I've been going to this restaurant for years, and for good reason. Family run, the staff make you feel right at home. Mom is the hostess, a happy, smiling face to greet you when you come through the door. The dad is the head chef, and the kids are part of the serving staff. And the food! I've been to Chinese restaurants where the food is under/over cooked, greasy, or just plain awful (must be my Caucasian palette), but never have I been dissapointed by the fare at this restaurant. It's always tasty and prepared to a tee. Nothing is pre-cooked; everything is prepared fresh. If you want to experience exceptional Chinese food with equally exceptional service, then this place awaits. Bon appetite!

Our party of 4 was very impressed with service at our table. They are well focused and take pride in ensuring our food order and water and tea are kept up during our stay. It is a old building but they are on top maintenance. Maybe seats could be redone!

The food here was exactly like the food that I have eaten in Taipei and Hong Kong. Vegetables very fresh the sauces are not overpowering the meat is very tasty. This is one of the first places in Canada I have eaten where the food is like what I ate in China. I think a lot of the Chinese food that we eat here in Canada is modified for Canadian taste and it usually means adding something that is full of calories, not so at this place. Honestly, the best place for Chinese food in Calgary that I've found. Their food is always hot and service is fast - and the restaurant is always busy. visited new years eve for supper 2017. female server very loud, overly exuberant in greeting. we placed food order & said we would just have water as a drink. then she asked the 2 young children would they like a cola, gingerale & recommended they try a Shirley temple .... which they agreed to, then didn't like or drink ( nearly $4.00/glass! ). this was an uncalled for tactic on her part! &, the food was not remarkable!! needless to say, I will boycott this restaurant & share this with others who live in the neighborhood. 1 star for being convenient to home.

This is the best Chinese food I've had in Calgary in my 22 years here. Everything was fantastic... fresh and delicious ! Delivery was prompt. The prices are very reasonable and they give you a free entre if you spend over $65 which was a nice touch ! They have the biggest eggrolls I've seen and like everything else they were delicious. We ordered take out after searching online for 'good chinese food' during the covid-19 lock down and chose Emerald Garden on a whim after looking through the online menus. Emerald Garden will definitely be my go to place from now for Chinese food. I noticed after ordering they do Portuguese food. I'm sure it would be delicious so I'll be trying that next. Go for it you really can't go wrong here.

We made a reservation for New Year's Day and got in promptly at our 6:30PM res time, even though there was a lineup out the door. After ordering and receiving our appetizers, we realized that we were running late to make it to a show so mentioned to the server and even though the place was extremely busy, our she sped up our service. The food was the best I've had in years! I was incredibly impressed with the quality of everything we ordered (Dinner for 4) + dumplings. I wish I lived closer because I would never eat at another Chinese restaurant again. Heck, I don't even care that I live 25 minutes away, we'll be going back often. I've recommended Emerald Garden to several friends already.

Great Cantonese cuisine with good flavours. There are a few order ahead items on the menu you must try like the soy sauce chicken and crab baked rice. Sweet and sour pork is executed nicely. Im not sure why people are giving this place 5 stars. The delivery took 1 hour and a 1/2. We ordered $70 worth of food and so hugely disappointed. The sweet and sour pork was rubbery with no flavour. The ginger beef was flimsy and lacked flavour...not crispy by any means. This other dish was slimey rubbery and absolutely disgusting. The beef greens were slimey. The egg rolls were greasy and tastless.The only reason I gave them 1 star is because there is no zero star option. I would never order from here again even if someone paid me. The only thing that was decent was the chicken fried rice and the fortune cookies.

The best part is all the food is so fresh and crisp. Ginger beef is full of flavor, the sizzling prawns were delicious, and so were the few other items we ordered. The service is friendly and warm. The restaurant is clean and there is no cooking smell at all.
