Overall this is a well run grocery store with a good variety of products. I live nearby so it is convenient. The only challenge is the express checkout, which is truly not express. Many people have much more than the allowable limit with no reprocussions from staff.

WELL I FEEL MOST COMFORTABLE IN THE MCGOWAN STORE, MUCH MORE THEN NOFRILLS WHICH FOOD TO ME HAS BECOME DISTASTEFUL. MCGOWAN FRESH - CO HAS EVEN RECENTLY OPENED ITS DOORS TILL 12 MIDNIGHT 7 DAYS PER WEEK, AND THERES TALK ABOUT POSSIBLY HAVING THERE DOORS TO BE OPENED 24 - 7 WHICH WOULD BE SO AWESOME FOR THOSE WHO CAN NEVER SEEM TO FIND THE RIGHT TIME TO SHOP, THEY HAVE THE RULE THAT IF YOU CAN BUY A PRODUCT ANYWHERE ELSE AT A PRICE THAT THEY WILL MATCH IT , I PERSONALLY LIKED THE FACT THAT MORE OF THERE FOODS ARE BEING WRAPPED FOR PERSONAL HYGEIN. I was surprised at how good this store was. It is small for a grocery store so we cant do our full shop there. But we needed a few key items. They had them, not expensive for everything but Pop which Shoppers Drug Mart kills them on. But most other things were similar. It was clean and friendly and the staff ready to help.

We do love to shop at this Frescho, but 2 things we are starting not to care for too much. One is customers parking illegally in front of the grocery entrance, and two, the items that we use to buy there has become unavailable: VH butter chicken, green pigeon peas and Munchee lemon puffs.

I am a front line health care worker and this store has the worst policy in regards to priority access. I recently recieved my vaccination and was experiencing general muscle soreness. I normally bring my wife along with me to help, but she was especially important for this trip because I could barely push a cart. The manager of the store (Manny) refused to admit my wife and I quoting that they could only allow myself in and not my wife. He actually suggested she "wait in the car" in -16 degree weather. What if a single mother who was a health care worker came to shop here after a long shift and had her kids? This manager would tell her to leave her kids in the car? The management of this store is beyond incompetent and their policies are not only stupid, but discriminatory. Take your business elsewhere.

This morning at 10:11 I went to this store, FreshCo McCowan & Ellesmere identified myself as an essential worker showing my ID and requesting to go in for bread - I was heading to work. The security guard went to check with management and I was refused entry, I needed to line up. I wonder if I was an essential worker that was not black would I have gained access to buy my bread. I am very disappointed and will no longer be shopping at this store. You don't deserve any star - but of course for me to post, I had to select one.

Good collection of groceries at reasonable prices at a convenient location close to Scarborough Town Center, well connected by public transit. Better planning of shelves to accommodate more inventory compared to Price Chopper here before at the same place.

Recently FreshcCo has redesigned the layout of the first area. It's now much easier to navigate when busy and feels a lot more comfortable when picking up fresh produce. Additionally this location is by a very multicultural community so it provides a lot of harder to find spices and products as well. This includes a personal favourite of mine Melona which can be hard to find in mainstream grocery stores. If I had any complaint it would be that due to its size, on busy days there can be lines that lead into the isles as well.

Do not go there to get items on the advertisement, which is quite mischievous. I failed twice to get items on the ad even if I went for shopping first in the morning. IIf the store had that short supply, then, they had to specify the quantity. t is just one of the many oriental supermarkets. Prices are not bad, quality is, well, um level. I do not consider this shop for grocery shopping any longer.

There's usually a lineup during rush hour, and weekends. The line is well controlled, and it's not too crowded inside the store. I would just say the variety of fruits/vegetables aren't alot but the rest of the foods are pretty good deals when they're on sale. Place is also nicely kept and clean.

Usually there are just two to three cashiers despite a huge crowd waiting to be checked out. Once due to the havock at the store a few people just left their carts and went away without their groceries. I needed groceries urgently but the chaos was such that I had to leave empty handed as I wasted so much time already!!! Also, the milk section stinks awfully as you open the fridge. Hope the issue gets addressed soon..

There was barely any produce, which is mainly what I went for and a lot of the produce they did have was not fresh. The associate working in the produce was just throwing the avocados into the bin and made me wait for at least 10 minutes for fresher cucumbers that was right on his cart. The old ones should've been removed prior to customers coming in because they were gross. I actually thought of asking to speak to the manager. I left there and went to a Wal-Mart Superstore to get my produce.

This place used to sell good quality vegetables and fruits. But when I went there last Tuesday, my experience was not so great. Some of the vegetables were not fresh. To specifically mention, the entire lot of red onions were sub standard. Hopefully they had taken them off the shelf, after I spoke with the supervisor regarding this.

