As others have stated here, their customer service is horrendous. I came here on the weekend to try to return something and was faced with an arrogant lady who denies everything. She will even deny that the sky is blue. Also I was told that the prices in their "2020 Price Guide" aren't right. Why would you even put out such rubbish if it's inaccurate? Will be buying my plants elsewhere from now on.

My wife and I love shopping here as they have a wonderful selection of plants and bushes and trees. They also have many many interesting pieces of furniture and other additions for your garden and decks. We recently picked up a new tree and some wonderful hostas for our backyard. I love the condition of the plants at the store they are well taken care of and usually larger than the other places I’ve been to. We also bought a fountain here and it is a nice addition to our backyard. I’ve also always found the staff quick to help, friendly and knowledgeable. If you haven’t been yet, you should check this place out as it’s only a minute out of Calgary by the Balzac mall.

I couldn't come in one day and he started being very ignorant to me and decided to cut back my hours which I wasn't getting very many hours anyway. The service here was a bit bipolar - great staff working in the plant area, very helpful - no staff in the rest of the place - poor service at checkout. We were purchasing over $500 worth of plants and were asked if we had a membership, we did not, as it would save us 15 or 20 %. We were then told that due to covid we were not allowed to take the time to sign up and so we paid over $50 more... Had we not had our heart set on the plants we picked I would have walked out. I would not recommend shopping here. We later found a good selection elsewhere for a fraction of the price. They really need to work on training their cashiers to provide better service.

David S., the store manager, has poor customer service skills. He is condescending and dismissive to customers when they raise concerns about delivery. Then still somehow finds away to do exactly what the customer was worried about, aka... mess up the delivery. But dont worry David S, I don't blame a clown for being a clown, I blame myself for going to a circus in the first place. On a side note, this store is horribly overpriced. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I ordered Artificial Turf yesterday and they told me it is going to take 7-10 business days to be here and today I called them to cancel my order, lady cancelled my order first and she said it is cancelled and you'll get email soon, but after 10 minutes I got a call from their employee, he said he cannot cancel my order as it is already cut and shipped which doesn't make any sense and IT DOESN'T SAY ANYTHING ON RECEIPT. JUST SAYS YOU CAN RETURN YOUR ITEMS WITHIN 30 DAYS.

We drove out early Sunday morning and they had found enough for our project and best of all they were on sale. All staff were courteous and helpful. I started going here last year and bought shrubs but one of them did not make it. I'm probally not going to buy it if the staff outside did not guarantee me that "if in case it did not make it just bring it back we will give credits or exchange", I thought for the price, i'll take the risk. Unfortunately, today I called and the person on the otherside of the line was hesitant and trying to avoid conversation of me bringing back the "dead" shrub, 0 customer service. I'm not going back to this place ever again! I miss Sunnyside so much...

My Nephew and I love Blue Grass and last Tues. the selection was excellent. I found the Banana I have been wanting, played with the adorable black kitty who was very friendly and enjoyed a mini tropical vacation during the visit. The only down side it was -25 with hurricane force winds so going back out to parking lot was brutal. Is there any chance you can open a bed & breakfast on the grounds? Thank you everyone.

July 8th, finally got my tree. Customer service needs major improvements. The story below remains relate to and worth sharing. Well another customer received no customer service, this place is good until you hit a bump. Bought thousand dollars worth of trees last year. In May of this year one did not come to life, called in, they said “Send picture of dead tree to Scott” Scott replied approving exchange, I brought dead tree to exchange, lady at the till said go pick the replacement, went in the rows of trees found the replacement, Parkland Birch, but there was no 10 gallon only 15 gallon size. Brought to the desk, same lady says “ you have to pay $100 difference for bigger size” I said can we split it half way since there are no #10. She responded “No” I said, “can I speak with manager?” She looked confused and told me there no managers here, I thought to myself “That is a great start!!!” I asked “Can I discuss this situation with anyone in a position to make decisions?” She said “ Sure, I will get supervisor to speak with you.” To keep it short, that conversation went useless. It’s been tree weeks now since and I got no responses from management, I’m not sure it exist there, no tree and no money. It is time I take it to Alberta Services! If you looking for managed business with customer service- YOU BETTER SKIP BLUE GRASS BALZAC!

I wasn't diapointed. Wanted mulch and their self serve bag worked perfectly. They have small samples in the store to look at before you go out. I went out to the yard and was offered assistance. We wanted a different design of rain spout, the kind that the water runs down like a chain, but the selection was limited. They still had them. Just limited.

