I'd go back! My sister and I went for lunch. We both chose fish tacos, mine with ceasar salad, her's with fries. We are kinda spoiled when it comes to fish tacos and prefer the Mexican iteration(that traditionally always come in 3's), but the two fish tacos presented were really nice, battered, crispy, tasty and filling. My ceasar salad was better than average. Sister's fries were like food truck fries, fresh and crispy. We both had Island Folk cider with our meal which was a refreshing accompaniment. Portside is completely outside in the elements but every table has an umbrella and the outside edge has a plexi wall so even though it is open, it's also protected. Beware though, you may want a jacket handy. The service was great, the women on deck that day, were moving quick and keeping focused. The cooks were hopping too. Everyone had great work ethic, helping each other as well as customers. The maritime music playing made it great. They often have live musicians, and I would happily go back to be entertained as well as eat and drink.

I love the outside atmosphere. Being able to enjoy food and bevvies so close to the ocean is something else! They have blankets on hand too if it gets chilly outside, it's a nice added touch.

Amazing food!! excellent service!! Due to the delay in the food, the manager did not charge the bill, it was a great consideration for my family. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. It is allowed dogs, so it was possible to have a meal with the whole family and with the dog. And I couldn't fail to mention the restaurant has a wonderful view of the sea.

Not only does Portside have fantastic views of the harbour and the cruise pavilion, but the food and service are amazing as well. With an ample selection of local brews and a menu of tasty eats, Portside is a great place to have some drinks with friends.

The fish n chips were okay... Except for the piece of raw beef and metal spike from deep fryer mixed amongst the fries, discovered when we got back to hotel Called up, to let them know; not even an apology, the person on other end seemed to not even care.

Not sure if it's always like this, but we definitely won't be coming back. Host was not very welcoming and waitor was not on his A game. He came to the table only once, which was to take our order- not once did he check up on us. Food took 1 hour to get from the time we ordered- we only ordered a ceasar salad and fish & chips! Fish was bland and no better than fast food. Live music was also pretty irritating.

We went there last night a company of 5 for dinner 4 out of 5 got their orders missing an item, no apology I think the server was hoping that we wouldn’t notice !! Every time we ask him so where is the side dish etc. he replies oh sorry we ran out of didn’t even offer to substitute it with something else Table sets were missing asked for them 3 times Now we came to how the food taste, I can say it was hardly okay Don’t recommend this place

We just reached this place strolling by the boardwalk. To our surprise, this is definitely worth a visit if you are ever in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Of course it is popular amongst the locals of all ages. I loved the ambiance and food. We ordered mussels and sea food pasta, along with drinks. I am certainly going back once again before we leave. Such a lively place, town and people, and breathtaking sunsets to enjoy while taking a stroll on the boardwalk, and enjoying your food at Portside.

It's a perfect spot for those who want to enjoy the open air and sun under heavy umbrellas. The service is efficient, friendly, and fairly quick. A small selection of some items: no Scotch, no Irish whiskey. I had Canadian Club, which is pretty good. Good prices.

Had the pleasure of stopping at the Portside Restaurant during a recent visit to Sydney Nova Scotia for a quick bite to eat and drinks. Food was good, typical harbour side pub stuff, quality was very good, portions decent, served quickly and service was fast and friendly. They can be busy but it's worth the wait for the atmosphere and view alone.