I mean it's not a bad store it's not AMAZING either. The customer service is very good here at least from my perspective. There's a good selection to choose from but obviously like with most stores you won't find EVERYTHING you need. Deadass they need to chill with the cereal prices. Man's aren't trying to pay 6 bones for a box of cereal. downside of this store is that the lines are long for no reason sometimes like Ong the cashiers take.way to long to cash you out, especially at the express check out it's slower than the regular check out. They need to have more cashes open during peak hours in order to accommodate the customers.

We don't have a FreshCo in our neighbourhood so thought we'd stop in and check it out. Not impressed with the cleanliness or the quality of the stock. Not sure if the carts were sanitized or not. Just gave up shopping halfway through the store as I couldn't stand it anymore.

I go to this Freshco for the last 2 years. Initially the fruits and vegetables were fresh and of good quality. Prices were cheaper or comparable to Walmart. but in the last few months I am seeing low quality products especially onion, mango and curry leaves.

Best place to buy groceries in the area. A very big store. Can be a bit overcrowded sometimes but really good for buying food items and daily use items. I highly recommended this place. Staff is really friendly, sweet and helpful.Prices at this store are really good. I buy all my groceries from here.

Freshco, at times can be very good but also can be very bad. Some locations can sell their customers rotting vegetables and some good fresh vegetables. I find the one located at Midland and Lawrence is horrible 60% of the time, but I'll go because of the butcher. While, the one located on McCowan and Ellesmere or McCowan and 16th or 14th, I think, is great, every time I go. Soo because the name Freshco does not strive to carry fresh food in every store of theirs, I give them 3 stars. I would have given 2.5 but there isn't a half star option.

The fruits and vegetables are never fresh. I live nearby and visit this place often. It's absolutely unfair! Often times, I have pointed out rotten / moulded fruits n vegetables to the staff. Its unfortunate they think its okay to sell this to their paying customers. Many times, the vegetables look diseased... not recommended for any one health conscious.

If a distant relative or family friend I hadn't seen in a while was in Boston and offered to take me out to dinner to 'catch up', you bet I would take them up on the offer. Food is a wonderful thing that can bring people together and can help you keep the ones you love close. 2. It's social. Think about how many times you've texted a friend and said 'hey wanna get ice cream' or 'rise and shine we're getting brunch'. Even though you might not realize it, tons of social events are centered around food. Birthday or holiday dinners, city trips, lunch dates, cocktail parties, happy hours, and even pizza parties in your dorm room. The minute someone says 'there will be food' so many more people are apt to show up to the event or social gathering. People bond over food they enjoy and there are many different communities, like the vegan community, that have been formed all based on similar diets. Genuinely wish I could rate it lower. I'm sure both the deals and the produce live up to there so so reputation it's just the attitude of the staff that manages to make a reasonably run-of-the-mill experience just terrible. Can't remember the last time I encountered such a lack of respect for the corporate image as I have here. Terrible. Avoid if at all possible. There's at least five separate department and grocery stores within walking distance - 4 of whom have consistently lower prices and show better appreciation for customers walking through the door. Do yourself a favor, and Skip this place.

I come to this location numerous times a week, sometimes numerous times a day. I just had to tell 2 gentlemen to put their masks on. They walked around the store passing numerous employees and not one of them asked them to put their masks on. So I asked if he was going to put his mask on and he had the nerve to tell me its right here in my hand!!! The customer should not be approaching other customers to put masks on. First of all your not supposed to touch your mask never mind holding it and second of all what good is it in your hand? That won't protect anyone. If there ends up being a case of covid at this location, ill be contacting a lawyer because your staff are not doing anything to protect the community. This just happened so you can figure out which staff were working. Maybe some more Covid training needs to happen because I am not comfortable going into your store anymore !! What a shame. Ill be contacting Toronto Public Health as well. Stay safe.

I live freshco for grocery shopping, veggis and fruits are of better quality and price is also fine. It has large variety of frozen and international food. Every week they have discounts of different grocery items. How nice it is to get discount on your favourite snacks :) timing is also good. It is open till 11pm so no hurry to visit it in early evenings. I have subscribed to their mail flyer, so i can plan my weekly shopping accordingly. Sensations is their own brand, it has alot of stuff at better price than other brands so you can hunt for them too.

Looking for a place for your everyday groceries? This is it. You get everything here and at good prices. This place is well maintained and is located at a prime location with good bus service. Staff are also nice and always willing to help you out. I'm an Indian guy and I find most of the things I need to prepare Indian dishes. Grams, pulses, produce, meat, everything is here. The reason I took off 1 star is because several times over the past 2 years, I've found produce that are not fresh. I could see rot right on the surface. But there a 2 great things that have happened recently. First is that they've started selling rotisserie chicken which is simply great. Price for it was $8.99 when I bought it on December 3rd, 2021. Another thing that I love are the self check-out stations. If I'm in a hurry, I don't have to wait in line anymore. Also, I can take my own sweet time in bagging my items without anyone breathing down my neck. You can subscribe to their weekly flyers and plan accordingly.