We ordered the handy cube of "screened loam" to spread on our yard. It was filled with pebbles and what appears to be chips of cement!? Do not use this for your lawn or even your yard, you are better off picking up your own so you know what you are getting. Don't get stuck with a bag of someone else's fill and at a high cost as well!

This place is the bane of my existence and bank account! I love it there, I buy lots a plants, In fact a bought a new Aralia and Money Tree today, potted them, and was helped out by two lovely ladies to pick out some new flowers for my yard. Next month I will purchase those. Anyway its a rule in the house that I cant go to Blue Grass unsupervised because I will spend roughly all the dollars on stuff. I really do like the atmosphere and selection and so far I would label the staff knowledgeable and friendly. Oh the staff also seems to actually enjoy their jobs so that was neat.

We ordered gravel from Bluegrass and they dropped off loam instead. When we asked them to fix the problem, they came back and only scooped up half of the loam and then dropped the gravel off in the wrong spot. It cost us $400 in labor to fix this screw up. We're never purchasing from Bluegrass again!

We recently purchased sod and screen loam from Blue Grass. We were very happy with the sod but the screened loam had so many big rocks mixed in with it. It just added extra time for us to have to pick out those bigs rocks. I was happy with the sod I purchased from Blue Grass (not the top soil) but I have to give them two stars. My experience with the customer service desk was ok but after that I returned on additional occasions to get quotations for landscaping materials and by chance I always had to deal with the same person. She was rude every time and always seems to be annoyed by questions that are asked of her.

Had no issues with scrubs and any returns but the screened loam sucks been picking rocks out of my grass for days, made my own screen out of half inch material and I'm getting half dirt and half rocks some as big as 5" round balls of clay and rocks

We have been going for years. We have bough fruit trees, house plants, dirt and vegetables gardening items. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. We had a fruit tree that died the within a year, and was grateful for the quick replacement. The new apple tree is doing so much better then the old one. I ll give only one star to this place due to poor customer handling skills . I took some stuff from their backyard like SODS I met with two guys who was on truck moving the pallets , one of them is younger one and second one is older one . Younger one is good but the behavior of older one is really very bad .....it was redaculas. I was frustrated from his behavior. I haven't face this type of behavior in canada. If this guy want some leave please provide him someone leave ...because so many talented younster are in line to get job like that...his behavior is not acceptable at all.

MY husband and I were on a hunt to find a specific shrub that I have been looking for but not able to find for years. My husband went south and I went north. I found this shrub at Blue Grass but discovered that it was way overpriced. But I was so happy that I found this shrub that I went ahead and purchased it anyways. I walked around a bit and then went out to my vehicle, was about to put the shrub into the back of my vehicle. I tried to put the shrub into my SUV but was having a difficult time getting it into the back of the SUV. I sat in my vehicle and called my husband. He told me that he found this particular shrub at a third of the price at another location so I told him to go ahead and buy it and I will return this one as I was still in the parking lot with the shrub still in the cart. I sat in my vehicle to find the number. I called and asked if I can return this shrub. I was put on hold for several minutes (about 5 minutes) and was told that once it leaves the lot that they cannot take the shrub back because it is a pesticide free and something to do with it being a green facility. I read the back of the receipt it states that, you have 30 days to return your purchase with a receipt. I was told that this was was non returnable. All I said was, you will get a complaint.' I will not be shopping here again!

Very big garden center, but they must really be hurting for money. Last yr I bought a yard of soil in a handi bag.this yr they made every excuse not to use my handi bag. From forklift expense, to tractor fee, to not being able to prove there are no contaminants inside the bag, or not being able to verify the integrity of the bag. So there yard of garden soil , which is posted online at 54.95 a yard has just gone sky-high up to 169.99. well I will be making sure everyone knows the price and how they treat there customers. Funny thing is last year they never had an issue with the handi bag. Actually used it twice last year without an issue. I guess the owners are hard up on cash and really trying to screw there customers. Will never shop there again. So much for shopping local. I'll go across the road and support the bigger company. Oh and I also forgot, once you've used your handi bag they want you to bring it back . Probably because they will not refill it for you.

Would never shop here based on the fact that they do no honour their return policy. If this happens to you please take your complaint to Service Alberta and they will if warranted investigate the complaint which means you may get your money back. As for failed perennials thanks to that customer we skipped this place as that is what we needed and already had ones we had to throw out from Golden Acre. Glad we did not waste our money here or our time, thanks for the heads up on how they do not honour their policies. Just another place that treats you how they want and this is why the big box stores eat business's like this. Guess if independents want to keep their business they should first learn how to do it. Grateful for those who shared this information.

