They sold me a Huskav. chainsaw to run on my ALASKAN mill. I needed a long bar. I couldn't figure out why the guy looked so frustrated and kept searching. Finally he put the bar and chain on. A $1000 later I went away with my new rig. After spending a few weeks fighting with trying to get the mill working right I gave up and put the setup away. Then I thought I'd try the mill on my $100 electric saw. It worked flawlessly. I examined the chain and bar on both saws (I've never owned or used chainsaws before). I noticed on the cheap saw that the chain fit and ran smootly, but on the expensive saw it was a loose fit. After some research I discovered that not all bars match all chain. I went into another town and bought a chain to match the bar. My $1000 chainsaw was now working perfectly. The guy at Alberta forest and garden had knowingly put the wrong chain on, causing me to ruin about 30 logs worth of milling. He hoped the chain would work, even though it was too narrow for the bar. It didn't. He knew I was inexperienced and hoped I wouldn't find out what he had done. I was 7 hours away, so I never went back. Worn out bar, garbage chain, ruined logs. I won't go back. I wouldn't either, if ethics or competence mater to you. This was a few years ago now. The guy that did this was limping at the time. Not sure if he still works there. I looked up the numbers on my receipt, and confirmed the bar and chain didn't match. Sheesh

we stopped in here today to get our snow blower fixed... turns out it wasn't worth it lol instead we had the most awesome and informative sales guy take the time to go over at least 6 different snowblowers and explain all the options and features for each so we could make an informed decision on a replacement. We ended up buying 2 new blowers as we had planned to give the repaired one to our son and ended up buying him a new one as well. if you need anything we very highly recommend going here. Staff is great and very informative and nice.

I had a terrible experience with this Company and would NOT recommend them to anyone. The service and treatment was deplorable to say the least. I brought a weed whacker in to get a tune up by them. It was old and needed a tune up so I told them to take a look at it. I paid 50.00 for this service. When I came to pick it up he handed it back to me and also handed me back a little bag of parts. I said aren't you going to put it back together for me? He said very rudely as he pointed to the sign in small print above his head, no we don't put stuff back together. Pardon me??? Are you kidding me!!! I could have saved the 50 bucks and tore it apart on my own. When I told the Manager/owner about how rude this guy was to me, all he said was " well that's old BOB and he's been here for 30 years, so nothing I can do about it?? WORST experience EVER! Yes I get that there may not be a "BOB" at your work, it is a factitious name as I did not know his exact name. Yes 2017 was my last interaction with your place of business. My point is this, I could have saved myself 50.00 and tore it apart myself! It came in working and came out in a bag? That's CRAZY and to loose a good long standing customer over that is ridiculous.

Was given the run around. Payment taken and item not sent out. They had no record of it at fist then they said it was sent out. Still not arrived so made a call, again no record of it then an "oh yes it was sent out yesterday." Still not arrived. Then "we think you have ordered it from somewhere else." Give them proof of payment. "sorry we sent that order out." Two weeks later still not received. Not the best way to treat customers or run a company. Poor!

I had a pretty good experience here buying a Husky 545. They had the chainsaw in stock (nobody else in Calgary had any stock) and the salesman was very friendly and helpful. They lost a star because Mr. salesman did lack a bit of knowledge about some of the finer details, but I was in and out with everything I think I needed. I was also price checking with Lowe’s (sorry guys) and everything was very close. I think this is where AFG really shines is having people with extensive product knowledge and experience. If I bought the saw from Lowe’s I would have missed out on a huge warranty extension by buying some Husky fuel with the saw. You may get something for a bit cheaper at Lowe’s but nobody will be able to help you, and you might buy the wrong thing with a shorter warranty. I’m exited about my new saw and happy to have the 5-Year extended warranty from Husky. I would definitely recommend AFG to anyone.

Had a disconnected hose from the Echo backpack blower fuel tank which was also repaired by them previously under warranty. The unit suppose to have 5 years warranty( I'm in my forth year). first I waited several days for them to look at it - while getting confusing information: it will be looked today; or the person who suppose to look at it is out for several days, when they finally looked was told that they didn't understand why wasn't looked earlier. Also was told when I dropped the unit that I will get before any charges an indication if the work will be considered warranty or not. that didn't happen. the result is that for reconnecting a hose which apparently is a few minutes job I'm charge their standard half an hour cad 52. I know for sure that I will never deal with them again.

we had very good results with Husqvarna equipment these guys sold us. We are a construction company and we use these tools for a lot more than they were meant to be. Still, all stand up fine. We didn't have the same results with Stihl and we didn't like that brand but Husqvarna and Honda are top performers for us. thanks AFG for the advise.