Racist cashier. I went to this location today with an infant in the stroller so I was unable to push the cart and the stroller at the same time . I had brought my reusable bags so I started loading my groceries in the bags. In the middle of my shopping, the bags started getting heavy so I asked a grocery clerk to put my filled bags aside while I continued shopping. When it was time for me to check out, I went to get my bags. The cashier at the express checkout said 'excuse me, you have to pay for those , you can come to my checkout'. I told her that I had more than 8 items and she says 'ok you'll have to go pay for everything at another checkout , but make sure you pay for the items in these bags as well'. The whole time I was checking out, she kept turning around and watching me check out my items like I was going to steal. I got so frustrated I yelled at her to stop looking back. I will not be shopping at this location anymore because of this.

Dropped in to pick up a few items around the corner from work. English cucumbers $0.75, bananas $1.23/kg, Shopsy’s 375g deli-trim bacon $3.00, and S!gnal potatoe chips $0.99 per 200g bag. Many aisles were cluttered with products and it was like an obstacle course but it’s doable but not what I look for in a grocery shopping experience. My shopping cart front right wheel kept on locking and I was dragging it around the whole time; I should have switched it in the beginning but there wasn’t a lot of choices available. Garden material was displayed outside; a sure sign it’s spring! The cashier wasn’t friendly but she did process my items quickly.

Nothing particularly spectacular about this location. Nothing notably bad either. Here are a few observations: - Cashiers are quick. -Prices are reasonable (it's a FreshCo) - Store is well kept. - A bit cramped in there. That feeling gets compounded when they're busy. That being said, you kind of want to leave as soon as you walk in sometimes.

We only spent a couple of minutes inside the store, but from what we saw it looks like that they have everything to suit most cultural needs. Although the store is rather compact and cramped, it is not hard to find your way around. One of the better stocked and maintained fresh co's around Scarborough. I have recently visited this against the one close to my place at Midland & Lawrence and what a sea of difference between the two places. I like this store. Just please think of a new cart locking system for people who don't carry cash. I always end up shopping without a cart carrying my grocery in my arms which is very annoying. I never understood the logic behind a 0.25 c lock. You can also create a station for accessing carts using credit card like the ones they have in the malls. They try to push very old items on sale. Customer service is very spotty, used to be good place but getting worst with Manager and customer service thinking they are customers and we owe them money. My neighborhood FreshCo. is excellent. The staff is quite friendly. Even when dealing with unruly price-matching customers insisting that Salmon shouldn't be an exception LOL. Their weekly sales are excellent (I.e. 1.2 kg bag of chicken wings for $5.99, with sauce!). With that being said, they are a touch lacking with selection. For example, ancient grain flat bread/pitas only come in small (diameter) sizes or dark chocolate almond milk, but overall, their basics such as meat, cereals and vegetables are excellent. Parking is ample and they closely monitor physical distancing practices. Great place to shop!

I just happened to leave the store. There is no social distancing inside the store. The isles are too narrow and the manager, who is supposed to manage, is a very rude person whose vocabulary is only F word and threats. 16 customers left the store while only 4 were allowed in, when I entered. This Store Manager, threatened me of dire consequences if I ever entered the store again. I strongly believe he was racially discriminative. I have been going to this store for over 20 years since the time this store was Price Chopper. I have escalated this matter to the Owner of this store, in writing, and will escalate, if incident to needed, to the proper authorities of the threat I am given. This one star is simply because of this Manager's attitude, otherwise this store is excellent and the staff super helpful everytime. Never I have had this experience in the past. Just to add, I escalated this incident to Freshco Head office and it has been 10 days now they have not even acknowledged. This is how and what Freshco is all about. Time to completely boycott this store.

On a Saturday it is packed, but on a weekday its peaceful shopping. We met the manager one day, Alfred, and were very pleasantly surprised at how helpful, kind, and down to earth he was. He asked about what we usually need and is always getting info from the locals as to what else they would like him to carry and stock. He even does his own research to find our which ethnic or cultural foods different demographics and communities would like and makes sure to order them (for example, getting Maggie noodles requested by students, deli meats for the Italian demographics, and poha for the gujarati community) . Best part, he has all of them at great prices! Mostly, the best and lowest in the market!

