Greatest selection of fruits and vegetables in South Surrey/White Rock, lots of local produce, neat speciality things like Stapleton Sausage and fantastic prices. I have always had very helpful service too. It can be busy though but that just helps with the quick rotation of inventory and fresh, fresh, fresh. There are always lots on sale too, so very economical. Highly recommend.

This is a go to for our family. Quality of the fruit far exceeds that in the grocery stores. They have other basics - dairy (including ice cream), deli meats, eggs and cheese. My only small negative is that the Bread options are not our favourites.

Amazing market, I don't buy produce anywhere else after finding this gem. Everything is of such good quality and it lasts long once you bring it home! It's also super affordable (way less than a grocery store) I've walked out with 4 bags under $20 many times. The staff are also really friendly and fast.

I was there to pick some stuff to make Chicken Gnocchi soup. This place has plenty of good produce. And even better great customers. I was have trouble with my debt card it was not working and as I was going to pay cash, this beautiful kind lady said don't worry about it, it is on me put your money away. I was shocked cause I could pay. But she said "I believe good things happen to people that help others" Funny thing I said that all time to the kids when they asked when I have done the same thing. Bought some mini cucumbers yesterday, opened them this morning and found they were moldy. I took them back today to show them, lady by the till asked when I bought them, I said yesterday, then she said "I don't believe you". She went and talked to a manager in the back and came back handed me the bag and said no receipt. I asked to talk to the manager, he said that she shouldn't have said that to a customer, but as I had no receipt to prove I bought them at their store they were not going to check their other stock. They were $4 and change. The cost was not the point of bringing them back in...... Not going back.

I really enjoy this place. You have to kind of pick and choose things, as prices can really change a lot, but then that's where we are in life at the moment. They have a great selection, and it can be a one-stop shop, as it has a lot of fridge and frozen items as well. I love the fact that they bring in international treats. I even found some German cookies I was looking to buy online for four times the price. Sometimes the lines can get quite long, however usually when I'm in them, I end up snaking a few other things while I'm waiting. So much to look at. They also have gluten-free items, another health conscious items as well as a huge assortment of dried fruit, nuts, delicious cookies etc. Easy parking.

Really like to shop here for fruits and vegetables. Fresh produce because of high turnover and also reasonably priced overall. Some special deals are a bonus. Well stocked with dedicated employees.

Have lived within a few blocks for 7 years and the service and produce has gotten worse every year. So much that we now drive to the Country Market at 168 and highway 10 for our main produce shopping. We only shop Chans if we are filling in a gap and as a result have gotten stale stock, rotten oranges, very old corn in the cob at the height of the corn season. A lot of the local produce is fine, but food shipped in is hit and miss. When I have returned product on a couple of occasions it is met with untrusting indifference. Now I don’t bother to return stuff because they don’t care, but it just reinforces our disappointment. Bunsmaster bread deliveries are apparently twice a week but Chans rarely have enough stock. Not that we’d drive to the Country Market just for bread but it is always available, fresh and a dollar less per loaf. One staple my wife buys weekly there are lemons, 10 at a time. When she says she has 10 they always count them. I’ve witnessed the staff ask for ID of cute old couple buying $7.00 worth of groceries on their Visa. At the height of Covid I witnessed staff restocking used grocery baskets without sanitizing and when I brought it to their attention they just shrugged their shoulders. My last 2 trips have resulted in them checking my coin payments to make sure the quarters aren’t counterfeit. Seriously. Actually handed me back a quarter, and when I pointed out the strange image on the back was the Stanley Cup, they looked at me quizzically and reluctantly accepted the coin.

The best local vegetable store out there, always great choices and prices. Its always busy cuz of the selections and friendly and knolegable staff/ownerz. There is a great sandwich place next door too. Its a little small but big for a corner store. A small parking lot but plenty of parking on the street. But most people seem to walk there from home and just buy waht they need for next couple days and its better to keep the food quality as high as possible!!

Wife and I have been loyal customers for several years. Bought groceries on Sunday. Was charged for an item we did not buy or receive. Went back on next day requesting refund. Clerk said had to talk to Manager. Said come back as they had to review video tape. Claimed I would have to come back. How would they even know what i looked like as she didnt even want to take the time to come and talk to me. I approached Manager and spoke to her, she said no refund. I will not shop here again. They are dishonest. I think new management and not trust worthy. I will never shop at this store again.

We used to buy almost all of our produce at this store, but since the new owners and management have taken over, we've stopped shopping here. The produce is of extremely poor quality, no longer bought from reputable vendors but cheaply at auction. It is often damaged and spoils or rots very quickly, sometimes within a day or two of purchase. It is not unusual to see already spoiled or spoiling produce right on the shelves in the store. Bacteria, mold, and yeast are the primary sources of foodborne illnesses caused by consuming old vegetables, and damaged or bruised vegetables are prime targets for decay and infection during storage. We've seen produce arrive at the store in trucks and hit the shelves without ever being washed. We've also seen it come in completely bad, and watched staff in the back remove rotting bits before placing on the shelves. When stores don't buy from reputable vendors, how can you be sure that the products haven't been contaminated in transit? The staff don't wear gloves or hair nets while handling produce, and fail to follow established health standards by going directly back and forth between the register and handling cash to handling produce without washing their hands. In addition, a large number of the packaged goods on the shelves are already long past (sometimes a year or more) their best before dates, so ALWAYS check dates before you buy because this store refuses refunds for any reason, even with a receipt.

I’ve been regular customer here for eleven years, buying the bulk of my produce here during that time. On May 4, 2019 the Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a food recall warning for the GPM brand of pea shoots sold at this store, which were recalled due to listeria monocytogenes. The same day, after being alerted to the recall, I brought two packages of pea shoots that I’d purchased a few days prior back to the store for a refund. The refund was refused by both the cashier and the manager because I no longer had a receipt. I have had to return recalled food items several times before to different stores, and have always been provided with a full refund whether or not I had a receipt. This is standard retail protocol when the Canadian Food Inspection Agency reports foodborne illness associated with a product. Of course virtually every store these days will give you your money back with a receipt. But stores that value your business and are keen to keep you coming back as a customer will give you your money back if you return the product without one, especially when the product may contain gram-positive bacterium that causes severe illness and mortality rates. If the manager of this store had offered a smile and a refund, it would have cost them six dollars, the price of two packages of pea shoots. Instead, they have not only lost a loyal long-term customer who spent thousands of dollars per year in their store, but they have also lost the business of my entire family and four of my friends, all of whom were regular customers but have now also decided to no longer shop there after hearing about my experience. The lack of customer service is inexcusable and the customer care is reprehensible.
