Fantastic cheeses, a bit pricey but you have to pay a bit more for quality. Buying directly from the factory isn't cheaper then buying at the grocery store but you have a lot more choices. They also carry a variety of yummy goodies. Adjacent to the cheese shop, an Amish furniture store. Both worth the stop ????????.

Great shop for foodie gift purchases or to fill in a charcuterie board. The balderson cheese is delicious, but they have a great array of other varieties as well. Not a place to find a bargain, but really delicious and beautiful selection of some local and other fancy grocery items. Nestle ice cream cones for sale to occupy the littles while you shop.

The staff is not friendly at all. Perhaps they were busy but no customers in the shop, shelves were fully stocked, but maybe they were doing something else. There were 2 people behind the counter, neither one looked up, or asked if they could help. My wife and I walked around the shop. I will not be back. Not worth stopping here.

I agree with Billie's comment. Balderson cheese is excellent. I eat the 2 year old Balderson nearly every day even though it's pretty expensive. Where I live it retails between $8.50 and $12.00 a brick depending on the supermarket. The cheapest is at Walmart. That's not cheap cheese! But I hate the way it's wrapped which is in tight shrink wrap. Balderson needs to get with the program and provide a wrap that has a pull tab that opens the package. I have actually even cut my fingers trying to get Balderson's cheese open. Not a good consumer advertisement.

Some kind of a tourist trap, not a cheese factory. This corner store is selling a mish-mash of goods from other places at twice the price, especially the cheese. Sorry, but if you want great cheese, go to a real cheese factory... or buy Balderson Cheese at Costco or a supermarket.

I wish I could leave a positive review, but I am still waiting on my products or a response from the company. I placed an online order on May 14th, and patiently waited for my items to ship. I have been charged for the items and have paid for them. Two weeks after the order was placed, I contacted Balderson through their email to inquire about the order. I never received a response to that email. I have sent another email since then and am still awaiting a response. Items in the order were a gift and will more than likely not be here in time which is disappointing to say the least. If the order can’t be shipped in a reasonable time, people should be informed. At the very least the company should be responding to communications from customers. Please either fulfill the order or offer a refund.

Nothing special about this place which considering some of the positive reviews, was rather surprising. It's got a lot of product but it's the same stuff (cheese, gourmet foods, ice cream) that you can find in many other local stores, and probably for a better price.

**Warning** - this place has nothing to do with Balderson cheese, except selling it - for double its price at grocery stores. Also a lot of other cheeses and jams and knickknacks, decent selection actually but we bought nothing since the prices were similarly inflated. Made a special trip here from the 7, thinking it was the Balderson factory outlet. Not for decades apparently, since Parmalat Inc bought Balderson and moved the production line. And there’s no heritage here either, it’s just a tourist trap store.

Balderson Cheese is an everyday staple at our house! We regularly purchase our favourite Balderson, two year Royal Canadian Cheddar, from Costco! Best cheese ever! Currently, three bricks in our fridge because they were on sale at Costco (doesn't happen very often).. Our grandsons thoroughly enjoy individually wrapped Balderson in their lunches. They are keenly aware that they can readily access this healthy snack at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

I love your cheeses and buy regularly (extra old) I have a suggestion : It is very difficult to remove the cheese from the sealed plastic wrapper. Poor customer service skills from the woman working the ice cream shop today and no signs to notify customers that they don’t take credit cards for the ice cream. When I told her I was paying with Visa she said they “strongly prefer” cash and stared at me blankly until I asked what I do if I don’t carry cash with me. She was reluctant in telling me that I could go to the front and pay with visa but she wasn’t very receptive when I told her that’s what I’d have to do (I was buying cheese too anyway). I asked why they don’t have signs out and she literally shrugged her shoulders, didn’t say anything and just stared at me. Very poor customer service skills and unpleasant demeanour. This was the first time I’d been in the shop in years, figured I’d go check it out again and support local - especially on Canada day...this experience really makes me not want to go back again if this is how customers are treated.

Coming from the states I would of given the gift shop and furniture a five star rating, thought it was well laid out and enjoyable to wander through. However if I were to rate the cheese shop I would rate it a 1-2 star. We stayed in Calabogie, they encouraged us to come. They raved about your cheese and that we could do a cheese tasting. NOT!!! After vacationing in Vermont and visiting Calbot Cheese and Sugar Bush Cheese and then in New York Miranda cheese and other cheese places... we were highly disappointed you did not offer cheese samples. Upon asking, the staff informed us they don’t offer samples! How in the world do you expect people to know what cheese to buy without tasting the cheese? You are doing a disservice to your customers who have never had your cheese before by not offering a tasting or samples. I bet if you offered a cheese tasting your sales would go up. Very disappointed customers who left without buying cheese.

This place had a broad variety of cheeses, which really excited me. The excitement faded when I ate the cheese. I got a block of cranberry cheddar, along with some horse radish cheddar. The cranberry cheese had an unsettling mushy texture. The horse radish was the opposite. It was flaky and far to dry. It also had a dull taste. However, the cheese curds I purchased were good.