The overall selection appears to be ok but the state of the store has a lot left to be desired. There are a number of stains everywhere, but one place that suffers the most is the dairy/milk section. The smell when you open the fridges would make anyone gag if not vomit. There are milk spills on every shelf and on every surface. The bottom pad is absolutely disgusting to look at, completely brown from all the stain. We informed Leo - Store Manager of the issue and he said he would address it. Let's hope so because no one should have to shop in such a dirty place.

The store used to be my to go grocery store. But I guess maybe new management came in and now the store is just really not pleasant fruit and vegetables quality is bad. And the worst are the staff very rude disrespectful and angry at themselves. There is a middle-aged gentleman working mostly moving around shopping karts in the parking lot, he is the worst always angry just recently he started yelling inside the store at a customer for no apparent reason. Very uncomfortable environment unprofessional. Management should pay more attention who they hire. I hope they go back to the quality they used to have . Nothing fresh about Freshco no more.

This is my honest opinion: It's one of the cheapest store in terms of the cashiers present at checkout thar I have ever experienced in 16 years of Canada. Always line ups, regardless covid situation, even though, I have been to other grocery stores during pandemic and I haven't lined up the way I'm lining up here . I would close the business if I were the manager. I have to admit that it's the closest grocery store from my place, that's why I'm going there, but I always go there disgusted.

When the pandemic started this store was great. Enforced capacity really well and could be in and out within 20 min. Staff were responsible and respectful of mask wearing and cleanliness. Today its awful. I found 3 staff with their masks below their noses engaged in conversation with each other while sorting produce. The new line up system significantly slows down the check out. Overall everything just feels dirty and unclean. Will not return.

I don't go here often for a few reasons: 1) Their slogan should be "If it's in the flyer, we don't have any." Admittedly, this isn't usually true for frozen items like ice cream, but generally a waste of my time 2) The parking lot looks large, but the edges of the lot are reserved (not sure if actually enforced) and the rest can be a bit tight during peak periods. You also can't turn Eastward directly onto Ellesmere, which can be a pain 3) While most grocery stores have busy and quiet periods, I genuinely can't predict how bad the lines will be here. They're not usually awful, but for a place where I only get half of what I came for, not worth the risk of wasted time even if I'm only stuck for 20+ minutes 1/4 of the time

This FreshCo location has grown sooooooo much! Cleaner, brighter, great layout and now they serve 1kg bbq chicken that's made on site. Shopping in the morning around 9am still isn't bad. I understand these are very weird times. However we're pretty much a year into this. I would expect a big essential grocery store to know how to manage social distancing protocols. The lines are poorly managed. People aren't 6 feet away from each other. Even the line leading up to the person handling which cashier to send people to, isn't managed properly. I've seen people 3 feet behind the next person. Some people aren't going to get into a confrontation with that person, so it becomes the job of the employee to enforce it. I'm not sure if by-law officers have been to this location or not, but maybe they should. Other than that. This is just another grocery store. All products are mostly stocked. Employees are helpful when trying to find product that you can't find or that isn't on the shelf.

Most products are fresh and satisfactory with reasonable price. Just few things I hope to be changed there: The red velvet cake is really awful. It contained artificial taste too much and too sweet, so I was able to eat only few bites. I really like bakery products at FreshCo but the cake. Also, it would be better if there are self checkout machines or more cashiers during peak hours. Sometimes I have to stand for long time waiting the line. These are just little complaints which can change the review with 5 stars. Overall, it is a decent grocery store and I am glad that's nearby.

Cashiers rush you even when there's no line. There are a few empty shelves. Not a lot of variety in nuts, seafood, seasoning, many others. Shouldn't have gone back. Customer service is poor! The lady with a pony tail putting stickers on the shelves did not want to be bothered to answer a simple question. I asked where the regular soy sauces were not the imported or specialty kind, even before I finished my question, she interrupted saying "one....one" then walked away and as she turned at the corner, YELLED: "FIVE!"... no "excuse me"..not a sentence just one word, abruptly and loudly given answers. It closed at 12am ! You have to check the receipt before you go caused I was charged for a different price since they have key in a wrong number. The name of the fruit is the same but the origin is different as one is cheaper. Once I lined up at the express lane but the East Indian young man in front of me got a trolley of goods to pay. I have told the cashier that he should have rejected him to check out. But, he just continue. A day after , the same cashier told people who goes with a trolley that the lane is an express lane only. Well done! A lot of goods from Philippine, Chinese, East Indian etc. they sold rice and a lot of flour. A lot of ice cream choices. I used to buy their 24 bathroom tissue which is much cheaper than other famous brand. The 24 seems much better than the 12 of the same brand. Overall a lot of choice of the same good. You got most of the stuff here from hardware to daily groceries but not medical stuff. For just $5 you can purchase a bag of food from them which you can drop in the big box at the exit for donation to the food bank.
