with any business not just you guys got to remember that. Keeping old stuff up to provide context to what i am talking About i guess.