Bought an ignition coil for a chainsaw today. Put it on today and it did not work. Took it back about three hours later. They said that there was a sign posted that no return on electrical parts. Yes this is typical for parts stores. I did not want to return it, I wanted warranty. A manager said they would have to charge me to test it, as he was walking away from me. No questions as to what's going on, or showed no interest to the situation. I felt sorry for the parts lady that was helping me. She had gone in to his office for direction. I have been a licenced automotive, and heavy duty mechanic for over 40 years. So a multimeter for checking ignition coils is no stranger to me, have been using for years. When I retired I work a bite repairing small engines. It is not the $40 dollars that I have lost. It the total lack of respect that I received. I guess I'm just the stupid customer eh. This review process will only rate as low as one start to me it is 0 stars. Update 2018-08-23 Thank you Justin Kellock for your quick reply. Again this is not about the $40 for the ignition coil it is about the principal. Please post sign " NO WARRANTY FOR ANY REASON ON ELECTRICAL PARTS". That is the only way to advise your customers, there are other companies to buy the product.

I've bought and serviced chainsaws, lawn movers, trimmers, generators and water pumps all at Alberta Forest & Garden. I use Alberta Forest & Garden over Home Depots or other Sales companies closer to my location because they know exactly what they are doing and only sell equipment that is specific to land care (this means they actually know how it works). Since I'm running a small agriculture business that requires these items to be dependable day in and day out I can trust and depend on the staff at Alberta Forest and Garden to ensure that any equipment sales, repairs or parts will be exactly what I need when I need it. The staff are straight up with you and will not try and steer you into buying a larger (more expensive) machine like most box stores or do unnecessary/unwanted repairs, which is why I will continue to do business with Alberta Forest and Garden in the future. Dependable, Straightforward and Friendly Staff...can't get any better!

The 4 stars comes from the service technician missing a specific part that I had asked to have fixed which forced me to wait an additional 2 days and require me to take additional time to come back to the shop and pick up the machine. Their shop rate is also quite high in my opinion, $100/hour. Despite all that, I will continue to bring my small machines to this business for service and also for purchases and maintenance of their quality equipment.

I was very disappointed with their level of customer service. I made a large purchase, had some issues with the brand new machine, and was treated like I was a nuisance when I brought up the issues to the staff. To their credit, the staff helped to correct the issue, but their attitude was nonchalant and I got a long list of excuses of why nothing was their fault. I was excited to purchase a new, expensive (over $10000), piece of equipment but in the end I am stuck trying to make the best of a bad situation.

I have used AFG for several years and recently purchased a new Husqvarna whipper snipper with all attachments with relative ease. Prior to the purchase I brought a used lawn mower in for service on May 23/17 and was told there would be a 10 day turnaround. By the 10th of June it still wasn't looked at. I told them that it works fine for about 2 minutes and dies. The next day Rick called me to let me know that it will need a carb with servicing to the tune of $370.00. Being an owner of an auto repair shop I know the difference between no fuel and no spark. I asked him to talk to the tech again and call back. A day went by and I called to find out the status. Rick called back and said they still stand on a carb job. So, I took it out of AFG and changed the plug, cleaned the carb, which was perfectly operational, to find it still died after 2 minutes of operation. Changed a $30.00 coil and it surprise, surprise it works fine. Sad part is that I was interested in buying a new chainsaw with them but did not feel special by any means and could not get over the nonchalant attitude and outrageous pricing. Lawnmower servicing at AFG approx $185 with a $52.50 diagnostic fee.......a small town Husky and Stihl dealer ... comparable lawnmower service approx. $90 with no charge diagnostics AND they even smiled at me and actually wanted my business!! So with that in mind I had them look at an older chainsaw, the same one AFG wouldn't even look at and bought the new Stihl MS250 from them for $10 cheaper than AFG!! Be aware of businesses still stuck in 2008 pricing and attitude. Congrats AFG you have just lost me as a customer and probably don't even give a crap.

GOOD BUISNESS!! Have been shopping at this shop for over 10 years now. This shop only sells the best of the best . STIHL, EXMARK, HUSQVARNA etc...are a few of there items. All top quality and all expensive machines. Subsequently I have spent thousands at this store over the years! Multiple thousands! Lol . Anyone who lives on an acreage or is a contractor knows that these items are not cheap. I would never spend this kind of money at any other shop. I only trust Alberta forest and garden. I recently purchased a Stihl chainsaw from AFG. My buying experience was incredible. They made sure to explain everything and were really patiant and knowledgeable. My saw had a problem after one and a half hours of usage that turned out to have a lot to do with my type of usage. The owner and I had a brief conversation and they upgraded me to a more appropriate chainsaw with no hassle and transfered my extended warranty as well. Amazing customer service and I will return as I am sure that I would never get this level of service from the big box stores! I am a journeyman mech in a different industry. This is the level of service all buisness should strive for!

I often avoid this dealer as I usually find better prices elsewhere. This time, I ordered a part that was to come in from Edmonton "in 4 or 5 days." It has been three weeks and I am still waiting. . . . I took my trimmer to be fix there and got no response after 2 weeks. So i ended up taking it to Cervus (crosspointe rd) lo and behold 3 days later the same trimmer ready to go. Also Cervus doesn't have a fee just to look at your machine.