I purchased a Circus Playset and had it delivered to Vancouver, BC.. Everything was in stock and shipped quickly. From the day it was ordered to when it was delivered it was three days. Super fast! I highly recommend Steve @ Blue Grass LTd. He was extremely thorough, patient, helpful and assisted me with MANY questions and to find a play set. Also made sure it was safe for the little ones once assembled. Super happy with the playset and highly recommend Purchasing from Steve at Blue Grass!

Bluegrass's selection of indoor plants has vastly improved over the last few years. I have been truly impressed. The staff are so knowledgeable as well. Helpfull, well I was there during our heat this summer, I asked the young lady who was watering to mist me and she did! Instant relief! Great pots, plants, soils and so much more. Go check them out!

We purchased two 5 gallon flower bushes (62.99 each specifically because we wanted bushes that were already grown), brought them home one of them was in good condition no issues planted. Second one was smaller to begin with for the same price, but as soon as we took it out of the pot several branches broke up. Planted it into the ground and majority of it died!! Only a few scraggly bushes peaking out once planted. We were told their plants have a one year warranty. Came back to return the one flower plant, and were completely dismissed by their management. He basically insisted that it was our fault the plant had died and we broke the branches. We picked the plant and they won’t be taking it back. The customer service was worse than the plant quality itself. We were there to return this bush and buy many others, including several trees. But walked right out and will never do business with them again.

Well went there to purchase trees and plants, we stood in line, as expected, but I find they are not organized at all, more staff than customers at the front entrance, also we called ahead to discuss trees and the protocol, we went to the but outside, clearly no one knew what the hell I was talking about, one of the women told us to go to lot 12, she will meet us there, so we went and she never showed, we met a young man watering trees, he had no clue, luckily we saw a lady there, who finally understood us, Shannon is her name, she talks to us showed us trees, we ended purchasing 2, to be installed by them, if not for her we would be still standing there, in these times all staff should be trained yo point people in the right direction, and not leave us in the lurch, especially when we called ahead.

This place is aweful. Their customer service sucks. Ive had not a single positive experiance with this place. I called them three times yesterday for a price quote on a specific plant breed, got transferred to the greenhouse twice before I spoke with anyone who was going to answer my questions. At first the lady I spoke with was rude and snobby. When i asked for the quote she responded with "i dont know" and continued to be rude. I called back at a later time hoping this persons shift was over. Second time i called, the guy i spoke with who was rather pushy gave me the wrong price quote as i wasted my time and gas to go to get these plants only to find out that the guy i spoke with lied dramaticly over the price completely uncalled for. The third time I called today, when I went to explain my situation, the employee literally laughed at me. HOW RUDE! Even After explaining to multiple people over the phone that I'm a horticultural plant breeder, that i know what im talking about and they just continued their negativity, for real though. Most of their staff are young people whom care very little about their stock ( as they didn't even know what they had in stock when I called the first time) or about the customers that walk in. They are only pleasant when you walk up to the counter with something your ready to pay for.

Super disappointed in BlueGrass. Bought $400 of perennials last fall. Half of them did not survive the winter. When asked for some kind of compensation the manager said ‘yeah, it was a tough winter! Because you bought them on sale they are not guaranteed!’ So am I to assume from that, that any on sale product is substandard? I was prepared to spend $200 on flowers today, but I walked out. Hey - even Superstore has a 100% refund on failed perennials!! Not the way to do business.

This place is incredible! The staff are absolutely AMAZING! Go above and beyond! I purchased a fountain on sale (final sale) and when I got it home found there was no pump. It had some damage that I was fully aware of and had no problem with but didn’t realize the pump (with light adaptor) was missing. I called and talked to Ivy who apologized but said there was not much she could do. I said I understand and no worries. She called back half an hour later and said she went searching and found me the pump! I wish I could give this store and especially Ivy 100 stars because I would!!

I arranged for curb side pickup in May 2020 during the pandemic. I explained I was looking for tomato plants that had a shorter time to ripe fruit than what I had last year. They advised what would be best and would call me when they were ready for pick up. My husband drove from the far SE of Calgary and he took their word for it. He brought home six plants that were ONLY 4” TALL!!! I’ve never seen a tomato plant ready for purchase that small!! They were definitely not ready to go in the ground. Needless to say we missed out on the much anticipated tomatoes. Here we are in mid August and they have only just reached the second wrung of the tomato cages!! They are now the size they should have been sold at!! What a disappointment! How could you have loaded those to his car with a straight face?? Will never go back!!

