Byzantine Winter Festival

Darlene Johnson - DeeJay

Great facility for community events. I have been here many times over the years for different events, during winter, spring and summer. My wife and I were here this time for that blooming garden and art show. We have also been here for the Byzantine winter festival and also the summer art festival. Just a good facility to anchor these festivals. It’s a bit older but still in good shape. September 13, 2019 Alberta Avenue hosts several festivals during the year. Just went to the Kaleido Family Arts Festival and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of activities for the family. Awesome live entertainment and music. It’s an outdoor festival so the weather can be a problem sometimes but tonight it was great. If it’s a bit cold then there are several fire pits spaced throughout the festival area. This is a great festival to come to and enjoy.

We use this hall a lot and it is always very suitable for our functions. Its clean and comfortable. Nothing terribly special, but very, very functional.

For all the Salvadorian food lovers. Keep this in mind. Some of those people working in the kitchen, they don't have good sanitazing and good ethics practices. I saw some of the people working in there, sneezing around the area all over the kitchen. In other instance, a caucasian looking lady, who looked like she was the head of the cooking area, was sticking her fingers straight from the pots to heer mouth, and then, she continued cooking like nothing. In another case, I found hairs in my food. As well, I noticed that some guy in there didn't even have a hair net, and he was sticking his hands all over the food. One of the women dispatching as well, she was a tall dark looking woman, she didn't even have a hair net or gloves, and she was handling food. I ended up throwing away my food when I finally got it. Oh yeah, and the bathrooms were totally disgusting and dirty.

Customer service- 0/5: wasn’t even my wedding and I was extremely disappointed in the way the staff acted. From the rehearsal to the actual wedding they acted as if they didn’t want us there at all. Karen was the main one and she always rolled her eyes and just looked pissed the entire time we where there. It was a special day for my family and the staff made everyone feel very uncomfortable and judged.. Garden venue- 3/5: garden was beautiful the flowers where so beautiful to take pictures with! Only good part about that venue is the garden!

A vibrant community in Edmonton that has a bad reputation of being unsafe with nothing to do. There are many people walking their dogs, getting groceries, and doing their Saturday duties. There are also some great restaurants in the area.

I was there for a band practice, and it works pretty well for that! It had the "high school gymnasium" vibe to it. I think it would be a challenge to decorate it up well enough to be respectable for a wedding or classy party, but would work well for a more casual gathering. Lots of parking which I appreciated in a relatively high density area. I know one of the bathrooms is being torn apart and worked on, so presumably they'll have nice new bathrooms soon too

Customer service 0/5 - I dealt with Karen there were few other staff available. I and everyone directly involved in the event were extremely unhappy with the actions of the staff, I’m not sure of anyone else’s name. It was a very condescending, judgemental, unwelcoming atmosphere. Really felt unwanted even though we paid to be there. I really wanted to just brush the experience off because it was supposed to be the best time but it left a sour taste and I don’t want anyone else’s expectations to be let down by this department of the venue. Garden venue 4/5 - Amazing price, absolutely beautiful area for any venue. Materials available were great. Quiet area, park Right near. Loved the garden experience!

I was here for the byzantine winter festival. I had a nice experience here. They have a kitchen, and a desk by the door that was used as a ticket counter but could also be used as a coat check. Its a nice hall, bit it was kinda small and cramped for the occation considering so many people were packed inside, but overall a nice experience.