Shout out to the Bluegrass team, the hardworking landscape crew and order desk staff. Ordered 13 trees delivered and planted. They look amazing. The property was cleaned up and they got the job done as promised for a late afternoon start. Had a couple concerns on the day of the job. My experience was 5 star. Exceptional service! There was someone working at the front of the store and immediately greeted us when my husbsnd and I walked in. I was at Blue Grass last week, picking out flowers for my planter, and herbs. I picked 6 herbs at the end. And prior to that, I had asked two employees tons of questions, being that I don't plant at all. They both were patient and always willing to help answer my questions, every time so bothered them. They didn't have to help me during this time of Covid, but they did. Fantastic service and attention to customers' needs. Even the cashier took the time to talk to me about fertilizer and how many times to water the flowers and herbs for, despite a long line waiting. I have had the most customer service here compared to many other garden centers. Amazing staff members!

Be wary of applying to the snow removal crews. The supervisor James is highly unprofessional, liar, deceptive, and lacks simple communication. Quite honestly, a monkey could communicate better. The other crew members were really good to work with. Apply to other snow removal companies before Blue grass.

There is no question that Blue Grass has a great selection of nursery and garden supplies. I use to shop there often until I started price checking. Unfortunately their prices on the same product are way above what other retailers are asking. I asked if they would price match after I purchased solar lights and saw the same item at 50% less. I was given a definite no! I returned the items and went to the more reasonable retailer. I was there recently to see if their pricing changed and it is still higher than other retailers. If you don’t care what you spend then Blue Grass is great. But look around the same product is available elsewhere and more reasonable.

I've got lots of dirt on this place! Shoot - that was a typo. I meant that I have got lots of dirt FROM this place! :) A good business with excellent service and high-quality products. I had loam delivered last summer from them to top dress and level my yard. It was not what I expected, so I sent them pictures of how my yard turned out and they me immediately offered a free deliverly a better top dress mix and grass seed to fix the problem. I have since bought more dirt, sod, sand and gravel from them for projects around my yard and everyone from the staff who answer the phone, to the people in the store and crews in the yard are professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Having seen that Bluegrass stands by their products and works to keep customers happy, I highlight recommend them!

Prices are way too high! We needed a few evergreens for our new garden, so we had to buy them (and other plants) in Home Depot much much cheaper. Cherry trees I bought in Canadian Tire for $49, but in this place they are $122!! Even 30% discount they offered by email didn't help us to buy anything - we just wasted our time driving there.

They just never seem to have what I'm looking for every time I go. I have never been approached by staff. You have to find someone for help. It's large and can be overwhelming. Huge selection of all things garden. The prices are a little higher than other competitors. My husband's company uses them and he's happy with their services. Also my kids enjoy the playground.

This used to be one of my favorite stores, I used to come here with my mom and grandma as a kid but now its totally ruined for me. This terrible terrible woman who I have seen others mention in reviews ruins every visit I make. I do not understand how she can be so rude. I guess in the last while the store no longer allows dogs, fine, boohoo. However, I was not aware of this and as long as this one woman isn't working NONE OF THE STAFF, INCLUDING THE MANAGERS, CARE THAT I COME IN WITH ONE. This psycho is the only one who consistently comes to kick us out. There is no sign posted on the door and I have had many managers, including Dave(?) or David (?) come and pet my dog while I am shopping there. Finally today I went in an absolutely had it as soon as I entered I was attacked by the crazy woman again, she said "there is a sign right on the door" I told her nicely to go check and see that there is no sign. I told her I was in there the week prior with him and she flat out said "well thats just not possible" so okay I am lying now? Then I asked can you please ask the manager if he is allowed to come in and she said "I dont need to ask, its store policy he is not allowed in". And she kept saying "its on our website, its on our website, its on our website" well I am so sorry that I don't go out of my way to read your website before coming and visiting your store in person? You terrible terrible woman, I hope you see this review and know I am never setting foot or spending another dime at blue grass because of how you speak to me every time I come in. I am sorry, but you suck. Either make all of your staff enforce your policies or just get rid of them. Your inconsistency is giving me whip lash.

It should be negative 5 to be honest, I dealt with an old creepy manager (guess) called Lynn, said morning, no respond said I need assistance even she did not llom at me. All time she was looking at different spot and talk g to me. I am not sure if the senior managment or even the owner aware of his staff but really she need to be coached to deliver the right customer service that as Canadians we have everywhere in the country. I dealt the other day with another manager his name is Scott, he is real a gentle man and knows how to provide advise and treat everyone equal. Therefore, I believe Lynn has a racism attitude when she is not dealing with the same cacauisn type like here...
